    I had the privilege to meet Toyah she was on my auntie’s farm in Salisbury she is such a lovely person so down to earth and friendly to talk to as I say it was a privilege to meet her she’s not like the rest of the popstars who wouldn’t even give you the time of day and it’s good to see that her and Robert are so happy together

    Toyah is a Kate Bush fan and the two are friends. I was crazy about anything Toyah and still am. First saw her on uk tv show Shoestring, where I was hooked when she sang the track Danced, one of my all time favourites. Saw her as my first gig ever in Bristol Colston Hall, Changeling tour...mesmerized. Live no one can come close to her. Love and hugs to Toyah.

    Ah, the early days of pop videos......when they REALLY were imaginative - if abit leftfield and slightly bonkers at times. At least they were original. Those were the days when everyone wanted a 'surreal' pop video.....from Toyah to early Eurythmics.......and Adam Ant to Ultravox. I suppose looking back, the 80's was the decade for the 'surreal' pop video. After this groups became more interested in making more realistic videos....and the magic as gone. 1980's videos are escapist and fantastical. Best of all they're still great to watch today.

      Any new medium goes through an early explosion of novelty and experimentation, but then settles down to those forms that make the most money and gets rather samey. Computer games is another great example.

      there's a good reason the style of the 80s was left behind so staunchly and quickly. nothing about it is timeless.

    • @robtyman4281
      @robtyman4281 3 года назад +12

      @@Brandon-cv9uh I disagree with you, but then I remember the 80's as I was around then. I'm assuming you weren't? Anyway, the best 80's music is from the first half of that decade (1980 to 1984). After this the music got blander, less innovative and more forgettable. Some of the music from the early years of the 80's is absolutely timeless! ...and could be written today.

    As a long time fan of Toyah, I had the great pleasure of doing personal security for Her at one of Her concerts some years ago. Despite being full on in Her videos and having a huge stage presence, I found Toyah to be quite a shy person, who did not seem to relish the attention She received while signing various pieces of merchandise thrust in front of Her. Eventually this stopped and She took My arm and quietly asked if I could return Her backstage to collect a few belongings, then escort her to Her car parked outside the venue, We chatted briefly, She thanked Me, gave Me a hug then got into Her car and drove off, I had expected Her to be whisked away by someone else, but this just proved Toyah is is an independent woman. Great memories. Thankyou Toyah.

Somehow, this amazing song passed me by in the '80s, and I only got to know it in later years. My fave Toyah cut. LOVE the chorus! So uplifting and soaring. She has such a unique voice. Hazel O'Connor is another similar singer.

    My favourite song as a punk teenager. It's been years since I saw this. Could never find it on here so cheers for the upload 😆
