I've a hp Chromebook and bought Logitech s150 OEM external speakers. Not thinking it has no 3.5mm jack. Hoping they are recognized by ChromeOS. Also these speakers work even if you have broken soundcard. Thanks for showing your audio outputs.
Update: Rebooted Chromebook, turned bluetooth on and off, paired and unpaired device. All of sudden the mic and speaker settings appeared. ??? Not sure which on/off scenario did the trick, but it's fully functional now. Thanks all!

USB?!?! I've got a small USB speaker that works fine on our other laptop. I plugged it into this Chromebook (we needed more volume than the computer's speakers could provide) and immediately loose sound. No problem right? I just go to the speaker settings like he mentions, I see the USB speaker device listed, click on it and no sound. I even see the blue checkmark alongside the USB device listed. What am I missing?

Have bluetooth earbuds that immediately connect with sound on Chromebook, however the mic does not. Nothing shows up in the notification area to allow selection of any inputs or outputs (neither mic or headphone). The notification for the bluetooth headset shows device with battery level, but no volume or mic settings. Oh, well, will keep trying. Any other way (less creating my own software) to force settings for bluetooth headset and mic?

My issue was that I was plugging in headphones that had a mic on. So it was jumping over to them for the audio input source as well as the audio output source. When I recorded something on soundtrap with my condenser Mic in front of my face and soundboard on I was getting bad quality. Even tho soundtrap was set to use AUDIO 1USB the chromebook was using the shitty headphones mic!!! Wish I could change the defaults and stuff, I'm going to have to manually make sure it's all set right each time.
I have my HP Chromebook connected to 2 identical HP monitors using a docking station. The monitors are connected to my docking station via DP cables. I can listen to audio through one speaker, or the other speaker, but not both speakers at the same time. I usually listen to audio through headphones, but it would be nice sometimes to listen to audio through both monitor speakers at the same time. Is it even possible to select 2 audio outputs at the same time, or am I stuck listening through 1 speaker or the other? It doesn't seem as though there is an option to pick 2 audio outputs at the same time. You seem to be limited to 1 source. But I thought I would ask the experts.

I can't say definitively, but I doubt it because you'd need a multichannel audio card, and I haven't seen one in any of the Chromebook specs I've looked at (though it may exist in certain high-end models).

How do you play two at the same time. I need to plug into some speakers in one location and have a couple of other bluetooth speakers nearby also playing to cover voices for confidentiality. I know a couple of manufacturers make bluetooth speakers that are linkable that way. Will chrome book do this or will I have to use a different device to run my music from?
I want to route internal sound from a youtube video to my students in a virtual classroom. Currently, my only option is to unplug my earphones and allow my students to hear what is playing on my speakers. On a Windows based machine, I can easily enable the stereo mix and it becomes available for zoom, meets, and Screencastify. Then, while in meets, for example, when I share my desktop and play a video, I switch from microphone to stereo mix and the kids hear and see the video. My district is taking away my windows based computer and replacing it with a Chromebook. How will I enable the internal sound so my kids can hear and see video on a Chromebook?

Mac can be finicky sometimes, too. Despite selecting the correct input/output, it occasionally just doesn't switch over.
