I managed to test drive one about two weeks after they were first available. It was sold while I test drove it. I went home and called dealerships. My closest dealer guaranteed sticker price for any maverick ordered direct thru them. 6 months later took delivery. AWD, tow package, XLT, rear slider. 31k. Had almost 2 years now, it’s been the best truck I’ve owned by far, and I have owned both F-150s and a 2004 Tacoma. It’s the perfect balance of seating, internal storage space, bed size and utility, and driver amenities like CarPlay, multiple USB and 110 outlets, Bluetooth access to phone and Siri. Easy to park. 250 hp and 8 speed transmission. And 27 mpg on longer trips. It carries 1500lbs like it’s not even there (better than the Tacoma). Despite minor annoyances like the auto engine stop/start thing you have to disable every time, and the shift knob that gives no tactile feedback of when you hit drive or park, there is zero buyer’s remorse with this Maverick.
I too purchased the cyber orange. In my mind I thought it would be closer to Nissan's burnt orange. It's definitely definitely more yellow than orange, but I love it for the very reason pointed out in the video. No need to ever hit the key fob to find your truck. Odometer just turned 5K and the truck still averages 45mpg. Love this truck!!
Currently driving a 2023 Maverick XLT Tremor and loving it. Nowhere near the mileage as the Hybrid (expected; ~27mpg), but it handles backroads and beaches like a champ. Supremely great balance between Utility & Fun. For those Infotainment glitches and hang ups, here's a handy trick: When the vehicle ignition is on Press & Hold the Radio Power Button/Volume Dial and the Seek button (>>) at the same time for about 5-10 seconds until the Ford symbol flashes on the screen and it resets.
I got the 22 XL hybrid 2 yrs ago and am very happy with it after 33,000 mi. I got the hitch, rear slider and CP 360. I've only towed a trailer a few times but it does well with both my small trailers. I haul a lot and find the bed is very adequate. My Ram bed is only 6' so only 25% longer but loves to drink gas so it stays parked a lot. My 23 XLT hybrid is scheduled for Nov 20 build.
As for the 'cuby hole' next to the 8" display: Most people who are working need an employee ID badge. Most people attach their badge to a lanyard wore around the neck. This is the perfect place to store your badge when not wearing it.
New to your channel well done. I’m from Southern California. I received email from Ford that my 2024 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid is scheduled to be built next week. Which I find suppressed since I place my order back in July this year. The reason I picked this Maverick is to use as a basic transportation A to B work vehicle with good MPG doing the week. Saving my 14 MPG Toyota Sequoia 4WD with three miles inch lift on 35 inch tires for weekend fun. I’ve seen few coworkers owning this Ford Maverick and they said been very happy co cart handling. With luck my Maverick should arrive sometime in December.
I watch a lot of car / Truck reviews. Id like to say I found yours a refreshing change in that your right to the points that matter, Clear, and without any fluff or drama thrown in to blurr what we're all here to know, which is just the facts.... Thanks, I enjoyed this... and PS, I own a Ford Ranger of the same color...and I love the color. Nothing more BOARING then the usual Black / White / Gray crowd.
I have 2022 Maverick Lariat, FX/4 with 4K tow. I'm still amazed at what this Truck can do... although I have recall issues. I hope Ford gets these fixed. I love the look of my Maverick... Too!
You can reset the infotainment center by holding down the power and fast forward buttons at the same time for about ten seconds. It comes in handy for such a glitchy system and you don't need to turn the truck off.
And yes. This has same issue other models. I have noticed that an update fixed a lot of the issues I was having in my Fusion. I hope to be picking up my Maverick this week!
Late Boomer (Baby Boomer) paid >$27,000 for an XLT 2022 Maverick… and the same for a Brand New 2010 XLT Ford Explorer, Sport Trac…. Maverick has even more equipment and over a decade later they’re at the same class and size. It’s just like life. I bought the Explorer at the heights of the great recession, and I bought the maverick before anybody realized what it was. You just Gotta be smart about these things. Today I would seriously consider the new Buick……
You can reset the radio unit by pressing the power button and the skip button and holding for a few seconds, saves some time over turning off the truck
Cubby = Garage door opener. Only thing that makes any sense unless you get something 3d printed to fit in and transform it into something actually useful.
The brakes being grabby is a ford thing. I think they do it for safety. The 2016 fusion is the same way. One cool thing is that if you get the XL, you can still remote start it in the Ford app even though it’s not a listed feature and you don’t get a fob for it.
For the cubbie hole next to the touchscreen, you can fit a pack of Big Red, Juicy Fruit, and wrigley’s double mint perfectly in it. 3 flavor options of gum at a moments notice what’s better than that. As of right now that is literally the only use I have found for it, other than buying a 3d printed after market accessory
I have a 2024 and I really like it. I wouldnt get another one because of the price now vs what you get. I have an XLT with the 2.0L and after taxes it was almost as much as my f-150 was a few years back. Its a very basic little truck for what I feel is to high now.
Hey Seth, cool truck. At certain angles it does look orangish. Nice mods to the truck, I thought the hockey stick stripe was stock. Excellent way to break up all that orange. So I like this content on the channel, keep up the great work. Ride Safe
Right now im driving 700 miles a week due to job responsibilities. For now my little 05 colorado is treating me well. Can't wait for my milage to come down so i can look into getting a maverick or maybe even a toyota stout if they wver come out lol
Great video. I’m a subscriber. Clean no nonsense, informative and Thankyou for not adding cheesy jokes. I’m interested in buying the vehicle for highway and light plywood and Sheetrock trips to home depot. I think a lot of men would be interested in a video of you buying sone plywood and Sheetrock and seeing how the bed does. I believe you have to cut a couple of 1x to get above the wheel well, but ford added a nice easy slot for that.
For the cubby hole I use a 3d printed phone holder. It works awesome, feels like a duel screen computer setup. Phone for music navigation for the other
If you have issues between the infotainment and cell phone connectivity, try holding the volume button and track right button down simultaneously to reboot the infotainment system. This should save you from shutting the truck off and restarting it.
You mentioned that you have the hybrid and the 4000 lb tow package. As far as I aware the 4000 lb tow package is NOT available with the hybrid. You are limited to 2000 lbs towing. The 4000 lb tow package requires the 2.0 Ecoboost engine. Otherwise great review. And, yeah, what is that cubby storage for next to the infotainment screen?
Nice video. That’s my truck to a T except I have the hybrid. The guys at work have named it the Short Bus. I wear that as a badge of honor. I don’t like the window deflectors, I’m probably going to rip them off and put on after market. I was disappointed when I could not install mud flaps with the fender flares installed. Waisted money. I see you also did the black Ford emblems. I’m considering putting a black mountain scene where you have the black stripe because I do a lot of backpacking. I ordered in September 2021, received it 23.5 months later. I’ve got 3,000 miles on it and am very happy.
We own a 2011 Expedition with 163k miles on with having had nothing other than regular maintenance. We also had an F350 diesel that was well over 200k miles, so I guess I'm unclear why you expect a reliability problem?
We just bought a 23 XLT - twin to yours in cyber orange. 4K tow package (not available on the hybrid as far as I know). Not sure about that cubby either - would love to put something in there to hold my phone vertically, essentially covering the cubby hole with my phone screen. Android Auto has similar glitches so it's possibly a Ford thing. Hopefully they'll refine the integration through updates. Apart from the engine sounding like a moped, we're happy with ours one week in....
@@GreatDrivingRoadsUSA usually I get a text or email from FordPass. Some I was told in person. I took my vehicle in for a side-curtain air-bag replacement and they told me I had 3 others. The shift-knob assembly replacement took 4 visits to diagnose the problem and fix it.
i feel like that side cubby next to the infotainment screen is probably for packs of cigarettes lmao. My stepdad has a spot like that in his wrangler and it fits them almost perfectly lol.
C-max with a bed- not a bad proposition, but I decided I'm not in for another commute car- even one with a bed for those eventualities. But after some 45 years+ of driving, I finally took the plunge. My kid has the C-max now and has north of 270k miles on it.
@jeedwards1981 here's the deal- and I kind of expect the same with the Mo-chine- at about 50k, a few things starting going bad- the CVT transmission especially- I almost had the car paid off, and it was out of warranty. So after the transmission got warm, it started slipping. Since the warranty was up and the car was officially mine, I bought a tuner chip off Ebay and it reprogrammed the car. I haven't had a problem with the transmission since (setting at 270000 miles now) The usual- frequent oil changes, airfilters 100k sparkplug, new shocks and struts and alignment at 200k. No need to change brake pads yet, but I'm telling the kid power steering fluid, brake fluid, and antifreeze should be flushed- but yeah- no serious problems yet at 270k.
@GreatDrivingRoadsUSA I haven't heard too many good things about the CVT, I seriously think my car was jerri-rigged to be too expensive to drive after the warranty expired. Fords- blah! My mom took her focus into the dealership for oil changes ever since she bought it. After the drain plug stripped out, they charged her $900 to remove and replace. And against my advice, she paid it. The same hybrid system in the C-max went into all the other hybrid vehicles- except the F150. If I trusted Fords a little more (well, a LOT more) that would have been the truck for me.
I have sen some people put figurines in the cubby. I have a plan to mock the p-51 red tail when mine finishes getting built so I'll probably look for one of those to put in mine.
The little space besides the screen could be very helpful if the back of it is smooth/big enough to hold a [magnetic] phone mount - then it would hold a mobile phone exactly where it would be most helpful to reach the touchscreen of it, while driving. Keeping the eyes on the street ... and drive in legal hands-free mode.
i love to think i need a fullsize truck, but i don't... to save 1500 a year in fuel and spend less up front i'm pretty sure i don't need a fullsize truck. back when they were cheap everyone would just jump to the fullsize as they were so little in the difference in a small truck to fullsize... fuel prices and truck prices are changing this
I got an AWD XLT, I like it very much, but when sitting at a stop light for a long time. The streering wheel turns so the turning light goes off. It is like having a ghost in the truck. Has this happened to anyone else?
Yes! Meant to mention in the video I got a very inexpensive soft cover from Napa Auto parts. They will deliver it. Just doesn’t lock so not ideal if you plan on having valuables in the bed
What I wanted was a Hybrid AWD which was suppose to be avail for 2024 but yet, here we are & no Hybrid AWD however Ford is teasing about and all electric Mav so that may be out first. Im thinking about it. !
I love this argument,,,, I need the big Chevrolet Silverado to haul the boat to the lake house. HELLO.. pay someone to haul the damn thing to the thing. Take the extra 40 grand and take your family to Europe for you know a month.
Love my Maverick XLT Hybrid. What I would like to see when they refresh it is the bed be 1 inch wider and 5 feet long. Also make the hybrid AWD, tow 5,000lbs and update the infotainment screen to fill the cubby and have wireless apple car play and android auto.
It’s the simple…. If in 2021, you ordered a brand new three bedroom two bath starter home at 3% interest rate. OR A 2022 MAVERICK AT O%. You did very well. Sorry for those of you who missed out.!!!!!!!
The only thing I want to know is what kind of NIGHTMARE did your dealership(s) put you thru? Two lots held my factory order hostage for $12k and another sold it out from under me - while I was signing the papers. I want a Mav, but I’m afraid of what I’ll do to those vultures next time
I just can't trust Ford quality. The 2020 Escape I'm driving right now is the biggest hunk of junk i have ever owned. The problems are too numerous to write here. I was loyal to Ford for a long time, but no more.
If you can see that color from a mile away, know that the cops too can see it from a mile away. So no running lights or burning donuts or passing on the shoulder or any other stupid sh. !
Unfortunately, this vehicle is only sold in the Americas, so sad it would be an international sales hit, but sadly Americans are too lazy to bother with the export market unlike the Asians whose companies now are far more productive in numbers and are leaving the U.S. companies behind.
The cubby hole next to the screen is a Michigan option for neatly stacking 5 rows of joints, or morning after abortion pills. Super convenient after leaving your favorite dispensary. The cubby is based on the specification laid out by the wild whacky woke girls, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

I had the 2023 cyber orange. Daughter called it school bus yellow. Wife wrecked it and it was totaled. I loved it and ordered another one.

I added a Kicker hideaway sub behind the back seat, makes a huge difference for the audio. I use the little cubby for my garage door opener.
Kicker in the back is a great idea
The color is good for visibility to other drivers on the road, good for avoiding accidents.
That’s true!
Or good for tickets lol
I ordered a 2024 Maverick XL, Cactus Gray, in July 2023 and it should be delivered sometime in March. Loved your video.
awesome congrats, you'll love it!
Did you order the gas or hybrid? Ordered a xl hybrid July 2023 as well and still waiting...
Gas

That’s a good idea
At 2:45 you say you're glad you got the 4000lb payload capacity but you have a hybrid which only offers a 2000lb capacity.
Yes, I misspoke there. Meant I got the towing hitch package I think it’s like 2000 pounds. Just enough to tow a single motorcycle.
Correct. Hybrid payload is 1500#. Towing is 2000#.

Great review! Very informative.
I think the pocket next to the infotainment is good for stuffing my wallet whenever I'm at a drive-thru.

I thought the brakes issue would go away in a month or so, but still does it. True the remote start is a great bonus, especially in the winter!

For the cubby hole next to the radio, I have seen 3d printed phone holders installed in it.
I use the right side of the radio for my remote garage door opener
That would work well for me if I had a garage!
Thanks for the info! Got my XLT 4 days ago but never motivated to try sport mode. Now I'll give it a try.
Not as good as a sports car, but it’s a fun mode!
I'm interested in one of these.... the 2.0 turbo, just worried big time about the longevity of the 2.0 after they had issues, class action suits, etc.
For the cubby hole I use a 3d printed phone holder. It works awesome, feels like a duel screen computer setup. Phone for music navigation for the other
I’ve seen those!
Fun fact, yellow gives you the best resale value out of any color on the market. I personally really like that color. I wish they still offered it.
I have heard that!

Tire gauge in the cubby hole.
The SC bed is only 2" shorter 😬
nice review, plusses and minuses

Seriously considering buying one next year. Looks like the stereo system has a slot for CDs. Is that true?
Definitely worth it! The cubby hole to the right of stereo is too small for CDs

but yet, here we are & no Hybrid AWD however Ford is teasing about and
all electric Mav so that may be out first. Im thinking about it.
!
I know!
The 4K towing package is not available on the Hybrid.
Just a point of clarification, you can get a tow hitch, rated at 1.5K, on a hybrid, just not the 4K towing package.
I love this argument,,,, I need the big Chevrolet Silverado to haul the boat to the lake house. HELLO.. pay someone to haul the damn thing to the thing. Take the extra 40 grand and take your family to Europe for you know a month.
Does your moon roof open?
Yes no problems there
Love my Maverick XLT Hybrid. What I would like to see when they refresh it is the bed be 1 inch wider and 5 feet long. Also make the hybrid AWD, tow 5,000lbs and update the infotainment screen to fill the cubby and have wireless apple car play and android auto.
Same here!
Sounds like a new Ranger…
How is the front wheel drive hybrid in the snow?
So far so good just need decent all season tires
Invisible truck!
I sell on ebay. What do you do for a living?
It’s the simple…. If in 2021, you ordered a brand new three bedroom two bath starter home at 3% interest rate. OR A 2022 MAVERICK AT O%. You did very well. Sorry for those of you who missed out.!!!!!!!
The only thing I want to know is what kind of NIGHTMARE did your dealership(s) put you thru? Two lots held my factory order hostage for $12k and another sold it out from under me - while I was signing the papers. I want a Mav, but I’m afraid of what I’ll do to those vultures next time
I’ve heard many such stories. I actually ordered mine at n Oct 2021 and received it exactly one year later
5:30 that is supposed to hold your smokes and lighter ... sorry, I thought everyone used it for that.
I keep my driving gloves in the cubby.
I like that!
Bad engine block there going to have to replace the engine. Also the transmissions are have problems before 100k miles.
I saw where a person didn’t like to sit on his wallet and used the cubby by the display for that.
That’s not a bad idea!
I just can't trust Ford quality. The 2020 Escape I'm driving right now is the biggest hunk of junk i have ever owned. The problems are too numerous to write here. I was loyal to Ford for a long time, but no more.
Hope to avoid that with the Maverick!
@GreatDrivingRoadsUSA I get it, but I'm not willing to risk that kind of money on hope.
Do a video at 65k then I believe.
The cubby hole is for cigarettes
10000 mi review is Ludacris Ludacris tell me when you get $80,000
Hear strange noises walk away? I walk before i buy🤔
🤣
Tissues, napkins, gum? in the cubby hole.
If you can see that color from a mile away, know that the cops too
can see it from a mile away. So no running lights or burning donuts
or passing on the shoulder or any other stupid sh.
!
True!
Hybrid cannot tow 4k
10000 me review are you Sirius
Have no fear the Toyota Stout is coming! Bye bye turd maverick sales 😂
Turd Maverick sales? Ford sells every Maverick it can make. They don't sit on the lot a week. Yeah, real sales failure! 🙄
They ain’t work 30k+… better off with a used F-150 for that price.
Get high and get laid at the same time. Thanks.
Really handy for condoms too.
OMG. That is not a good vehicle.
Who wants a FWD pickup? Need to get awd in the hybrid.
Dude, you posted a video, you are not a youtuber. You have 74 subs🤔🙄🤣😂🤣😂🤦🏻♂️
