George died on Christmas Day 2016 aged just 53. A sad loss to the world. His music was amazing sll the way back to the early days of Wham right upto all his solo material... Kind of sad yhat Christmas was his favourite time of yhe year and he passed alone on Christmas Day... Rest in Paradise George 💔💔
@timoneill6931 he certainly did and only Band Aid kept it from reaching No1 in his life time.. he also gave all the royalties from Last Christmas to the Band Aid charity!
To give a little background info. George wrote this song at 17. He won his first prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year when he was 21 for this song. At the time, he was the youngest recipient. He went on to win 6 total, with 3 being Songwriter of the Year for 85, 89, and 97. George remains the only individual songwriter to have ever won the Songwriter of the Year Award three times. He was a lyrical genius. He was more than a pretty gay man, sometimes I despise when all people can say is that. He only wanted to be recognized for his writing in the beginning. Toward the end of his life, he did a tour, Symphonica, which focused on his vocals and not the lyrics. He was human. Just a man, just wanting to be treated equally. He never was in his lifetime.
The SAX is everything in this song! It sets up the whole mood. Add into it George's incredible vocals and it is one of the best songs ever written. And this was done by a 17 year old.
@STEPHAN1808 I agree. To further clarify this for everyone else, yes, George was killing it then. That wasn't anywhere near his best album/era. The paparazzi never let up, and when he got caught...entrapped, his career was effectively over here. There were obviously still fans in the US, but it was a significant drop.
Wife and I danced to this song Christmas night 2016. She had a cancer scare that year. I was so thankful test turned out great after surgery. We woke up next morning and heard George had passed away.😢 After 36 years married to my best friend, we are blessed to be doing fine. Happy New Year everyone. I turned 65 on new years day. My mother said I ruined a great New Years Eve seafood dinner. Told her I was ready to get out😊.
Love the reactions with your wife, she is great, very pretty and the look on her face in certain parts of the songs (and in your remarks) and her comments are priceless!
Wifey is 100% correct. There is truth to the saying "once a cheater, always a cheater". Unfortunately, once someone cheats, it just makes it easier to do it again.

Oh my lordt!!! Watching you two react together is such a special treat!! Your wife is wonderful and spot on - and then your faces to her comments are THE BEST!! Thank you for brightening my day!
Absolutely. If they are disloyal to the one person they pledged the ultimate loyalty to, they simply can’t be trusted with anything at all so why stay with them? So they can do it again? Hard pass!

@@beverlystufflebeam5731 Errr, exactly....
