Altmer is stronger gameplay wise, than the Khajiit. Eso always plays with the cat from elsweyr. Could be the reason why he placed them on 3rd place instead of the Altmer. @JBoiJ
Altmer is best With being an offensive mage, because you can cast an infinite amount of spells once a day with the highborn ability. If you want a more solid defense, take Breton with magic resistance and spell absorption once a day. @JBoiJ
Some Dunmers were born in Skyrim after their parents fled, from the eruption of red mountain nearly 200 years ago. Sondas at dark water crossings, has lived his entire life in stormcloak territory, and says Morrowind sounds like a wretched place lol.
@@cheeseham9503 There's a lot of Nords who side with the Empire honestly. Rikke as you said, Hadvar, Alvor, the Battle-Born Family, Balgruuf, Captain Aldis and I could go on. I think one of the guides even stated that Balgruuf's reputation as the embodiment of a true Nord and his allegiance to the Empire has convinced a lot of other Nords to turn away from Ulfric. I've never really understood why so many people seem to think that if you play as a Nord, you MUST join the Stormcloaks considering how many Nords we see in the game who are against them.
The Breton has always been my favorite race in Tamriel. Their culture, history, and overall appearance has always fascinated me. I've been a Breton since Morrowind and i'm damn proud of it.
first time I started playing Skyrim I was a dark elf. As I was playing further more I didn't like playing as them. So i restarted the game and I decided to play as a Breton. Boy am I glad I'm a Breton.
I'd say that the Breton is an incredible choice. Mostly due to the fact that the Breton can easily have 50% resistance to magicka. Its racial bonus is already 25%, while the lord stone gives you another 25%. 25 and 25 obviously adds up to 50. Apart from that, the dragonskin ability is great.
@@alejandroyava you can, but Bretons come with it naturally and their dragonskin power allows magic absorption to stack to 100% with them, making them effectively immune to magic damage for 30 secs. Also, magic absorption and magic resistance are different.
That is absolutely terrible. Win smithing, skills, potions and enchantments, you can bet a one handed weapon up to well over 100 damage. Plus you can put poisons on weapons.
@@jakegrant7663 You can also enchant gloves and rings with the Fortify Unarmed enchantment which you can get from the Gloves Of The Pugilist. Also, using the gloves at the start of the game, you can do MUCH more damage than ALL other weapons and magic (Even without the gloves). Plus, the perk in the Heavy Armor tree boosts your unarmed damage when you are using heavy armor gauntlets (Which unfortunaly doesn't increase if you upgrade the gloves), so with the perk, the enchantment on it and on the ring, you can make a solid Pugilist build. Of course One Handed and Two Handed builds are better once you progress in the game. But Unarmed sounds fun, and is not impossible to use with Khajit or Argonians (Even with other races, 'cause of the unarmed boosts that are avaiable; they will be awfully bad in the early/mid game tho).
@@jakegrant7663 yeah but the hands are about the same speed as daggers, and you can get the gloves like right at the beginning so 32 damage daggers in the beginning of the game. That’s op dude.

I always use a Breton for my shield and sword/tank builds. You can reach the level cap for magic resistance without enchantments and save room for more useful ones. Add spell breaker and restoration especially the respite perk to the mix and you become damn near unkillable. You can crush any foe including mages with little to no effort.
THIS must be a glitch but I'm supposed to be 100% resistant to diseases right? Because I'm a werewolf BUUUTTTT... I got a disease, easy enough to cure but still, it broke my IMMSERION!
There is no 'best' race. The best race is the race you choose, and the character you make. Also, there's different things that seperate the characters from one-another. Example - Argonians give you the ability to breathe under water. The Khajiit - Allows you to easily sneak around and etc. So there's pretty much a character for everyone.
Depends on how your are doing that playthrough. Sometimes a play at normal-master difficulty, and just do whatever, sometimes I play on Legendary with multiple difficulty mods installed, and every little bonus needs to be considered.
I think people underestimate Voice of the Emperor. It's a great ability for keeping NPC's alive during a lot of situations in the game, especially if you're warrior focused. Keeping Hroggar alive while searching for Alva's journal for example. Or using it right in the middle of a vampire attack, neutralizing everyone but the hounds.
You know I thought the same thing, I mean, it seemed to me that wood elves had a lot less good going for it then redguard, so why not put redguard number 9
Ebony warrior is a LEVEL 80 warrior who is a redguard -which uses unrefined enchanted FULL EBONY SET- I would beat him rather easily with a dragonhide casted Breton.
Yeasty Yeastington Skyrim doesn’t have a good system for role playing. Where in New Vegas you’re forced to join pacific allies and thusly must choose pathways that force your character to align themselves with pacific ideals in which your play style effects; in Skyrim you become guild leader of every club and end up as a generic bandit killer.
@@Dorkeydaze Not exactly. Yes, you COULD do those things, but the game never forces you to, which is why I prefer Skyrim's role play system. You have the choice to actually join factions.

Adriano Oda Yamada That's all they can do. They have to grab a bow or spell for dragona and have to constantly aggro enemies. With no resistances, they can be pretty vulnerable at times
But unarmed combat is harder than armed combat - you can't enchant those claws, and you have shit range - if you want to get above the base damage you have to wear heavy armour - heavy armour + shit range sucks until you get conditioning. Khajits are broken for early game only.
At all classes he said "You can only used the ability once per day" And say its bad and useless because you have to wait But when he comes to the orc its ok and he say "Easy you can sleep 24 hours" So wtf?
@@kyokushinbaka6046 This, its because the other stuff should be able to be used more then once a day, as as a day power, they are all weak. Orcs one actually justifies the timer.
I remember my dad playing skyrim when i was like 8 and i was like look daddy a big man walking there and got so scared of all the creatures when i was watching him play now im 15 and have finished skyrim
Here's how I'd honestly rank them: 1. Orc. Their greater power breaks the game, no question. You can abuse their power with assassin builds to get 6x bow damage, or (with the dark brotherhood gloves) a whopping 60x dagger damage. By far the best greater power in the game- doesn't matter if it can only be used once a day, it lets you one shot everything. Also works wonders when combined with elemental fury + dual wield. Really the best choice for warriors and assassins alike. 2. Altmer. The only race that gets five levels in something. Those extra 5 levels in Magicka can be spent elsewhere to give you a build that has a nice boost to magic that other builds wouldn't, or it can be used to keep a Magicka lead no other race can hope to match. This allows them to use multiple schools of magic effectively (since you have a limited number of fortify school enchantments) and makes them the best choice for Mages. Their greater power is okay as well, but not fantastic if you use potions. Highest potential of any mage. 3. Breton. Their greater power is the second best in the game, allowing them to severely turn the tide in any magic fight. Their passive is also a nice resistance that can stack well with other sources without the need of much enchanting to reach 85% resist. Though they have a lower potential than their high elf counterparts, their defensive capabilities make them easier to play. 4. Nord. 50% frost resistance is insane, and an early game Fear spell is fine enough- certainly adaptable. 5. Dunmer. 50% fire resistance is insane, though their greater power is only useful for certain character types. Ranged characters will never take advantage of it, but it is a solid DPS boost to melee characters. 6. Redguard. 50% poison resistance should not be ignored. This is actually insanely useful against Falmer who dish out TONS of poison damage, as do Charus who are frequently found with them. The stamina regen ability is also nice for sustained power attacks. One of the better choices for a warrior dps class. 7. Bosmer. Again, 50% poison resistance is actually very good. 50% disease resistance is negligible, but convenient enough. Their greater power is fine if you don't want to seek out the animal allegiance shout, and is at least very flavorful. Their starting bonuses are actually worth noting since they can perk into Archery twice before perking into anything else, meaning you can start the game with pretty high bow damage. 8. Argonian. I love Argonians so much, but all of their abilities are fairly minor convenience perks. Waterbreathing is enjoyable just for the sheer freedom it provides, but potions or enchanting can easily grant you waterbreathing (enchant a hat of water breathing for extra confusion). 50% disease resistance is negligible. The best thing about them is their greater power which is insanely helpful in the early game against particularly tough enemies or crowds, and especially if you choose not to invest in alchemy. The slightly higher unarmed damage is useless since Khajiit exist. 9. Khajiit. My favorite race, but by far the most narrow. The night eye ability really should be a passive that you can turn on or off instead of a power that you have to keep recasting- it's inconsequential in a game as bright as Skyrim.I never feel the need to use it even on low light settings. The claws ability is powerful, but narrow. Khajiit are the only choice for an unarmed build, as the extra DPS lost for not picking Khajiit is insane (17 damage loss compared to most races, 12 when compared to Argonians). In this one area the Khajiit excel, and they excel in a way no other race can ever hope to- but if you're looking to make any other kind of build, avoid the Khajiit. 10. Imperial. What do these guys even do? 2-10 extra gold from time to time is negligible, even in the early game where you would theoretically use the gold to snowball into better equipment early. It's just a non-ability. Voice of the Emperor is an early game Calm spell, which is.... fine? It's not bad, certainly, but it's not particularly interesting and it's fairly useless later on. Overall, I'd say unless unless you plan on using Breton, Altmer, or Orc, it's not worth caring too much about the individual racial passives and powers. They're all fairly minor compared to how you allocate perks and how you allocate magicka, health, and stamina.
Deyemonds to the contrary Ive done an entire playthrough with unarmed. And yeah, it’s enjoyable and Khajiit do have that one area where they excel, but let’s be honest- unarmed is mostly a joke. To even make it viable on higher difficulties you’re basically required to exploit alchemy and enchanting to get unarmed damage up, and any build where that’s 100% necessary is not one that’s going to be as fun to play. Again, I adore the Khajiit. My favorite race, with the coolest culture and the most interesting characters- every ES game, for me, will always start with me trying Khajiit. But they are absolutely outclassed in almost any way that matters in Skyrim.
@@StyxTBuferd Any race gan get 100% spell absorption with vampire + necromage perk. This makes the character 100% resist to all magic, diseases and poisons. With this in mind the Nord, Dunmer, Bosmer, Breton and Redguard have nothing going for them, making them as bad as Imperial. Actives are in my opinion not something you should rely on because they can only be activated once a day (except fo Khajit). That's why I would put the Orc on the 4th place (having the shared best daily active in the game with Altmer). I agree with your descriptions of the other 3, so I would say Altmer are best (although I never use them). Because I use the realistic lightning mod my caves and nights are very dark. So for me the night eye ability is very useful until I get vampire's sight which does the same. On legendary unarmed fights are though so I would rate Khajit slightly above Argonian. Even if you don't plan the build around unarmed fights you still have to do a couple in quests or to unlock a follower.
@@Vincrand Didn't we already have a comment chain about this? You're talking about situational passives vs situational passives. Unarmed as a main combat style is way worse than almost anything else in the game. There are maybe 2 followers and 1 quest that require unarmed fights, at which point I'd argue the Orc daily power trumps it anyway. It's also not easy to get 100% spell absorption and necromage only works if you don't have the Unofficial Patch (and if you're playing on PC, you should).
Alpha Sapphire Well it's that and I don't like most elves too much, always seemed like they look down on humans and I purely like human races the most for their looks and versatility.
Try playing on a higher difficulty I used to play on adept but made a new character and played on legendary and found myself using potions shouts and spells much more often
For me I think orc and Breton are tied for the best playable races in the game because of the breton’s passive ability and dragon skin and the orc’s broken berserker rage ability
tbh there is no point of choosing a race to make an actual build they are just for role playing if this was Dark Souls where it matters for the first 100 hours but for Skyrim it's pure planning and skill
Wrong, orc berserker rage is the best ability. That with a maxed out ebony blade is one of the highest DPS in the game plus you heal. Races can give you an early boost, but with abilities like berserker rage and high born your race definitely matters
@dj46 yeah, but not everybody wants to take the time to level smithing, alchemy, and enchanting. And sure you'll be OP by the end of the game regardless, but with Berserker rage you can be OP immediately and be even more OP than any other race. They may balance out in the end, but that damage boost early game is substantial, and it does make the Orcs a better choice.
@@joshtatko4806 I wouldn't even say they balance out. They only balance out when they are in base mode. But when Orcs activate Berserkers rage they will always be stronger
@@zetros2533 with weapons, sure, but magic has the potential to have higher dps WITH enchantments and the like, plus sneak attacks with bows are incredibly overpowered.
i don't get why people want to pay another 60 dollars for the exact same game... just buy a new game, like the witcher for example, or any other rpg like skyrim... or go for another genre altogether, like eu4 if you want a timesink, i've got 3140 hours in that just conquering the world
They want to rebuy the game because it was fucking awesome and they would rather replay a better version of the game than some shit like EU4 or Witcher.
well that think of 50% resistance its called passive or ''active effects'' so actually as the berserker rage need to be used (not active at all time) it can be called abilities or skill
I always choose Nord because it is the best imo and most normal looking one. I'm really into vikings and I feel that the Nords resemble vikings the most.
same. and that's what the NORDS are supposed to be is vikings. is yours a 2 handed, one handed with a shield or archer. mine is a archer. I know it doesn't March the nord but what the hell
The best? Nords are one of shittiest races status wise lol, only thing good about them is the fact they make one of the best vampires due to the fact they get immunity from Ice spells if they turn into one, besides that, they're just a mediocre version of Imperials (no good bonus and shittier version of Voice of the Emperor as daily abity).
Agree, Breton's resistance to magic makes them the best, especially late game. Orcs are second because they can take half damage and do double damage once a day.
Remember The days of Morrowind and Oblivion when Argonians used to be extremely resilient against disease and immune to poison. You know it's kind of weird in Skyrim how Argonians do not match their lore. You know the part they're supposed to be Beast races that live in a biohazard. Bethesda you could have easily write them off as hybrids or mixed race, have excuse for a reason why they don't have the same abilities as the one in the previous games.
Also a little interesting fact about the Nords in Morrowind. They used to be immune to frost and resilient to shock. I'm guessing the shock resistance is a reference to the norse god Thor.
I remember the Argonians being immune to poison and decease when started playing Skyrim, I'm talking about 2011, also the Bretons if I'm correct had 50% magick resistance which was pretty overpowered, or my memory is broken or they just nerfed it after a few patches.
@@koala_loko4719 I played it for a good while and enjoyed it. It will always be a game I'll come back to for sure. Not sure how much skyrim gameplay i'll have going forward but it's nice knowing i can always revisit the Old Kingdom.
I just downloaded Skyrim today on ps5. About to see what the hype is all about. Thanks for this video lol I didn’t know anything about this game other than I missed out by not playing it on release
I generally pick the argonian just because it doesnt have any particularly specified skill, thus leaving the skill options open. It is also good for its resistances. Other than that i just pick anything that looks good. I personally dont ever use powers because i find them useless. But this list helps a lot when I want to choose something different. Thanks ESO. I really find your videos helpful and entertaining. Sorry for long comment but i wanted to get it all out in one go. :)
Death's Desciple I find powers useless too, when I bought the game, I picked Argonian cause I thought it looked cool, then I saw ESO play the Khajitt ( or Khajiit ) I wanted to play it, and then I saw ESO record a video that you have the best damage with your fist, then I wanted Khajitt even more, that didn't help me at all when I started over, cause I'm lazy and pathetic.
It is important to not that magic resist and magic absorb actually are 2 completely different stats. While you would think 50% magic absorb is basically 50% magic resist with a bonus there is actually more to it. Magic absorb doesn’t absorb 50% of the magicka, but rather there is a 50% chance to absorb all damage as magicka. This means that 50% of the time you take no damage. Now before you get too excited and make your Breton and spring to the atranoch stone there is one other bug to mention, that being that if your spells can cast on yourself. You will be unable to use conjuration spells at all if you have 100% magic absorb (and I think alteration has this problem too). Hope this helps someone!
*Orc is the best race.* Why? It's because they are the *only race* whose major draw cannot be replicated. Altmer are great - five free levels of magicka. But their magick-regen ability can be replicated by quaffing a pot. Breton are super...but complete magick-resist is obtainable by any race. Argonian? Redguard? Same as Altmer - quaff a pot. Dunmer? It's a unique ability but at high levels/difficulty it's not useful in the least bit. Khajit? Unarmed is not viable long term. *Orc.* *Objectively speaking.* *Without question.* *The best race.* Being able to double dmg and half incoming dmg is gamebreaking. It's *game over. Thanks for playing. GG. Orc wins.*
Orcs make good damage dealers not not tanks, the difference between orcs and bretons is survivability vs damage dealing,Bretons can have a high amount of magick resistance without enchanting, use the shield perk to resist magick, use the atronach stone, use heavy armor, use a mace for the highest maximum damage value, put points to ignore armor IF you want, get all the shield perks and one handed perks, max out enchanting and apply chaos damage to your mace, since your magick resistance is so high, focus on enchantments that give you more health or more one handed damage, the idea is to become a tank, you don't deal massive damage but your durability is very good. Ebony Warrior will stand no chance, especially with the mace perks and since you're a tank, his hits won't do shit.
Actually there's very powerful potions that can be made to one shot even the Ebony warrior on Legendary difficulty. Also the absorb magic is very useful with the atranach stone. In legendary difficulty, the orcs ability is really useless but magic is the most dangerous threat making bretons more viable
I always played the default race that the game chooses for you. I feel that the Dragonborn should be a Nord because only Nords before your character have been Dragonborn. For Morrowind I chose a Dunmer because the Nerevarine should be a descendant of Nerevar who was a Chimer(descendants of Dunmer). The only one that was lore friendly was Oblivion as you had no prophesied power like the Nerevarine or Dragonborn.
Actually the Hero of Kvatch(Oblivion) becomes Sheogorath I forgot about that important part and he's portrayed as an Imperial in Skyrim so I'm assuming that choosing an Imperial was canon for that game lol

@JBoiJ

Talos was a Breton. Its clearly the best race
Also use alteration to get +30 and do the quest in the temple of mara for another +15
@@Brizzle427 late reply, but you only need to get to 85% resistance (since that is the max) and not get the final alteration Magic Resist Perk.

If you put the gloves of the pugilist (found in the Ratway) on a khajit, you do 32 damage. Freaking sweet.
That is absolutely terrible. Win smithing, skills, potions and enchantments, you can bet a one handed weapon up to well over 100 damage. Plus you can put poisons on weapons.
Bruh jake you can get the gloves at level 1 and that like late game stuff

There is no 'best' race. The best race is the race you choose, and the character you make. Also, there's different things that seperate the characters from one-another. Example - Argonians give you the ability to breathe under water. The Khajiit - Allows you to easily sneak around and etc. So there's pretty much a character for everyone.
Or, if you're Elenwen, the High Elves
Or, if you are Ulfric, Nords.
EverythingAnarchy Or if you want to have an easy game: Breton
EverythingAnarchy I'm leaning towards khajiit, norf, or Breton

"The Orc has no abilities", 3 seconds later "the orc has the racial ability"
My guess was bretons from the start so I WIN
Here's how I'd honestly rank them:
The manly cat at 9? Are you joking? You obviously haven't seen ESO's unarmed build.
@@StyxTBuferd
Any race gan get 100% spell absorption with vampire + necromage perk.
@@StyxTBuferd Yes we did and this comment is from before that chain.

tbh there is no point of choosing a race to make an actual build they are just for role playing
if this was Dark Souls where it matters for the first 100 hours
but for Skyrim it's pure planning and skill
Wrong, orc berserker rage is the best ability. That with a maxed out ebony blade is one of the highest DPS in the game plus you heal. Races can give you an early boost, but with abilities like berserker rage and high born your race definitely matters
@dj46 yeah, but not everybody wants to take the time to level smithing, alchemy, and enchanting. And sure you'll be OP by the end of the game regardless, but with Berserker rage you can be OP immediately and be even more OP than any other race. Miguel Alencar he did say in his opinion.
Agree, Breton's resistance to magic makes them the best, especially late game. Orcs are second because they can take half damage and do double damage once a day.
I'm glad I've always chosen the Breton honestly I just thought it made my character look kinda younger tbh

I'm kinda going back to console gaming when the ps5 comes out so buying a new tv and mainly playing fps games on my pc. Not sure how much skyrim gameplay i'll have going forward but it's nice knowing i can always revisit the Old Kingdom.
@@ostrichious2042 i was not expecting you 2 answer me, i totally agree with you.
but i prefer xbox lmfao
Dark Elf might be one of the best races If ancestors wrath actually scaled with level
orc's were always my favourite but i'm surprised they came 2nd. I always found being a orc vampire funny because your teeth make no sense
This video was probably the most racist video I've seen that wasn't intentional
RunNGun how lol
you don't get it do you? lol
You know what's racist. I play as a Nord, but everyone thinks I'm a Redguard. That's Racist. My Mom was a Redguard, but my Dad is a Nord.
RunNGun fuck off
I just cried a little, thanks xD
The Breton was my number 1 from day 1 WOOT!!!
Ronald Smith all of my play throughout have been bretons
same
same
I like Bretons and Dark Elves simply for their racial abilities and powers.
Redguard
I just downloaded Skyrim today on ps5. About to see what the hype is all about. Thanks for this video lol I didn’t know anything about this game other than I missed out by not playing it on release
4 months later how’s your experience with the game now ?
When you're a khajiit that happens to be a werewolf and the guards say "is that fur coming out of your ears?
Jace Valimaa that’s happens to every race
Remember when the Daedra stopped opening Oblivion gates Black Marsh because the Argonians where so good at reverse invading them?
Those were good times
I've been playing a two handed weapon/heavy armor build with an orc recently. Seeing the decapitation animation never gets old.
resistance to disease has actually become useful thanks to the survival mode from the creation club
Not really. You can just just carry hawk feathers or potions of cure disease. Hawk Feathers have a carry weight of 0.1.
It's gonna be a fucking pain choosing the character I want to play
Scar I didn't ask myself, I found a mod that let us choose a Dremora. Love it.
Scar show me a dremora are they immortal
Scar Hadvar had seen some shit.
Scar choose khajiit 😀
Flaming0Sniper0 Gaming NPC's always insult khajiits.
Haven't played this game yet but when I get it I'm going to play as a Argonian
Isiah Cline argonians for life m8
Isiah Cline My first character choice back in 2012.
I ALWAYS pick the Argonian because I just love lizards. #ArgonianForLife

@@kingdiabeticus7720 who doesn't?
GG. Orc wins.*
Sam Rosenbalm what the fuck does quaff a pot mean
Quaff (drink) a potion.
I agree, objectively Orc is the best race. But subjectively it depends on ones playstyle
I'm half Mexican half White so I always play as a Wood Elf who had a Nord dad 😂
lmao
You should have picked imperial since they are more Hispanic xD
Mr. Rogers Most Mexicans have Mediterranean descent so it's still the same with imperials who are like italian/spanish
Lmao!
Ahhhh the famous country of 'White'
Gamepass brought me here. I've never played this game so looking forward to it!
why am i seeing this 1 week after i started a new game?😑
mr. krappykrabs ok.
I can relate lol, chose a redguard, want to be a breton but i'm already level 35 :(
TheAreaOf PenileLiquid if you play on pc you can just switch youre race through console command
I love Argonian #Pewdiepie
Thought you were Justin.Y for a second
Play as a Nord because SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORDS!
CidGuerreiro1234 YES
CidGuerreiro1234 hail ulfric the high king of skyrim
Thunder Sweeper2 what is that
A non religious person
Kevin Antolin Tiber Septim was a dragonborn and he was an Imperial. The game acknowledges that any race has the potential to be dragonborn
Nords are so boring though 😂
Tiber Septim was a Nord named Hjalti Early-Beard.
chomage well I was wrong in saying he's an imperial but he has not been confirmed as a nord either.
