I got a letter once from the council once threatening me with a charge for removing the rubbish in the entry between the houses. I was away working abroad but it turned out that the rubbish was dumped by the next door but one neighbour and the students who lived next door. That was enough for me and I sold up. I feel for the good people but this is what happens when you bleed an area dry and constantly allow the small things to get out of hand. Labour treated Stoke as for granted and now the vile Gullis is coining it as a fascist mp. None of this gives me any pleasure to say but it's true.

You can tell a lot about an area by the number of cars needlessly parked on the pavement when there's lots of road space and other ways in which pedestrian access is blocked. Not a people first place.
I lived in S-o-T (Bentilee) and it was a dump back then, I complained to the council MANY times about rubbish dumping - they did nothing .... I have always called the place "A Dump" because everywhere you look there is rubbish just dumped on the streets. I never saw a street cleaner in the five years I was there. I moved across country to County Durham and in my second week saw a litter picker walking along clearing up ... Some councils have different priorities ... 😒😒
I don't really understand. It would take a couple of weekends of local residents volunteering to clean that up. It seems such a trivial problem. I presume there is no motivation any more because they know it's their own neighbours causing the mess. How do most people learn to have self-respect and pride, but it misses others entirely and their actions can cause a whole block of streets to feel abandoned and intimidating. The houses look solid, the little park looked pleasant, there is no fundamental reason it can't be a pleasant area. Just a handful of anti-social residents who cannot or will not be held accountable.
I think the main problem is many have just given up it’s a recurring thing with rubbish and man hole covers been pinched and lots of dust heads in the area have made most of the good folks in that area stay behind there front door for their own safety it’s very sad what few have ruined it for the majority
aye, no pride in the area because they have no ownership - I used to live at 85 Denbigh St, one day saw an old lady take her dog to a side street for a sh#t, then walked it back to her house. Old folk behaving in such a way sets a great example for others. Poverty.
I used to work at the chemical company opposite, I’ve seen everything from employees getting bit by stray dogs, to thugs causing damage to property, the council need to get rid of the residents who don’t give a dam, that should have been done before the scheme started, but where can they put them, this is why councillors get paid to make them decisions, unfortunately they’ve let every resident down, good or bad.

I don't know about leveling up, it looks like leveling to the ground would be more appropriate. The local MP says it's the fault of the local scrotes and scumbags.
It'll only get worse - the council leaders are obsessed with grand property speculation. I get the ' build it and they will come' idea but they'll run out of money long before that happens. They also direct huge sums into the poorly rated children's services. This is the council's very own mini NHS - no matter how much money is allocated it always wants more.
