  • Most of the videos on EMP generators are fake or only show the device but do not tell you how to build it. So I decided to make one that really works. Be careful if you build one, you can easily fry your phone or other electronics, and also check your local laws on electromagnetic radiation limits.

    This is a very good video showing how an EMP can damage sensitive electronics. I don't think that most people realize how vulnerable the world is to this. We are all so dependent on electrical devices now. Imagine if the all the computers worldwide got zapped and stopped working. Big trouble.

    • @richardswheatley4330
      @richardswheatley4330 5 лет назад

      What did it damage? The calculator just had bad code in it. That is why the clock reset to 1:00.00. The code was written as such.

    • @blazingfury057
      @blazingfury057 2 года назад

      @@richardswheatley4330 an EMP with stronger output could permantly kill an entire buildings electronics. This one is EXTRMELY weak, however if hr just upped the compositor, added a reflector, and a stronger power supply this could easily permantly destroy basic batteries, and likely even modern smartphones. With a design that for most people watching, they likely have the supplies for already, and adding the little bit more (that could likely take the range from a couple centimeters to several inches, along with over tripling the power output) I suggested only would be a few extra dollars, but it would 100% fry everything shown in this video and kill the batteries. EMP's are a genuine worry, however for the average person it doesn't really matter

    I was taught that an emp would only affect devices that were connected or had closed circuits or that were running at the time of the blast. have you tested this or can you? Would it have fried your calculater (ignoring the solar feature) if the battery were not installed (ignoring the solar feature)?

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  8 лет назад

      +Clifford Smith The emp induces currents in the internal circuitry. This in independent of the device being on or off.

    • @inthefight
      @inthefight 8 лет назад

      Yea, but if it is an open circuit then i current would affect anything. i thought there was more to more question.

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  8 лет назад

      +Clifford Smith No. The emp induces currents even inside the integrated circuits or chips. Not only on the main circuit.

    • @inthefight
      @inthefight 8 лет назад

      ok, if i could ask just one more question. i understand the whole IC thing. Many of the circuits in the IC will remain in the closed position even when off or unplugged. the induced currents will harm or destroy them sure. But what about a simple circuit. one with out micro chips or integrated circuits. Like a power saw or power generator. no IC. The way i understand it one that is running at the time of the pulse will be destroyed, but one that was not running or plugged in will be safe. Same as the old cars. 1960 model cars with no computers are thought to be safe from and EMP. But if they were running at the time of the pulse they would be damaged. Have you or could you test some like that. Say a flashlight. no batteries it should survive the blast. turned on and shining it should be destroyed. But batteries in but not turned on will it survive?

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  8 лет назад

      +Clifford Smith My emp generator is too small to test even a flashlight. There are no delicate and sensitive circuits in a flashlight or a power saw. You will need a huge emp to make that test.

    what happens if you have a chip implant in your body do you think that generator will kill it? Do you think that generator will be harmful like an electric shock to the body?

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  8 лет назад

      It depends on the particular chip and the power of the generator. Better don't try !

    Is this real or fake
    What is the amperage of this emp jammer
    Will it destroy large electronics?
    What is the voltage of this emp jammer
    Dose this actually work or is it fake?

    What is the spark gap for?

    • @1992jamo
      @1992jamo 8 лет назад +1

      When you pass a current through a coil, it produces a spike of EMF; however it's just one pulse. After the the potential difference (voltage) is the same on the anode and cathode of the coil the pulse has ended. However if you break the circuit it will produce another pulse of EMF.
      Basically, the voltage between both terminals of the coil rises while the capacitor charges producing a single EMP and once the voltage is high enough it can spark across the gap discharging the capacitor and produces another pulse. At this point the cycle continues as the capacitor starts to charge again.
      TDLR: The spark gap changes the circuit from one pulse to lots.

      +Rohan Zener I wish! I'm not sure you'll ever find a 10kv, let alone one which won't get nuked by the emf. I wonder how quiet gas discharge tubes are...

    yeah cool...but what for is the capacitor? it works perfectly without it. I know a little bit about capacitors and what they for but wouldn't it be better without the capacitor?

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  9 лет назад +1

      ***** Mine will not work without the capacitor. It is part of a resonant tank together with the coil.

    • @Allanudal16
      @Allanudal16 9 лет назад

      Maybe it works because I used a step up module 400kv and not the flyback...it is very strong with that step up module.. It just made my Casio calculator from the first attempt for like 2 seconds dead.. Anyway.. you made cool stuff over there.. Also the step up module could be found on ebay or banggood.com and it costs about 3$..to those who are interested.. It makes really good sparks from a source of 4-6v.. Perfect for this EMP
