Rock n roll hall of fame is not just for rock singers. They represent a diverse group of artists. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists' contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll. Maybe go into their website and learn about them. George covered many styles of music. He sang blue eyed soul and won some prestigious awards which got other singers backs up because he wasn’t black, he sang love songs, he sang disco, he did sing some rock, he did plenty of covers from Stevie Wonder, Seal, The Beatles to Queen, Adamski and The Police. He wrote a song that he performed with Paul McCartney. He was so incredibly diverse. There are many artists that have stated he influenced them. George Michael was his own genre. That’s why he got his nomination and that’s why he deserves it. These days they recognise DJ’s, musicians, record label executives, songwriters, record producers, Dolly Parton was nominated and didn’t think she deserved it because she wasn’t rock and roll. Although Parton had asked to be removed from the ballot because she did not think of herself as a rock artist, the Hall responded that "From its inception, rock and roll has had deep roots in rhythm & blues and country music. It is not defined by any one genre, rather a sound that moves youth culture. Dolly Parton's music impacted a generation of young fans and influenced countless artists that followed. Her nomination to be considered for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame followed the same process as all other artists who have been considered." So maybe learn a little about the Hall of Fame and don’t say someone who worked so hard and had such amazing talent shouldn’t be considered for induction. Quite frankly it should have happened before he died.

I always adored his voice. So underrated. Careless Whisper, Kissing A Fool, Praying For Time, You Have Been Loved, Jesus To A Child, Waiting For The Day & Somebody To Love are all brilliant mastering of his talent.
There are thousand of people who can sing 'generically' well...but very few with the vocal character and live control that takes them to special levels. George was clearly one of them.
Just sublime. George had the most gorgeous voice. I was a fan from Wham! days and I'm so glad I had a chance to see him live. We lost his incredible talent far too soon, just four days after I lost my own dear father.
Not only truly phenomenal singing but he also wrote his own songs for the most part. Truly an icon and one that doesn't really exist that much anymore.
George Michael was one of the most underrated singers, musicians and songwriters in history - despite being a global star. He was so incredibly talented and most people don't realise how he wrote all his own songs and music and essentially played all the instruments. He is not on a par with other global pop stars who have teams of writers and musicians creating work for them and all sorts of digital equipment to make their voice sound good. He was also a wonderful master of the stage. He is greatly missed and I'm not some rabid superfan or anything like that - I just have total respect for his unbelievable talent and hard work and brilliant pop songs.

The only singer that could bring chills to my body. Such pure sound. Absolutely beautiful. I was gutted when he passed. The world needed him.
Kissing a fool !!
While absolutely agree with your sentiment, but have a listen of John Farnham singing his cover of the Beatles' Help.
Hi Fil, what a lovely analysis of George's vocal on the Parkinson show 1998. I was playing bass with him from 1996 to 2012 and this performance is my favourite of his on RUclips. It is an astounding vocal, he was an astounding man. SW
That is the best breakdown of George Michael's voice I've ever heard. George Michael had such a fine voice.
His voice was perfection to me.
I saw him live in Copenhagen and was so impressed by his voice. There was almost no difference between live performance and studio recordings. He was just next level. Sadly missed.
Thank you for analyzing my favorite George Michael song!
This just breaks my heart it's the sound of my teens were so lucky to have him live you George .yoiare missed and still loved greatly😢😢
George's vibrato is so measured and controlled. It fits the emotional tone of the song.
My heart still hurts thinking of him. His voice was gorgeous. This song means a lot to me.
Legendary George Michael will officially be inducted into " The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame " November 2023!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥👏👏👏
So deserved ! ❤❤
I always adored his voice. So underrated. Careless Whisper, Kissing A Fool, Praying For Time, You Have Been Loved, Jesus To A Child, Waiting For The Day & Somebody To Love are all brilliant mastering of his talent.
his voice was incredible
There are thousand of people who can sing 'generically' well...but very few with the vocal character and live control that takes them to special levels. George was clearly one of them.
Just sublime. George had the most gorgeous voice. I was a fan from Wham! days and I'm so glad I had a chance to see him live. We lost his incredible talent far too soon, just four days after I lost my own dear father.
That's what I keep telling ppl all the time... he was crazy talented. Amazing vocalist, beautiful voice.
George Michael
The King of Music❤️🙏❤️
Of all time❤
Not only truly phenomenal singing but he also wrote his own songs for the most part. Truly an icon and one that doesn't really exist that much anymore.
Isolating the vocals makes the song sound like a hymn. His voice was a gift to us all. Enough to move you to tears.
I was devastated when I heard that he had died. 😢 I couldn’t listen to his music for months. 🙁His voice is so beautiful! 😇
He was just amazing. His voice was absolutely gorgeous.
Hurts my heart that he’s gone. 💔🙏🏻
OMG Fil,
I am SO GLAD that you're featuring George Michael in this manner... He doesn't get the attention he deserves for his talent and unbelievable vocal control.😇
I’m first and foremost a heavy metal guy, but George has always been one of my favourite singers.
No wonder it is so pleasant so soothing so addictive listening to any and all of George's song. There are precise science to his every tune, every breathe drawn to each word.... oh how we lost the best soulful vocal the world has ever been gifted to enjoy
Some people are just born to sing.
This song...Though GM has always been one of my fave singers I can't listen to this one very often. It has always stirred my soul. The loves that I have lost and the distress of losing them. It all comes back.
Wow! It’s amazing to hear his voice without music! Just stunningly beautiful!
George Michael had one of the most amazing voices of all time!
His voice is the nearest thing to angelic I've ever heard, as a life long fan I can honestly say every single time I listen to him it's just like being enveloped by a velvet cloak, his voice literally shimmers
God bless George. What an absolute talent. I was gutted when he passed but grateful for the music he left us with.
George voice has an amazing tone. He puts everything into his songs, feeling. George doesn't need a group, he is one of a kind. A big loss to the world, in everyway, as a singer, songwriter and human being. They don't come any better than George Michael
I was talking to a friend about George Michael and I said he had the voice of an Angel, he was so special and an incredible talent. Also a very giving man, as was reported by many after he passed away. May he forever Rest in Peace.
George is one of my favorite singers of all time. His voice is stunning and he was an amazing artist in life. I was shocked & devastated that George left this world too soon. RIP George 😪🙏🏼
When Freddie Mercury died the first person I thought of to replace him with George Michael. ,,,incredible voice,,one of the best,,
George's versions of the long and winding road and i cant make you love me are two that demonstrate his amazing beautiful perfect vocal ability. Just stunning. No one comes close to him!
You are so right. Those two songs as well as this one George sang to perfection.
He definitely has a gold set of vocal chords.
Wow, my body lit up with chills listening to this. He had an angelic voice so beautiful.
Spot on pitch and intonation, master of dynamics, beautiful tone, superb control, he was truly an excellent singer
No vocal gymnastics with George. He was a pure, pitch perfect singer.
The very first time I heard a 'Wham' song I knew this guy has a special voice.
Which he proved later in all of his music/songs.
Everytime I heard him (& still hear him) I got goosebumps all over my body.
The sound of his voice went right through my heart & soul.
The best of all time for me.
💔💜💔
I miss him. Great talent.
I always thought he sounded so real and expressive, but this just cements in how his sharp technical abilities allowed that emotion to come through in an infinitely memorable way
This is my absolute favourite. He just blows me away with this performance. It's perfection.
Truly magical. George is one of the greatest singers EVER!!
George had it all- amazing lyrics, angelic voice. I don’t think his talent will be matched for a very long time. I miss him terribly.
A Different Corner has always been one of my favourite songs. I never tire of listening to it. Quite simply beautiful. All the best talents seem to leave us far too soon .
And I love the way George joins in with the background singers so seamlessly between lead vocal phrases!!
An incredible talent who was born to sing for people all over the world. He furfilled his mission in this incarnation, and we are many who are so grateful for all he gave to us. Thanks George.
I always enjoyed George’s voice but this takes it to outer space. So glorious and heavenly.
Gained even more respect for this guy when it was found out after his passing just how many charities he fully supported behind the scenes with no publicity. These on top of the ones he publicly helped during his lifetime. Fil, you always know just how to describe this stuff for us lay people to understand. You are truly the best and your integrity and knowledge flows out of your videos. Rock!
Great analysis on George Michael vocals performance. This reminds me of GM's unplugged concert on MTV in 1997 which is one of the best performances I've ever seen from any artist. It's really sad that we will never listen to George's voice live again.
Such a loss. There were big gaps in the later years but every time he put out a new album it would be a new direction in popular music. A real inspiration. Another level as singer, song writer and producer.
I knew GM has been a milestone in pop music, but you granular and comprehensive analysis confirms what everybody know.
Thanks for such clear and didactic video.
I feel like there could be a semester long vocal class on just George Michael singing one song.
wonderful, no music needed just that voice
And what a tone he had..absolutely gorgeous!❤
George Michael was a fantastic talent.I was lucky enough to see him in concert twice and he was brilliant x
This song always brings me to tears, especially live. I miss him so much. Love you George. Xx
