I like how the styling is more subtle compared to the last. A little less boy racer
I actually like this more than the previous gen. Mark ups gonna ruin it though.
Too big and too much fight for traction for my liking. Just not a fan of front-wheel drive cars. I'll keep my GR Yaris for the moment.
It’s enjoyable seeing these reviews on roads/tracks local to me that I’ve driven.
I liked the last gens design....just that issue with manual and some heating issues had me worried about longevity
Savagegeese’s video had them running the car full around Pomona all day with no issues, so you’re probably fine
these ran at suzuka were seeing temps of 117C and off the chart oil temps , it was 150C oil temp after that it went ---
Everyone reports that the seats are great. Yet, I will applaud the manufacturer who offers its seats in different sizes. I am 6'4"" tall, about your size.
i own an fk8 and im hit or miss about the styling, but i think its hilarious how people call it a "boy racer" etc car, when it's them that's looking at it from a vanity standpoint and not a driving standpoint... you know, where you enjoy a car for the drive and not only the looks, but eh thats the internet and human race for you
Just drive what you enjoy and leave the car enthusiast crowd, some (a lot) are a narcissistic, image conscious bunch.
watched almost every review on this car and your review is by far the best, worth the wait and the fucked up embargo definitely did not stop me from immediately clicking on your review the second I saw it, great job!!!!
Same, I always wait for their review. They’re the only actual true auto enthusiasts imo.
Check out Throttle House review then 😏
the bass is really heavy on audio mixings; hard to listen to this with over the ear headphones
This is a well rounded review and he is a pro driver. That’s how you drive a stick. I love it.
definitely getting a test drive now off the back of that 👍
Dynamic duo back at it again!
The last Gen Type R is quicker from a Roll.
Put cup 2s on a fk8 on 19 inch rims and let's see those track time comparisons then...
@X XL how can TH produce a bad review. Didn’t know that was possible.
@X XL The fk8 they used is a Honda press car and never modified.
Best content always!
It misses a manual handbrake.
Lots of cars do
@@vvevvevvvv True! But this is a FWD hot hatch it needs it. It makes a huge difference when you need to make corrections and also to do handbrake turns.
I really do, that damned button has caused my car to roll away (without damage fortunately)
@@Ammoniummetavanadate That happens a lot.
I know, that's the one thing that really irks me about this car, they make a big thing about the driving experience and then put a toggle switch for a handbrake
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The best driving experience reviewer. Thank you.
Great review. An improvement from last car that had its share of issues. These dealership markups are absolutely criminal and need to be stopped. For literally $65k you have so many other better options. People also need to stop falling victims to something new must have; have patience people jesus. The cheap fake engine noise is way too common amongst new cars and customers should be given the option to turn it off regardless of what mode you are on. Also honda dealerships are seriously trash experience in general.
This is the worst time to buy a new launch car just like the PS5.
Loved the launch! Just like old times.
Feels like this has out-GTi'd the GTi. More sober looking, not a menace to interact with and again, all the good stuff a Honda brings to the table.
For the first time since the EP3 as far as I'm concerned, a serious Type R!
The GTI starts at $31K. Not even comparable lol.
This is well into golf r money. You could get a loaded golf r pretty easily for less than these go for. If dealers go nuts with the a.d.m then these will be nearing cayman if not used 911 money. I wouldn't be surprised if a few stupid people pay 80k for these when they first come out.
@@tickandslug I could see six figures for those first few cars.
@@tickandslug Good lord no at that point, far less car for the money.
You can make an easy argument against the R though if you have no need for AWD or the treacherous capacitive touch interface and then it is a genuine competitor IMO.
That is, if these ever sold at MSRP which they won't, at least for a good while.
Contradictory in some ways to what I said but I think even FN2 never quite got to that point either, if I recall, which is insane.
Great review and a fantastic car for Honda
What model Dillon glasses is Matt wearing in this video?
Thats truly the new accord hatch type r, fk8 still the true beast
The red interior & carpet are going to show everything…… it’s a shame it’s not offered with a black interior….. It looks nice, but I wish it was a little more compact & smaller.
I’m not crazy about the look of this Typr R Civic. I personally prefer the last model Type R Honda made.
i guess they might not be able to pick up on the details as much as someone who owns an FK8. But the seat cushions are of a softer material. And you cannot turn off traction control fully in individual mode, so that is quite unfortunate. Its sad to see the gasoline engine Type R go out like this.
It's so interesting how fast the VW GTI/R fell out of the running in the last 2 or 3 years. That's how easy an OEM can screw up a car with a bad interior.
At MSRP this is a good buy, anything significantly over is just an impulse buy for someone that has a business plan with one of these (i.e., rent it, youtube it, re-sell it).
The dealer markups for this are absolutely ridiculous. How can dealers continue to get away with this?
As long as punters keep taking out crippling loans to get one they'll keep doing it
I wish I could post a screen shot.
Yesterday a dealer told me they sold theirs $35k over msrp.
And later that same day, another dealer called me asking for $25k over...
As much as I love my 17 R, I will be saying no to this one. I have other cars on my mind even for $50k
$60k+ for it is waaay too much. Also the FACT it's slower (drag race) than the previous model is something I didn't see coming. I'll wait for the next Type R and hopefully it won't look like a smaller Accord.
Next one is hybrid or full electric
Next one's probably going to be larger
They’ve already said this is the last ICE type-r
Have you tried the sports mode?
Lots of photos at Sonoma, but no track time!
Solid review.
very accurate on point review.
All great info but it will be almost impossible to own one. I almost feel that car manufacture's make these cares just for influencers to review them for free to grow their brand. I phoned my local dealership and they said they would be getting 1 car in 2023.
Good point. Probably true, as well.
