  • Walking tour of downtown Seattle in mid June 2022. Begins at around 10:30 AM on a weekday at First Hill and ends in Pioneer Square. Covers Freeway Park, Washington State Convention Center, Westland Center (shopping/commercial district), Pike Place Market and Seattle Waterfront. A glimpse at what downtown Seattle looks like as the city transitions from spring to summer.

    My girlfriend and I went there last March for a week and let me tell you, it looks cleaner now than before. I fell in love with Seattle because of the weather and how easy it is to navigate the city and shoutout to the people that recommended some good place to eat while we’re there! Need to go back there again ASAP!

I'd like to be with you the day you walk the whole city; I'm sure your stories and descriptions of the city would make that walk a time to remember. You show a lot of the same things, but your narration makes it seem new in many ways. Thanks for the wonderful content Mr Ocean. I don't know about all the short stuff you are thinking about; of course I will try to consume all your content, but I like all your long walks/talks. Before all the “hip” foreigners came in from places like LA, this was an important part of Seattle. Unfortunately, Ivar is now unpalatable because he was “unWoke” and “tacky.” I get that Ivar published a lot of unacceptable ethnic humor that was standard for the time. But that shouldn’t be the focus. The guy’s life is really a testament to keeping a sense of humor and ethics in the face of great personal tragedy.
      My way of judging if a person is a true Northwesterner is to tell them to remember to always keep clam and see if they smile a little.

    I'll be moving to the area soon from Florida and I have to admit, I'm finding it difficult to reconcile the vastly different images of Seattle that you get by watching different walking/driving tours of the city. Some videos make it look like some sort of post-apocalyptic wasteland, completely overtaken by homeless camps that are populated with violent drug addicts and criminals. In other videos, like this one, it seems like a really amazing city that I can't wait to walk around and explore with my children. I assume that there are indeed very bad areas that should be avoided but it's hard to grasp the extent of the problem. In some videos, it's said that in order to get to the nice areas, you have no choice but to put yourself in danger by passing through the bad areas.
    Is this true? Are the bad areas just limited to very small sections of the city, or are they widespread? What's your best estimate? Are we talking 5% bad/95% good, a 50/50 split? Would you advise against exploring the city on foot with children (from a public safety standpoint)?

    • @LaoOcean
      @LaoOcean  2 года назад +4

      I wouldn’t know how to give it a percentage but there are just a few hotspots in my opinion. I’m able to access what I need without feeling threatened. Seattle is no NY or LA, but it is a growing cutie showing big city behavior. Just be aware and alert and you’ll be fine. I walk everywhere in my videos. Check them out.

    Should of watch this video prior to going there from CALI, got my car smash at 1st and Seneca and they took my luggage and my bro in law insulin. Someone was kind enough to provide pictures of the thief vehicle but he was long gone.

    I drove through Seattle and the homeless were everywhere along the interstate. I don’t go into Seattle often but people I know who work there tell me a totally different story. The homeless are spreading out all over the state. In Gig Harbor there are a lot of brazen thefts and it’s a lot worse in Seattle.

    Kinda weird to see so few people out and about in those areas… seems like people are abandoning Seattle…

    You need to get together with Nick Johnson. His videos all portray Seattle as a wasteland full of homeless people full of comments from folks saying how they can’t wait to leave Seattle. Lots of his commenters are racist so you have to be prepared for that if you do a joint video with him or go on his.

    I do not recommend traveling to Seattle, it is unsafe and there are a lot of homeless people and drug addicts. I arrived a week ago and it was depressing to see the state it is in.

      Depends on where you go. I went last week to the area near Pike Place and went over to the area near KEXP and it all seemed fine. There have grown to be a lot of areas that are unsafe and depressing but there certainly are enough nice parts to make up for it

      I'm trying to figure out if its really that unsafe around the farmers market, I think 1st and Pike?
      In 2018 it seemed fine during the day but if I gotta walk 5 blocks is that high risk?
