Since no one else seems to have mentioned it, before going to Riverwood, you should actually go back through Helgen and head east. First, there's a nice little dungeon called Greywater Grotto near the path heading south. It only has a few wolves inside for enemies, but you can also find a few dead bandits with a chest, and an iron vein as well as a gold vein. Now that you can do any time. However, this next one will disappear after you get to Riverwood. If you keep following the road east of Helgen, you will find an ambushed Khajit wagon with a few bandits and a skill book inside the wagon. Further up the road, near where a Stormcloak camp will be, you will find a tiny cave with two wolves. Inside the cave is another skill book. Both skill books vanish once you arrive at Riverwood.
...and find out that you have missed something at the very beginning of the game. I didn't know about the bandit camp and the Talos shrine near Helgen.

Quick tip for those wanting to play stealth at a high difficulty: You can redirect your enemies with your arrows. They follow the sound, allowing you to get past them.
Yes like hitman. I never knew till like a month ago. It just really goes to show how amazing this game was for its time. I still think overall it's the best game ever made. And theres no way they couldn't do the exact same thing but better. Lol
The very first thing you should do is max out sneak by sneak attacking Ralof (Stormcloak that guides you in the first scene when Alduin is attacking) in the back for an hour. I got my sneak to Legendary 5 + level 100 in a couple hours just by swinging at his back with a dagger every few seconds. He falls to the ground after a minute - Wait for him to get back up and resume slicing. Tip: If you select perks for sneak while leveling, try to avoid upgrade your sneak damage. You will kill Ralof faster and it'll take more time overall to level up. Tip: Don't forget you can make a skill legendary more than once, this means you can leave the starting area as a level 50 (I did) with tons of perk points for current & future use. Tip: The best spot to do this (in my opinion) would be indoors, after killing the Imperial woman & guard. I started my slicy slice time when Ralof asked me to unlock the door. *Downside* - He will ask you to unlock the door for 2-3 hours so it's best to turn your volume down. Tip: When Ralof revives, most of the time he'll come back with very little health, instead of waiting for his health to regenerate, quickly kill him again - about 1 in 3 revives he'll come back with full HP.
Mike Anthony my tip to you: turn your difficulty up to legendary. it increases rolafs health well past the damage you can deal, so he recovers faster than you can hurt him. it removes all of that time you took letting him recover, so that you can just rapidly hit him and level up. I think you'll find your hour long method is reduced to about 15 minutes
Kill enemies on easy, switch to Legendary once you've killed them. Ralof doesn't attack you and as long as you don't unlock the gate you're not going to find any either. Once you've gotten your level high enough - switch back to normal or easy and proceed from there. The point is - Ralof doesn't attack you, he's a friendly unit. So you can hit him as many times as you like in the back to develop your sneak skill and he'll never take a swing at you.
I've been playing skyrim since it came out, and I consider myself a veteran, but this was hands down the best tutorial/ walk through I've seen. Great video
When you do the quest that takes you to Bleak Falls Barrow, bring Uthgerd The Unbroken (you can find her in Whiterun in the Bannered Mare, you get into the brawl with her, win, and she can become a followers). You will eventually come across a trap with huge axes swinging left and right. Once you cross Uthgerd will have to cross and at this point she will either cross with low health or be on the floor almost dead. You can then kill her easily and take her chan armor. You will not get a bounty or any penalties for this and you get strong armor at an early level.
What happens if you just kill her? Jw, I'm just starting to play Skyrim as of last night when I bought it. Just barely passed that mission this morning, too, lol. That's why I'm asking.
It's much better to leave her be. She is one of the best companions, and her armor is heavy, which is bad for light or sneak armor mains. The best way is to find much better armor and weapons by WATCHING THIS DAMN VIDEO
Paljit Singh I know I’m super late but what a fucking dumb idea. Her armour sucks, you should go to bleak falls barrow before whiterun, and killing her has literally nothing to do with going to break falls barrow
@@Brosyphus - - Bleak Falls Barrow has the axe traps used to kill her... That's what it "literally" has to do with the method mentioned above. Have you ever played Skyrim? Also, Steel Plate armor isn't bad. "Fucking dumb idea" ... Grow up.
How to have a lot of gold early too: Go riften, talk to Maramal until you buy a mara amulet. Go to Whiterun, and go to the Jarl quarter in Dragonreach. In one of the room there's a mammoth tusk, take it. Now to to Whiterun market and talk to Ysolda until she ask for a mammoth tusk. Give it to her and then equip the mara amulet you bought before. Talk to her again and she'll ask if you're interested in her. Say yes and go back to Maramal at Riften to marry her. After defeating the dragon at whiterun, you can buy a house for 5000 gold. Buy it and then talk to Ysolda and ask to move to that new home. She will say that she has openned a market and now you'll get 100gold everyday.
Not that there's anything to buy after you buy and upgrade what houses you want haha. Never bought one piece of equipment in any playthrough. Nabbed or made potions, even then I just used Restoration mostly. At best I would buy filled soul gems to level up Enchanting. Shame the game never did very good at making gold relevant after playing for longer than 10 hours or so, maybe even less to buy every house and max level Enchanting. I guess there's skill trainers but...eh.
Just so you people know you when you're in the tutorial tunnel there's a part where you go into sneak mode and wait to attack a bear. You can instead of immediately killing the bear, change the game to legendary difficulty temporarily so you level a little faster and you can just endlessly hit Hadvar or Ralof and they won't fight back. It's great for quickly leveling early game. I got to level ten before leaving the tunnel. My 1 handed was 40 something same with my 2 handed and my destruction was 30 something. It was really op
Additionally, as you level up your skills, don't go to the level up screen, and raise your character level. Keep it at level 1. Go to as many mines/dungeons as possible early on, and the enemies will be relative to your character level of 1. You just have to enter the mine/dungeon. Once you discovered a few (east of Whiterun has several good ones), level yourself up, skills as well, and go back in to the all the areas, and you'll be stronger than most bandits. Only a Bandit Chief may give you some trouble.
@@patogames5099 You ruin the savegame that way. The world is stuck with trash mobs forever. Bethesda did an awful work at balancing the game, to have a proper fun experience never temper weapons or armor, never invest more than 1 point in first perk of archery, onehanded, twohanded, never go higher than 500 HP build if you are melee. never use onehanded, two handed, archery enhacement enchants. Only offensive enchants allowed are elemental ones, never spend point on increasing each elementaldamage from destruction, break enchants. Dont play higher than adept because bethesda in their infinite wisdom messed up npc combat, they deal less damage between them too and take forever to end battles. If you are building necro build or assasin. For necro 100 health max, with vampirism and necromage perk 25 HP. For asassin no more than 300 HP. If i had patience i would make a complete guide on how to have a balanced and fun experience on skyrim. With these choices weapon quality and rng enchantments make a difference withouth breaking the game.
@@CommanderTato yes, I'm aware of that, but OP was looking at how to power level early on. Which, by your reasoning, is also breaking the game. The beauty of a game like Skyrim, with bugs and flaws, is we get to play it however we want. We can be over, or under, levelled as much as we want. I think that, along with a top modding community, is what has us talking about the game in 2021 still.
I think a good tip to add is when you get to the Torturers Room in Helgen when you get the Lockpicks, to Lockpick all of the cells and the locked doors down the following corridor. This will boost your lockpicking right off the bat.
+Shannon “Shanbob” Cheeseman if we're being specific it's actually elder scrolls skyrim special edition, remastered isn't part of the name you fucking idiot.
My thought is that nobody is a better guides man than ESO cause he gives the most important informations! Just keep the good work up bro ur the best!!💪💪👌
I think the best thing a new character can do is finish the Agent of Mara questline. It's very easy quest to do, and grants 15% magic resist as a perma buff. You essentially get a free perk for the rest of the game.
2019 it’s still relevant and Skyrim is still king and enjoyable and fun and giving. Great work eso and love watching and re watching your Skyrim and fallout guides.
Everything I’ve heard about Skyrim made me want to side with the Imperials. I played this game when I was younger and completely ignored the Civil War questline. On the special edition, I am still finishing the game without doing too much Civil War stuff. Now, I’m on the Switch version and you mentioning that the Nords (Stormcloaks) are the indigenous people to Skyrim made me completely change my view.
well the Nords conqered (probably butchered that spelling) Skyrim from the Falmer (Snow Elves) and drove them underground where the Dwemer preceded to blind them and they turned into the Falmer of Skyrim's era. so technically the Nords aren't the original peoples of Skyrim
6:38 weird i was playing a *twohanded* warrior while you were an *archer* character.I got the iron gaunlets of minor *archery* but you got the iron gauntlets of sure grip Maybe just a coincidence
Nice video - but you'll get much more gold if you pick up every single flower and mushroom you come across o nthe way to Riverwoood and then make potions out of them. Also, it's easier to carry than weapons and armor. (And by the way, Gerdur is not Ralof's wife.)
Ben Mitchell It's where you move your controller for aiming rather than using a control stick, for top of line aiming. Nintendo has started using it in their newest gaming systems like the 3DS and Wii U, if it's back on the Switch, it'd be great to use that kind of controlling in Skyrim, because to me it is more efficient :)
pro tip save 1 level up for tough boss fights so you can heal for free 1 time during the battle I think it works even if you dont choose to upgrade your health.
In the beginning you welcomed new Skyrim players to the community, you just earned my respect for being such an entertaining, respectful and all around funny guy. you earned a sub and a like :-)
I jumped into this as it was first es game I played. It was On offer and thought why not. I fired up for the first time my intended hour of play, turned into 6.. and now I'm here watching a video on everything I missed ... Great video thanks 😊
Another cool tip for archers: You could get an orcish bow once you finished Bleak Falls Barrow and have returned to Farengar. Delphine will be there and you can sneak behind her then pickpocket her orcish bow and other free loot like potions of healing and arrows. The bow has 6% chance to steal if you're undetected so just save scum your way through it lmao, same for the other items. OR Just get the bound bow everyone knows about lol
ESO, you had me hooked from the start. Straight to the point and with enough detail to get it done, unlike many of the other videos out there. You got my sub and notifications set! Awesome video
I Always go with Hadvar, and when we reach Riverwood and he talks to his dad inside the house I steal everything downstairs (including armor and coins upstair).
@@Cassian2506 no you can still trade with Alvor. i know this comment is late and whatever, but you can still trade with Alvor if you go with Hadvar at Helgen you just have to talk to him when he's using one of the smithing tables. i think it's like that with most blacksmiths that are found at their forges
This is a good video for beginners because I play skyrim all the time since 2012 and I showed showed this video to my brother now he understands it now and he has the free "house" and you did a good job thank you ESO for this video
I got a copy of Morrowind on GOG recently, and got really sucked into the lore. Haven't played Oblivion yet. but that's next on my list. I'll buy this when it's on sale.
Just a correction friend, Archery is effected by the Thief stone because it's classified as a stealth skill. Unless they changed it in the remastered edition. Otherwise great video for beginners or people looking to get back into the game.
Your contents are amazing. I played the game way back in 2012-13 but quickly quit because of so many glitches & bugs in game. But seeing your content convinced me to give it a go again. Hopefully the bugs will be absent this time
Thank you so much!! I played this game a long time ago when I was 12 and stopped cause I didn't know wtf I was doing & i always got caught stealing from people in the villages, but 5 years after I quit I'm deciding to reinstall my game into steam!! I never really understood why everyone liked skyrim so much, but it looks fun as hell now that I'm older.
Dude I'm 12 and I've been playing for 3 years now. I know everything about it, and stopped playing simply out of boredom because of lack of good mods and quests.
Minor correction--the Thief Stone benefits archery too, so it is a great choice for a stealth archer build. Thanks for the great guides--they're helpful and enjoyable.
Yes, I also choose The Thief Stone first because sneaking, lockpicking, pickpocketing, speech and archery are simply the skills I use most in the beginning.
I was wearing headphones at night in my room and at like 10:02 of the video my headphones were all the way up I thought a woman was right next to me 😂 I legit almost had a heart attach
I played this game for 10 hours when it first came out on PS3, it never really got me hooked. It's a pity since I loved Oblivion. But since that time I've played and loved both Dragons age Inquisition and The Witcher 3. So now going to give Skyrim another chance on th Ps4 pro in 4k. I'll be following your starting guide just to get a leg up.
INSTA Plays this shows how long I've played skyrim. 2 in Windhelm 1 in whiterun 1 in dawnstar 1 outside markarth 1 outside solitude 1 in riften 1 in the college of winterhold I will edit this comment if I find more!
stater pro tip. I myself carry everything from the start all the way through helgen and to riverwood its takes about 6 mins to walk there overecumbered and the joy of this is now your free to grab everything from anyone u stumble across on the way I suggest finding the hunter it's also possible to go get to whiterun hy floating in the river overecumbered.
Ok. I've done the beginning dozens of times over the years and I totally didn't know about that shrine! This whole video was interesting also. Thanks!!
I know the might sound crazy... but I think it would be more worth it to get a PC capable of running Skyrim and just mod it instead of dealing with whatever Sony is doing to their consumers.
Edwin Gonzalez Actually recently Bethesda and Sony confirmed that PS4 mods will be a thing. However, will be limited to only 1GB rather then Xbox One's 5GB. But 1GB should be enough for most mods.
I was removing some of my bookmarks and I clicked on this one. Little did I know it was going to give me Nostalgia back to when I was watching this video as a 9-year-old. Thanks ESO for aiding my Skyrim conquest.
+Colin Kelley additional content meaning the legendary edition stuff, mounted combat, legendary skills, legendary difficulty and other stuff, also some patches annoying bugs, but a lot of the good fun glitches are still going to be in the game
After the shrine of talos, if you go to the left on the path. You'll find a ritual site, with a necrophiliac mancer. He will summon a wolf familiar, and use a oakflesh spell. As well as frost bite I believe. But he's easy to defeat, and has another black robe on him. Plus a conjuration skill book, and a burial urn behind the table he was standing behind. Depending on spawns, there may be a couple of wolves and deer on the road.
Barokai Rein I'd beg to differ, there's some textures in the mod packs that dont look all that great. I definetly think that the water and lighting is better in the remastered version than most mod packs- as well as the stone pathing. However this mod does have better grass and tree textures
I love Skyrim so much. The first time I played it 5 years ago I saw a rabbit as soon as I emerged from the cave with Ralof. I chased it and by the time I returned to Riverwood I was level 47.
The place where you get the eleven weapons.. how do you get them to leave the room.. I stood around for an hour.. and by then the rest of the ppl returned to the other rooms... I did get the bow...
I played this game a year or two ago, but after watching many of your videos, I just had to buy it again! I had it first on Xbox, now PC! There's so much more to this game that i never found, such a missed opportunity!

Garrison Hoke Excellent point, wish I thought of that earlier.
Mike Anthony But wouldn't enemies be stupidly strong and all you have is your iron sword, Imperial armour and long bow with iron arrows.
Saboor Azizi You would just turn the difficulty back down
Why did that wolf have a ring? Fancy wolf
He ate another Nord, so the character found it in the Wolf’s stomach

I've been playing skyrim since it came out, and I consider myself a veteran, but this was hands down the best tutorial/ walk through I've seen. Great video
I love this channel so much. I just drop everything to watch the videos. It could be a "paint drying video" and I'd still give it a like and watch it

Conor O'Callaghan same here, only discovered it a week ago and I'm watching as many as possible before Remastered is released.

ESO he's not kidding! You have fantastic content, and the subscriber count shows it!
Paljit Singh I normally just take her to a unpopulated area take her weapon and butcher her for the armour
Grow up.
How to have a lot of gold early too:
Go riften, talk to Maramal until you buy a mara amulet.
Samuel Normand marry aela and wait a skyrim week for 1200 gold
Pikachu Skittle or..... go exploring and get 10000 gold selling stuffs
Samuel Normand you can just sleep in a bed or wait a lot too
Samuel Normand you could have just said get married and wait -_-
Not that there's anything to buy after you buy and upgrade what houses you want haha.
Is it possible for them to die though? When you do that, I mean
@@princeking8608 no they are a essential np can therefor they can’t die

I just started a new build (one of which I've never done) and I ALSO just got special edition so this video was very helpful. Thanks ESO
2021. 1500+ Hours in Skyrim (Thanks Legacy of the Dragonborn) and I learned quite a few new things!
Excellent!
6:38 weird i was playing a *twohanded* warrior while you were an *archer* character.I got the iron gaunlets of minor *archery* but you got the iron gauntlets of sure grip
Maybe just a coincidence
Yes...yes, it is just a coincidence...
Eso always finding another way to teach me new things about skyrim(i have played and beat like 30 times)
26:10 It's strange, the rain is so beautiful but I have been playing 100 hours now and it's never rained once!
Nice video - but you'll get much more gold if you pick up every single flower and mushroom you come across o nthe way to Riverwoood and then make potions out of them. Also, it's easier to carry than weapons and armor. (And by the way, Gerdur is not Ralof's wife.)
I love the way you narrate the quest dialog. Nice little touch. Keep up the great work, we love your videos :)
If Skyrim ends up being on the Nintendo Switch gyroscope controls would help massively
Augustine Vega i think it will in the switch promo video they show the guy playing skyrim
lucky43113 yea I hope it will be, I'll definitely buy it!! especially if there'll be gyroscope integrated!!
Steam controller gyro is awesome
Augustine Vega I saw the trailer too! Why on earth would they be playing skyrim on a Nintendo console? CONFIRMRED?
pro tip save 1 level up for tough boss fights so you can heal for free 1 time during the battle I think it works even if you dont choose to upgrade your health.
In the beginning you welcomed new Skyrim players to the community, you just earned my respect for being such an entertaining, respectful and all around funny guy. you earned a sub and a like :-)
Played and beat skyrim, but I'm still pumped to buy it all over again.
Ah for Pc it's free, and that's understandable
In America you beat Skyrim
In Soviet Russia Skyrim beats you
There goes another few thousand hours of my life. And I'll love every nanoinstant.
I jumped into this as it was first es game I played. It was On offer and thought why not. I fired up for the first time my intended hour of play, turned into 6.. and now I'm here watching a video on everything I missed ... Great video thanks 😊
I miss these tutorials for the newcomers like me, even 10 years later.
you know if you have done the golden claw side quest and went straight to the witch's hut it's a garenteed* random encounter
Joseph Tom That quest was so hard for me lol
Another cool tip for archers:
You could get an orcish bow once you finished Bleak Falls Barrow and have returned to Farengar. Delphine will be there and you can sneak behind her then pickpocket her orcish bow and other free loot like potions of healing and arrows. The bow has 6% chance to steal if you're undetected so just save scum your way through it lmao, same for the other items.

I Always go with Hadvar, and when we reach Riverwood and he talks to his dad inside the house I steal everything downstairs (including armor and coins upstair).
I always go with Ralof, because if you go with Hadvar you won't be able to trade with Alvor, and that really sucks.
I think I must be the only person who has never played this game. Looking forward to it though.
It's an epic game. I've poured over 800 hours into it, and I've never been bored once.
Lamer Gamer Only?
Lamer Gamer skyrim is the best game to exist. How could anyone get bored?
Holy shit, another person who has 800+ hours in Skyrim.
I got a copy of Morrowind on GOG recently, and got really sucked into the lore. Haven't played Oblivion yet. but that's next on my list. I'll buy this when it's on sale.
I'm so ready to get back into skyrim!!
I've been playing this game for the past 9 years and that was still rather informative.
Just a correction friend, Archery is effected by the Thief stone because it's classified as a stealth skill. Unless they changed it in the remastered edition. Otherwise great video for beginners or people looking to get back into the game.
I like the content, but the overly frequent ads, constant social media pop ups, and reminders to subscribe are a bit much.
agreed, too many ads :'(

PhoenixPalmer there's 4 ads on a 30 minute video what are you saying too frequent for? There would be 8 minutes of ads on TV for a 30 minute slot.

You're still just a kid
Dude I'm 12 and I've been playing for 3 years now. I know everything about it, and stopped playing simply out of boredom because of lack of good mods and quests.
Minor correction--the Thief Stone benefits archery too, so it is a great choice for a stealth archer build.
Thanks for the great guides--they're helpful and enjoyable.
Yes, I also choose The Thief Stone first because sneaking, lockpicking, pickpocketing, speech and archery are simply the skills I use most in the beginning.
23:43 "quite a hard fight" you could've killed her in 5 seconds with a sword or axe or if u didn't miss the shots with your bow
I've heard it's pretty awkward to aim a bow on a console compared to PC. Don't know if it's true.
I am an experienced Skyrim player and I found the beginning of the video unique and had things that I didn't know was there.
I'll be following your starting guide just to get a leg up.
does the dawnstar chest still work
I love Akari's chest best for far ingredients smith ingredients and enchanting in the game I hope it still works as well

Tumblintom1 maybe for xbox but definately not for ps4
I know the might sound crazy... but I think it would be more worth it to get a PC capable of running Skyrim and just mod it instead of dealing with whatever Sony is doing to their consumers.
Yh but they will need to be ported over shouldn't take too long however
Edwin Gonzalez Actually recently Bethesda and Sony confirmed that PS4 mods will be a thing. However, will be limited to only 1GB rather then Xbox One's 5GB. But 1GB should be enough for most mods.
Hey did u know Talos is actually Tiber Septim.Talos is his nord name.

I have Skyrim and the DLC's, so I get this for free on the 28th, do I also get the DLC's for Special Edition?
Remaster includes all DLC
remaster has all DLC already in the main game plus some addtional content
xgc666 It does not have any additional content besides the game and the original dlcs Bethesda has explicitly said so many times.
Colin Kelley guess i read wrong info somewhere, my apologies
