You should really try hard to play differently and be strict about it. I finally was able to do that and it was a lot of fun. I played as a Breton mage and focused mainly on being a "support" type player. So I would conjure atronachs and buff up my companions. A lot of illusion, alteration, and conjuration stuff. I didn't use ANY destruction. Was very interesting.
Yep, always Khajiit for me too. Also always go Imperial since the one time I went Stormcloak, everyone (including Ulfric) kept insulting my existence all the time for not being human. So...fuck those guys.
That's because the thief class is hated in Skyrim. Khajiit are thieves, Lizons are Highwayman, and Argonians and Khajiit are drug dealers. It has been this way since the first Elder Scrolls game Moon Sugar and Skooma are narcotics this is why these three races are hated.

Due to the leveling system in the game, it’s actually quite handy to pick a race lacking in your preferred skills. Its a bit unintuitive, but this way your skills will level faster and you’ll get some levels and perks earlier.
Personally I always go for high elf in skyrim. Having the tallest possible character with the fastest running speed, makes skyrim a lot easier to track through. Its also very good for practicing magic, since you have the high born skill.

High Elves can hit (slightly) harder than a Nord who's got *much* better muscles? & Breton females can't hit as hard as Breton males, yet Imperial females *can* hit as hard as Imperial males? whoever worked on these scales must have done some pretty good skooma. not that the damage from height actually has *that* much of a difference.
So you won’t kill anything as a thief character 😂 you would get 15x damage on a dagger and 3x damage on a bow but you wouldn’t be able to improve them, nah that’s just boring fuck that
i think Orcs make great assassins. If you work on your sneak skills, you can do a sneak dagger strike for x15 around, I think, level 60. If you've joined the Dark Brotherhood, you acquire a set of gloves that grant double damage to back stab (basically just a sneak strike with a dagger, whether it be front, back, or side), as well as a set of boots that help muffle your movement. (Side note: if you become a vampire, you have a reduction is Illusion casting AND you are more quiet while moving around, plus you are granted abilities similar to Calm that you can cast once a day) And with the Orc's greater power, your now attacking with x60. The only thing that sucks is the beginning of the Illusion Tree. You need at least level 70 for quiet casting and you need to get the Invisibility spell, too. But once you get the Invisibility spell, you can level up illusion no problem. Just keep casting it in private, wait an hour after running out of Magicka, and continue casting. But right now, I'm playing as a Breton. With their ability to resist 50% percent of spell damage and 25% ability to absorb it, they're great for fighting dragons and mages. Plus, you can Fortify Magic Resistance in your enchanting, or come across items with FMR to further your resistance against spells. Personally, though, I like being able to Fortify Destruction Spells with my enchanting for 25% on 4 pieces of armor. So...100% Fortify Destruction Spells, which means free destruction casting. If you reach level 100 in Enchanting, you can now Enchant a piece of armor with TWO abilities. So that's nice to do. Holy crap. I've played way too much Skyrim. Oh well.
All races have a special move I call them, for example ancestors wrath is only for dark elves and argonian can heal faster with hist skin those "special moves" and the other ones are very good if used smartly

DEADSHOT_456 if u keep being a warrior, why don't u attempt to mix up with a bit of magic, like a battle Mage, it could change ur play style a fair amount but keep being a warrior kind of class with it too.
As of now I'm trying to complete the vanilla game for the very first time. I play an Imperial specialising in one-handed swords and shields, restoration spells healing and lesser ward, Alchemy in the form of buff potions and poisons, enchanting in the form of damage dealing/draining, cash making or even soul stealing enchantments. After I finished this playthrough I'm going to settle for a while, play something else and then come back and do a homebrew/modded run where being OP is the main quest of the game. Becoming the daedric equivelant of god or satan is the way to go and there are a few rules outside of the goal and that is 1. the only sword you may ever wield is a lightsaber, 2. the only magic arts you may use are the dark and destruction arts, and things that make uncle sheo happy 3. become so godlike that you don't even need armor, you can bassically just wear clothing or undercloth and 4. everyone that doesn't bow to the player has to die or, if they are of great use, should be made your bitch and abused for either money, power, both or just your personal entertainment.

(PC only) - This issue has been addressed by version 1.3.1 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch; it will only be properly fixed on a new game, and cannot reliably safeguard against fixing it if the player is a werewolf or Vampire Lord. (PC only) - This bug can be manually fixed for non-Imperial characters by using the console command set ImperialLuck to 100 to disable the perk, which persists between saves
The thing with Skyrim is, you can pick a Nord and be a succesful stealth archer, no problem. It's only at the start and at higher difficulties that the starting powers actually matter. For example, starting out as a High Elf and get the extra mana, is great for legendary difficulty. However with the use of mods, one can simply customize your playthrough to your liking.
its really comes dow to the racials, though its hard to argue with the Altmer +50 Magicka, that's 5 levels of free Magica boosts that NO other race can compare to.

A really nicely done guide, thank you! I got Skyrim back when it first came out & played as a Dark Elf because I liked the sound of the Ancestor's Wrath power. That is still to this day the ONLY play through where I completed the civil war & Dragonborn questlines. I have also played for a hundred hours or more in the past with a Khajiit mage & a Breton mage but never came close to completing any major quest lines except perhaps the College. Now I am back after several years off, as a Redguard spellsword named Tupac Shinji!
I was already going to restart anyway but knowing how much better suited an orc is to my playstyle compared to a nord gives me a lot of confidence going forward.
Bretons are the best tanky charecters. You can always decrease physical damage with heavy armor and training in that skill but reducing magic damage is much harder and even the thickest armor is not always useful without specific enchantments. So being a breton with say the atronoch stone can make handling any encounter easier as you can tank any form of damage.

This build I call the Paladin. Race Breton Skill specialization: one handed, block, heavy armor, smithing, restoration, alteration, enchanting. He is one of my most powerful characters purely for his stupid levels of defensive bonuses. He just can’t die from anything. This is powerful early game levels 1 to 15 as any human opponent doesn’t stand a chance. But once you got level 30 it gets crazier as even giants don’t have the offensive power to hit through your defenses. And if they do it means squat you can heal up with restoration cause they deal so little damage. So yeah Bretons make the best spellswords.

My most recent Skyrim character I made was a nord mage, specializing in fire related spells, I'm never one for optimizing builds, which is partially why I have a tougher time getting through certain parts of that game.
I've played as almost every character in Skyrim but my go-to character is Imperial just because they're good with combat in Magic and it's always good to find a little bit of money I think they're good jack-of-all-trades character
I started as an Orc (before watching this video) because I tought I would highly enjoy Two handed weapons and Heavy armor. But now that I'm a bit further I switch playstyle the entire time, so I guess it doesn't really matter that much anymore once you've progressed a bit. Anyway. amazing guide like always Strife!
Lol when I first started playing, I was an Argonian because I liked the idea of being able to breathe under water. Then I realized the only way to attack under water is with a cloak spell before entering the water...and that there are items that give you the ability to breathe under water. Oh yeah...I still managed to get infected with Vampirism...and not the good kind. -_-
Skyrim came out in 2011 actually, but yeah, now that the special edition is out it seems everyone's redoing new videos for it. I mean gameplay wise nothing has changed but I'm still seeing a lot of "new" starting guides and builds rehashing everything that's already been said about the game capitalizing on the renewed interest and wider audience that the SE has brought to the game.

Hand-to-Hand was so good in Oblivion. Once you hit master with it enemies would be basically either paralyzed or out of fatigue and fall on the ground. So much fun. PUGILISM, FISTICUFFS, THE MANLY ART OF SELF-DEFENCE!
When people ask me "what is the essayist thing to play" I respond with. If you don't want to carry a torch in a cave or at night, the kajit. If you don't want to bother breathing air for long period of time pick argonian.
I think bretons are best for a tank and melee playthough; aka no magic. Because of their extreme resistance to magic theyll seldom have to use long range weapons or spells to kill those pesky mages. Instead they can brush off the incoming magic attacks and charge in with their melee weapon and shield, and get by just fine. Also their cute short stature will make enemies underestimate them, allowing them to get close for that crushing blow.
Best race for legendary is no doubt breton. Magic resist and starting more alchemy,speech, conjuration leads to better business model throughout leveling. On more casual difficulties, sure, play what you want.
If I could use console commands, I would use them to cheat, but not in a bad way. For example, I would just unbuy a couple of rooms in the house in Windhelm so the game will stop crashing every time I enter, and unmarry one of my characters since I missed out on talking to them after the wedding to figure out who was going to live where. Or, use the console command that lets you marry whoever is not marry-able.

It doesn't matter what race you choose. The race have minimal impact on almost everything when it comes to gameplay and role-playing.

I think Bretons are a better battle mage or spell sword then redguard, or imperials.

Tbh redguard and imperial
This build I call the Paladin.
Race Breton
Skill specialization: one handed, block, heavy armor, smithing, restoration, alteration, enchanting.
He is one of my most powerful characters purely for his stupid levels of defensive bonuses.
He just can’t die from anything.
This is powerful early game levels 1 to 15 as any human opponent doesn’t stand a chance.
But once you got level 30 it gets crazier as even giants don’t have the offensive power to hit through your defenses.
And if they do it means squat you can heal up with restoration cause they deal so little damage.
So yeah Bretons make the best spellswords.

My most recent Skyrim character I made was a nord mage, specializing in fire related spells, I'm never one for optimizing builds, which is partially why I have a tougher time getting through certain parts of that game.

I've played as almost every character in Skyrim but my go-to character is Imperial just because they're good with combat in Magic and it's always good to find a little bit of money I think they're good jack-of-all-trades character

I started as an Orc (before watching this video) because I tought I would highly enjoy Two handed weapons and Heavy armor. But now that I'm a bit further I switch playstyle the entire time, so I guess it doesn't really matter that much anymore once you've progressed a bit. Anyway. amazing guide like always Strife!

So equally bad at everything.
Lol when I first started playing, I was an Argonian because I liked the idea of being able to breathe under water. Then I realized the only way to attack under water is with a cloak spell before entering the water...and that there are items that give you the ability to breathe under water. Oh yeah...I still managed to get infected with Vampirism...and not the good kind. -_-

Skyrim came out in 2011 actually, but yeah, now that the special edition is out it seems everyone's redoing new videos for it. I mean gameplay wise nothing has changed but I'm still seeing a lot of "new" starting guides and builds rehashing everything that's already been said about the game capitalizing on the renewed interest and wider audience that the SE has brought to the game.

Hand-to-Hand was so good in Oblivion. Once you hit master with it enemies would be basically either paralyzed or out of fatigue and fall on the ground. So much fun.

When people ask me "what is the essayist thing to play" I respond with. If you don't want to carry a torch in a cave or at night, the kajit. If you don't want to bother breathing air for long period of time pick argonian.

I think bretons are best for a tank and melee playthough; aka no magic. Because of their extreme resistance to magic theyll seldom have to use long range weapons or spells to kill those pesky mages. Instead they can brush off the incoming magic attacks and charge in with their melee weapon and shield, and get by just fine. Also their cute short stature will make enemies underestimate them, allowing them to get close for that crushing blow.
Can you make a Fallout 4 character guide?
Best race for legendary is no doubt breton. Magic resist and starting more alchemy,speech, conjuration leads to better business model throughout leveling. On more casual difficulties, sure, play what you want.

If I could use console commands, I would use them to cheat, but not in a bad way. For example, I would just unbuy a couple of rooms in the house in Windhelm so the game will stop crashing every time I enter, and unmarry one of my characters since I missed out on talking to them after the wedding to figure out who was going to live where. Or, use the console command that lets you marry whoever is not marry-able.
Serana is a good choice for marrying the un-marriable. Or the Karita BARD. lol
