"You ever been to New Orleans, Geoff?"
"Yeah, I have a place down there."
I was just about to search that video up. That sequense is hilarious
"Oh, we throw beads...we can go swimming....together...just you and me...."
"Well, well....uh....I'm laughing again!"
Oohhh myyyyy.
Got a lil pad down there
Underrated when he was on air,
cult favourite when he's retired.
Flirted with the ladies while getting a Peabody.
Only Craigy Ferg could *tootsie frootsie* do that.
He had the funniest monologues. He was so far superior to everyone before him - even better than Letterman and Carson. He desperately needed better guests and some polish on his interviews --- but his opening monologue was pure genius at times.
@@LuckyPlays craig ferguson was the only one near conan's level
@@LuckyPlays Some polish on his interviews? He was the best interviewer by a long shot.
He even had a decent conversation with Paris Hilton, he made her almost look like a normal person- a feat that no host had been able to do before.
Letterman went for the cheap stuff, making fun of her like a 5th grader, not saying she doesn't deserve it for putting herself out with no specific talent, but it doesn't require special skill, like most of Dave´s stuff.
Craig did creepy jokes, flirted with the women, but always respected them.
His only bad interview that I can remember was his second one with Anthony Hopkins, but even that had it's moments.
Letterman and Kimmel (look at the interview with Robert Downey Junior) make you feel awkward, because they never learned how to be social and respectful. Letterman had so many bad interviews, which is ok given that he had a long career, but he always treated unusual figures like Andre the giant or Marylin Manson like crap, making them feel bad for being different. Veerrry original, and I'm not even a fan of these guys.
Had Craig interviewed them, they would be absolute classics.
Carson was smooth, look at his interview with 105-year-old Mildred Holt in 1988-
He took the opportunity to give an historic insight, by having a light and humorous conversation with an extremely old lady, who has seen so much in her life. In terms of respect compared to today, he seems lightyears ahead of modern entertainers, he was such a gentleman, but maybe that was required in that time period.
@@Rick-qo2ok He let it get awkward fart too many times for most celebrities. He's my favorite talk show hose of all time behind Carson, but I do think that was his weakest link. If he clicked with the celebrity, it was fun to watch. But his percentage of awkward interviews was too high, and I believe that over time, it hurt who he could attract to speak on his show. IMO
@@Zetsuke4 Conan who? (sorry...I just see a comedy writer....who's a BAD TV host.)
Can we replace Jimmy Fallon with Craig please? I miss him.
Or Kimmel. Either Jimmy would be fine.
dielaughing73 No, Kimmel is just another one of the late night clones, same as all the others.

Craig was the only one that was funny and edgy and not overly political. He did what he wanted, and nobody bossed him around.
@@JesusFriedChrist as much as i enjoyed mr Ferguson, there were and are other great ones.. it's about taste and mood...
do you remember 'the daily show with jon stewart'? :}
Durox Kilo ahh the memories
Fully agreed
Craig was everybody's friend. He even made the audience part of the show. He was real and sincere, and the guests really took to him too. He's one of a kind. Today's hosts are all fake, shallow, and talentless
I would like but you've got 69 likes so I wont mess that up
Today's hosts are fine. Quit being a judgemental prick.
I don't think they're talentless. It's the corporate that destroys everything good and funny and nice about comedy. They've got such a tight grip on the shows, it can't be funny anymore. Just agressive and demeaning.
Seth Meyers is pretty good. Not Craig good, but better than the others.
Nope he s not
Ironic but not bitter, clever but not cruel, funny observer, but not driven by any agenda, and above all, not afraid to be absolutely, ridiculously silly! THE BEST.
This. ❤
I admire this man on so many levels. His humour, his earnestness, his thoughtfulness - just a genuinely fascinating human being.

I think he really is one of the few successful comedians with the intelligence to know when the coat doesn't fit him anymore , he needs a change and also the confidence and humility to move on and try something new ... I agree , he was as good as Letterman .

Craig Ferguson has so much natural charm. Everything he says, he means. I miss watching him every weeknight. Whatever he decides to do or go, I am there.
for any of those people that wondered why Craig had a huge following among the younger age brackets, look no further than the last 3 minutes... man, i can't even begin to express how much i miss his show.
#Assmöde
Nah have you seen what the snowflakes do nowadays?
Noplay yeah, all that demand for fairness and kindness and trying to save the environment. Those damn snowflake.
I think Craig is great - but he's wrong about how "nice" the young are. Two words: "Cancel Culture" puts paid to the idea that they young are "nicer now."
@@jakedunnegan cancel culture is nonsense. Louis CK is still doing gigs. People just don't want to put up with jerks and assholes in their entertainment anymore. That's the entertainment business, public taste dictates what sells.
HEY, KID! GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
He was so great at back and forth banter. His two monologes when his mom and dad died were so heartfelt. You don't see stuff like that much on TV.
I miss Craig so much. His old show is rewatchable. No other late night shows are.
I wish Craig at least had a podcast. I would listen... they could film it and we'd watch to. He's so good for humanity.

It’s almost like he is talking to them and they are talking back. I think it sounds annoying because it’s an actual conversation.
I think they were just mixed wrong (volume too loud on their mics-- good on Craig's mic) -- or they were too close to the mic
Craig was the best ( TUTSIFRUITSI) late night talk show host, especially when Billy Connelly was on, two Scotsman talking about their drinking days.
Man I miss Craig's light night show. His was truly the best. I always loved the over the top flirtations and his little skits. It's funny with youtube his old show still seems to be wildly popular.
Right
Would love nothing more than to see Craig with his own late night show again. But, remember, he's the one who quit. He was ready to do something else.
Just miss how he did the show. The most unscripted feeling late night show of them all. Brilliantly funny in different ways and didn't much care for what anyone thought about how he was doing the show. He did his own thing and made us all laugh along the way.
Right
The last three minutes of this should be played for every popular comedian working today. Craig has a self awareness that most people in showbusiness definitely lack.
and yet when he said the new generation was "kind of kinder" I get the impression he missed the point of "cancel culture". Maybe what he meant was more "inclusive"... oh wait, cancel culture doesn't believe in that either.
@@g4l430 Sure there are people who go overboard and miss the point, always and everywhere. But I'd say that Ferguson is overwhelmingly right. Younger generations today are, from my experience, undeniably doing a million times better a job at being kind and understanding with each other than *any* bloody generation before them. That's what I find from listening to young people instead of trying to tell them what to think. They're surrounded by people with ulterior motives, trying to tell them who they should hate and be afraid of, but they don't give a shit. Meeting someone who lives or thinks differently than them makes them curious to learn more, rather than scared and defensive. Exceptions confirm the rule. But overall it makes me really optimistic about the future of the world.
If you look at who stirs up drama about today's social issues, it's practically never young people, or the people actually affected by the issues. It's groups of permanently enraged old people. Meanwhile, young people just shrug their shoulders and deal with things their way.
As for "cancel culture", I think Daniel Sloss said it best: it's a term used by inferior comedians, as an excuse for when they find that people don't find their material funny anymore, and they're unable to come up with new and better stuff. That's why they're not really "cancelled", as much as they love playing the victim card and claiming how they're being silenced. Actually, they're constantly present on all the events and media channels catering to a certain political persuasion, and audiences there love their minority bashing. They maybe lost their _mainstream_ audience. It's their own decision to moan about it and claim that there's a conspiracy against them, rather than reflecting and asking themselves whether all the people who say their material isn't funny anymore might have a point.
@@DanielSaner The same people that are telling them who to hate and what to think are the ones painting the previous decades as being bloody and hateful.
Such a funny, sensitive, curious and creative mind he has. I miss Craig so much!!
I didn't think I could love Craig more and then he goes and quotes one of my favorite Bowie lines
I so respect Craig because he never acted like he cared what the Network thought. Irreverent and pushing boundaries seemed to come natural to him .

Such a comedy genius. Thanks Craig for all the laughs sir. We miss you on the tele :-( . Come back soon :-)
The last 3 minutes is exactly why Craig is and was a far superior late night host than most that came before him and all since.
He was the absolute best since Johnny Carson. I still watch the reruns on youtube and he's simply hilarious.
Wow, I've been a recent fan of Craig's wit but this interview just showed me his character. It makes me happy because he feels like an older version of myself. I think he's one of those men who maybe had a rough start in life but has redeemed himself and found his way and that gives me hope.
I discovered Craig's show only too late. Thanks to RUclips over the years I have come to appreciate the awesomeness. Easily the best since Carson. A host that was genuine. Miss you Craig Ferguson, thanks for the laughs so far. Miss you too Geoff Peterson.
I miss Craig's show so much, none was quite as authentic nor as comedic as him.

Craig did three Late Night episodes that I would rewatch on RUclips for years: The tributes to his mother and father after they passed and the episode where he said he wasn’t going to make fun of Britney Spears anymore and then went into his prior alcohol abuse stories. So great.

I remember when Ferguson took over the Late Late Show, I would actually make the effort to stay up to watch. Even at the time, you could tell he was the under the radar best late night host. It wasn't just his standup sections that were amazing at the beginning of each show, he was a hilarious interviewer. He could get a kind of mild guest with a topic that would have been a time filler on any other show and turn that little bit into something really enjoyable with the way he could find and coax out humor in anyone.
teared up a little bit when he said "if you wanna change the world, go ahead and change it...they're kinder and more thoughtful"
would love to see more of him (and Geoff and Secretariat) someday, but one can only dream...
I wish he was still part of the late night shows. What he was able to pull off with what little he had to work with was incredible. I'm curious how much more he could have done if he had a bigger budget.
@Pete Alexandrou I think Craig was the best host, but he did the same stuff every night more than anyone. Time for e-mails!

I remember watching you Craig when you were on Drew Carry and thinking how I really disliked your character, and then later, after seeing you on late night tv thinking, seriously they will give these things to anyone.................and then I actually watched it and thought, wow, you're so very clever and spontaneous and your guests were often, mostly to be honest, very sexy, and you were very accommodating to that sexual tension and I really like it. That Bowie reference was so insightful and on point. I agree with him - we've had our turn at making a mess of things, surely they can do no worse!
