Toro cutting off. I let set would run about 45 seconds, stop but start again then cut off! would run on choke for awhile. BUT FINALLY STOPPED!! I found water in fuel pump?? mower is kept in barn never has been in rain? so I tore down replaced gas and new fuel pump . did it again! 2nd time took carb. apart cleaned thoroughly, blew out all lines then put back together ! Wished i had seen channel before all the work ,I did all this! THE OLD SAYING "Gas and Water donot Mix " This is exactly what happened to MY TORO . So thanks for video Raley's live and learn!
I got this mower specifically to be able to drive it through a 36 inch door ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend or gate It is a little tight with the grass deflector installed but has more clearance with the deflector replaced by the recycler/mulcher. This model appears to be popular and a little harder to find for that reason. I can't judge the dependability as I have only mowed the yard twice but everything else on the mower is very nice and working fine so far. I added options for the run hour timer, arm backrests, recycler/mulcher, towing bracket, deck lift assist and cover.
It was the problem with my EXmark. I think they are affiliated with Toro or vice versa, so it was EXACTLY the same. Super easy. I subscribed. You know what you're talking about. Thanks again.
Great video. This will help me address my problem, which is it barely/reluctantly starts after about 4 cranks. In the early years (MX5050 - 4yrs old) I did not burn off the old gas for the winter, so I know I have carburetor issues and probably a little water in the gas as well. I've been working to clean out bad gas and the carburetor since I don't trust myself to replace it (yet -I'm learning!).
Great video. I have the same mower that runs for about 30 minutes and then dies. Can choke it and get it to run enough to move, but not mows If I let it cool a while it will start up and run. Replaced coils, fuel pump and spark plugs. Also gas cap per dealer. Any ideas?
Just simply idle machine and let it cool down then shut it down. Set idle as low as possible. Old machines didn't have an anti backfire solenoid. They work just fine.
I have a42" Toro 74235 w/ FR651V. I keep getting a air bubble in the filter. I use the filter you recommend. I think the source is the draw pipe connection at the right angle brass fitting where the fuel line is connects at the tank. Any other suggestions?
I've got a newer model toro, looks like the same engine and I'm having the same problem. I drained the carburetor but didn't see any water droplets.. should I continue removing fuel from the lines and tank or would it be a different issue?
@@RaleysSmallEngines , The video shows it being water as the reason for running only on choke, so I'm curious how it runs at all if water is in the system and can pull the gas in only on choke,..
I have had to dump my 4235 gas tank a couple of times to dry bad gas/water. The tank is very easy to remove. First remove the faring that covers the fill neck. then disconnect fuel line where it attaches to the fuel filter. With the seat forward remove the fasteners that hold the tank to the bed. Then you lift the tank away from mower. Rotate the take to drain bad gas/water into a bucket. If worried about water leave uncapped tank in sunny spot with neck up. Leave it there long enough for the water to vapor out. My tank evident was real dirty and the filter inside the tank keeps clogging. I disconnect the gas line at filter and blow compressed air down the fuel line to the tank. The air blows the gunk out of tank filter.
You say there is a filter inside the tank? Working on a time cutter 5000, with idle issues, noticed there’s no inline filter between tank and pump. Thought previous owner just removed it for some reason. I’ll check
I have a single cylinder toro I cleaned the carb now it will only start with starter fluid but it will continue to run but won't start with just the key and choke
Thank you for addressing this. Happening right now on my Toro

Once again I like the pump. Great explanation on what to do about water in the tank 👍
Thank you sir I appreciate you watching and commenting. Your stickers will be in the mail in the am
@@RaleysSmallEngines Thanks Raleys, I'm mailing your stickers out this morning.
Nice idea on that homemade fluid extractor!
Thank you. I have a video of the fails when I made it, i messed up the first couple attempts. Got the idea from our good friend Rusty Rooster
Thank you for sharing my friend☺
Yes sir like the pump, makes it easy to remove that gas💪🏽
THANKS GRAVELY APPARENTLY HAS FUEL FILTER IN THE DAMN TANK, BLEW IT BACK AND NOW RUNS GREAT AGAIN,
Excellent!
Thank you
That's a lot of good info Raley
Thank you Rooster, as always your input is always appreciated. Hope all is well in Georgia
Speaking of water hope you came out ok with the storm ! 👍
Yes sir just rain and a little wind, wasn't bad at all. Thanks for asking. Hope all is well on your end my friend
@@RaleysSmallEngines We will see tomorrow

How would you pull the bowl from carburetor on the Toro timecutter ss 4200 . Or is it non cleanable
Fun video, tHanks

It's starving for fuel. Carburetor issue
@@RaleysSmallEngines thank you sir. Would you recommend I try to clean carb or just go ahead and replace the carb?
@@chadclark5204 at least try and clean the carburetor first, that's free.
@@RaleysSmallEngines will do. Thanks much
How do I stop the backfiring when I turn it off? People think I shooting at them LOL.

How long do I run it on low idle? How do I know when it's cooled down?

what does the water do that only allows gas when its choked?
Water?
@@RaleysSmallEngines , The video shows it being water as the reason for running only on choke, so I'm curious how it runs at all if water is in the system and can pull the gas in only on choke,..
@Randy Kuhns because with the choke pulled it is forcing water and gas thru. Too much water and of course it wouldn't run at all
What if it won't pull gas from the tank?

I have a Briggs v twin running on choke only
Changed fuel , filter, plugs, coils, carb. Still can’t fix it
I have a single cylinder toro I cleaned the carb now it will only start with starter fluid but it will continue to run but won't start with just the key and choke
There's 2 cylinder?
Yes it has two cylinders. Thanks for watching
I have the same problem
Same engine but revs keep dipping and doesn't run at same rpm. Changes plugs and everything cleaned carb. No water I believe
Gas running out muffer
