  • 💙Maurice Gibb, one of the founding members of the Bee Gees, is often remembered as the heart and soul of the band. His multifaceted talent and tireless dedication helped shape the sound that defined an era. Born on December 22, 1949, in Douglas, Isle of Man, Maurice, along with his brothers Barry and Robin, formed one of the most iconic groups in music history.
From the beginning, Maurice demonstrated exceptional musical ability. He was not only a talented bassist but also a skilled pianist and keyboardist. His versatility allowed him to play a crucial role in creating the complex and innovative arrangements that became the Bee Gees' trademark. Maurice was also a talented songwriter, contributing significantly to the band's repertoire. His work behind the scenes, often away from the spotlight, was fundamental to the group's continued success.
Maurice's importance to the Bee Gees cannot be overstated. He was the main force behind the band's cohesion, both musically and personally. His ability to mediate conflicts and maintain harmony among the brothers was vital to the band's longevity. Additionally, Maurice was known for his dedication to his work, often spending long hours in the studio to ensure that every detail of the recordings was perfect. His passion for music and commitment to excellence helped the Bee Gees evolve and adapt to changes in the music industry over the decades.
One of the most notable examples of Maurice's talent is his contribution to the track "Nights on Broadway." Released in 1975, this song is one of the Bee Gees' most iconic and brilliantly showcases Maurice's vocal range and ability. The incredible falsetto he delivers in the song is a testament to his vocal skills and the Bee Gees' influence on the pop music of the time. Maurice's falsetto in "Nights on Broadway" not only adds an extra layer of emotion and intensity to the song but also exemplifies the vocal innovation that became a defining characteristic of the Bee Gees' sound.
"Nights on Broadway" was a milestone in the Bee Gees' career, signaling a shift towards the disco sound that would dominate the charts in the late 1970s. Maurice played a crucial role in this transition, bringing his musical sensibility and production skills to the studio. The song, with its infectious groove and sophisticated harmonies, exemplifies the Bee Gees' ability to reinvent themselves and remain relevant in an ever-changing industry.

That’s because Barry was singing his lower part live and couldn’t sing two parts at once. Maurice stepped in with a serviceable substitute at the time. And I agree, I much prefer Maurice’s voice mixed with Barry’s, than Robin’s. Barry and Maurice sounded really good together. Nothing really missing. • @brcfan9

They all three could sing in falsetto and sing it well.
Barry volunteered to sing falsetto on the" Nights On Broadway" single after the producer Arif Marden asked if one of them could sing in a high-pitched voice.
The song was a huge hit, so Barry continued to sing falsetto on more records during the supposed
"Disco" music period. These records made them very famous super stars and tons of money.
I don't know know why these types of posts are made on here. The other day, I saw one about Robin singing falsetto. I guess tomorrow it will be Andy singing it. None of them will ever be the falsetto singer that Barry was. Not taking anything away from the three brothers, but whenever you think of Bee Gees songs of this time period, you think about Barry's falsetto, not Robin's, Mo's, or Andy's. That's just facts.

Barry usually sang the lead in falsetto and Mo and Robin did the harmonies /chorus in their regular voices. Robin and Mo were never well known for their falsetto voices the way Barry was, but they could and did sing that way some times. I watched the video and Mo does a wonderful job.🥰🥰🥰

These videos bother me. This is exaggerated and is even false in some respects. Maurice was great, most of us liked him and accept that he had a calming influence but he didn't have a great vocal range, he even chose not to do much singing, Robin had by far the best vocal range of the 3 of them. He practised and he could achieve high notes with ease that Barry would strain on. He was their first lead singer however Barry gave the falsetto a go and found he could do it so they stuck with it. And even though Maurice (and yes he wasn't French so it is Morris or Mo as they called him ) had a good understanding of music and did play instruments I don't think he could be called highly skilled, they always had a keyboard/piano player with them and Maurice would stick with bass. There is no doubt he could use the keyboard to write songs. I have loved them and followed them closely from their start in Australia approx 1963 but they did perform before that in England.

He should have dedicated his efforts more to his personal wellbeing than his falsetto. I remember him more for his cocaine abuse that led to his premature death than anything else. Good move relocating your recording studio to Miami Florida in the 1980’s. Only cost you 2 out of 4 brothers. Yikes.

Who are you talking about? Andy was addicted to cocaine. The move to their new studio in Miami was always a dream of all of them. Barry had no way of knowing all of his brothers would die.

MM-rd4wm, Boy!! You really are a copy cat aren't you? You have been reading my posts on here and quoting me word for word. I guess I should be flattered.😂😂😂 I have been saying that exact same thing for a long long time and many times on here. Again go back and check. Oh I forgot. You already have 😂😂😂 I have begged and pleaded with the Robin fans who hate Barry to please leave him alone when they talk about Robin. And I have repeatedly asked them to please just praise Robin to their heart's content with out mentioning Barry's name . I have asked them why they can't just praise Robin with out tearing Barry down .They never answer me and it's because they can't do that. It's like they know that in order to praise Robin they first have to bring Barry down to Robin's level because Barry's star always shines so much brighter. Barry never had the demons his brothers had to contend with because he led his personal live so much differently than they did.

@@brcfan9 according to Barry, “my brothers, had to deal with their demons. My wife was not having it anytime I brought drugs into the house she would flush them.” Barry had better support. That’s not his other brothers fault.

    • @brcfan9
      @brcfan9 2 месяца назад +1

@@MM-rd4wm Why would it be his brother's fault if Barry was blessed with a great wife? I don't think his brothers had anything to do with Barry picking Linda did they? Too bad if they didn't pick out great wives for themselves. Although I loved Lulu with Mo and she has said they broke up because of his drinking so there's that. I loved that they still got along and spoke kindly of each other over the years. I like Yvonne and think she and Mo were a good couple.
I had nothing against Molly except she was always running her big mouth when Robin quit the band to make it solo because he thought he was the leader and should sing every song. I thought Molly should have just let the three brothers work things out between them. I never heard Linda putting her two cents in talking to the press like Molly did. But that's on Robin! I guess he didn't learn anything because that second wife he picked is just as weird if not more weird as he was.
Barry really knew how to pick women as he sure picked a keeper in Linda, I'm glad she made him tow the line and take his responsibilities to his wife and family seriously. But I believe Barry would have done that anyway as it's just the way Barry is wired. He's a decent caring man. He's always been a natural born leader and take charge kind of guy. He had and still has a very happy and stable family life. Family is everything to Barry Gibb. I thank God that He has been and is still blessing beautiful Barry. I know it's the reason he is still with us today.🥰🥰🥰(Edited for spelling)

@@brcfan9 I think they all picked the correct wife the second time. Dwina and Robin were very much alike so it makes sense that you would not like Dwina either. Barry got it wrong the first time as well. I'm sure God smote Mo and Robin with illness and cancer because they were such bad people. How Christian of you!

@@MM-rd4wm And you're off to the races very early this morning aren't you! Now my Christianity is now in question I see. Where in the world do you ever get your ridiculous thoughts and crazy as a bat ideas? I have never ever said that God took Mo or Robin or for that matter Andy because of their lifestyles so I can shut that talk down right now1 Show me where I ever said that! You can't because once again you are letting that rabid imagination run away with you. I could not care less about Robin and either of his wives. I don't hate any of them and I don't hate Robin. I don't like him because of his rabid fans like you as you all blame Barry for every thing bad that happened to Robin. That's all. If Robin and Dwina were happy with their lifestyles then good for them. I don't happen to like that type of lifestyle or approve of it and yes as a Christian I believe it's morally reprehensible and a sin. But it's not any of my business what they did in their marriage and they didn't need my approval and never asked for it. The only reason it is brought up is because Barry is always lied about and bashed on the boards by the rabid Robin fans as if he was a horrible evil person and I point out that as far as I know he was never the scumbag that Robin was.

Maurice was a very talented musician and how he harmonize was amazing but it came to singing Barry's part on the live performance he did very poorly because those are very big shoes to fill, no one can sing falsetto like Barry Gibb, period.
