I never was a fan of the Bee Gees at all, especially through that disco crap. I was a hard rocker from the start. As time went on and I did settle down, I listened to some of their music and songs outside of the disco stuff and I liked it. As I learned more of them and listened to the lyrics of their songs my admiration and respect grew for them a great deal. I think Robin' s most iconic vocals were on Love Me on the Bee Gees 1976 album Children if the World he just masters the R'N B styling with his most emotive vocals pushing his boundaries to heartbroken vulnerability to the point of pleading desperation. Truly breathtaking
Patty-Robin was my favorite when I was 17 and still is today at 75. His voice, his sense of humor, and intelligence, both musical and academic, and his creativity made him the unique individual he was. A man who possessed a big heart and who was willing to put others before himself. Robin you are loved, respected, and will always remain in our hearts. 💕
Robin did not have a tragic life He experience agony and ecstasy, like most of us. He was a brilliant vocalist and keen harmonizer. Taught his trade by two exceptionally talented parents, and his older brother Barry and twin brother Maurice. My guess is their sister had some impact and influence as well. He loved to take the lead on ballads, and he brought an awesome drama to the BeeGees dynamic!!

Robin was a true icon. Actually "Boys do Fall in Love" was on the Secret Agent Album rather than How Old are You as stated. That album had Juliette, another excellent song.
I enjoyed your video very much as I have always been a fan of their Music. Cancer doesn't care how rich a person is and continues to destroy people who don't deserve it. The music teacher in school used to call us bul frogs. We weren't into classical music (then). But thanks to the BGs, years later, I found I could play by ear. My elder sister was struggling with Spicks & Specks on the piano. I laughed and she said "if you're so smart, play." I started toying with the keys and to my surprise and delight, found I could play by ear. It's been very liberating. I've tried contacting Barry at Inner Ear to thank him but no success. Any help much appreciated.

He had an iconic voice. The disco move honestly did it. I love their harmonies. The falsetto, uhhh. But I liked their old songs. Robin did a lot of the earlier songs. I liked those a lot. I grew up to the disco ones though.
i always called Robin the “Prog Gibb” because he had a voice that would fit Progressive Rock perfectly (hence “Odessa”) Whenever i hear his songs they have the same effect on me as King Crimson, Moody Blues, Yes, and ELP. It always seemed to me later the Bee Gees took to disco in the same way Bob Dylan went electric in 1965.
First of all. Fame does not ruin people. It is how they handle fame. I still love being famous, and it will never ruin me. I am being famous in a different way. However, Robin was one of the excellent singers of the Bee Gees and his brothers, Andy Gibb. May he, Maurice, and Andy rest in peace.

I liked the early ballads best. I could attend one of his solo concerts in Berlin. His voice was incredible. It was a pity that he appeared with a huge orchestra and I had the feeling he used all his strength to sing to sing against it because it was incredibly loud. The last album when Maurice was still alive is wonderful.
I grew up in Massachusetts. My permanent residence has been elsewhere since I graduated high school but I have returned there several times a year for the past half century. I have lost count of the number of times the BeeGees have provided the theme music for me "Going back to Massachusetts" to see friends and family. RIP Robin.
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories on this awesome band! The Andy Gibb video is live, looking forward to hearing what you think about it!
I was a huge Bee Gees fan in the sixties and from "WORLD" onwards bought practically all their singles ending with DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER to which Robin did not contribute. His singing, however, was truly wonderful on classics such as MASSACHUSETTS, I STARTED A JOKE, I'VE GOTTA GET A MESSAGE TO YOU. His high tenor was devastating at the end of LET THERE BE LOVE (from the IDEA-ALBUM), ODESSA and LAMPLIGHT (the great B-side to FIRST OF MAY). Solo his SAVED BY THE BELL was wonderful and so was the great lost album SING SLOWLY SISTERS! A great talent indeed!
If those boys had stayed in Australia believe me the world would never have known them. Thats exactly what my father said decades ago when we first saw them on Australian television. Barry was a very young teenager, and the two twins were only 12 years old. He recognised their amazing talent immediately and just as quickly said they won't make it if they stay here.
The relatively obscure album “idea“ by the Bee Gees, was the soundtrack of my tour in Vietnam. The song 'I’m going to join the Air Force today' kept going through my head while wading through the Mekong Delta as an army grunt.

I saw Robin Gibb performed solo in Singapore in the early 2000s. He said he would return and perform with his brothers, but sadly that never came to pass.
21 Jan 2025 (Fellow) Singaporean here. My recollection/perspective of that occasion please : the music correspondent for The Straits Times who covered the event (I have the news report somewhere among the heap of collected articles in my "Rock/Pop file") was none too thrilled with Robin's outing that evening, chief reason being his almost statue-like, stationary posture throughout his set, with none of the showmanship antics usually associated with pop/rock artistes. Granted he was never much of a dancer ("has two left legs" as one commenter humorously teased in a different video some time ago) but still.... Also, Maurice had passed on by this time. Robin sensed the passive mood of the audience and tried to rescue the moment by declaring that he hoped to have Barry along in a future concert date. But even then, instinctively and dismally, I was not optimistic. In 1967, the Brothers Gibb first and only concert at the now-demolished National Theatre (River Valley Road) left a bad taste in the band's mouth because of our government's anti-long hair policy then. All male artistes had to comply and the Bee Gees were not excused, having to trim their tresses (I'm not sure the promoter made it clear to them before the contract was signed). Since then of course the ruling on long hair has been scrapped and that's why so many international pop acts/artistes see Singapore differently now. I sense that Barry however still harbours residual pain from 1967. In later years I attended Cliff Richard/Leif Garrett/Air Supply concerts here in Singapore and their stagemanship was quite the thing (Poor Garrett had to ignore "the rows and rows of empty seats" and carried on his wildly endearing dance routines, the true professional he was. The concert promoter really lost a fortune that evening). All this coming from a lifelong Bee Gees fan. Gracias.

I don’t know why. Was he my type of guy? No. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have some sympathy for him, and be open to the possibility that he has some redeeming qualities, and I really don’t know what kind of guy he was.
It’s really weird, but I’ve been feeling really sympathetic toward him lately. 🤷♀️ I’m open to liking him.
I don’t know Barry’s side of the story, either. It really depends, to me, on how he treated Barry.
@@Zlata1313What is she lying about? Poor little Robinettes! Just can't bear the truth can you? You can dish the Barry hate out but can't take it.
They were and still are the greatest singers of all time ❤❤❤❤
The Pre Disco era was full of these achingly beautiful songs, and Robin was movingly beautiful then
Definitely my favourite Bee Gee i just love his voice .He sings from the heart and soul. Greatly missed. 💙😢
Mmm, Barry’s my favorite.
I loved him so much 😢❤
Robin's voice was absolutely beautiful. He left way too soon as did Maurice

Andy left before the twins, because they didn't want him in the group.

What a voice. Massachusetts is a gem. RIP Robin and Maurice. Thanks for the music.
I started loving Robin and his music when i was very young and i still love him and his music

The title is misleading. His life was not tragic at all. He just lived what many have lived except for the stardom part. I loved being a teenager in the 70s and the BeeGees, disco bars etc. "I Started A Joke" is by far my favourite BeeGee song. It always pulls at my heart.

Concordo 👍🇧🇷
I think Robin' s most iconic vocals were on Love Me on the Bee Gees 1976 album Children if the World he just masters the R'N B styling with his most emotive vocals pushing his boundaries to heartbroken vulnerability to the point of pleading desperation. Truly breathtaking
Massachusetts is my fave Robin song.

I Started a Joke
Patty-Robin was my favorite when I was 17 and still is today at 75. His voice, his sense of humor, and intelligence, both musical and academic, and his creativity made him the unique individual he was. A man who possessed a big heart and who was willing to put others before himself. Robin you are loved, respected, and will always remain in our hearts. 💕

He could hold a note for sure !! Rest in peace Robin Gibb !!
They were the first concert I ever saw...1980!Great show! They opened with Tragedy!❤
'I can't see nobody' with his pre Joplin howl still rocks the soul and ear...74 year old says so.

Imo Robin had the best voice. And what a proud Mum she must have been! ❤
My all-time favorite coming from this group is 'To Love Somebody.'
My favorite too, such a beautiful song!
Me too ❤
One of mine faves too! Written & sung by Barry.
Mine too and it was written and sung by Barry Gibb, my favorite singer, songwriter and entertainer.
Since you asked, I favour their early ballad days. I have loved those songs since childhood, though all of their music is important
Robin's stimme ist einfach wunderschòn ❤❤❤
First heard these three Brothers harmonize live with only a singular guitar on Johnny Carson's Show..They were just being introduced to America but Their Voices were Different & Incredible..Great Writers Too..
My favourite Bee Gee ❤
The Robin's voice was and will be fenomenal, magic, very talented like his brothers Barry and Mo. The Bee Gees forever will be the beeeeeeeest songwriter in the world 💔 😢😢😢xxx
I started a Joke is THE BEST -equally beautiful and SAD
Great song!!
I miss them so much❤❤❤R.I.P. ROBIN&MAURICE❤❤❤BARRY LIVE FOREVER❤❤❤
My late mother taught them at Clontarf State School. She thought they were good kids.
Robin was a true icon. Actually "Boys do Fall in Love" was on the Secret Agent Album rather than How Old are You as stated. That album had Juliette, another excellent song.
Favorite song by robin was Massachusetts ❤
I enjoyed your video very much as I have always been a fan of their Music. Cancer doesn't care how rich a person is and continues to destroy people who don't deserve it. Their rendition of Massachusetts holds a special place in my heart and Robin's "I started a Joke" is one of my favorites. Thanks for a great job showing us their History of success~!!

I liked Robin alot. RIP❤
The music teacher in school used to call us bul frogs. We weren't into classical music (then).
But thanks to the BGs, years later, I found I could play by ear.
My elder sister was struggling with Spicks & Specks on the piano. I laughed and she said "if you're so smart, play."
I started toying with the keys and to my surprise and delight, found I could play by ear. It's been very liberating.
I've tried contacting Barry at Inner Ear to thank him but no success.
Any help much appreciated.
Massachusetts is my favourite…

How dare anyone say fame killed him. He had more to offer us in 1 tear of his eyes than anyone i know.
rip Robin ❤
To love somebody ❤
He had an iconic voice. The disco move honestly did it. I love their harmonies. The falsetto, uhhh. But I liked their old songs. Robin did a lot of the earlier songs. I liked those a lot. I grew up to the disco ones though.
Thank you for watching! The Andy Gibb video is live, looking forward to hearing what you think about it!
Great video! Maurice is pronounced “Morris” I believe.
Robin had the most beautiful voice!
i always called Robin the “Prog Gibb” because he had a voice that would fit Progressive Rock perfectly (hence “Odessa”) Whenever i hear his songs they have the same effect on me as King Crimson, Moody Blues, Yes, and ELP. It always seemed to me later the Bee Gees took to disco in the same way Bob Dylan went electric in 1965.
Thanks a bunch for watching our videos! Give them a thumbs up and subscribe to stay in the loop.

RIP Robin.

Not the best looking guy, but his confidence overcame that, and his voice.

One of the most important voices in history.
RIP ♥
This is what happens when parents get involved in their children's lives. I so loved the Bee Gees. ❤❤ Great video. Thank you. New sub.
With all the autotuned randos in music nowadays, I'd say no one has a voice that can even hold a candle to Robin's.
I disagree. 😊

I think Barry’s the best. 😉
Awesome insight! Thank you for watching! The Andy Gibb video is live, looking forward to hearing what you think about it!

21 Jan 2025
(Fellow) Singaporean here.
Gracias.

I’m Irish and here in Ireland we had our kinda superstar called Joe Dolan who had that pitch and incredible voice like him although perhaps not as versatile
Yes I agree, they’d never have had the success they achieved staying in Australia, there just wasn’t the potential in popular music there
Just heard Joe Dolan. Fantastic singer
What a blessing! I grew up with them!!!
