My lawn mower would not start . After watching this video, I ordered and installed the solenoid. The only issue I had was getting a plastic cap off of the top of the original solenoid was a little challenging, but I got it off. You saved me a lot of headache and frustration!! Thank You so much!!
Thank you so much for posting such a detailed video. Like most people commenting, I've been searching for a basic walkthrough of how to debug this problem... Couldn't find anything from anyone. I appreciate you taking the time to do this. This is my project for the morning!
Buddy you just saved me a headache LOL ! Thanks ! Can't wait till daylight to get working on mine . You made it look easy . I've got one just like yours . You helped me out a lot . Thank you sir .
Was able to mow my lawn yesterday before a party because of you. You saved me. Thank you! Solenoid on order and will fix shortly. Well made video. Love the mustache. haha
Thanks for making this video! I had run through a field after doing the yard with a lot of brush in it and had a bunch of brush wrapped up throughout the mower when I finished... So, I pulled the brush out and rinsed off the mower. Trying to start it up to put it away and nothing. My first thought was I got the switch wet. But, that thing has sat in the rain before and not had an issue. The first part of your video was what solved my problem. I started checking connections. The brush from the field did a number on my connections. I feel stupid and relieved at the same time! Thank you!!!
Good video buddy. I figured this was my problem you just helped me confirm. Your video was the right amount of explanation. Some of these guys put videos out and just love, love, love to talk. What I like to do before I remove any wires is to take a few clear photos that I can refer back to to ensure proper replacement of color wiring. GOOD JOB Sir!
Hello, Your guidance was very good as you slowly go step by step in this process which I find more informative than other videos,I have a Toro zero turn and now I know what I will do to hopefully test my solenoid if that's the problem thanks... And it was!.
This man learned by doing and not theory. His test on solenoid was meaningless because all he did was by pass the solenoid. If the solenoid was good and the control arm switches were bad or if the PTO switch was bad a new solenoid wouldn't fix it. To test the solenoid you apply power to pole that receives the lead from the starter switch. When you disconnect a battery you disconnect the ground first, When you connect the battery you do the ground last
When you used your screwdriver to test the solenoid connection, did you have to crank the key or did touching the two do it? I ask because there wools be no way for me to test otherwise if I’m not sitting on the seats safety switch.
Hi there. This is very helpful. My SS5000 has something weird. I use the mower. After using it a while the engine shut off but the starter stayed on. Then it would not turn off even when key in off position and taken out. I am not sure if it would be the solenoid or the ignition switch. Any suggestions?
So I was getting the click noise yesterday, but if I messed with the key I could find a sweet spot that would start up the mower, but as soon as I tried to engage the arms the engine would start cutting out. Same would happen if I engaged the PTO
So what if I get to the point to where I’m creating a jump on the solenoid with a screw driver but instead of starting it just drags? That’s the issue I’m having. Right now idk if the starter is good or not . I just replace both of the starter and solenoid and also a voltage regulator two weeks ago.
@@samuelwilliams6983 take black jumper cable and hook to batter on - side take red cable and touch the bolt that holds power cable (red) coming in. If starter turns over starter is good. If machine doesn’t start you have another issue
What is the black box next to the solenoid? Could that be a problem for it not to crank? My mower sounds like it wants to crank but it just clicks a lot. I tried to bypass it with the screwdriver but I just hear it clicking a lot in the box.
I'm confused when you said if it's working nothing will happen besides sparks. Does that mean the starter itself is bad then? Correct me if I'm wrong but with the key on and the gap closed aren't you sending power to the starter either way? Causing it to turn unless faulty?
@kbltexmex happens! This video reaally helped me alot with my 30 year old dixon zero turn I was having the same problem with. I would have never solved my problem without your input as I am a total noobie to working on mowers in general. Subscribed to the channel. Thank you for getting back to me!
I am pretty sure that is whats wrong with mine. I might just clean my nuts and terminals with a wire brush and it will make contact. Sometimes you can hit the solenoid with a hammer and it will start working. Thanks for the video.
Me pasa lo mismo pero al girar la llave quema un fusible, ya llevo como 20 fusibles quemados, y este video es algo que puede ser el problema de mi zero turn
Bear with me a moment; You turned key to the on position- jumping the posts should start engine. The shorter posts should be key turn to start which engages top posts. On mine more times than not it Hard click clicks and cycling the key a dozen times she fires up and runs fine till next time which it might start up the first time. My seat shows a weak ground, and machine will start with seat up, the solenoid shows good power from battery, both smaller posts show strong ground. Yet she will start up. Thoughts?
Will you help an old veteran? Bought Titan Model # 75302 406712152 last year. From day one, when I started it, it missed a little then ran OK. It died. It will start back up & run for 4 second then run so badly you know it will dye. When I operate the coke, it makes no difference. It smokes white/blue fumes as if it is getting to much gas. What should I check 1st ? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Hey man thanks for making this video. I have a smiliar issue for my Toro SW 500 (Timecutter). I'm not the first owner but it will turn but not crank and I put a new battery in it today. Yesterday I got it to start twice and mowed a little. But it seems like dumb luck when it does. I did that solenoid test and just had a small volcano of sparks but no start. Everything was tight. Start with the small things first, check engine oil level sometimes they have low oil switches to prevent damaging engine. Check spark plugs they can work loose. Check fuel valve is open. Check battery. If all is good spray some starter fluid into intake and try starting
