      Your food always looks delicious better than any restrurant & more delicious. Luke knows how lucky he is & soneday the kids will also, As a kid in the 50's ( on my brother & I) we ate it until it was gone, even if it took 2 or 4 days to eat it up. Never said we didn't like it,, mom didn't run a restaurant.

    • @Kat_WD
      @Kat_WD 5 месяцев назад +10

       The food safety standard is to use cold water. With warm water, the outer layer of meat will rise above the safe temperature too fast, while the center is not thawed. When I was in the fast-food restaurant business we rounded numbers off. So, for me, the safe temperature for meat is 40 or below. I think technically it is 42 degrees, but 40 to 120 as the unsafe zone is easy to remember. This is why it's also recommended to not put frozen meat in the slow cooker. Of course, I think that we've all probably eaten meals that didn't conform to these ‘rules’ and were just fine. This is really just an FYI.

    Another recipe with ground beef is moussaka . Layers of thinly sliced potatoes and ground beef and onions seasoned. Bake on 400F for 20 minutes then whisk some eggs with cream and seasoning and pour over and finish baking uncovered for additional 15-20 minutes. You can put some dry parsley on top❤

    Love all your meal ideas!! One way that I love to use my roast cuts is to put it in a crock pot, pour a bottle of ranch over it (I like the primal kitchen ranch), sprinkle some pepperoncinis on top, salt, pepper, and I typically throw on a packet of the garden ranch seasoning from thrive market. It’s SO good. The best way to make roast in my opinion.

My family enjoys adding fresh cucumber slices to the bowl for crunch and shredded carrots soaked in rice vinegar. The slight pickled carrots are a perfect acidic touch to the recipe. So many different creative toppings for such a good basic recipe.

    Instant Pot butter chicken is one of my go-to dinners! And you can put the boneless skinless chicken in FROZEN, just add a couple of extra minutes, which is one of my favorite things when I've forgotten to pull meat from the freezer. Korean beef rice bowls is another go-to around here. Sometimes I saute some quick veggies to go on top, sometimes we just eat the beef, rice and top with the green onions. So good.

    I used to batch cook like you and then found out how much histamines multiply within hours of saving leftovers and exponentially with time. I’m trying to fresh cook as much as I can now that I know how much that happens. It’s no little amount so I’m frustrated but watching your videos made me see you cook fresh meals for lunch and that has really encouraged me to do that. I was notorious for double cooking dinner to have lunch the next day but one of my sons developed psoriasis and one daughter was complaining about tummy aches a lot. It’s helped a lot but you have encouraged me greatly to cook lunch fresh and I only have 5 kiddos. 😉

    I love that you made several meals in one day so that way you can rest a bit on other days. I haven't owned an instant pot in over a decade. I got one for my bridal shower when I was 20 (20 years ago) but used it once. I think lately it would be helpful, but then I realize I am not much for a slow cooking person. I can understand your annoyance at being excited to get a bigger instant pot but already having the smaller one's pieces.

I thought it was funny when I heard that part come up in the video as I was making my roux. I "meal plan" by making 3-4 meals for the week and have veggies that Ive home-canned and in steamer bags in the freezer. I also make a big batch of rice or quinoa and either seasoned potatoes baked in the oven or mashed potatoes to go with whatever I prepare.

    I was just thinking this looks exactly like our korean beef recipe we do. We found the recipe many years ago. Since then I have used it with Canadian goose that I cut up really really thin and fine ( almost like a ground meat). It tastes really good that way if anyone else has a husband who hunts wild geese ;) But remember not to cook it too long and use low heat or else you won’t be able to eat it; it’s a good meat but doesn’t need to be cooked long.

    Just found you as I received some sourdough starter from my niece at Thanksgiving and had no idea what to do with it. I was gone for a week after Christmas and found you as I wanted to know how to keep and use a sourdough starter that wasn't "fresh". I'm not in your analytic majority...I'm over 50 and I am very thankful for the video I found and used to make my first loaves of bread. I am now more relaxed knowing I don't have to"babysit" this starter and using the discards. requested your ecookbook and look forward to reviewing. Thank you.

    Korean beef bowls are a favorite of mine too. Egg roll in a bowl I make a lot with ground chicken or turkey. Mae Ploy is amazing on the korean beef bowls 🤤

    There’s a viral yogurt + flour (plus leavening I think) that is so so so so good. Lisa. Unless it turns u off because it doesn’t take sd- try it! For a fast flatbread it is amaaaaaaaaaazing.
