I'm still on 3.73. Same car weight, but my 35s wheel combo is 10 kg less. Feels much better than I expected, so I'll probably regear only after blowing a diff.
I went with 5.29s. So far so good, been driving it for a few weeks and I am loving it. RPMs at 65-70 are a little under 3k RPM in 5th gear. It threw me off quite a bit, as in my head, it sounds like when it previously wanted to shift from 4th to 5th at highway speeds. That being said, I am running 35s, a tent year round, full storage system in the back, with a fridge and battery system, steel bumpers, steel skids, and a 270 Awning. She feels great both on and off-road. I've done 1 long trip and a few local runs at Santiago Peak (I live in Orange County, CA, we have local mountains less than an hour away) since regearing. It might be worth noting, that I am thinking about jumping up from 35s to 37s in the near future, so I geared to compensate for that.
@@CineCruiser-DUnknown That sounds like a pretty solid build! I can’t wait to take off work so I can do a few shake down runs. I’m in the gulf coast of MS, we drive for hours before we see mountains🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for watching and commenting👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I just ordered 4.56 for my FJ but my goals for it is for just the weekend trails. No really planing on heavy mods or tents. I agree if you go with heavy mods then 4.88 or higher would be the best choice according to the multiple forums I’ve seen. 😅
Absolutely! Congrats on the 4.56’s, you’re going to love what it does to your FJ! Be sure to let me know what you think after the install👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting💪🏻
I have 488 and my Sequoia. I was going to bigger but I figured 488 was perfect.. I also have front and rear Eton lockers. I relocated my rear shocks outboard with King triple bypass 2.5s I'm going to throw some more King triple bypasses behind my king King coilovers in the front for dual shocks . I already have King air / hydraulic bump stops and cans.I just need to get them installed I'm going to French them into the frame instead of a bracket. I just felt you would appreciate my Sequoia. Tilll the story now was there when they were building it. He broke down and Summit helped him out .
I did the 488 in my Sequoia . So no it was not a mistake. Summit was going to put 529s but 488 are perfect for 35 inch tires if you go up and tire size I would recommend 529. But as far as what it's like before 488s it will run at high RPM instead of 2000 you will be up around 4,000 5000 on the freeway. Treehouse overland put 529 and his but he is running 37in tires and he said he may go to 40 in.
After I read geared my Sequoia to 488 I haven't noticed any change in the mph . It literally takes me the same amount of gas to go 90 mi away from here and back it was reading 12.6 mph now it is reading 12.4 mph.. I went from stock size tires to 35x12.5x17 no body lift at all everything is still stuck my panhard bar is still stock position also my axles are still at stock position. But overall it is a 4 inch suspension lift. Sitting on a 3.5 inch total chaos long travel.. add to run custom 2.5 inch Bora spacers in the rear to make room for the outboard shocks I relocated. 13 ft by 6 inch stance
Total chaos and Coastal off-road fabrication are using pictures of my truck for marketing. There's videos on my channel but I've done a lot to it since then.
You made the right choice because you calculated your variables, elevation and so on. I daily my 2g auto Tacoma and it’s considered a light set up since I carry no weight but the 100lb extra in the bed. And another 100 lb(ice chest, jack, tools, spares) when I’m hitting the trail. Plus if you go 37”s your already set 😅
Yeah, I was still a bit nervous even though I did the calculations…but dang I’m so happy now! I’m loving it! Thanks for watching/commenting👍🏻who knows I want those 37’s one day🤷🏻♂️💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I've had to delete and re-edit my comment multiple times RUclips would not let me post it on Trail Recon. I had to chop it down several times even for your channel.
Check out my first gen Sequoia build that T.R. Brad's buddies in Prescott Arizona built for me. Summit 4x4 It's on my channel. There's only 2 short Videos of my truck LOL. 48 k in parts on it I spent 60k on a 6,700 Sequoia 😂 Just my bumpers and rock sliders are worth more than my truck when it will stock LOL.

That’s awesome! If you do regear id suggest 4:56’s if it’s a daily driver or long highway miles👍🏻 thanks for watching and commenting💪🏻

Who did your gears...I'm in Ventura Cnty.
@@OneFlewOver1776East Coast Gear Supply did the re-gear and shipped them my cores. I did the install over a weekend

I'm also planning in the future to replace that 4.7 with a LS3 490 HP crate motor 😲😁
That’s sounds awesome! I’ll definitely check it out when I get some down time. I love seeing what other builds!
I wish you made a comparison video of your FJ's MPG before and after you re-geared it. It would've been valuable to have that video.
Me too! Thought about it during the re-gear process…

4.56 is the best esp with a supercharger for a daily driver
@@ronniemerlyn4051 I’m not going to argue with you on that one. I’m glad mine is not my daily driver👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Just a comparison, Ford puts 4.7s on the Bronco for 35s.
