    In 2019 I made a custom under seat subwoofer for my 2018 KIA Niro. I built a custom sealed box that ended up with about 0.35 cubic feet. The sub I used was a 10” Cadence shallow mount 2 ohm subwoofer. The amp was a cheap Walmart Razor mono amp. Total cost for everything was about $200.
    The sub had INCREDIBLE output down to about 30 hz. Anything below 30 hz rolled off VERY quickly and was just not useable. With that being said, the tight thumpy bass was AMAZING!! The bass was easily felt in your chest and it mixed really well with the stock speakers without overwhelming them, unless you cranked the bass knob!
    I ran this setup for 3 years until I sold the car. The best part of this setup is it did not take up ANY cargo space but still filled in the low end pretty good.

      Some Vehicles don't have room for a to build your sub. Some little crew cab pickups you can't even put nothing behind the back seat it's so cramped

    • @91CavGT5
      @91CavGT5 Месяц назад +2

      @@dannydennis318 you have to get creative in modern vehicles. For example, with the vehicle that I mentioned, a 2018 KIA Niro, it was VERY limited on the height due to brackets for power seat motors as well as a big vent to blow air in the back seat area. The vent pulled out VERY easily. I cut the brackets for the power seat motors out since my car had manual seat controls.
      Behind the back seats in pickup trucks can be EXTREMELY tight. I’ve seen videos on Ram 4 door trucks of people removing the sound deadening behind the back seats and thus gaining an extra inch of depth. One could build a custom box utilizing materials that are not ordinarily used to take advantage of all of the air space and depth available. I’ve also seen risers available for seats that raise the seats up slightly to give more room.
      You have to get creative, but possibilities do exist.

    • @dannydennis318

      @91CavGT5 Yes I got creative in my 2022 Ford Maverick I found a guy that made boxes Ford up north that gives it .6 ft so I bought a 10-in Sundown classic that's okay with 0.5 for sealed I'm running out with a Stinger 1000.1. It is 1,000 RMS at 1 ohm.
      Before I do this I just had a Rockville 10-in powered sub behind the back seat and it sound pretty good up to about 60% volume. But I wanted more. Armoring the Highline Stadium JBL mids and Tweeter pack in the front called 62 CF what the JBL Apex 1502 for those which is 125 a chan RMS. And everything is hidden and it'll surprise you for what it is. The main thing everybody needs to know and I know most guys know this the polarity has to be right along with the gains and crossovers.

    I literally installed two of these this weekend in my Mustang. They did NOT fit under the seats even with the seat all the way up. I ended up mounting them in the back seat replacing the rear seat cushion. They sound decent. They added exactly what I was missing in the factory system, a little bit of bass to even out the good highs and mids that the factory system puts out. They are nothing like I would have had when I was in my younger years but they deliver 200$ worth of bass in a small package.

    10:15 the 4 smaller TO220s are going to be power supply. 2 for rapid switching of the 12V input for the step up transformer. the other 2 TO-220s are going to be simple rectifier diodes, altho MUCH faster then your typical 1N4004 for example. im talking an *average* recovery time of 10 NANOseconds VS 1.5 microseconds. The last larger 2 is a TO-3P package and those are regular NPN and PNP BJT's for the class AB output. A pair of TO-3P's can safely do around 120-150W of output before heat dissipation in the package becomes an issue, so your test results closely match what i would have guessed if i seen the PCB before the tests were done
    BONUS: If you pause at 10:12 we can tell what components are which from the traces. the pair of TO220s on the right are the input switching to the low side of the transformer and the pair to the left are the rectifiers to turn the AC into pulsed DC which is then sent to the filter caps, when the feeds +/- voltage to the collector, or center pin of the TO-3Ps

    It would be interesting to know if any "under-seat" subwoofers really make the grade. I have doubts due to their shallow nature to be able to compete with standard subwoofers. But those "bass thumpers" you can add to a seat seem a novel idea if you already have a subwoofer for your car. The brand with a weird name "Hyanka" seems to be decent entry level car stereo equipment. Which even entry level stereo equipment is better than 99% of OEM. You'd think $35,000 car would come with a good stereo from the factory. And still the answer is a resounding "No"! Thanks for the video.

    • @91CavGT5
      @91CavGT5 2 месяца назад +2

      The pre-fabricated ones won’t do much regardless of the brand. If you want an underseat subwoofer that actually has good output then you need to custom build one, but not squared off like this one. It needs to be contoured to your particular vehicle to take full advantage of all of the air space. I did this and it worked REALLY good.

Despite being a 6 x 3 sub, it's perfect for the scenario where you have replaced your HU, replaced your door and rear speakers, and need just enough extra bass without reworking your build. It fits so well mounted basically at the top of a footwell.

    I think those dimples are to keep the sheet metal aluminum Ridgid so it doesn't vibrate. Metal buzzing from bass is a hell of a sound.

    Anyone ever thought of using a couple of these ones to put either under your front seats , or directly in front of the seats, behind your feets.
    And then tune them to add midbass only, like 70hz to ~180hz?
    This to make a nice addition to frontsystem when having big woofers in the trunk.

    Did you manage to measure the woofer impedance? Was it actually 4Ω?
    That speaker might actually do better in a slightly larger enclosure?
    Sure it's no Alpine shallow mount (and what a subwoofer that Alpine is!) but maybe if you bypass the internal amplifier and use a better amplifier it may do better....
    I have seen similar products on marketplace and wondered if used directly wired to an external amplifier, might it actually be great for additional mid bass punch?

    As someone else asked if you might be able to review more of these style of powered amps it would be appreciated. I personally am not to brand specific i am partial to JL but they are pricey. If i could find a good deal on one I would snatch it up.
    Ones I was looking at were Blaupunkt, MB quart, JBL, Phoenix Gold, Infinity, Alpine, Kicker. I was into car audio in its heyday and I know sadly brands that used to be front runners have fallen from grace. Still have my Soundstream Reference amps. Just looking for a good bang for your buck quality unit. I saw you did a Rockville tube one but them lying through their teeth about the out put is no bueno. Anyways, Thanks again.
    EDIT: I forgot MTX and Planet Audio. :) MTX Thunder used to be a beast. not sure how they are today though.

    I mean playing through my shop system it sounded pretty good but that’s probably cause I’m using a 12 in kicker q in ported box lol. But for the price and if you can fit it and don’t want slamming bass not bad again . Also shout out to Big D Wiz for some clean ass vehicles 🚗 😂

    What amplifier would you add to a stock 2018 chevy spark? I think the alternator is 60 amps lol so maybe a 350.1 skar? I wish mechman made a 300 amp alternator for my car so I could add a 15 or 2 12's.

    For me this one is a pass, although I appreciate Hyanka offering a lot of their products at a low price and I believe the quality is good, this one is just a bit low powered. Hyanka please do an active subwoofer with a true 500 watts rms and sell it for $200 and I would buy that, it doesn't even need to be an under seat style.

    This one actually seems to not lie about its power as blatantly. I've seen reviews from other audio enthusiasts of similar types of subs(most of them made in the same factory and just with a different sticker) and it had an even weaker fuse that made it obvious. Same rear panel and also a woofer that isn't actually 10 inches.
    This one seems to be decent enough and even isolates electronics from vibrations. Unlike the worse ones I've seen. This one actually hits closer to 100W while the others had issues with 50W.
    But the super thin sub and tiny magnet just makes me think it's going to hit the bottom of the magnet really hard and really often.
    It is the same thing as the other chinese dropshipped things. But not as bad as the others.

  • @PoXFreak

    As long as class D has been in use and refined, I would rather see one of these use a dvc sub on a TH8954 at 50-60v rail and get roughly 250 clean watts from it, along with better efficiency.
