My comment on Rockville. I have 2 Rockville Amplifiers, I had them 5 years. They sound good, and I haven't had any problems with them. I have had Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony US Acoustics, Coustic by MTX. All those Amplifiers I have had sound good.
Wow... Flashback. I had 2 of the sparkomatic 8" bass cannons when I was 16. My neighbor helped me build a box for them. That made them sound a lot better.
Back in the day I got one of those Bazooka Bass tubes and took out their crap 10 inch woofer and put in a Polk Audio woofer and folks thought I was running two 12" subs. I even won a car audio contest for my power class as I went with all Polk Audio speakers and had Rockford Fosgate Punch 200 4 ch and a AutoTeck 300 amp driving the sub. I won on the clarity of the sound quality as those 2 or 3 inch dome titanium tweeters practically made the system as they sounded so life like. Plus I had a Zapco preboard along with some other goodies. In fact I still have that Bazooka bass tube today now added to my home audio system.
Ive got a realistic bass cannon I stuck a cerwin vega 10 in and hooked to a Punch 250 and a 400 watt kenwood 5 channel flip face with infinity kappa highs sounds pretty good and totally looks like its been in my 88 mustang convertible since the early 90's
Btw folks, help Big D out and watch the entire ads before and during the episodes. Ad watches help. Not sure on the ads afterwards though. Not even sure if the content creators know.
Rockville wouldn't be that bad if they'd just rate their equipment honestly. I've been running rockville Marine speakers and they are great for my application. Definitely get what you pay for as far as their amps and subs.
Had the rockville rvb10.1a powered 10" in a 15" square box...$110 wasnt too bad for adding extra bass to a factory system...of course i wanted another...then got a sundown sd4 12" from sundowns surprise me for 149$...then got another...then said ok one X series v2 15"...loved it,added a taramps smart3...then xs power under hood...ok 1 more 15,another smart3 and a custom 8.5cube box from next level fabrications,an iraggi 320 alternator, and two more agm 100ah each batteries behind the seat....perfect....rockville you are a gateway drug!! Lol....thanks for the video Williston Audio!!
I had 2 Bazooka bass tubes, and 1 Collins super bass tube, in the past. I like the Collins super bass tube the best. The Rockville bass tube remind me of the Collins tube, by the way the vent looks on the rear.
The only reason for a tube with its mandatory mounting hardware is it allows for cheap thin wood construction, I had an skar ix10 kicking around so I build a box out of .75 mdf and give the combo to a friend. I give skars recommendations a try and built it to the recommended volume tuning and port dimensions. I built it small and long like 11 wide and 14ish tall so the port could exit right below the driver. It was kinda shaped like a tube enclosure but square. He hooked it an audio control 5 channel amp he got for a super deal and he instantly loved it. I tried it in my van before I delivered it and I was also impressed by its performance especially for 200w sub and compared to the performance it had q logic truck box I had it in when it was in my pickup. I will say skar was spot on with there recommendations, I never use those ever and well I don't have those when I build big subs.
I had 4 10 inch SAS Bazzoka tubes on 2 punch 150s in a Tahoe and got to be honest. It was Crucial!! Of course this was in 91 !!!! Dam im getting old lol
I don't remember the brand but my first bass experience was a 8 bass tube! Came with a huge bass knob too! Ended up smoking the sub. Took out the circuit board amp and used it to power 1 12 for a while till I added a real amp or something...ahh good times.
Always been a fan of tubes. Used many different bazzoka ones both oasice and self amplified over the years. i had a realistic tube i got for free since the amp was burnt out. Found a 40 dollar urban audio amp to deive it and it worked reasonably well
i have the 12 and put it on breakaway plug(3 pin boat motor connector) slips in and out of my hybrid easy to make more space. maybe doesnt hit spec but does shake the mirrors well enough. great vid as always.
If someone has that Rockville bass tube, and you don't like the way it sounds. Take the amplifier out, replace it with a black plexiglass panel, add terminals to it. Replace the subwoofer with a more powerful one, and hook it up to a separate amplifier with more power.
I have the 6.5 model. Had it for almost a year. Sounds good. Just a little extra bass for my truck. I have 6×9 Fosgate Power 4 way in my front doors and 6.5 punch 3 way in the back door being pushed by a tiny timpano tpt 500.4 amp. Hits good. Now i wanna remove the 6.5 sub and replace it with a 6.5 cerwin vega vmaxx and replace the amp with a timpano tpt bass400 2 ohm. Perfect size to cover up the amp hole.
I remember buying a RE Audio SX18 years ago and some random dude from a car audio group who knew how to build enclosures drew me up a subwoofer enclosure spec and needless to say it definitely got low, after I took it out the Durango cause the Durango started having issues I put it in my room I was in which was smaller than my current room and used it in a home theater setup it was jank but it worked!
A lot of Rockville's stereo equipment fall in to that category of not to bad at all specially the dj stuff or pro audio. Prices are great. Kinda the harbor freight of car audio. Only issue I've ever had with them is them strait up lieing on specs and calling everything they sell as certified rated. There targeting beginners in the audio field. But that's not the only audience that buys from them. Tell the truth Rockville, bet your sales increase.
I'm in the middle ground of car audio, too!!! Just a solid install , some noise reduction and a nice deep clean 12 sub. But I'm always experimenting with different setups in my cars. I give away the cheap stuff to the kids in my school!
I got one of these from seismic audio with an amp kit for 60 bucks a year ago. I hooked it up to a small lightning audio amp I've had laying around and bumps just enough to sound good without overdoing it.
My brother bless his heart, went through all the wiring and setup to put the rockville sub/box/amp kit in his 4D wrangler. Much as I scoffed at it, with a decent pioneer HU juicing the stock fronts & rears it wasnt all that bad. He likely wont upgrade, but the path is clear to do so at least.
After seeing this, It would be interesting to see an amp dyno and review of an 8” or 10” powered Bazooka Bass tube. I had a pair of the 6.5” passive Bazooka Bass tubes back in the day. They were ok.
I appreciate you doing stuff like this. I have a Rockville DB15 amp that's rated at 6k watts max, but knew it would not get even close to that. It's hooked up to a 500 watt Magma 12 and sounds great to me.
I had 10" kicker bass station back in 98 in hatchback 92 geo storm gsi and it was stupid good. I replaced it with 2 kicker competition 15" in ISO configuration and never looked back. Both setups were running off the same amp kicker zr360. That amp sounded so good. I killed it when I forgot to put the top back on the power distribution block and it slid over and touched the outside of the amp. DOH! I still the shame to this day.
I just dug out my one of my old Kicker Still Water Series 8" subwoofer tube and connected to a ZR120 I scored for 5 bucks with a channel not working, some clean up with electronic cleaner spray and it's good to go, the old 96 Bronco is bumpin
Thanks for reviewing big D I knew that plate looked familiar! Totally forgot you had tested one before. Glad to see you doing some real-world simulation of this kind of stuff in da Ford! Keep the good stuff comin big D
These little bass tubes have never fit my use case, but... I had a bi-amp (mids/highs and sub) setup in my old crew cab truck, both Rockville. Both amps were great, for years. Still slammed clean and hard til the day I sold the truck. Well worth their humble price and then some. As long as you don't power their subs at the stated limits (especially in free air, I mean really, who does this!?), and do a bit of research on what their amps truly put out for power, you're gonna have a good time. For those of you who are in competetive audio, or simply cannot help spending a lot more money in an attempt to feel better about yourselves, feel free to look elsewhere.
Tubes are inherently very good for a subwoofer. Things don't have to cost a lot to sound pretty good. Mostly listen to death metal. Infinity reference 1032w, (aluminum poly cone) homemade old reinforced speaker box with pillow stuffing sealed. Dvc wired to 2 ohms, crap used boss riot amp 38$ on Amazon. Home depot stranded 4 gauge wire with maxi fuse to battery. Ground to chassis in trunk. It's pretty good and has been wrecking my hearing for 4 years so far.
That outro footage was amazing! Love seeing white guys play our caribbean music esp reggae!❤ I heard Beres Hammond - I Could Beat Myself. "Big chune" dey! YT doesn't b!tch about old reggae songs, so no need to mute those. I see them a dime a dozen here and have several views and likes & never get taken down for copyright issues 😊
It is a steal of a deal a little pop for pop❤ love you dude just do not go Def by 60 😂. It's very easy, normal, on the ears, a sweet music road trip with no fears of ah what did you say where's my hearing aid 😂❤
These little amps on the backside of this bass tube is available as a single item where I live, the best thing is you can tune the frequency of low pass. And in my currency it's sold at 10$ and it's sold online at about 15$ .
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. BEEN MEANING TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT NOCOPYRIGHTSOUNDS IF YOUR WANTING TO SWITCH YOUR MUSIC UP WITHOUT COPYRIGHT ISSUES. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!😁😁
I've been burned so many times over the years using stuff outside the RUclips provided music I'm afraid to use other stuff. Some has been copyright free, then the music was bought by a label and they claimed copyright. It's a frustrating experience
My first "bass tube" was a cheap 10" paper cone woofer I took from an old speaker box and I put that into a soap tube I got from work. Total cost... few bucks in mats lol. But I was shocked how loud that thing was with about 100W.
I had the 12 inch version, blew the amp, ran the sub to a cheap skar amp, blew the sub, and ran a fosgate T1 silver face on a RP-800.1 for about a year for shits and giggles until the tube blew itself apart
I had an old "Shack" Optimus 8" bass tube, and some Infinity kappa 6x9s in my Hyundai back in the day. Well until it was all stolen. They busted my passenger window, and took my shit. Along with a crate of CDs. Miss that stuff.
For what they are they sound better than nothing and for the price you can't beat that I remember way back it seemed everyone was running one of these and you had to get your own amp separately
I had a Bazooka bass tube in my car once upon a time and every time I turned up the radio it smelled like hell, mice had crawled through the port and built themselves a stinky mansion of a nest inside of it.
We don't talk about speaker efficiency very much, but 70 watts on a 90db efficient speaker with foam surround is gonna produce roughly the same output as 280 watts on a 84db sensitive speaker.
Not powered, but the alpine swt-12s4 seems like the best deal over here, 70eur (77usd). 12 inch sub with 300w rms rating. Brother had one and it was surprisingly fine, wont win any spl or sq contests but fine.
I had found something like that and wired it up in a Suzuki Swift. It wasn't much with just front speakers. I wired the back from an old pioneer '98 FIE stuff and a pair of bookshelf speakers... that bumped more off the FIE rear than the tube 8"
i had the 12inch version. maybe at full tilt was 100 watts. i tried mounting at different angles in my trunk. it put out some bass but compared to a decent 10 on 250rms it fell flat.
Is there a more powerful module that could be inserted? A speaker and amp swap could net a good gain? I loved my 2- 10" bass tubes with Pioneer subs. The tubes came with cheap subs.
My brother just recently got a MTX bass tube. It bumps decently. Surprised it was 120w RMS for $160. I always just looked down on the tubes but was never really sure why?
I have had this exact bass cannon in my experience the amp did not like being ran hot and heavy for over an hour it would just cut out for thermal reasons
Just wondering if the power is the same wired high level or RCA. Also back in the 90s I remember getting my 1st Alpine with 4v preouts and how much louder it was with the increased voltage to the RCA.
Yeah man. Everyone didn't just start out with the SUPER BASS BUILD.... Remember when you got your first subwoofer installed... !!!!! Love your movie inserts.... THIS IS NOT A MICKEY MOUSE PROGRAM! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would really like to see a review and test of the MTX RT8PT. I recently purchased one and it didn't do much.... so I put it back in it's box and into to my storage. Now as an afterthought I'm wondering if the remote bass control is what was causing poor sound as well as poor output.
Do we know what the amp draw is on this or the Sparkomatic? If I see you do one more review I’m hooking up mine but I’m going to use a fuse tap that was once used for a high power ham radio. Yeah, I know I should do a home run, but if these are only drawing like 10a then why bother? I have wires already waiting for “2 Live & Magic Mike”. I also remember these using a common ground and only need the positive from the rears hooked up(if memory serves me correctly)
Can you do a video on the taramps HD2000 1ohm? There's lots of 3000 videos but only one I've found for the 2000, would be sweet to see what this can do
Wish you can do a test with a house home theater subwoofer with like a 400 W inverter just how I have it set up on my jeep I promise man you would me like holy Jesus I didn’t know this was possible well it is until you try it
You are welcome I just want to get the word out to everybody that you don’t haft to have $100,000 worth of audio equipment just to have bass in your car or SUV and there are simple ways to have bass without spending a fortune and I have been doing this for years when it comes to having bass !
Mixed feelings on rockville after seeing this. I bought a 10" tube several years ago for my grocery getter so I had something that was easy to remove. Came up with a better idea and switched to a rockville 12" sub box. Also have a 6.5" rockville tube just for S&G. For the price, not bad overall. However I am a bit disappointed and will probably never buy another rockville product again. The 12" box specs are way off from what they claim. And now I see the base tube power isn't even close to their rms figure. That's kind of a big deal. 74W vs the advertised 200/250. False advertising and they should be sued and all of us who bought their crap should be compensated. What if I bought a car that was advertised at 200HP and it only made 74HP on the dyno? That would be a big deal for sure. As always, THANKS for putting out these videos since most of us can't afford a $6000 dyno.
I would of liked to see you do a review of the 12” model of that . Max has a nice looking 8” tube I see on eBay. I bought a Roadmaster 6.5 recently different from the one you had for $30 , and I bought a Pyle passive 12” tube for 70 I don’t need them they more more as wants they were a good price

I have this in a 10 inch in a jeep. It's not bad. I got it because nobody will steal it!😂
Lmao jokes on them, if tuned correctly it bumps tho 💀
If by "bumps" yoh mean randomly catch fire surr
@alanschmeeckle3261 want to bet, lol 😆

Sparkomatic Kmart Blue Light Special has some deep bass competition. 😮
Ahh yea… tubes.
The most solid enclosure you can ever make for a speaker without being too heavy. Love em!

The bass cannon was my introduction to bass in the early 90s 😍👍
I like how even the user manual said “who reads manuals”
When I first started getting into car audio, I bought Rockville. I've learned alot since then. I'll never ever touch Rockvilles garbage ever again.
I still have the Rockville K9 subs I bought years ago and they are still bumpin'

I put the 12" model in my daughters car two years ago, she loves it and it still works great.
Great vid man, Bass tubes always take me back haha glad they're still making them!
i have the 12 and put it on breakaway plug(3 pin boat motor connector) slips in and out of my hybrid easy to make more space. maybe doesnt hit spec but does shake the mirrors well enough. great vid as always.
The design is efficient and makes good bass for the low cost
Brings back memories of my bass log I built in 92 with heavy cardboard tube and two 15" MTX while tripping on acid
If someone has that Rockville bass tube, and you don't like the way it sounds. Take the amplifier out, replace it with a black plexiglass panel, add terminals to it. Replace the subwoofer with a more powerful one, and hook it up to a separate amplifier with more power.

Have an 8” bazooka tube in my 80’s car and love it. Packs a decent punch and was easy to install.
At first we thought the 80 in the part number was for the 8” sub but it was for the 80 watt amp instead
I had decent bass from Bazooka tubes. It got zero respect as it deserved but it was ok for a little bump.
Yes and those were extremely efficient also requiring very little power

I don't know how realistic that was supposed to sound. But in my advantree wireless headphones. It actually sounde pretty awesome For what it is😊
Yeah man it was decent for sure

Glad to see Price made it out. If you see him , tell him " thank you for putting out a fantastic product at a realistic price"✌️👍🤙

For those of you who are in competetive audio, or simply cannot help spending a lot more money in an attempt to feel better about yourselves, feel free to look elsewhere.
Skar needs to shove a " RP350" in one of their bass tubes. They are the best tubes I've heard besides the old bazooka's.
Love seeing white guys play our caribbean music esp reggae!❤
I heard Beres Hammond - I Could Beat Myself.
Would be cool to see somebody build a beefy tube, install a hi-q 8 and run a jp8 to see what it does.
Sounds like a fun little project
Recently bought a Rockville slim under seat powered flat sub. I performs well for the mini van I’m sure this would make more sound.
Yes it takes up more space but the tube sub absolutely makes more bass
You could probably modify it to use an external amp (200-400w) and it would sound better.
Ah that blows.... I remember the days of CD cases being stolen.
I've always thought about buying one of these just for the enclosure whenever I see one on sale
For what they are they sound better than nothing and for the price you can't beat that I remember way back it seemed everyone was running one of these and you had to get your own amp separately
We have the Skar equivalent and it works better than expected. Bass tubes making a comeback I guess.
I bought the Seismic Audio tube when they were on clearance for 60 shipped. 😅
80w 90 bucks. Just over a buck a watt RMS! That’s a steal 😅❤
Great video! I wish you showed what those output transistors were.
the didn't have any numbers or models on them unfortunately
Great vid had a Sparkomatic bass tube in the 80's in my S10...
I had a Bazooka bass tube in my car once upon a time and every time I turned up the radio it smelled like hell, mice had crawled through the port and built themselves a stinky mansion of a nest inside of it.
Oh yeah they LOVE the inside of a speaker vent!!
Had the same thing happen to me a few times...
10:35 I know that chin strap was putting in work tryna hold that hat down. Lol
Fo sho
We don't talk about speaker efficiency very much, but 70 watts on a 90db efficient speaker with foam surround is gonna produce roughly the same output as 280 watts on a 84db sensitive speaker.
Not powered, but the alpine swt-12s4 seems like the best deal over here, 70eur (77usd).
12 inch sub with 300w rms rating. Brother had one and it was surprisingly fine, wont win any spl or sq contests but fine.
Thanks for the suggestion 👌
Man, I was waiting for your video but I had to go look for it. Make sure to update tour subscrition everyone.
I have so many people saying they are not getting notifications I don’t know why YT buggin’ my peeps
I had found something like that and wired it up in a Suzuki Swift. It wasn't much with just front speakers. I wired the back from an old pioneer '98 FIE stuff and a pair of bookshelf speakers... that bumped more off the FIE rear than the tube 8"
These cheap bass tubes are perfect for someone who just wants a little bass.
you should try the skar tube 12" they hit low 20's and are cheap !
i had the 12inch version. maybe at full tilt was 100 watts. i tried mounting at different angles in my trunk. it put out some bass but compared to a decent 10 on 250rms it fell flat.
Sparkomatic king of audio 😂
Na man, you gotta hit up Radio Shack and pick up some Optimus!
@@volvo09 🤣
@@volvo09 Or RoadMaster
Is there a more powerful module that could be inserted? A speaker and amp swap could net a good gain? I loved my 2- 10" bass tubes with Pioneer subs. The tubes came with cheap subs.
Need more gain! Too bad that clip is gone, it was classic
Hy,sir. I love you videos. Can you please make a video on the mini amp AK-380.Thank u so much!
My brother just recently got a MTX bass tube. It bumps decently. Surprised it was 120w RMS for $160. I always just looked down on the tubes but was never really sure why?
Please test ZK-HT21 Amplifier module 🙏
It will be impressive ❤
Thanks for the suggestion 👌
I have had this exact bass cannon in my experience the amp did not like being ran hot and heavy for over an hour it would just cut out for thermal reasons
Thanks for the feedback! People will be interested to hear of this issue
when it dies in a couple more minutes it will be perfect to light your charcoal grill ... yup smokeville
Excellent video as always
Just wondering if the power is the same wired high level or RCA. Also back in the 90s I remember getting my 1st Alpine with 4v preouts and how much louder it was with the increased voltage to the RCA.
Future video request: mtx rt8pt
Thanks for the suggestion
I use to have a 8" "the crunch" crunch drive in a tube. Worked nice till I murdered it on purpose.
Yeah man. Everyone didn't just start out with the SUPER BASS BUILD.... Remember when you got your first subwoofer installed... !!!!! Love your movie inserts.... THIS IS NOT A MICKEY MOUSE PROGRAM! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I laugh every time the MICKEY MOUSE PROGRAM clip is played. It never gets old.
@@jodyzung6455You are right it never does😂
I would really like to see a review and test of the MTX RT8PT. I recently purchased one and it didn't do much.... so I put it back in it's box and into to my storage. Now as an afterthought I'm wondering if the remote bass control is what was causing poor sound as well as poor output.
Love the exo buld
Are the Hi-Level outputs a PASSIVE design? Like can you connect 2 more coaxial speakers to the outputs on that sub?
I came across a 12in crunch in a tube and a kicker tube with jl sub from the fleamarket this past weekend
Ole Kyle slammin lol
any plans of doing a review on the deaf bonce atom pro amps? I just got a 12.5k atom pro and it was dead out of the box so wondering why.
There's lots of 3000 videos but only one I've found for the 2000, would be sweet to see what this can do
Wish you can do a test with a house home theater subwoofer with like a 400 W inverter just how I have it set up on my jeep I promise man you would me like holy Jesus I didn’t know this was possible well it is until you try it
Thanks for the suggestion 👌
I still have my old bass cannon.
I meant to write MTX not max
I had two kicker 8” bass tubes in my s10
U should test out the rockville 6x9 subwoofer. I have seen any test videos on it.
