      Does the thumb grip block you from being able to easily press the AEL AFL button? I use it for back button focusing and worry this will get in the way.

    • @sarkadii62
      @sarkadii62 Год назад +2

      @@okyeabuddyguy just don't get the JJC one originally made for the X100V because that kinda blocks the buttons (still usable imo, but I don't normally use back button focusing), with the one in the video or anything made specifically for X-E4 you should be good to go

  • @soccerjockey

    just gotta say, the thumbnail of your previous video about the X-E4 was a huge motivating factor for me to buy the camera because I immediately thought "damn that looks just like the Q2". So I got an Alphaguard skin (that blacks out the logos) and picked up a squarehood for my 27mm and I'm absolutely in love with the look and feel of the camera (no hand grip for me though, just a thumb). Also, I totally agree that the card reader adapter is a game changer! Thanks for sharing

    In Europe, the X-E4 is available in the form of a kit that includes both the thumb rest and grip. Because my favourite two lenses are the 16mm f/1.4 and 23mm f/1.4, the addition of these accessories helps the balance and stability of the camera a great deal. Having owned and disposed of the 18mm f/2, that's the only part of your setup that doesn't really impress. But it's undeniable that the camera looks attractive that way and I also found the general build quality to be better than expected. The camera initially received some bad reviews based on comparisons with a plethora of other Fuji bodies, but once your brain and hands adjust to it, it's mostly a pleasure to use.

    • @CurranBlevins
      @CurranBlevins  Год назад +2

      That’s awesome it has a kit setup in Europe. I love the f2 for the portability. I’m not concerned with carrying a 1.4 around as it eliminates the form factor that I want to keep small. I have other cameras / lenses that would be brought out of if the form factor of the daily carry camera wasn’t so important to me. Thanks for watching thoughts and the comment!

    I was lucky enough to find what’s likely one of the last good deals on an xe4. I’m thinking I’m just going to stick to the thumb rest. The side grip seems to add a little more bulk than I’d like and IMO looks kind of silly, but that’s just me! Super excited to use it!

    I wish I had a better experience with the 18mm f2. It’s just a softer lens than I prefer even though I love the overall design and smaller footprint. I’d love to see Fuji release an updated version with improved optics and focus motors.

      For me it seems pretty sharp in the center... it's only the edges that are bad. If you're shooting landscapes that's a problem, but it's fine for day-to-day or street photography. Stopping down to F5.6-F8.0 makes it acceptable for landscapes imho. The colours and contrast are as good as the 35mm F1.4.

    Great video! I had to sell my XPRO3 and I miss it. I have currently an XT1, bought back in 2014 and still a great camera, but showing some age. I really miss classic negative and the extra film customization. I was really considering a used XPRO3 mainly for the weather sealing, but you may have convinced me to get a used XE4.

    Thumb grip partly blocks access to buttons making it awkward to get to the Q button for instance. On the other hand, it does mean the exposure compensation dial is less likely to be bumped off your settings

  • @exilistde

    Its the Wifi (and the App) that often does not work, Bluetooth does, but its rarely used ( Geo Tagging and the newer Instax Link Printers to my knowledge ) Personally, I prefer to have a hand strap option as well, you can combine this, if you already have the Peak design anchors.... to use the black mist always was not my choice so far but I give it a try from time to time

    I love my classic silver X-E4 with my collection of small primes - glad I got one for Australian $1,050.00 a year ago.
    I've got a collection of older Fuji classic cameras and use X-H and X-T systems to run my scientific and technical imaging business but there is ONE CAMERA I WOULD KILL FOR: A Fujifilm 'X100VI' with the 40MP X-Trans sensor, IBIS, X-T style screen movements and an 18mm f/2 fixed lens (28mm equivalent) with macro and digital cropping with optical viewfinder frames for 35mm and 50mm. In short a 'Leica Q2 killer'! How about it Fuji?

    Really I do not get it. I own this camera and when I take photos I use two hands. Left under the body and around the lens . The right around side and on the button. Never have I been in fear of dropping it. Then for security you can have a neck strap or wrist strap. I feel the thumb grip is a gimick. Thats my thoughts but I agree it is a brilliant camera.

    • @CurranBlevins
      @CurranBlevins  Год назад +1

      I have one for both my 18mm f2 and the 27mm f2.8 The 18mm fuji hood screws onto the outside of the lens so the filter can screw onto the inside and there are no issues. The squarehood on the 27 mm screws to the lens filter itself. hopefully this answers your question!
