    I've been playing the cello going on 30 years now, and Karen is spot on about all the fun different things you get to do when you play cello with an orchestra, from melodic lines, bass lines, plucking and more (often on the same page of music). So glad I thought to choose it when I was a kid, and this is about as good an introduction to what it's like to play one as I've seen, even including the finger calluses, keeping the end pen (spike) from slipping during a concert, having to think about how the cello contacts your body etc. (though I have to admit it had never occurred to me to play my cello with fruit...)

    I was only meant to look at a little bit of this to just see the range of the cello (I'm trying to add a little into a piece I'm composing) but this lady seems so passionate about the cello - I couldn't stop watching.

    I think the video needs to mention rosin, because many people thinks the horse hair makes the vibration.

    • @lilmcchick4968
      @lilmcchick4968 8 лет назад +24

      The hair does make the string vibrate, the rosin makes it stick to the string.

    • @marichristian1072
      @marichristian1072 4 года назад +4

      Try playing without rosin and your bow will just slide down the string.

      @@marichristian1072 Yeah but try playing with just rosin and no hair
