THANK YOU for calling these things out! As a longtime Ford customer (5 Fords and 1 Lincoln) I cannot stand seeing what they're doing over there. It seems like every day they make yet another decision to push me towards another manufacturer.
The expensive bundling is horrible on the new F150, the customization is worse than ever, the cost for a vehicle is insane, and one of the best features of owning a Ford--the keypad--is being taken away as a factory option. Recalls are out of control, cost-cutting seems apparent everywhere in their latest vehicles, they're taking away physical buttons and making them digital, they've moved some manufacturing to China, and the list goes on and on. So glad we have TFL to call these things out, because I feel like my one little voice isn't gonna change Ford, but maybe a few outlets can make a difference. I'm ready for Jim Farley to hit the road.
Yes Sir 💯. I've had 3 Lincoln Vehicles.
I still have one lincoln and a ford F250 truck. I want to get a New F250 but I might start looking at GMC 😢
The keypad is one item that really leaves me upset. It’s now a dealer “installed” option for $500. Installed my . It’s “installed” with 2 sided tape. Ludicrous. Someone could walk by with a knife, and 5 seconds of time, and remove it. C’mon Ford. What in the world are you doing. And on top of all this, they are going with a subscription model for some big ticket items. When I’m going to be paying $80,000 plus for a vehicle, there should be no way I need to pay a subscription fee on top of that. All the manufacturers are doing it, but that doesn’t make it right. Jim, you need to make Ford batter than that. This is unacceptable.
On the other hand, I have owned many Ford trucks including a recent Lightning purchase and I have never used the keypad. The lightning allows you to open the door with a fob, ford pass app, Apple Watch and phone as a key. I get that some may still want it but I have never found the need, especially with all the new ways to open the door. I won't do anything subscription either. Yes everyone is doing it but eventually one company will be subscription free, and that's where I will go if I want that feature. Ford so far is one of the better ones. They are trying to push Blue cruise subscriptions but they do offer a one time payment for lifetime.
@@darpompie4354I love my keypad. Allows me to lock up my keys, wallet and/or phone when doing recreational activities nearby and still allows me to quickly unlock it when I return. Also allows me to quickly tell a close friend or family my code so they can grab something out if I’m not nearby. I know it’s not for everyone but to axe the feature or charge an obscene amount for an inferior solution is insulting.
I literally use my keypad daily. Unbelievable they have taken it away! Literally one of the best things about Ford is the keypad. Going to the beach? Leave my keys in the truck. Skiing? Leave the keys in the truck. Any activity I might potentially lose my key? Leave it in the truck. How lame.
@@Durataur They haven't taken it away... They made it an option. After they introduced phone as a key, the keypad is redundant to most people. You don't take your phone or your watch to the beach or skiing? I do. Not saying that you do or you should but again, you have the option of adding the keypad. Forcing me to pay for something I don't need is equally upsetting. I wish more things were optional. It's funny how hypocritical people get. The first point TFL went through being WTH for bundling stuff (forcing people to get stuff they don't want) is wrong, but then making the keypad optional so only those that want it pay for it is also wrong.
I use my keypad on my 2019 f150 every single day to lock the truck and I leave my keys inside as well an I unlock the truck with the key pad very upset they are removing the keypad especially since I was planning on getting a 2025 f150 what a shame
Me: I’d like a Torsen front diff on my tremor.
Ford: Gotcha, you want luxury interior and fancy bumper. Only $12k
Yeah that does suck. I wish the torsen and Hi-Lock/Raptor T-case were standalone options or part of a "performance" package or something.
The t-case you can actually add yourself for not too much money. I think guys have done it for ~$1000-1500 and a few tweaks in Forscan to tell the truck it has the hi-lock case. The front diff is a serious pain to upgrade on your own.
@@Jay-me7gw yeah and not even the raptor has the Torsen now.
Glad I got my 2023
Yes exactly it’s completely changed my plans for my next truck
@@MrGlobeking To what? Ford wont change anything unless you dont buy a Ford at all.
The F150 is a bad rock crawler compared to smaller Broncos and Wranglers, so the Torsten diff never got used to its potential due to the rest of the truck hitting it’s limit first (especially break over angle).
I never understood why people turn a half ton truck into a rock crawler, making it much worse at truck things, when there are much better vehicles designed for rock crawling.
Same arguments apply to other extreme conditions where the weight of the truck makes it perform worse than smaller vehicles, and the size makes it more difficult to maneuver into better lines and terrain.
This is what happens when car companies are run by MBAs and finance people rather than engineers and car people
Bean counters suck
@@tmklunk💯💥
I raise my hand to that 🙏
Finance people keep the company running. Doubt engineers and car people are as adept. We’ve seen this play out multiple times. There are enough defunct brands to fill a graveyard. But I’m with you its be nice to see car folks allowed to flourish no matter how temporary that would be.
Engineers and car people are the ones who do the designing and building the product. They don’t know how to effectively run a sustainable business. MBAs & finance people are big reason for profit company continues to exist.
Ford doubling down on stupidity. After owning 4 Fords, I've left them.
What company did u go with??
@@MrAlpinekidWe’re moving to GM for our fleet.
@@iamswright1853Great choice. All our GM vehicles have done excellent and get better mpg's than advertised.
I am now looking for a new truck, and ford, would have been my choice, but I don’t want to pay such high prices. The sad part is GM is trash and WTF toyota 2024. Now I was looking midsize and compact. So now I am looking for overpriced used.
@munocat It might be your best bet. It's really sad that going on with Ford. I was going to get a new F250 but now I'm thinking about just keeping the one I have
Literally what I have been complaining about. The price packaging is annoying and the primary reason I can't get an affordable truck with what I need anymore.
What really gets me is the SAME packages added to XLT and Lariat include MORE for the lariat version and are priced CHEAPER! WTF?
The key pad is a must have. It’s perfect for hiking, hunting, fishing, kayaking. There’s no worry about loosing your key. I can’t believe they got rid of the factory installed key pad.
Exactly! For a while it was nicely integrated in a light up pad in the black B pillar. Now if you get the option it is just a number pad stuck on with 2 sided adhesive🤦🏻
Every other brand has survived without it. It's nice but not that important.
@@jimrussellfriesen6768Its not just stuck to the surface who told you that? part of the column behind it is removed.
Cars are more expensive, BUT.... why aren't warranties longer? Does that mean the manufacturers no longer believe in their product... they charge more, they should provide more... 3 yr warranty should be double since the vehicles cost double...
You are absolutely correct. Instead they give you the same warranty as a zero-turn mower... They really have sold out their market and take customers for granted. And not just Ford, but GM and Ram.
The warranties don’t get longer because people are still buying. The whole reason for warranties is to give the consumer a peace of mind. For example: If an automaker is only offering 3 years of warranty coverage but it still sells well, the automaker has no incentive to increase the warranty coverage period. It’s the negative quality reputation along with poor sales that would force the hands of the automaker to increase its warranty spending.
@DarthNero its starting to catch up with them. Overpriced vehicles, poor interest rates, and bad warranties that require extra costs for "peace of mind" will have long-term consequences if other international manufacturers get into our market.
Great idea...however, it makes too much sense for it to happen in today's zeitgeist of auto buying.
I live 45 minutes from the Rouge plant...still has a destination charge
he is the kicker, the destination charge is included in the MRSP, and the dealer is just ripping you off.
Wow that's just crazy
@@munocatit is included in the MSRP but the destination charge isn’t being double charged to you, they either list the price before destination fee and list destination fee separate or list both as MSRP
No way !
Bought a bronco across the street from the Wayne plant. Had destination fee
As a Ford and Lincoln owner, getting rid of the keyless entry keypad is a huge disappointment. While I know it's available as a dealer installed option, on my Lincoln Nautilus it's integrated into the b pillar and backlit, it's not merely the one stuck to the door above the door handle. It's also capacitive buttons and you don't know it's there until you go to use it and it appears as it lights up. It's part of the design. On my older Navigator, it's right above the door handle integrated into the chrome window trim/belt molding. Will be interesting to see what the take amount is now that it's dealer installed. I use mine all the time. I often leave the key fob in the console and use the keypad to get back into the car when I go places like the beach, on a hike, etc so I don't have to worry about losing the keys.
It's a lie that they are offering it as a dealer-installed option. What is being offered as a dealer installed option is a POS door opener, akin to a garage door opener. It is not integrated into the vehicle and it looks like crap. Securicode has been around for more than 40 years. Shame on you Ford. This is terrible.
@@kericks1991I couldn't agree more 💯💥
I was on the superduty configurator yesterday and the first thing I clicked was the cool bronze paint. That'll be $19,000 more my good sir. I just laughed out loud.
Those destination charges are definitely just for the dealer. I am a car hauler and we do not get paid that much money for destination delivery. I can guarantee you that much.
The dealer installed keyless entry pad requires its own battery. There’s no telling how long it will last.
I had one back in 2004 and it went 4 years before the backlights shut off and 4 more before ot quit unlocking the door. The transmission will have packed it in at least twice before this keypad dies. Batteries are easy to change at least
I live about 2 hours away from the Louisville plant that builds the Super Duty and I get charged $1995 for the delivery charge just like someone living in Alaska does.
Same as when you order something online, most retailers will use flat rate shipping.
Yeah, but if you don't like the shipping charge you can buy elsewhere. Good luck doing that with destination charges that have gotten way out of hand. @@boostav
The only way to avoid destination is actually going to the factory, i think BMW still allows factory delivery...
@@ljmorris6496I can attest that at least VW, Ford, and Honda don’t let you do that (have tried that when buying each 😂)
So don’t buy
The keypad on my 17 super duty is by far my most used convenience option. I use it daily.
Ford no longer puts the ecoboost badge on the new trucks, just an FYI. Only Powerboost.
I can remember my grandpa ordering an f150 in 1999 with the roll up windows rubber floor etc bare bones and they did it and it was cheap he still has it
That’s all I want
Guess what?. They still make one. Although you'll get infotainment, power windows/locks and turbo 2.7 standard. Rubber floors, steel wheels XL version is out there below $40k..
Ford has to raise prices to cover battery power car manufacturing costs and cover their many recalls.
Yep!
You guys missed a big one! Ford now makes the 6.8 and 7.3 standard with the 10R100 transmission! No more 10R140. More money, less capability. Thanks Ford
GOD IM SO GLAD YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT THIS!
I was looking at the same thing, 7.3 v8 in the f250 and for some reason I HAD to add the STX package in the XL trim.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets irritated at this stupid up selling garbage.
Low revving, large displacement engines will generate less heat and pressure than their small displacement counterparts. All things being equal, they will generally last longer and cost less to maintain than a smaller forced induction engine with similar power and torque numbers.
All big rigs and hd pickup owners be getting it wrong for years with their turbos, right?...
@@ljmorris6496 turbo diesels are vastly different than turbo gasoline engines. Surely you can parse the difference between the two - if you’re an adult, that is.
The 5.0 is NOT low revving compared to either the 2.7 or 3.5 EB. The TQ and HP numbers are generated at higher RPM, vs the boosted engines.
Not a chance my 5.0 gets decent milage... Over all average of 12 years and 151k... 15.2mpg.. bone stock. Dodge-land numbers..
My '18 5.0 averaged 18mpg with stock set up. My '21 2.7 gets 23mpg combined with the same drivetrain and packages. The ecoboost is noticeably better on fuel mileage. The only real advantage I lost (I tow less than 4k lbs) was the engine sound.
Pretty sure the dealer ad on for keypad is NOT wired but battery powered and wifi controlled? The boring colors just flat out stink. Were are the bright red and bright blues and even yellow.
Reminds me of boring Mercedes colors.
Yep, not wired. But that's a plus. Now you can put it wherever you want, like in the gas door.
Ford was the one that convinced me that for me (and most of people), a full size truck is not only not necessary but in fact a stupidity.
I special ordered a F150 back in 2017 and the 10 spd transmission pissed me so much that I finally figure out that if you need to carry something that needs a truck bed you are better off just renting a UHaul...
So you can have a less expensive car or a real luxury car (which will never be a truck) or a real comfortable vehicle, etc and still be able to carry your stuff using a Uhaul.
If you don't work with or tow a camper, you don't need a truck.
That is what Ford is doing: Killing its bread and butter market
Spot on. Especially since "most" people that buy a truck almost never use it as a truck to do truck things. They make it more of a status symbol than the tool it should be.
And the 2022 Ford 10 speeds were still junk.
@@johnk6206speak for yourself. That's the best thing going for it, especially when towing heavily...
@@stephenjn59 "Status symbol"... more like: "Hey, I overpaid for a big aluminum box full of plastic and fake leather inside just because I have no clue what luxury really is...." hahaha
After owning an f150 with the 10 speed my experience has been so terrible I will not own another ford again and my next vehicle will certainly not be a pickup. You are 100% spot on
Thank you TFL for covering the insane XL Super Duty price increase for opting for a 7.3L. Going from a $1k option to a hidden $10k option by forcing unwanted appearence packages and tech has me highly disapointed with Ford and considering a Chevrolet Alaskan. Even with a ton of options it comes out less than a base XL 7.3L.
Ford CEO said they were reducing the number of configured variations to reduce costs and complexity.
Unfortunately any savings by Ford have not been passed on to the customer.
And I see cost cutting in other areas like cheap seat and interior materials, no standard rear wheelwell liners, excessive use of plastic under the hood, etc.
And MSRP keeps rising. Very discouraging.
what's really funny with that first part, is one dealer I used to watch on here was talking about it, and kept parading that they're gonna be cutting costs to make it cheaper.
Yeah, cheaper for them, not for us.
@@Scout819 yep guy on town and country ford said that.
There was a supplier issue with the keypad. However, as a salesperson for 19 years, most customers do not use the keypad (They decline me setting a personal code for them at delivery). Those that do use it though tend to use it a lot.
Use mine all the time and have been for 16 years
Loved mine.
That’s because we’re returning customers and know how to set the code. …and don’t want you to know the code.
Then most customers are missing out
They already did this with the 24 F-150. It's a weaker truck than the 23 model, and they got rid of the 2.7 payload package, even though it's a better towing motor than the 5.0l. Someone got hired for a position they have no business being in over there. There are virtually no additional costs for switching equipment around that is already on the platform, as far as paint, suspension, and chassis. This is likely a combo of packaging being manipulated for highest profit margin, in the guise of "simplifying manufacturing" for quality reasons. As far as the factory workers are concerned there is virtually no difference on what trim level is what. The fastening points are all virtually the same, the only major differences come with 4wd, engine type, and rear end.
When you go online and build a new ford vehicle it's mental gymnastics just to HALFWAY figure it out. It's wayyyyy too complicated. It has always kinda been unnecessarily complicated but In the last few years it has gotten astronomically worse. I question the judgement of the people running this company.
Literally is an opportunity for an auto manufacturer to corner the market with a low priced nicely equipped Truck and SUV, but will it happen.
Other things they have done which make no sense:
You cannot get a 2wd XLT
The addition of carpet to a XL F250 will cost you 5,127.00 (STX appearance pack), and adds 4wd.
You cannot spec a 2wd F350 crew cab dually with a gas engine- you have to get the diesel.
The trailer brake controller (on XL) is another 300.00 on top of the 5th wheel prep (550.00)
There is no such thing as a gas crew cab dually.
I was trying to configure a gas F350 2WD (6.8/10spd/ 4.30) crew cab short box, and was shocked by the amount of "options bloat" that they have gone with.
As it stands now, to "doll up" the interior of a work truck (would be my only vehicle, so trying to make it livable) with such "extravagances" such as CARPET or a power seat requires ordering a truck that is MUCH more expensive, and I don't want a bro-dozer.
I don't want or need a 4x4. I just wanted a daily that could drag my (or my friends/ brothers') bad decisions home without hurting it.
You missed one: SuperDuty 4x4, dummy hub lock passenger side, effectively leaving the passenger side hub locked. For the price + destination I want to be able to unlock both front hubs.
They’re transporting the damned thing on the back of a truck, not an ambulance.
I've owned Several Ford's "probably between 10 to 15" & I don't like where they are or where they're headed. But what other choice is out there that's any better?? It most certainly isn't Chevy, or Toyota,& I wouldn't even consider Ram now that Stellantis is involved.
It's just very disappointing where all car companies are going, big money for little quality.
Most dealers in the Nothern VA area add another Freight charge that equals to the manufacture's destination charge! Lets be honest, its a dealer markup.
Thank you for keeping reviews real! I certainly hope Ford doesn’t blacklist you for this video the way Subaru blacklisted y’all! Thank you for keeping your audience informed! TFL is the best.
Remember way back when a Maverick was a car with a price starting at $1995? Just shows how things have changed, not necessarily for the better.
With respect that’s a hyperbole because if you covert that 1995 to today’s money it’s not 1995. Like you gotta adjust your numbers or you’re just living in a nostalgic fever day dream 😅
@@LafemmebearMusicHow about just sticking to the fact they raised the price of the Maverick almost 6k for basically the same car/truck in only 4 and a half years.
Dude, the last time I made a comment like that, my arse got roasted in these comments!! The younger gen has no idea how simple things could be, and were, not that long ago. Ignorance IS bliss apparently.
@@LafemmebearMusicAnd LOVING it!!
If you want a simple vehicle, just buy an old used one and keep throwing money at it to keep it going. If you want a cheap vehicle, get yourself a sugar daddy that made out big from Covid (a large part of the country shifted to the top income bracket) to buy it for you.
The reality is a lot of people made a lot of money and don’t mind spending it, and that’s the new target demographic for vehicles.
I have noticed this trend at Ford and I’m very glad you have chosen to raise these points, Thank You
I use the keypad entry all the time. I cant live without it. Will not buy a Ford without one.
Ford knows that people will still buy the products. Customers like to complain but still buy
I not so sure about that anymore. I was going to buy a new F250 but not now I'll just keep what I got
Bingo!
My entire family has moved away from Ford after lifelong customer(s). Taurus>Camry, Fusion>Mazda6, Focus>Mazda CX-5, Expedition>Mazda CX-5. Our F-150 is next to be replaced by a non-Ford model. Maybe there's enough customers now so they don't care, but this is going to catch up to them at some point.
Right. Never underestimate the amount of brand loyalists out there committed to feeding their preferred automaker every dollar they can regardless of how outrageous the prices get or the overall additional costs that comes with ownership.
Not
Happy I bought my 2022 402A Tremor, when I did. Will be paid off in 12 months and I will keep this thing until the wheels fall off. Best truck I have ever owned.
What always got me is the heated seats in the XLT. Sure, it's not a necessity, but I hate how it's locked behind a nearly $5K package, and the cheapest you can get it is is $55K. And that's if you get the base engine, 2WD, etc. Like I said, it's not a *necessity*, but nowadays that's a pretty standard feature on cars that aren't absolute base models.
I’m very fortunate to have needed a new truck right before Covid. Got a new F-150 Raptor short cab with cloth seats (800a) for $48k. So many friends and family got soaked on buying trucks and suv since then…
Just did a build on Ford's site, an F-350 XLT single cab. ...with options: 62 000 Dollars.
I believe destination fees also covers the cost of sub assemblies and parts that arrive to the final assembly plants from the part suppliers. I’m not justifying the extra cost but just shedding light on the manufacturers drive to cover costs.
Hey hey Oxford White is the GOAT color. Although I would really love an Eruption Green truck.
Eruption green is the color of Ford’s profit charts
Destination charges going up for EVs makes sense, because they’re generally heavier of course, but mostly because the tax credit price caps don’t include destination, so that’s a way to get a vehicle under the cap but still make the profit.
Agreed. Destination fees just need to be rolled into the price. The bad part is if they did it now, they'd get beat up for raising the price $2k with no change. Sure, they can plaster $0 destination, but they'll still get beat up in the competition's ads. Still, somebody needs to start and the rest will follow suit.
This is all about decreasing manufacturing costs. By streamlining option packages they decrease the number of variations they have to produce. This is why some manufacturers like Honda, Toyota, Hyundai and Kia offer only dealer installed options. To get more features, you just move up to the next trim level. This means when the factory builds a certain trim level, the only production variation is exterior color. @7:00... Another Maverick issue... Production delay and price. My friend ordered a Maverick Hybrid TWO YEARS ago. The truck just arrived at the dealer and they want $4k more than the price they agreed on because Ford jacked up the MSRP. @12:00... I think destination charges are legitimate charges, however they're no longer charging what it actually costs to transport the vehicle. Most used to be well under $1k. I transport from Co-part auctions all over the country to Vegas. I never pay $2k and that's for a single vehicle. Ford transports 8 to 10 vehicles on a single truck to a single destination. I bet the actual cost to transport a Maverick is about $600. The other $1400 is just added profit that they can collect without raising the price of the vehicle. It's BS and it would be nice if Congress passed a bill requiring the destination charge reflect the actual transit cost. It'll never happen though. Too much lobbyist money flowing. BTW, I'm a Ford guy. Fords I've owned... '08 Mustang GT/CS, '03 Mach 1, '14 F150, '18 F150, '17 Fusion Sport, and currently a '16 Fiesta ST.
I just bought a '24 Lariat 501 package over waiting for a '25 as it included the door touch pad and actual leather seats, as the '25 doesn't include.
Maybe Ford not having options for skid plates, big tires and lifts is their way to tell buyers that AWD vehicles don't belong on trails meant for 4x4's? Personally what I'd call a "logging road" is about as far as I'd push an AWD vehicle without expecting to damage it or exceed it's capabilities.
I know with GM you could previously get a high stance package on a 2 wheel drive only model which was great for construction sites. Ford should offer the same on both 2 and AWD models for similar purposes. Rural customers would also appreciate it for the dirt roads without needing to pay for the full 4WD kit.
2024 F350 King Ranch here. The keypads a game changer!
Whoever’s in charge over there needs to do something about reliability
Unless I’m missing a setting, my 2023 F-350 will NOT let me lock my keys in the truck, whether with door code or with lock button. Dealer lots are full of inventory , when is the price gouging going to end?
Are you guys confusing the “Powerboost” hybrid with the “EcoBoost” turbo or did Ford change the labeling?
Along with calling out Ford for getting it wrong, compare with the companies getting it right.
Unfortunately the capitalization cost to “go green” with required manufacturing of electric vehicles and the continued lack of sales is financially wrecking the auto industry as a whole. I am a Ford F150 owner and share many of Andre’s feelings but we can also thank our Politicians for their CAFE standards for the HUGE price increases and constant cutting back features/services.
The only way to match the fuel economy numbers that are published is to inflate those tires to max pressures. 2019 3.5 EB long bed. Door sticker says 36 lbs on LT tires. Went to 45 to tow and fuel mileage (without towing jump by 3 mpg.
Destination fee is just part of the "I am an idiot" package that US retail/service has become. Shown prices (on a sticker, menu, site, whatever) don't mean shit anymore. You get a 5usd coffee and may end up with 12 usd out of pocket out of fees, tips, taxes, and so on... Except for taxes, everything else should be included on the prices shown/advertised (including "usual" tips).
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep calling out all manufacturers. I will consistently watch you guys if you do long segments calling out all the BS manufacturers are doing. The only way the manufacturers change if we, the consumers, stop buying them, and this helps spread awareness.
Yes, my math be incorrect, but if a half-million Ford Products (not sure if TFL meant Ford Trucks only) are sold, then: 500,000 Products x $1995.00 = $997,500,000.00. That destination, imho, is here to stay.
The color limitations has a lot to do with the plastic exterior components on modern vehicles. Those come pre painted from the supplier so every color increases the part count of a vehicle exponentially, and adds to assembly and logistics costs.
Haven't you had to get the STX package for a while if you wanted the 7.3 in an XL? The XL came standard with the 7.3 when the engine first came out because Ford wasn't making 6.8s due to the supply chain bs.. At least that's my recollection.
A BIG Ford fan here, but Land Rover charges "only" $1625 for a Defender 130, and they're not exactly a small vehicle either, or a Range Rover SV that starts at $209,000 !!
With all the high prices, people should go for lower trims, for example, a fully loaded F150 Lariat costs less than the Platinum and you have basically all the same, with a different interior theme and the V8..
I think we can all argee Roman.... that All cost, not matter what, are based on ' SCREWING THY CONSUMER ' For maximum Profit... lets not sugar coat it.
Loved this session. You guys explained it well
I negotiate a price. Get an itemized breakdown before signing, and i ALWAYS get destination charges and dealer prep taken off. I refuse to pay for a dealership overhead. Oh and that person in some office gets paid by the hour to do paperwork. So it doesn't matter they're doing they are getting paid. I will split the cost of that.
You guys have it backwards…. The 5.0 will rev higher, NOT lower than the EB engines. Especially when pulling a heavy load.
Current owner of a 2015 F-150 Platinum with the 5.0. Ford really dropped the ball on no longer offering the 5.0 on the new Platinums. You now have to drop down to a Lariat (or move up to a Raptor R 😂).
Also with the bad offset crash test, did the ‘21-‘23 also have this issue, as the ‘24 changes were mostly cosmetic?
I can tell you one thing for sure, Quality Control at Ford is crap. I ordered a truck, not one body panel was inline, got that one lemon lawed, and when ordered a 24, it just got here and it's bed and tailgate are out of alignment. I didn't take delivery. On to another brand.
Want a pine tree air fresher hanging on the rearview mirror? That's now part of the $5000 Ford "Nature's Conifer Aroma" package 😮
They have also said goodbye to the medium and small car market, the reason they say is the pickup market is growing, and profitable where they can sell them for big money, why bother?
I don't need a pickup, retired living in Europe I guess I have to look elsewhere when I don't want to, being a big fan of the brand😮💨
Regarding the hybrid and AWD, it may be an issue with battery placement. I know most hybrid and electric cars have a second motor to power the extra wheels, presumably to avoid having to run the crankshaft through the battery pack? It seems that would be different with a truck that was front engine/rear drive to begin with, but maybe there’s just not enough room.
Did you know that you cannot take an all wheel drive vehicle off-road in national parks and in a lot of state parks you can take them off road because they are not true four-wheel drives
Combo packages are a way to increase revenue without increasing unit volume. Retail salespeople refer to this as adding to the ticket.
I’ve been holding out and keeping my 2012 hoping they will get their head out of their ass but they keep getting worse!! Making dumb decisions and the prices are ridiculous! No new truck for me…. ESPECIALLY FORD!
what you are saying is not exactly true. i can get a 2025 f150 w/ a 5.0l engine, & 4x4 and the fx4 package crew cab in either blue or red. comes with dual exaust tips, skid plates, e-lockers, off road tuned front shocks, and monotube rear shocks. BUT I BUILT MINE ON THE STX PLATFORM!! and it cost 57,590. yes this is STILL way to much!! but i get what i want without all the thrills i NEVER cared about.
Wonder if they saw how Ram was operating, and thought, "Yeah, we need to get on that gravy train..." (Convert their brand to lux)
The 6.8 V8 is the little brother of the 7.3 V8 Godzilla ..
405 Horsepower and 445 lb-tq standard engine
Somebody may have said this, but you cannot leave the key in the cab and lock it- it has to be farther away-i lock mine in the bed with a lockable cover- i use it for the boat and bike rides and it's awesome. Maybe it can be programmed otherwise but i have not figured it out on either my '15 or '24 F150s
I leave mine in there all the time and use the keypad to lock it
It’s all games to get buyers to do what the regulators demand they get the consumers to do.
It's not just regulators. I want more efficient and clean transportation. I don't want huge diesel trucks blowing coal at me. However, the auto industry has made a mess here. Work trucks are a necessity tool. Green ideas can't shut out small business needs.
@@mikesawyer1336 There are enough companies selling vehicles that it is unlikely collusion causing full size trucks to be the way they are despite the consumers wanting something else. What we get is what the market and regulators want. I actually think the industry has the least amount of agency among the three parties (Manufacturers, Regulators, and Buyers).
So long story short. Price continues to grow out of average persons reach with less standard options. Gotcha.
Ive always negotiated the delivery fee nonsense, after Im done listening to the sales rep, sales manager, finance manager etc, all tell me we can’t take that fee off , blah blah blah .. i tell them ive got a great idea…reduce the price of the truck instead…which they do or I walk.
it's funny seeing the uproar over price gauging practices from manufacturers , but eventually they'll always end up buying anyways lol
Exactly. People want loaded behemoths, complain about the price and still buy them. I go for standard and am happy with that. Low maintenance as well...😊😂
@@Anth230The fear of missing out is a very powerful feeling. People complain about the high cost but the deep thoughts of having a new & fancy vehicle in their driveway does tempt a lot people to pull the trigger despite knowing they are overpaying.
Bundling options reduces SKU mix, which keeps costs lower. Yeah yeah, trucks are too expensive, whatever.
You sometimes see worse economy in the Ecoboosts because they more power and low end torque. If you use it, you lose it. Also, the new 5.0 can see good economy because it can run on 4 cylinders, but as I said, peak power and torque is lower. My coworker was a "5.0 or nothing" guy until he rode in my 3.5TT. He liked the power and smoothness so much, he immediately sold his 5.0 XLT and got a 3.5TT Tremor. YMMV.
The keypad also isn’t the same as they’ve always been when dealer installed. It’s a stick on keypad. It’s not installed in the door
I imagine Ford (along with other US/European/Japanese manufacturers) are starting to panic about the fact that Chinese manufacturers are already leaving them behind and need to raise as much money as possible so they can invest in an attempt to keep in touch.
Never once used the keypad in 2 years of ownership. To each his own I guess.
I'm glad I just picked up my custom ordered 2024 F150 as I'm not liking the changes for 25
On top of that insane destination charge, it doesn't matter if your dealer is 10 miles away from the factory or 2000 miles away.
Just an easy money maker for them.
I’m on my first Ford F150. Its a 21. Always drove Toyota and Honda before. So many features removed since then.
One question I have about this is the destination fee. Is the fee the same regardless of where you live? If so, I can see this as a sort of way to distribute and subsidize the cost to get vehicles to dealers far away from the manufacturer which I think is beneficial.
It was 2016 when we bought our last new vehicle, but the dealer was able to order some of the options without the rest of the package. I wonder if this is still a thing 🤔
They need to bring back Blue Jean blue, Kodiak brown, a standard bright red should always be an option along with a cherry red of some shade.
Manufacturers have been doing this for years, when i bought my 2018 Honda CRV i wanted navigation, $1,000 option, to get it i had to get leather, moon roof and a bunch of other crap i didnt want. Total ripoff.
i hate all these truck brands with all these packages and trims. back in the day you had 4/5 trim levels, a couple packages, and a bunch of options.
Yep, I passed on the F150 Tremor because I can’t get the Torsen unless I opt for the $11,000 402a package! On the 2023 it was a $500 stand alone option. 😡🤬😡
I have owned four Fords since 1994 and my goal is to never have to buy another one. Unfortunately, I’m a contractor so I might have one more truck in my future.
