  • Back in 2017 The Honda Civic Type R took the automotive world by storm with its sharp handling and agressive styling. With a 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder from factory the Civic Type R was all the rage for the JDM and Honda community. Even though the car was front wheel drive it didn't deter it from being an amazing racing platform. However that was back in 2017... in 2022 the automotive space is much different. With competitors on the horizon is the 2023 Honda Civic Type R better enough than its rivals? For this review - let's go for a drive and find out!

This is specifically the dealer networks and the consumers overpaying at fault. I love the new look of the Type R. It looks like a car again, not a Hotwheels toy! 🥳
My favorite is still the 8th gen design, that was when I fell in love with the Civic. 9th gen was also cool, especially the interior was a big upgrade, 10th gen was just way over the top though.
Glad to see they've once again struck just the right balance between normal sedan and track car design for what it is and how it (probably) performs!
And I think the spoiler does fit it quite well. I like how its shape follows the boot line and I don't mind that it looks "aftermarket"/"like an afterthought" at all. What do you expect, it's an economy sedan with track car upgrades and I commend them for not being afraid to show that. It makes so much more sense than the last model, where they seemingly designed the Type R first and then stripped the most aggressive design elements away for the base model. The result of that philosophy was one normal commuter car cosplaying as road racer and a Type R that felt awkward and desperate to look faster than it is.

The lack of a real, good exhaust sound really hurts it, cause thats a bit of marketing they’re missing out on badly; no kind of emotion out of that exhaust through video. Initially the FK2 was only going to have a small increase in power over the FN2 which is what they had always given their customers, a small increase each time. But the competition had moved on so they had to increase the power from their announced power output. My guess is that this car is riding on the coat tails of the last one. So no it's not worth it.
