    I've just got an Instant Pot with Ultimate lid. It is so easy to pressure cook with! Now I have found your channel I can learn more about how to use it. Thanks! Also your English accent is lovely to hear.

      Hi Julia and thanks you so much for saying hello and your kind comments. I totally loved the Ultimate but mine went a bit wrong. It doesn't affect all of them so hopefully yours won't be affected. Such a lovely machine. I miss it!

    You should have thousands of subscribers with the effort and originality you put into sharing your know how. Your soup looks delicious and I'll definitely be making it, and if it's as good as it looks and sounds, I'll be canning it for the winter. I've wanted to learn some lentil recipes because they're cheap and healthy but I've never eaten lentil soup before so here's hoping I like it. Blessings.

      Ah thank you. Red lentils are a good 'gateway lentil' I think - if you don't like this one , try the very similar cumin one I did a while ago (with or without chard) - nearly everyone I serve it to gives it the thumbs up! Thanks for your support 😊

    Lentil soup is one of my favs. I'm the only one in my home that likes it. I tend to make it & freeze for later. So tasty & hearty. I can't wait to give your version a try. I gotta remember to pour it in slo-mo ; --D. Be well.

      🤣 it takes a bit of practice to pour slo mo but I bet you can do it 😊

    Just checking how you cook your lentils, love your channel. I've had my instant pot for a whole week now and I've sauted, pressure cookered, steamed, slow cooked, air fried and broiled absolutely love it, done ; fish stew, poached eggs, salmon, shepherd's pie, corn beef hash and fish fingers big lol !

      Hi Angela - ooh looks like you've got the Instant Pot bug too 😊. Thanks so much for that. With any lentil or bean, it's good to ensure there's always a little drop of oil in there if you're pressure cooking - helps prevent any foaming up.I usually slow release too. Thanks for connecting - and with so much positivity. Nice start to the day! 😊

    Oh my this was a very good soup. I wasn’t able to use all the ingredients listed as I lacked the mustard and fennel seeds, but nevertheless! This is definitely a make again. BTW, I came to your channel because of the name, esp the calm. Thanks!

      Thank you Amy - yes you can vary in so many ways. That's great. Thank you re the calm thing - I'm not much of a 'smash the like button' person so I'm hoping to bring a bit of calm in the storm with my channel. Watch this space and thank you so much for taking the time to give feedback - it really is appreciated 😊

    I woke up wondering which starches to use for my weekly meal prep, and happen to have plenty of red lentils for once! Can’t wait to try this! I wondered if you add the tomato paste at the end instead of during sauté because of some effect on the cooking of the pulses?

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  2 года назад +2

      That's a great question Caris. You'll see me doing this a lot in my Instant Pot videos for two reasons: The first is that I've found that often when adding tomato paste to the pressure cooking phase of recipes in the Instant Pot, it can cause a 'burn error'. I experimented putting it in at the end, and didn't notice any major loss of flavour, so I mainly do it that way for the Instant Pot. The second reason is that I'm sometimes also using it as a thickener and not just for the tomato flavour boost - if I add it to the end, I can add just the right amount for how I want the consistency to be. I hope that makes sense - and if you don't like those spices, I did a very similar video a year or so ago with cumin spices and added chard/spinach - that's a real staple here! Enjoy your soup

    Hi - Thanks for the video. May i know about the size of your instant pot with air fryer lid? Is it enough for 2-3 people?

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад +1

      Hi Punit , mine is the original (at last in the UK) nearly 8 litre duo crisp which is big enough for batch cooking and large chicken. Unless you're like me and do a lot of batch cooking, it would probably be worth looking at the smaller model 5-6 litre

    • @CookingandCalm

      Though if you do a lot of airfrying, the bigger the better. It's such a quandary! If you have opportunity to go and see them in a shop, that might help you decide

    • @punitshaw9154
      @punitshaw9154 Год назад +1

      @@CookingandCalm yes makes sense. I was thinking the same . I think 6 ltr could be enough for pressure cooking but may not be enough for air frying. So will check on that. Thanks

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm  Год назад +1

      That's exactly right in my own experience. I use the duo crisp for combo pressure cooking air frying a lot ( eg.pressure cooking chicken then swapping lids to brown off - see my duo crisp playlist for more examples) but if making a whole heap of chips/fries it's not huge capacity - I ended up with a stand alone Airfryer aswell for that kind of thing, reheating pizza slices etc but if I had to choose, it would be the Duo Crisp all the way as pressure cooking is amazing . Good luck with it all
