just flip the rear on this bike and it'll give you more slack, they literally designed it this way. plus why give up the mullet? its the best setup and the geo on this is perfect
Love to see you on a mullet set up! I'm excited to see what you think of riding a 29 inch front wheel on an all mountain/enduro bike after a few rides.
Dude, adjust the geometry - lower the bottom bracket via the flip chip in the back and slacken the headtube with the angle cups that should come with the bike. In that way I feel waaay more confident on my Levo pro on the gnarly stuff and pretty much everywhere! Give it a try!
When I started out freeriding sometime in the late 1990's I bought my first MTB video on VHS. It was called "Shift" and my favorite segment was Wade Simmons on his Rocky Mountain Pipeline. I watched it so many times so that I could imitate his riding style. That's pretty cool that you got to ride with him and Vanderham!

Watch your belly grow... 😂 Seriously you'll love it for certain situations, my son had a turbo levo alloy and we sold it but I was very tempted to keep it these things are worth big bucks for being a fourth bike...
Only had one opportunity to ride an e-bike and it was amazing hopefully i will have the chance to get one in the future😁 Love the video and that specialized looks and sure rides like a dream!❤
Soooo good, the whips feel more natural, you get to enjoy every trail from top to bottom, you cover way more ground in the same amount of time you'd normally ride. Ebike the world
I never thought id get an e bike but when i tried a kenovo sl, i was sold. I turn it off for the decents/jumps and back on for the climbs. It weighs about the same as my bike did 10 years ago, so its like the best of both worlds. I wish it were aluminum so i could really send it without worrying about crashing but overall its like a mini dh bike one day(off) and a xc bike(on) the next.
I have the same bike have have sense added a cascade long link with Ohlin's coil and an 170mm fork up front and boy did it transform the bike! Last night was also my first ride on 155 cranks and I'm already in love with that change too. I love everything about this bike.
Dude you love those big old heavy DH bikes from back in the day so an e-bike isn’t a big switch but they’re awesome on the uphill! I bought the Canyon Torque ON mullet and I love it, I haven’t been able to kill the large capacity battery yet and have done some epic 30-35 mile rides with it getting mega DH! Enjoy!
Good to see some emtb content too. Try to ask Specialized to send you the Kenevo too after you'r done with this bike. That bike has all you wished for in this video - 27.5'' wheels, 180mm travel and even a dual crown fork. Should be a win win deal both for you and Specialized since your audience would appreciate seeing you on it :)
Sweet ride, vid and deal with them fronting it to you for a couple months. And for peeps that say emtbing isn't work, throwing a 50lbs+ bike around down a mountain works the upper body/core pretty hard, let alone the crazy tech climbs you can do/try now. And yeah, 170mm/160mm is the min I'd go with if purchasing a new ebb, but 160mm/150mm didn't seem to hold you back too much 😎
E-bikes are great! Especially when you live in a hill-ridden area like me :) And you get to gather enough speed uphill to do fun little jumps on the side of the road!
you could do 180mm fork with a 27.5 wheel. gives same atc measure and preserves geo completely. You are in for a steep HA on full compression but the rest of the time it's like a 27.5 with more travel (using the 29" fork). I did it with my Orbea Rise and loved it.
Hell yeah! No hate here. I have a Levo myself and love it. More miles, more smiles. That's a pretty basic model, so if you can, upgrade the parts. Also, I have the long travel Cascade link which increased my rear suspension from 150mm to 165mm. And I increase my fork to 170mm. So it's now 170/165 travel. Let's see you send that Levo!
Similar experience. Bought a Devinci e Troy 29er to go w the Troy 27.5 acoustic. The small bike is way easier to ride double black tech on but Big E is awesome for long adventure rides, quick laps or when the weather is too hot for long climbs.
I have a Kenevo when not on the demo, it's a whole new world of awesomeness. There are 2 types of bikers, die hard analog guys, and those that are having a lot more fun. LOL! (just jokes fellas!)
Jordan. I’m curious. Why do you turn the motor off on the DH? I ride an ebike, and I’m typically going faster downhill than the motor allows, so the power has no affect on the DH.
@@JordanBoostmaster Pretty sure you can customize the levels of assist on that thing. I set my low setting to feel similar (or maybe slightly more power) than my normal bike. That seems to cancel out the drag you get from it being off. Also nice for riding with people with regular bikes.
My local mtb Park, Highland, has Wednesduro nights and my first time, I was climbing for my first lap, and these two dudes on e-bikes did three laps before I got to the top.
A couple things. 1, there is no reason to turn the bike off on the descents, so don’t. There will be times when you need the power to boost up and over obstacles or off a jump or out of a tight turn or an uphill transition. 2, get a long travel ebike. Mine is 190/200mm travel with a full power Bosch race motor and it’s full 27.5! It’s by far the best bike I’ve ever ridden/owned. Even better than my full DH bike.
ymmv but I leave assist on low while going down but we have a lot of grade reversals in my region. Also, getting used to shifting an eMTB takes a bit to get used to but once you are hitting things in the right gears for the motor's power band it is hard to find places to stall out and I'm not even very good in general - I used to race a bunch of XC marathon category races but that is a totally different riding style and short travel, even hard tails sometimes.
Im curious about what geo setup you are using. 160/150 isn’t a ton of travel, but you can’t install the slack headset cup and put the bottom bracket in the low position to make it handle steep and rowdy trails more effectively. Slack headset cup and low bottom bracket gives you a 63.5 head tube angle. That should make the steep stuff feel much better.
E-bikes are awesome, don’t have one yet, just did a demo of the Transition repeater, would love to try the relay as well before buying one. Love my pivot Firebird, but man I get so much more biking done in a day on an E bike
Problems with E bikes is there still using normal mountain bike parts on them that arent strong enough for an extra 20kg so parts ware out faster rims cracking constantly so on! Actually Evan made a great video showing all this and also saying not to use turbo going uphill you could strip the gears on the motor and if its a shimano motor the motherboard isn't protected its just covered in shards metal shavings from the stripped gears sitting roght next to an open motherboard! Absolutely crazy design
eMTB... this is the way! One of the best decisions I've ever made. eMTB actually improved my overall fitness FACT! *I leave mine in "eco" when descending just to get a touch of acceleration otherwise the bike is dead.
Yeah mate, loving life❤ Maybe swap for a Kenevo if you love the power, but want more travel, or the Kenevo SL if you want more travel and a lighter bike as well. Alex (singletracksampler) has the Kenevo SL as well😊
Up the fork to 170mm and get a Cascade link to get the rear end to 160 or 165. With a few lighter parts on the bike, it should handle double blacks just fine. Oh and get better brakes and bigger rotors
Honestly I'm not gonna hate on the eBike because there are cases where A bike like that can make a big difference in what kind of day you have when doing laps. He also doesn't have to ride it 24/7. Knowing Jordan he is going to love this bike but I know that he will still go for the traditional bike sometimes.
So many people say that having the extra weight at the bottom bracket gives better loop out/otb stability on jumps (lower center of g). As a full-on, jump-centric hoser, did you notice any difference in that regard? Guess you'll find out at Whistler...
I don't know if I noticed that as much but I guess that can be true a bit, I definitely prefer to have a lighter bike for jumping though! It's way harder to give style and whips with so much weigh

There are assholes on e and without e but if people are riding that's good to me and especially for those with less conditioning can keep up and enjoy rides with friends again. What's not cool about that?
The thing about E-Bikes is that today everyone gets one never uses it offroad, never services it and then they wonder why it doesnt work anymore and thats just one really good bike gone to waste and thats why I don't like certain E-Bikers. but people who get an E-Bike but still own and ride regualr bikes are completley normal and should be respected like every other mountainbiker gets treated as well. But still every time I see an E-Biker next to me or on the road I always try to be faster than them and I have no god damn clue why. It just feels good to me :)
Im not understanding how decending that double black is a suspension travel issue. It doesnt appear you are going at all fast enough to get remotely close to bottoming out the suspension in the video. I could see the weight being an issue if you arent used to it, but the travel doesnt seem to come into play - at least in the portion you showed us.

And honestly if I could only afford one, I'd just get an e-bike since I'm mostly riding park style trail centers.
I thought from thumbnail he just meant mullet and i had no idea y people might be mad😂
Before I even watch this…I know you’re going to love it.
