    You should test newer 2-in-1 Chromebooks, most of them come with a USI Stylus support.
    ARM Chromebook Tablets should work very well with professional apps as they are more compatible with Android than traditional x86 Chromebooks.
    IMO 2-in-1 Design with ARM architecture is the future of Chromebooks, as they so heavily rely on built-in Android with 8+ Year support and Google Play Services. We'll see more high-end ARM processors in Chromebooks matching the iPads towards Q3 2021.
    Maybe you consider a colab with Chrome Unboxed for a next Chromebook video ;D

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 2 года назад +2

      I absolutely agree. And there's the freedom of using the same classic tablet with your laptop, a chromebook, your PC desktop, your mac mini, (heck...now, even your whatever android phone).... a piece of hardware that even the great ones (XP-Pen Deco Pro Medium, Deco 03 , etc. My fav is the Wacom L and XL) are dirty cheap. It takes time to train it well, but then you have gained such skill, and then can paint much better on display-tablets (if you have to, at a job, etc). While people having only painted on display-tablets, have a hard time in improvising the skill at a company, all of a sudden. All to be said, it took me many years to feel _completely_ natural with a pen-tablet.

    Compared to a mouse, do you sense a small delay or lag between the movement of your hand and the responsiveness of the pointer on the screen? I'm asking because I've tried a couple of wacom tablets and there is a tiny lag between actual movement and the pointer that makes it difficult to get used to it, specially when you are used to work with older wacom models that are super responsive and the movement is very exact as a mouse.

    The one option I want to see is on screen drawing with a screen that has a higher refresh rate than 60 hz. I think the Apple iPad pro has a 90 hz refresh rate which is what makes it the best drawing experience.

  • @DevilHunterWolf
    @DevilHunterWolf 3 года назад

    There are better drawing solutions out there, but stuff like this is a boon to the youth. The two big go to devices for schools are iPads and Chromebooks. There's already more affordable Apple Pencil alternatives for the iPad students and now these are something for the Chromebook students. As classrooms get more and more digital, inexpensive solutions like what you showcased here are going to be important to help keep art alive in the classroom. And even if it's something the parent has to buy separate, plug and play simplicity and the low price tag make it easy for the child to just jump in. If they really get into art, they can escalate to other solutions. If not, it didn't cost an arm and a leg to find out and would be easy to give away to another art hopeful student. Good stuff!

    I already have a pen tablet, but not comfortable to use my work laptop, nor do I want to spend lots of money,
    so I bought a cheap chromebook instead!
    HP Chromebook 11 G8, it costed me around $160, and it works so well it caught me off guard, never thought this normally low end hardware (if it was a windows laptop), paired with chromebook to run this well.
    Definitely better than lower end windows laptop that uses celeron Nxxxx series, or anything older. Much much better than my friend's ol' Surface Go.

    I've been trying to figure out options since my mother got me a Chromebook for Christmas not knowing what she was getting, and my old Wacom tablet doesn't exactly work since it's mostly for Windows. Though based on what you said in the video, I'm thinking about getting the XP-Pen tablet myself to try it out and see how it goes. I haven't really drawn since I changed OSes from (Windows to Chrome) except for maybe doodles with a stylus and I'm not used to having such a big screen, so I hope I can find something soon since I miss drawing like I used to... ^ ^;

    I actually bought a chromebook and I have been able to draw with it. It definitely took some time to get used to because Clip studio doesn't quiet work the same way on it as it does on Windows or Mac.
    Downside is that Chromebook uses apps. That leaves you with art programs that are apps. Thankfully Adobe and Clip Studio have really great mobile versions.
    If you're using CS, you will unfortunately only be able to use a subscription model. I have the windows version purchased, but I can not use that. You have to buy a monthy subscription which kinda sucks.
    Anyway, great video. It kinda just popped onto my recommended page.

    Can you try drawing on a super cheap Lenovo Chromebook Duet using the Lenovo USI Pen?

    Can you use the pen like a mouse? Say to instead of free hand to draw how you’d like you can select a shape click and drag or make it bigger or whatnot.

      Although I don't have a Chromebook to test, that is generally how they work. If you hover the pen over the surface, it will move the mouse. If you touch it down (like making a mark on paper) the computer counts it as a mouse click. Very useful for design, 3d modeling, some videogames...

    could you please test out Lenovo Chromebook Duet? it's a budget chromebook tablet (around 300$ I believe) that comes with a keyboard and a stand AND it supports USI pens (you would need to purchase that separately) with the screen, so if it's any good it might be a budget alternative option, would be nice to find out 🙏 cheers!

      If your focus is going to be drawing digitally just stay away from Adobe, it’s not worth the money when the competition has better options.
