For the 284161, be prepared to have to upgrade/change the steering servo. I bought two of them (from different 2 different vendors) and servos on both seized and became non-functional after using it for about an hour of very light use. The replacent servo I bought has metal internal gears and seems to have lasted more than an hour.
The phone holder, you have to pull it up to a 45° angle. The graphic printed right on it shows this. Anyway, fun addition with the lights. Worth it just for that. So much work to do by hand on these little things.
Cool review, And nice little M Coupe in the driveway, that car is a rocket ship, arguably the most underrated BMW, and some of the best thing they built.
Just snaked one on Temu for $25. Love my K989 just wanted something with lights and more clearance. Highly recommend putting any cheap fpv camera on it.

I think I may pick one of these up and try my hand at making a vw baja bug out of it. There are at least half a dozen different 1/24 plastic vw beetle models out there (plus the TBG 1/24 lexan beetle body), so I should have what I need. I've done the chassis/body analysis and I think the Revell or Tamiya beetle model bodies should work OK. The big question is whether or not I can get the wheels to look appropriate for the build. That wheelie bar would come off immediately. It's so useless!

What? The Mini Z buggy is FAR more expensive than this WLToys. I have both and The WLToys is pretty damn good. The only reason the Mini Z buggy sells at such a high price is because of the Kyosho name. If it was ANY other name, the WLTOYS would out sell it.

Not really, we knew what it was and its part of why we bought it.. we wanted another anyway, so might as well get it. How is getting a 989 and swapping wheels/tires/body "better"? it would be the same lol (and the more $)

Those Mini Z Buggy arms and shocks would make a cool swap to give the Wltoys a little more suspension travel

Wow that's a really good deal. When I bought mine I looked on temu but didn't see anything under $50 so I ended up buying one on AE for $45 shipped.

Will the batteries work with brushless?
Yes. The motor doesn’t matter. Batteries are batteries and they work with brushed or brushless.
Can you charge batteries separate from the car?
yeah, they are regular lipo. We actually use them in our SCX24s and other mini crawlers sometimes.
