@@rexxephoenix in college I had a brand new 8700$ chevy sprint and that was amazing on gas, comparable to my maverick but it lacked any comfort or safety, design, no stereo, 14 inch wheels. I could squeeze 5 friends in my sprint, but we were all in our 20s. Haha! Can't imagine now if we could fit in it.
The mav 3.5x more expensive has many features plus far more cabin room, a decent bed to do most of my needs.
I think its its about the same price as my sprint on what the truck offers when I base wages from the early 90s on today's current salaries.

I have a 22 hybrid. Have driven it about 9500 miles. coast to coast USA round trip once.
I did not even know it has regenerative braking.
I pay no attention to the dial for how it is working left of instrument cluster.
Many recalls yet I ignore most. Ford came to my home last week and did three software updates.
Two issues I've had. 1. Low speed, under 10mph grabbing brakes, yet only sometimes.
    2. Going downhill on a freeway for many winding miles the engine raced like it's in a lower gear and sometimes changing driving modes helps but not always.
Worst fuel mileage 21.1 (average speed 87mph) Best fuel mileage 50 mpg.(Driving like I had an egg under gas pedal)
Fuel mileage coast to coast 33.3
Fuel mileage when speed limits were 55 and under: 39 mpg (rural area of roads).
I've only taken my vehicle in for the free oil/filter changes. Nothing else so far.
I have two Mavericks, the other is EcoBoost AWD 4KTOW, FX4.
They drive similarly. The AWD vehicle rocks slightly at freeway speeds due to different rear suspension.
They make a good appliance but I'd rather be driving my BRZ any day.

I've just came upon this review & your previous one on the Maverick. I live in the Muskoka area of Ontario. Thanks for posting your experiences with the Maverick. I'm going to be needing a new vehicle soon & am looking at either a RAV4 Hybrid, Kia Sportage Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid & the Maverick Hybrid. I need a fuel efficient vehicle to travel 160 kms daily to & from work & also to tow a utility trailer, small boat & a pop-up trailer. The SUV's have more towing capacity than the Maverick but I am really leaning towards the Maverick. Its 2000lb capacity will be adequate for me. The SUV's would be nice for throwing our 2 dogs in when camping. What would you think of the back seat of the Maverick for traveling with 2 Huskies heading to areas like Temagami? Thanks in advance, Geoff

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  8 месяцев назад +5

With all due respect, I've just not seen that to be a major issue with hybrids that have been on the market for a long period of time. There is a very robust used market for even 20 year old hybrids. It's not the same as EV batteries which can be prohibitively expensive to replace. The much smaller battery in a vehicle like this is very different, and third party battery replacements can be as little as $1000 - not any different than any other significant part in the vehicle. The battery is also warrantied for 8 years/100K miles.

    • @YoureNotThatGuyPal-

Man youre ignorant about batteries. There is only a 1.1KW battery inside. That's about 1000 US dollar replacement. Are you just a dinosaur that hasn't got out of the gas guzzling, oil burning phase of driving. There are a ton of EV or hybrid vehicles that have been problem free. It's time to open a book, read and inform yourself.

Have had a Mercury Mariner (same as Ford Escape) hybrid for 14 yrs. The battery is still fine, and would cost about $3500 to replace. Prius batteries of the same vintage are even cheaper to replace because there have been a lot more of them out there compared to the Escape. The gas motor never gave us a single problem and has more than 107K on it. No complaints whatsoever. At this point the car is worth about $8000 retail. Add in $3500 for a battery, and for under $12K you have a good small SUV with all wheel drive that gets a documented 30 MPG. Don't see any chumps in this neighborhood.
