They were beyond incredible. I watched an interview not too long ago and Barry was talking about how much he and Andy had in common. They were more similar in personality and interests than Robin and Maurice were. Barry said he and Andy had identical birthmarks. I thought that was pretty amazing. And he said none of them ever learned to read music. So amazing. They were definitely made to write songs and sing them. I have over 160 favorite songs by them. They make my heart smile, even when they sing about heartbreak it just automatically puts me in a great mood.

I never appreciated them until the pandemic when I spent hours on U-tube listening and watching everything I could about them. I am Barry’s age but just somehow missed most of their music as the years went by. If I knew then what I do now, I would have been a groupie and gone to as many concerts as I could. They are incredibly talented and they so loved what they were doing.

My first encounter the brothers Gibb was in the early 60s when I who was considered a decent singer who nobody ever heard of was beaten in a talent quest in Australia by 2 11 and a 14 yr old trio named the BEE GEES their harmony was amazing , the song they won with was MY OLD MAN'S A DUSTMAN and they just blew the audience away they went on to sing on all the musical variety tv shows and eventually after releasing one of their first original songs SPICKS AND SPECKS that was a huge hit in Australia decided to move to England for a bigger audience than Australia had to offer with only19 million people and the rest is history . They have had hits in every decade since . Your younger subscribers may not have heard of them , but their music once heard is never forgotten . They were truly gifted songwriters and some of their lyrics are pure poetry , they have written songs for mega stars such as Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand, Dian Warwick ,Dolly Parton ETC and of course Celine Dion who sings my favourite BEE GEES song IMORTALITY . Don't forget when you do your extended history of the BEE GEE'S to mention their younger brother Andy who was a huge star on his own but was taken from us too soon and just when they were looking to integrate him into the group . A great reaction keep them coming

It is if you don't know much about them or heard many of their songs. But if you are a real fan, you know the story behind them, look at the stats they have and the number of chart topping hits, then it becomes fact. I found out yesterday that after they broke up and when Robin went to talk to Barry for the first time in almost two years after they agreed to get to get back together they started writing the song How Do You Mend A Broken Heart and got Maurice and finished it. Now the song really makes sense. I Started A Joke was about Robin what Robin had said at the time he quit and he annihilated himself. Which now the song makes perfect sense to me. I would live those decades over a thousand times.

  • @Pamsmith59

When Robin (at 6:04) breaks into "I Can't See Nobody" we're reminded of how devastating it must have been to him to have producers and managers suggest that ballads were a thing of the past, because that's where Robin's voice shone. Those dark years of 72, 73 and 74 for the Gibb brothers only meant that they'd be open to Arif Marden's suggestions of adding more funk and R&B to their songwriting. And, man, Mr. Natural and Main Course display that in spades! Which all, of course, led to the band's dizzying success with the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever. Just goes to remind us all that the lows in our lives are just as significant as the highs.

Just one thing I'd like to add to this lovely video..... Please keep in mind the Gibb brothers were composing and recording their follow up album " Night Fever" in France when Robert Stigwood (their manager) came by for songs for a film. They already had recorded 8 (!) songs. From those songs just a few were selected for what would become Saturday Night Fever, founded on a book. And yes, their music was a blend of Soul, Rhythm and Blues , Funk in those days. Brilliantly merged by Arif Mardin on Mr. Natural and Main Course. Such outstanding talent by the Gibbs is so very rare.....

I have been a huge fan since my early teens in the 60’s and never got to any of their concerts (unfortunately) but have loved being able to watch many RUclips videos of them. I especially love Robin’s voice and Maurice’s fun antics. I loved their early songs but also love their songs from the 80’s & 90’s like ‘For who. The bell tolls, Winds of change, ‘Spirits having flown’ and all of them really. I have heard them say in interviews that being brothers is what makes their harmonies work so well. Also their passion for music and all having the same goal contributed to their success over many decades. The videos of them telling their own stories of how they started singing when Barry was 9 and the twins were 6 is just so interesting. And I love their humour and the way they bounce off each other in interviews. Thank you again for sharing about the Bee Gees here on your channel. I enjoyed it very much.

To what I understand, when the Bee Gees left Australia and returned to England to meet and team up with Robert Stigwood (RSO Label).
Barry and Robin Gibb wrote the song when they were sitting on a darkened staircase at Polydor Records following a power cut. The echo of the passing lift inspired them to imagine that they were trapped in a mine.[The song recounts the story of a miner trapped in a cave-in. He is sharing a photo of his wife with a colleague ("Mr. Jones") while they hopelessly wait to be rescued.

I am from Austria, heard their songs 4 times during the last 4 weeks in our grocerys and radio! Love them since 40 years, the greatest ever, in my opinion, and I also love Bowie, Queen, Beatles, Guns n Roses, M. Jackson......BUT the bee Gees are the only group (artist), where I love soooo MANY songs and I discover every week new songs, I ve never heard before or knew, that they wrote (and sung) it and I also can hear the songs 10 times in a row without being bored.

In addition to being fantastic singers and songwriters, all three had a wicked good sense of humor. You mentioned Robin's serious side but he was also just as funny if not more so as Maurice. As big as they were they never took themselves too seriously although in my opinion they would have had that right because they were just that good. They were the best of the best of the best and I feel so lucky to have been here at a time when they were starting out and any given week could see them on the Johnny Carson show, The Midnight Special etc etc. To top it all off the three of them were really nice guys too and were good to their fans. I'm happy to see someone younger appreciate and acknowledge the raw talent that was the Bee Gees......thank you for that.

I love the Bee Gees, they are the best group ever. I have been privileged to have listened to them all my life. Each brother had a unique place and all were so talented. I'm so glad that you could see how each brother was so different but played and wrote music so well. Thank you, it's wonderful to see the younger generation appreciate the Bee Gees. Fyi Mo did have a drinking problem, he wrote and sang ....Man in the middle....which is about his life, it's a great song. Subscribed!!!

I understand Mo went to rehab for his drinking problem and did okay afterwards. When I heard Man in the Middle which he wrote and performs, I just felt it was autobiographical. I just wish Rob, Mo and Andy were all still here. I have been listening and buying their music since the 1970s. But the best was that I saw them in concert 4x through out the years. They were awesome and always put on a fabulous performance. I always loved them!!!

@@catherinedouglas8049 de muy mal gusto del reactor hacer ese comentario estúpido, ya que de esas épocas GLORIOSAS DE LA MUSICA, NINGUN GRUPO O SOLISTA SE SALVÓ DE CAER EN ADICCIONES, Y HAVIAN ESCANDALOS EN EL ESCENARIO, Y ROMPIAN INSTRUMENTOS Y MALTRATABAN AL PUBLICO. NADA MÁS LEJOS DE LOS BEE GEES. MAURICE SIEMPRE FUE ASÍ, AMIGABLE, ENCANTADOR, GRACIOSO, A LOS TWINS LES ENCANTABA HACER COMEDIA. ESTUVO DE MÁS MENCIONAR ÉSO. PUEDES VERLOS CON 6 AÑOS Y 9 AÑOS EN LA TV AUSTRALIANA, Y NACIERON DIOSES DE LA MUSICA...Y DEL CARISMA Y LA CORRECCION Y LA HUMILDAD... CUANDO REACCIONE A OTRO GRUPO QUE CUENTE LO QUE TOMABAN, SE INYECTABAN.... NO ME GUSTÓ ESO. LOS BEE GEES JAMAS FUERON UNOS "REVENTADOS" PERDIDOS...DESDE CHIQUITOS ERAN FABULOSOS Y SACARON A SU FAMILIA DE LA MISERIA. EXCELENTES CIUDADANOS EN TODOS LOS LUGARES QUE VIVIERON, EXCELENTES PERSONAS. NO ME TOQUEN A LOS BEE GEES CON COMENTARIOS DESUBICADOS!!!!! 😊 TENDRIAMOS QUE HABERLOS CLONADO.😔😔😔.... ❤❤❤❤❤

Some of their most beautiful music came from this time period. Maurice was awesome drunk or sober. None of them would have been as great without the other 2. Maurice said in an interview that 1 beegee is good. 2 are great. 3 are magic. He was right. Maurice had a great voice too.

The Gibb family moved from England to Australia in 1958, and lived here until early 1967. They did some of their earliest TV appearances here. Barry wrote dozens of songs for the Bee Gees and others during those years. Even then, their harmonies were amazing 👏 I'm so impressed that you're only 30-something and appreciate them so much.

The Gibb family grew up in Australia so we are very proud of them all. R.I.P. Andy, Mo and Robin. Pretty sure those twins gave older Barry a really hard time..lol... Great senses of humour all of them. Our music was so good. The three bothers sang together from a very early age and had perfected the harmonies long before they hit the public. The disco era just showed their amazing talent.

Bee Gees are legends and incomparable. Nobody can surpass them in terms in switching of tones and tunes. Sir Barry Gibb along with twin brothers Maurice and Robin are featured in the Book of Guiness as the most successful songwriters of all times. Sir Barry Gibb lately was knighted by King Charles.

My biggest and my favorite memories of the BeeGees were going to Skateland on Friday and Saturday night in the 70s . My real first experience falling in love with the BeeGees, and now I'm 60 years old, and I have learned to appreciate them so much more now. Im sad that Sir Barry is the lone man I know one day they will all be together again doing what they did best singing together and writing songs..I'm so happy the younger generations are finding the magic that is the BeeGees. I'm so grateful I grew up with these remarkable talents in my life . ❤
