I just purchased the Eton Elite 750, and am having fun learning it. I’ll be going today to an old electronics store to purchase wire and connectors to make some kind of long wire. About Trump, with all the complaining we have all done about how large government has gotten, and how we don’t feel represented, I am glad our President didn’t “grow up” in Washington, where he would have to be corrupt to survive. I don’t believe the Framers ever envisioned lifetime politicians-they believed in term limits. As far as restricting travel, I’m very happy that during the early days of the China Virus, in opposition to the political elites, the President shut down air travel to and from affected countries-probably saved millions of lives. As far as Mexico paying for the wall, President Trump never said Mexico would be happy to pay for the wall, he just said they would pay for it. America was losing billions each year due to the crappy NAFTA deal. But now under the USMCA, America will reap enormous financial benefits from Mexico (and Canada) which essentially pays for the wall many times over. I don’t get bent out of shape because Mexico didn’t write a check for the wall, as long as in some form Mexico pays for the wall-and they are doing that now under the USMCA. While I believe you were a bit unfair to President Trump in your opening political monologue, I am glad we live in a country where you are permitted to voice such an opinion. While I don’t agree entirely with that opening, I appreciate your conclusion, that we should give President Trump a chance. Looking back on his 4 years in office, I have been very impressed with the things he actually did accomplish-and no other President, I don’t believe, has done more to benefit America and her interests. I too have come to appreciate the R-1000 after years of using almost every other receiver on Earth. If you can find a R-1000 in NIB, or LNIB condition, it's well worth the investment.
I have a Kenwood R600, a nice small simple yet quite good receiver. Hope you have enjoyed your R1000. Also, you are a very forgiving and optimistic person. I saw a fraud occupying the White House on January 16th, 2016!

Your Kenwood is a thing of beauty, it looks like a precision built rig and even at thirty-five years old I expect it will outlive your Grundig. Thump is finding out that being president is NOT the same thing as being C.E.O. of a corporation; there is no comparison. He can't issue orders with no opposition. Irrational knee-jerk decisions will be shot down by congress every time--thank God! What a fiasco this administration is. I very much enjoy this channel. I am not a serious collector, but I have accumulated a few goodies over the years, for example a Colleen B Kennedy tube set circa 1910. Yes it still works after a hundred years. It is a "short wave" receiver, meaning it receives frequencies up to about eighty meters. (Wow-Wee! At the time that was practically microwave) I also have a small collection of SHTF radios both for broadcast and communication purposes. I feel we in the United States are at least temporarily strapped to a malfunctioning, runaway rollercoaster with Sybil at the controls, Unfortunately those rigs may become damnably necessary.

The 750 is nothing but expensive junk. Overloads, too much sensitivity, filters way too wide. Stations come in on top of each other. Dont buy one.
