If you haven't seen Andy live in a black tuxedo singing Words you really should. He's growing a beard and not only resembles Barry but sounds like him. Barry and Andy even had identical birthmarks.

Love this so beautiful. I agree with you on your favorite album being Main Course, it's such a wonderful album. I love all things Bee Gees. I have been around for all these years with them. I love and respect their genius ability. They have provided me with all the wonderful music from their start. I have listened to this many times. A favorite of mine is a ballot .. I'm a Boomer and Bee Gees songs formed the background color to my life. Love them. Best group ever. Having said that...while I like this song...I don't think it compares to Too Much Heaven which I think is on another plane in all respects. I'm no music expert. Just a fan. Thanks for this analysis!
It’s a good song but I prefer Andy’s song Why. That being said I would pick a number of Bee Gees songs such as Fanny Be Tender with my love, How Deep Is Your Love, staying Alive, To Much Heaven, Nights on Broadway, and Words to name a few. I do not think it is even Andy’s best song, Arrow Through the Heart, Why, Don’t Throw It all Away Our Love, and I’ll Be Dreaming On would all be strong candidates!
@@laurieshreffler5028You should be dancing, Tragedy, Imortality, One, (Reaching Out) didn't get the credit it deserved in my opinion As for Andy he was an absolute gem 💎 ❤️ 💖 but remember many of his songs were written by Barry or Andy and Barry with the other brothers helping out with his background vocals and arrangements as well. Andy, had he made it, would have been an excellent Bee Gee.We all have been robbed of some excellent music, so sad. This song that is being demonstrated just shows the true raw talent that all the brothers have, Andy's part, being included in the harmonies made for being and creating such a beautiful song. I wish we could have had more of that. Such a lost. Love those Bee Gees an Andy Forever ❤❤❤❤
Oh, I think Everlasting Love was very nice and a joy to hear. I feel that song deserved an honorable mention. I give Andy's vocals at least a 9 due to how easily he blended in making 4 part harmony with his brothers whom he wasn't in the singing world as long as they had been, but easily blended in as if he always sang with them. You gotta love him🥰 The Bee Gees And Andy Forever ❤❤❤❤ 💯🫡🫡🫡🫡
As someone who will love the Bee Gees for a lifetime, I find it really hard to pick just one song! However, I'd have to say that "Main Course", "Children of the world" and "Spirits having flown" albums really showcase their brilliance!
I have know this song since a very little girl…. I owned the 45, the album and latter on CD’s. The Bee Gees are my all time favorite, I do love how people are really starting to appreciate their fine collection of work. There were times in my life where I felt I stood alone in my admiration of the Gibb Catalog of music. There are so so many songs that are just perfect. On the After Dark album is a song that I find to be one of my all time favorite songs. Someone I Ain’t. It was a B side to a single released from that album. I listened to that B side more than the A side. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of The Bee Gees.
If you listen to Andy Gibb sing "Words" you will have a new appreciation for his singing range and powerful delivery. He sings this live and is easy to find. Thank you for taking the time to delve in to the Bee Gees and Andy Gibb.

Andy wasn't a Bee Gee technically, but his big brothers helped him out a lot. If he'd been a bit older I am sure the 4 brothers would have sung together. Please stop saying it's dated or of it's time. Great music is eternal.
There are many bee gees song which are forgotten but are absolute Gem like Children of the world, Fanny, run to me , he's lier etc. Please review them too
Great review. From Australia and I have been listening to the Bee Gees since they started in the 1950's when they played on the local tv station as kids. Its not easy to compare bands in different eras. All I can say is that they are in a class all on their own.
The brother Gibbs could make a nursery rhyme sound like Angels singing...growing up in the 70's the Bee Gees were every thing...gorgeous men with so much talent that compared to no other group...of course there was the Beatles that I also loved however the Bee Gees had something special, unquie, extraordinary that no other had...5 decades of writing all their songs and the melody even writing hit songs for other artists...it takes a tremendous amount of talent and creativity for some one to do what the brother Gibbs has done over the years...the Bee Gees music will live on and forever be in my heart...
I also like the Album “Greenfields” Barry released in 2021. A compilation of BeeGee’s hits that Barry sings with a number of artists including Dolly Parton, Brandi Carlile, Keith Urban and many more. So nostalgic!
I first discovered the Bee Gees and Andy a few years ago and really liked them and, then, sometime in 2021, became obsessed with them and have since listened to all the music, officially released and unofficially released, solo work included, I could find from them, plus, a lot of the songs they wrote for other people. I think they've been my top favorite artists ever since then. So, yes, I've heard this song before - many times, in fact! And, I love it, though it's not really one of my favorites. And, I'm about to turn 23. And, by the way, this is the first video I've seen from your channel. I'm definitely interested in seeing more of your videos. New subscriber earned!
This song aside from its beauty and awesomeness is very special to me because if I'm not mistaken it's the only studio recording of all 4 brothers' voices together on a song. Even though the Bee Gee harmonies were recorded before the song was given to Andy it is still a big deal to me. It broke my heart when Barry revealed that Andy was going to become an official member of the group after 1 more solo album. You win again because you gave me goosebumps again:)
“You Win Again” I see what you did there! If it makes any difference, the harmonies were re-recorded with Andy. I’m glad it has a special place for you!
The entire track (save for Andy’s lead) is the full, unedited Bee Gees work-up from the “Spirits Having Flown” sessions - instrumentals and all. They scrubbed out Barry’s original main line - and dubbed Andy on top. The original demo was titled “Midnight”; not sure how it evolved into “Desire”, but they probably started with some random phrasing that eventually began to sound like the title as they kept working on it.
@@teknikolordreams Somewhere I saw a interview where someone said that the Bee Gees would reject a song for themselves and then give it to Andy. Then Andy would have a hit with it. As an aside, I suppose that is why he felt like he could never measure up to his brothers despite his success. I think that if he had lived to become a Bee Gee himself he would have seen he was a chip off the old block. I think his addiction stopped him from mentally growing into those big shoes that he certainly could have filled had he allowed himself to do so. And his voice blended with theirs was so distinct. The harmonies would be mind blowing, not to mention his lead vocal. I feel like we were robbed of some extra Gibb brothers magic. These guys were lightning in a bottle in my opinion. All 4 of them.
i’ve always thought this song was incredibly overlooked, so it’s great you’re shining some light on it! i’ve always felt the same about Rest Your Love On Me, or My Destiny!fantastic video, you had some really interesting things to say, and i cant wait for more bee gees from you!
REST YOUR LOVE would make a great topic all by itself. Super creative lyrics, and their only song in the Country chart Top 40 sung by them. I can’t help but wonder whether the profits from the song were donated to charity, along with Too Much Heaven. How does such diverse music come from the same songwriter??? Such an injustice to label them as disco.
@@dp3396 Agreed, I love that song so much! Very heartfelt and sincere in both lyrics and delivery. One thing I love most about the bee gees, especially when they were at peak success, was their ability to write and release music that they were proud of and loved, regardless if iyt was what the public wanted or not. i mean, it's so strange that they would release a pure country song when the charts were screaming for more falsetto, R&B bee gees music, but it's a testament to their creativity and artistic integrity! love these guys so much
While the expert was on I remembered that Barry said none of them could read music. They would sing the song to the band….He was now, in his seventies, starting to learn that. Not sure how far he got… the interview was from a few years ago.
Andy was my crush for years, so cute plus the Bee Gees sound, literal perfection to my teenage self. Thanks for sharing and appreciating these massive talents, they deserve all of the recognition they get and then some!
I have this on one of my vinyl albums, and I listen to it often!!! There are Times when you can't tell Barry's Voice From Andy's especially When they are singing in Falsetto!!! 🌹💖🥰🙏
Just a suggestion for you to listen to Sweetheart off the Cucumber Castle album. I love that song. It was only Barry and Maurice and I always thought that song sounded so country. I believe Barry has said he loves country music. They had much talent; so many different sounds!
Desire is a great song, but the background vocals are mostly only Barry (as he was also the only brother doing the layered harmonies in Samantha Sang's version of Emotions). Andy was kind of Barry's mini me, about half a foot shorter and 12 years younger but he and Barry were the only lefties of the family. However, his voice was nowhere near as broad in range or as strong as Barry's. As producer Alby Galuthen said in the book "Tales of the brothers Gibb "Andy's falsetto was nowhere near Barry's." Andy had a lower, huskier, sound to his voice and his range was not as big as Barry's. I personally always thought his voice was much better suited to songs of his first album, Flowing Rivers. By the time Andy recorded the album After Dark (which has Desire on it), sadly his voice by then had so deteriorated because of his addiction that most of the songs were sung by Barry and they later mixed Andy's voice in to those recordings to make a blend. You can also read that in the book Tales of the Brothers Gibb in which among others producers Alby Galuthen and Karl Richardson speak about this. Andy died of myocarditis - which is an inflammation of the heart - on March 10, 1988, 5 days after his 30th birthday. His heart had been weakened by his drug addiction over the years which, by the way, was also the main reason for his split from Victoria Principal. He also had a congenital heart problem that was later also discovered in Barry and Barry's second son Ashley. I am sure you already know songs like Dreamin' on ruclips.net/video/-KdBVKcSSSw/видео.html which is kind of a duet with Barry (and where you can clearly hear how different their individual voices are). Finally a few photos of Barry and Andy: i.postimg.cc/jS6n3Jkv/Barry-Andy.jpg and i.postimg.cc/TwnPh8M0/82c126fc42a35d3b737867af41338199.jpg and the 4 brothers with their mother i.postimg.cc/FRNMbwkD/b9b2561eadffee11347573c97063c2f8-zpsd89478eb.jpg
Main Course was a favorite of mine too but then I liked pretty much everything they did. Still Waters was another awesome album as well. Most people only know the disco stuff but they were so much more before and after. Some of their best songs were never released as singles.
Just the other day Barry Gibb gave me a love hug emoji on his Facebook. Whilst in the UK, I visited Robin’s resting place in 2019 a sad special moment for me. The Spirits album is vocally outstanding.
I know this song well and every time I hear it my heart is filled with so much joy. I get lost in this song. Absolutely one of their greatest songs. I am a true fan and have loved them since I was little. I have so much respect for for Barry Gibb. I am their #1 fan!!!!!
I was a Bee Gee music lover before I knew it was them as a kid. All the Gibb brothers are so talented and versatile. I love how they maintain their unique style throughout the times. 💕
As a fellow 90s kid who recently got more invested in their material after the release of the documentary "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart", it's honestly so great to know others getting into this stuff as well! Really love the input including the music theory segment
One thing that always gets me is how they create in the son so you can almost pretend you are there, they set the scene so well. And AH the harmonies!!!
Thanks for sharing this. I love these guys. I wanna go back to those times forever. I found out yesterday that before Andy started his music career here Freddie Mercury had him lay down some high notes tracks because he couldn't hit the notes. Pretty cool.
Love what you're doing.......many people....older and younger just listen to their 'disco' era work and write them off as lightweights....hope your work helps to enlighten people....otherwise a brilliant body of work will eventually be lost.......thanks so much.....from a dedicated beegees fan.......
I’ve heard the BeeGees talk about their philosophy of purpose of their compositions. Purpose of the song, is most important. chorus (important), style (usually romantic ballads) . Barry says they keep a recorder with Mostly Barry now to capture inspirations which can come at any time. I believeBarry’s lyrics are poetry right up there with Keats. In the early days their producer wanted simple cheesy because he believed the public would understand more artistic lyrics. I think I heard Barry say he believes in bringing the listener in at the beginning and gradually drawing the into the intense middle chorus. I love the ability to compose ,play and sing all music genres Country western, rock, pop, Motown, of course Disco. Their are and Barry still is , more prolific than the Beatles. I believe their music comes from deep inside them. These artists are very under rated. How many have they composed, I wonder? Not just for themselves but many great artists for hit songs every time. Did you know Barry was very close friends with Michael Jackson? Michael was God father to one of Barry’s sons. 01/02/23
If you haven't already, check out the books, "Decades: The Bee Gees In the 60's" and "Decades: The Bee Gees In the 70's." Both are exhaustive looks at every track and every album they recorded during those periods. They also include unreleased gems including the abandoned solo albums from 1970. Highly recommended.
I LOVE this sort of nerdy reaction!!! I always learn something from them. I would think Andy’s vocal abilities can’t really be judged by any of the songs on After Dark. He was in pretty bad shape due to serious drug and alcohol abuse. I’m thinking, even if sober, the inflammation from myocarditis made it physically difficult to fully inflate the lungs, and snorting coke couldn’t have helped, either. Those in studio said Andy was in no condition to be recording, so Barry had to step in to complete the album for release, which is the reason his vocals are heard so much on the album. Andy had a 4 album deal with RSO... of which his 3 older brothers were shareholders. Barry took responsibility for completing the album and agreed that the 4th album could be a best of compilation. Andy was then notified by that his contract was completed, and he was being dropped from the label. In contrast, Barry was previously only involved in Andy’s songs that would be singles, and the rest were written by Andy himself and Barry wasn’t usually in the studio for their recording or producing. IMO, FLOWING RIVERS gives the truest picture of Andy himself - the individual singer/songwriter, and his raw, natural talent... before fame and addiction. Can’t wait to see what you do next!!
I’m in total agreement with you. I would like your opinion on “Until” from their Spirits having flown. It’s one of my most favorites but then again it seems that I have a hard time deciding on a favorite. They’re all so fantastic. This is a short song by Barry, kind of different music but Barry’s voice is outstanding in my opinion, thank you.
Good talkin' again! I'm one of those, having every song of them, also selftaped demos. One of these is a track called 'Saying Goodbye'. Barry made a demo of it for the Kenny Rogers album 'Eyes That See In The Dark', but wasn't recorded on it. Was given lateron to Everly Brothers, but they didn't cut it as well. So maybe, listen to that song, so you can make up your mind for deciding to check it out. You can find it on YT.
A couple of my favorites are "The First of May" and 'Rings Around the Moon". I lost track of them for a while but have been trying to catch up. I really enjoy listening to them tell their history on documentaries. They can be really funny, but still love them. Thank you for playing their earlier music.
@@TheMusicKingdomDid you ever hear Maurice do "First of May" with Lulu (his x wife) shortly before he died? It is my favorite performance of that song. Gave me goosebumps!
New subscriber here, man 👊🏻 Love the Bee Gees and I was born in 1979, and then loved their songs when I was in college (1998 I guess). Your channel will be successful, I know. Good luck!
I remember the song. I remember Andy’s album After Dark containing it. I remember calling Sound Warehouse every 2-3 days to see if the album was in stock yet. I remember those wonderful days of listening to The Bee Gees and Andy Gibb. (And I remember the Bee Gees’s Spirits Having Flown tour stopping in Austin Texas and having seats on “the Barry side” of the stage!)
I saw them in NYC at MSG on that tour / my very first concert - we were in nose bleed seats BEHIND them, so I stared at their butts all night - I am not complaining! Still a magical memory for me!
Thanks for your wonderful video. I must have listened to this song hundreds of times back in the day; but first time that I heard the demo and didn’t know that it was cut from the spirits having flown album (which I consider their best).

Bee Gees are timeless and yes Andy was taken to soon. I know when hearing someone talk about machine & macanices they are young. Our music 50's, 60's,'s, 70's you can't compare with todays music. We didn't electronically "help" sound and vocals. You needed to really be able to write, sing and produce without "help". Too much "help" these days. You don't know if it's real or not. Can't compare music now with than. Music was part of your life and memories. It's Total different now-a-days.

I have loved the Bee Gees since I first heard them with New York Mining Disaster. I even sought out their older music from when they were in Australia. I am 70 years old and I have seen them in concert 4x throughout the years. Thank you for bringing this song to my attention. Also where did you get the photo of the three of them that is hanging on the wall behind you? 🥰

@@TheMusicKingdom Thank you very much! Also you have very good taste in music. To me The Gibb Brothers were the best. So glad we have so much videos and recordings of them. I hope Barry and his sister Leslie are keeping well.
Did you notice that Andy Gibb does very little solo work in this song. All the verses are harmonies between him and Barry. Andy sings on his own doing improvising.
I love the Bee Gee’s. But if you play this song on ITunes. Go to lyrics and the songwriter is at the end of the lyrics. It says only one songwriter and that is Maurice Gibb. Mo deserves so much credit for things that went to one brother mainly. Not saying names. I love them all. Love this song. But if Mo wrote it. Let’s just say that he did. He deserves that. Awesome song. Rest in Paradise Andy, Maurice and Robin ♥️
Some people say the Bee Gees have been #1. Others say Beatles are #1. Personally, I put the Bee Gees as first, #1, then the Beatles. Top two groups of all time. Third, the Moody Blues. Love them also.
One of my favorite albums that wasn't a critical success was "Life in a Tin Can" - the best of which are "While I Play", "I Saw a New Morning" and "Come Home Johnny Bridie!" Love your channel!! Just subbed.
@@TheMusicKingdom Baby Boomer here...But. Even though I am prejudiced toward the singers/songwriters of the late 60's and early 70's (James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, CSN & Young, Kris Kristofferson, (yes even 90's Country) etc. - I do find musical brilliance in an eclectic mix of Disturbed (their "softer metal i.e. "The Light", "Reason to Fight"), James Blunt and Ed Sheeran. I guess I just love good music with lyrics I can relate to and voices that need no auto-tune or pitch correction whether it be in studio or live. I hope you continue with your reaction journey. You have great potential.
From the title of your video, I thought the song would be much more obscure. Yes, I'm very familiar with this song. I don't consider it a highlight of Andy's album, maybe because I heard it too much on the radio back then. I had not heard the demo before, though, so that was cool. Some thoughts on your thoughts: I could be misunderstanding you, but it sounds like Production = technology to you. Granted, there may not have been much production involved in early mono or even stereo recordings when a whole band played/sang together at the same time in the studio. But certainly by the time of "Desire," industry standards of analogue multi-tracking was quite evolved. The Bee Gees and their producers Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson were highly skilled in their "primitive" techniques. I think this deserves a higher rating than a 7. True, much more can be done now with digital production, but that's almost cheating! You can't compare the two eras. As far as the Lyrics, you are correct in saying that the song sounds like it was created without any lyrics in mind. That's the way they (almost) always wrote...music first, then lyrics. Next, Vocals: Again, maybe I'm misunderstanding. It seems that you think a singer must show off to get a high rating. There are many fantastic singers that don't belt it or perform vocal gymnastics. Lastly, I think it's kinda funny that you rated this a 9 for Originality when the Bee Gees themselves cut it from their "Spirits" album because they thought it sounded a bit like "Too Much Heaven." This is probably the longest comment I've ever written! I hope I don't sound adversarial. I just found your reaction/review intriguing.
Hey Wayne! In my experience, casual Bee Gees fans (younger-gens especially) have no idea this song (or even Andy) exists. Yes, by production I mean tech. Not comparing eras though, or it would be lower than a 7. (I just didn’t think it was stellar like a Pink Floyd song or ELO for example). Lyrically I’m judging the song itself, vs the context of how the artists may have written them in general. You’re not misunderstanding vocals. But it’s simply about the vocal performance in whichever song I review, not about show-offs. Originality for me is a 9 because it is so close to Too Much Heaven, which is as inspired as it gets. (I hear what you mean about that influencing originality though.) Glad you found the content intriguing. Hope this helps!
This track was written for the Bee Gees Spirits Having Flown album but they felt it was too much much like the title track and so they used “reaching out” instead on the LP. So this is pretty much Andy singing to his brothers backing track.
I love the Bee gees I feel in love with them along tiime ago but I fell in love with Robin and the song was storm 💞 and that was the voice that got me Robin and that was it for me and i love is and all was robin gibb my. Song bird 🐦🐦🐦 ok that's me ❤❤❤❤
Try "I Still Love You..... " or "Lamplight"...Or the Odessa album....really obscure but perfect musically! I love this song as well...the Bee Gees sync perfectly harmonically, right? AND they wrote their own music!!! (With help with the musicians who notated it all!!!)
Desire sounds more like Spirits (Having Flown) mixed with Edge of the Universe to me than Too Much Heaven. But what an amazingly wonderful masterpiece. ❤️
One - listening to the Bee Gees it’s like listening to God! I became an instant subscriber. After hearing you say that, it’s awesome finding other people that love the Bee Gees as much as I do.❤
Great video. As a mega fan of the Gibb Brothers work, I was aware that this is a Bee Gees with Barry's lead vocal replaced with Andy. I would agree "Main Course" is their best album and not "Spirits Having Flown" just for the reason of the amount of falsettos. In 1975, the falsetto was used as an accent to the songs and by 1979 it was being used almost exclusively. This was a pretty big hit for Andy in 1980, even with his rather compromised vocals.
Did you know that ALL the Bee Gees' creations began with the music, with lyrics always coming last, as you can hear on the demo? That's just how they "wrote."
Main Course is my absolute favourite album. Every song is a gem. Followed by Size Isn't Everything. They had at least 3 different careers....it is impossible to pick a favourite song. It changes from day-to-day for me. Thanks for spreading the word about the fabulous Brothers Gibb.
The Bee Gees, in most cases, wrote the lyrics to fit the melody. In this case it was obvious one of them had a melody, and needed to get it down. Once the melody was recorded, lyrics were made to fit the melody

One of my favorites is an older song "Cherry Red." The Bee Gees great harmonies are on full display in this song.
Rob we still miss you n brother mo. STILL.🩵😇🩵😇😁😁
If you listen to Andy Gibb sing "Words" you will have a new appreciation for his singing range and powerful delivery.
He sings this live and is easy to find. Thank you for taking the time to delve in to the Bee Gees and Andy Gibb.
Andy’s performance of Words is absolutely beautiful. ❤
OH YES THERE IS MO FURTHER ADUE OR FIDSHTERMEMT THR BEE GEES WITH ANDY GIBB ARE WONDERFUL SINGERS INCOMPARABLE WITH THEIR TALENT WISDOM AND EVERYTHING THEY POSSESSED GOD GIVEN TSLENTD HES EMLY BLESDINGS AND THEY ARE LOVED AND IDOLIZED BY MUSIC LOVERS WORLD WIDE ALTHO I HAVE NOT SEEN THEM PERSO ALLY ON YHRIR CONCERT SO UNLUCKY BECAUSE THERE WAS NEVER A CHANCE FOR ME TO SEE THEM ON STAGE I WONDER IF THEY HAVE HAD A TOUR TO THE PHILIPPINED LIKE CELIN DION HOWEVER I AM HAPPY AND FEEL CONTENDED SEE ING THEM PERFORM ON MY RUclips CHANNEL THANK YOU SIR FOR UOADING IN YOUR CHANNEL SONGS OF THE BEE GEES INCLUDING ANDY GIBN
His live performance of words was almost at par with his big brother's.....
I think “Words” was written when Barry was very young.
@@winnieg100it was.
Well done. Hope you keep doing obscure Bee Gees songs! I'm personally mostly a fan of their 90s stuff. Alone is a masterpiece.
I LOVE Alone!
Andy wasn't a Bee Gee technically, but his big brothers helped him out a lot. If he'd been a bit older I am sure the 4 brothers would have sung together. Please stop saying it's dated or of it's time. Great music is eternal.
Read in Jan of 88 Barry officially announced Andy would be joining the group. Andy passed in March.
@@conniehodges3848 yes, I saw an interview where Barry said the same thing.
Jennifer....think it was mainly Barry who helped Andy out. The only song Robin & Mo sang on of Andy's was this....& helped write just 3 of his songs.🎼
Desire was a top 10 hit in the US
There are many bee gees song which are forgotten but are absolute Gem like Children of the world, Fanny, run to me , he's lier etc. Please review them too
Great review. From Australia and I have been listening to the Bee Gees since they started in the 1950's when they played on the local tv station as kids. Its not easy to compare bands in different eras. All I can say is that they are in a class all on their own.
LOVE IT! More Bee Gees!!!
The brother Gibbs could make a nursery rhyme sound like Angels singing...growing up in the 70's the Bee Gees were every thing...gorgeous men with so much talent that compared to no other group...of course there was the Beatles that I also loved however the Bee Gees had something special, unquie, extraordinary that no other had...5 decades of writing all their songs and the melody even writing hit songs for other artists...it takes a tremendous amount of talent and creativity for some one to do what the brother Gibbs has done over the years...the Bee Gees music will live on and forever be in my heart...
the harmony & the surprising progression in “ my desire is glowing in your mi-I-I-ind “ - so so delicious! Love The Bee Gees!
@@TheMusicKingdom Yes, it does make a difference. Thank you ☺️
The entire track (save for Andy’s lead) is the full, unedited Bee Gees work-up from the “Spirits Having Flown” sessions - instrumentals and all.
I’m glad you enjoyed!
One thing I love most about the bee gees, especially when they were at peak success, was their ability to write and release music that they were proud of and loved, regardless if iyt was what the public wanted or not. i mean, it's so strange that they would release a pure country song when the charts were screaming for more falsetto, R&B bee gees music, but it's a testament to their creativity and artistic integrity! love these guys so much
Their story and music as a whole is so fascinating and inspirational... and very entertaining and multi-dimensional. Doesn’t get old.
While the expert was on I remembered that Barry said none of them could read music. They would sing the song to the band….He was now, in his seventies, starting to learn that. Not sure how far he got… the interview was from a few years ago.
I think you will gain a new appreciation of Andy’s voice and vocal range by checking out his live 1981 performance of Words. It’s sublime.
I’m familiar! And I agree, fantastic performance. 💛
@@TheMusicKingdom FYI, I love the picture of the Bee Gees that you have hanging on your wall. It’s one of my favorite pictures of the 3 brothers.
Thank you! It’s one of my absolute favorites too. And appropriate for the kitchen! They’re all seated together around some drinks.
Love Andy 's Album
After Dark.
Andy was my crush for years, so cute plus the Bee Gees sound, literal perfection to my teenage self. Thanks for sharing and appreciating these massive talents, they deserve all of the recognition they get and then some!
Magnificent. They never disappoint.
I have this on one of my vinyl albums, and I listen to it often!!!
There are Times when you can't tell Barry's Voice From Andy's especially When they are singing in Falsetto!!!
🌹💖🥰🙏
Been listening since Sat night fever camr out. I was 10. Still❤❤❤
This guy is right on main course is there best !
Just a suggestion for you to listen to Sweetheart off the Cucumber Castle album. I love that song. It was only Barry and Maurice and I always thought that song sounded so country. I believe Barry has said he loves country music. They had much talent; so many different sounds!
Love the Cucumber Castle LP!
By the time Andy recorded the album After Dark (which has Desire on it), sadly his voice by then had so deteriorated because of
his addiction that most of the songs were sung by Barry and they later mixed Andy's voice in to those recordings to make a blend.
I've read that the vocals on Spirits are mostly Barry.
Best love to the Beegees stars from Taiwan.
I agree 100%, Main Course is a masterpiece.
Have all of Andy's albums. Desire was one of my favourites. Still play his records along with BeeGees regularly
One thing that always gets me is how they create in the son so you can almost pretend you are there, they set the scene so well. And AH the harmonies!!!
Beautiful! The melody sounds familiar. I may have heard it before. Love listening to it now! Thank you for sharing it. ❤️
One more comment. Main Course is my favorite too!
Thanks for sharing this. I love these guys. I wanna go back to those times forever. I found out yesterday that before Andy started his music career here Freddie Mercury had him lay down some high notes tracks because he couldn't hit the notes. Pretty cool.
"Blue Island" is a great song by Bee Gees.
We were definitely robbed of the 4 brothers together. It would have be pure heaven!! ❤
So true & always enjoy reading your comments!
This is awesome!!!! We all get lost in how good they are.
First of May is GORGEOUS.
Hard to believe that these songs were written by teenagers isn't it?
@@TheMusicKingdomDid you ever hear Maurice do "First of May" with Lulu (his x wife) shortly before he died? It is my favorite performance of that song. Gave me goosebumps!
New subscriber here, man 👊🏻 Love the Bee Gees and I was born in 1979, and then loved their songs when I was in college (1998 I guess). Your channel will be successful, I know. Good luck!
Much appreciated! 🙏🏼
How lucky for both of you!

Well said!

Not sure if you have ever heard In the Morning, it’s difficult to find but it is on utube.
This was an awesome video I wonder how familiar you are with their 80s work. I would love to hear your take on “you win again”
Very familiar!

I'm also pretty speechless at just how beautiful this & really all the Bee Gees songs are--thanks much❤️
The way they wrote songs was music first then putting words to fit the music.
Lastly, I think it's kinda funny that you rated this a 9 for Originality when the Bee Gees themselves cut it from their "Spirits" album because they thought it sounded a bit like "Too Much Heaven."
This is probably the longest comment I've ever written!
(I hear what you mean about that influencing originality though.)
Glad you found the content intriguing.
Hope this helps!
This track was written for the Bee Gees Spirits Having Flown album but they felt it was too much much like the title track and so they used “reaching out” instead on the LP.
So this is pretty much Andy singing to his brothers backing track.
Still Waters is my favorite album. Very smooth, R&B sound.
It breaks my heart to think of what we missed out on.
Yes Andy has a great voice but it’s the Bee Gees/Barry’s contribution that elevates this song - always loved this song.

Knew it, loved it! ❤
Main Course is my absolute favourite album. Every song is a gem. Followed by Size Isn't Everything. They had at least 3 different careers....it is impossible to pick a favourite song. It changes from day-to-day for me. Thanks for spreading the word about the fabulous Brothers Gibb.
After Main Course, another of my favorites is Mr Natural!🎶
The track "nights on Broadway" is absolutely fantastic!!!! Makes me revisit all I ever thought about the Bee Gees... tks!!
Fantastic production, podcast-like. Congratulations from a die hard fan.
I guess I am a die hard Bee Gees fan because I knew the song Desire. I have heard it on Andy's album along with others.
Me too! Im 56 now!! Been a fan since 1977!!
I know this one, although the song skipped a lot. Perhaps, I had a crush on him.
The Bee Gees, in most cases, wrote the lyrics to fit the melody. In this case it was obvious one of them had a melody, and needed to get it down. Once the melody was recorded, lyrics were made to fit the melody
