If you're able to, and you really want it, I think you should get one to try it out. If you don't like it, I'm sure you can return it, or sell it again as a barely used item. I felt the same way, but I actually got used to it very quickly. I’ve actually improved on my art because of the tablet. I recommend you try it out, and if you don’t like it, you can probably return it. I recommend getting a Huion Kamvas Pro 13 from Amazon. It’s lightweight, cheap, a good size, great quality, and it’s easy to draw on. Though it has many wires and has to be plugged into a wall, so it’s not portable, you also probably need a desk for it, but you could manage drawing on your bed.
I’m not gonna lie, it took me a few months to get used to my tablet. Like, six. It really depends on the person though, and if you use your tablet more it’s probably going to go a lot faster. I recommend the Wacom intuos (no screen), it’s around 100$ but super cheap on sale days like Black Friday FYI, my tablet is a Wacom intuos (no screen)
Bruh it took me a month to get used to a screen tablet. Meanwhile, I never got used to my wacom intuos (old version) even when it died after 5 years of service 😂😂 Anyway, I say you sleep on it for a week to a few months. If you're still thinking that you want that tablet, then go for it!
If you're a beginner digital artist and want a tablet I suggest the Simbus Picasso drawing tablet. It has it's own screen and it's portable, so you can take it wherever you like.

Remember, no matter what tablet you go with, it’s not gonna improve your skills/abilites overnight. It’s simply a tool and you still have to get those gainz to become better. edited comment to better clarify my point.
No idiot a tablet does help you because of all the tools it has, beginners are going more towards digital than traditional, because its easier simple, the tools you have makes a big difference in you're artworks you idiot
@@livetochange974 you are generalizing. In my personal case, getting used to using the digital technique compared to other traditional techniques counted more than shit. Despite the fact that for others digital is easier for them, it all depends on each personal case and not on the technique or how many tools you have. And it is more than obvious to say that "the tablet that an artist chooses defines his talent" makes you look more stupid than you already are
But Hquackham One only has one button - isn’t that horrible? For me that’s a deal breaker, especially for 3D work. You seriously didn’t miss the extra button?
4:52 Actually, the opposite is true for me. I'm more stressed out when drawing in digital because I'm such a perfectionist, so I spend a lot of time correcting my art instead of practicing. I like drawing traditionally better, especially with pen because I know I'll mess up, and that's ok. I'm not perfect. Also I built up confidence to draw with pen by participating in Inktober. I highly recommend that challenge to any artist.
I mean, with traditional there is the eraser, wich builds a false sense of being able to fix mistakes.. with the catch that erasing too much makes for a messy drawing. I still prefer digital in wich you can fix it all. If i just wanna practice I just dont get too picky about the little mistakes, thats more about self control than anything.
I have the same problem. When it comes to letting loose and simply drawing without having any stress, traditional is the way for me. But I like to scan it since I prefer digital painting than actual painting.
You are like me. I only use my cintiq for finished renderings. Otherwise if I sketched and inked on it I would be zooming in on it and zooming out all day trying to get the line perfectly straight to then with I drew it with fountain pen because I prefer the rugged look and aesthetic over the perfect pixel digital look. I just like digital when doing sketches that can be printed Off later to be inked over for my comics. Some people call it more work but when you directly draw on paper you draw the line and it’s finished and you are more in contact with your drawing and not having a screen breaking that contact between artist and art.
I got a non display tablet recently, but had to return it. I am used to using paper, so looking at the screen while I draw just felt awful. Gonna save up for a screen now :/

It's an incredible tablet for about the same price I bought my old intuos pro (another amazing gadget btw, but I wanted to try something with a screen). If you compare the price range, huion is much better for new artists than wacom.
@@pandacapuccino yeah! Beyond that, tell me in this time how did you feel the color accuracy? Is that "antiglare" technology real?
diego g. It felt exactly like that! About the huion, the pen is great, the anti glare is really good (the screen is matte and has a paper-like texture, feels a lot similar to drawing in an intuos), and the paralaxe is minimal. The color calibration was a bit too saturated for my taste, made the pieces look a bit washed out in my phone, but I calibratated it comparing it to my notebook and now it's perfect :) mine came with a glove, but not with a stand (there are some bundles with the stand though), so I ordered a stand from another company. Wacom is the Apple of the tablet industry, 50% of the price is just the logo. Save yourself some money and get a Huion or something else. There - I said it. Cool video, though.
huions are absolute garbage that cut corners everywhere. drivers never work, cheap material, and no customer service at all. wacom tablets are the only ones that are built to last, you can easily get 10 years out of one of their tablets before having to replace it but with huion you're lucky to get even 2 years out of it.

The bamboo wasn't that a bad little tablet for what it was. You had to develop the hand/eye coordination because you had a larger monitor compared to the space where you use your wrist and that scaled/felt weird.

@@megancrouch Good point. As of now, the Artisul Displays are too new to say how long they last, so it could be possible that they aren't as long-lasting as the Wacom ones. @@megancrouch I know Huion have a bad reputation, but XP I haven't heard anything bad about. Granted I'm not an artist at all, I couldn't draw a decent sketch even if my life depended on it, but the tablet is great and responsive and they even have Linux drivers now.
@@SkepticalCaveman My point is that cheaper tablets are great for the average hobbiest, if you're a professional working in the field, wacom is industry standard for a reason. Use what works for you!
@@megancrouch Since Wacom can't compete in the budget segment they should give it up and should cater exclusively to the pro market, focusing on quality instead of failing to compete on price.
Megan Crouch I think a lot of the complaints with huion when people say it’s broken don’t realize that it’s not the tablet, it’s the driver. The driver is a bit finicky sometimes and every few months (depending on the computer) my laptop has to have the driver reinstalled every few months but I’ve never had to reinstall the driver on my desktop. And if you don’t reinstall the driver manually from the website, it really can seem like the tablet is broken, pen pressure won’t work, the tablet will take a bit to recognize the pen and there will be delay, etc. After figuring this out I have had my huion for about 5 years yet with no issues. I love my huion.
Im usually a lurker, but just have to say thank you so much for mentioning me!! Didnt expect this at all, I feel so honored! Really loved doing the challenge
I can tell you're having fun, so I ain't at all slamming you or this video or the effort put into this video. Though I admit, I went into this video expecting it to be informative to help make a purchase decision, and I think this video is more tailored to be entertainment. Which there's nothing wrong with, it's just not what I was expecting and not informative, which may not be what the goal was anyway. The criteria for every tablet was 1) How many cables? 2) Portable? 3) Did I like drawing it? There was virtually zero elaboration on any opinions given, cost vs value discussion for each tablet individually or relative to the other tablets, discussion about the differences in styluses, etc. Giving negative marks to the bigger tablets for not being portable feels silly because they're not really meant to be portable on-the-go tablets, which contributes to the overall feeling that this video wasn't really designed to be an in-depth informative video, and just meant to be entertainment. But it's super possible that's how it's suppose to be and I came here with improper expectations (I also thought this was going to compare different brands since the title just says "top drawing tablets", while all the tablets in this video are wacom). I just came across here from my youtube homepage, and happen to be looking for opinions on alternatives to my current tablet (Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 2). As an aside, like many others, I started out with traditional art before digital, and I'll almost always recommend to anybody who wants to learn, to start traditional, but you made a fair argument for starting digital too. Anyways, I still recognize the effort put into this video, so keep doing what ya do, I think the title made me think it was going to be something else.
I mean they are all Wacom and use pretty much the exact same pen tech with some small changes here and there that don't make much of a difference. They are all almost identical tablets when it comes to drawing capabilities since the pen is what really matters. Other than that it's just preference and screen quality.
Bruh I know some professional Japanese artists (like soejima shigenori) is still using the wacom bamboo fun. HE DID ALL THE PERSONA ART ON WACOM BAMBOO FUN

100% agree, I've been working professionally for 18 years and I would choose an intuos over a cintiq any day. But it's worth noting that even though the bamboo is a very legit tablet, the intuos/pro line is a significant step up in build quality later on; both the pen itself and pressure sensitivity control. So it does make a difference in speed/output once you reach a certain skill level (just like quality of tools in any other medium) and is a worth investment if it can be afforded. A lot of people also draw on Small models when they really should be trying out Medium - while it can be a very understandable cost issue for many, drawing on a smaller size tablet can be really hard (and straining) compared to a slightly larger one. Another instance where tools can hold the artist back to a degree. (Disregarding that people can make great art with just a mouse, albeit very slowly and frustratingly)
This reassured me that size isn't everything, since I've been using a Surface Pro 4 for years and the Wacom One is about the same size. Sure, prices are different, but it gives me a legit visual for my biggest concern which was pretty much just size.
Honestly Im sticking with the iPad pro 12.9, I really wish I could stick with all windowsgear, but my surfacebook 2 just doesn't match the experience of apple pencil + procreate.
For anyone coming through, I want to tell you that a cheap huion non-screen tablet still does the trick goddamn well. Not even for just a "good place to start", but long term.
I recently picked up a huion kamvas 16 (2021) it's pretty good. Never had a drawing tablet before though so can't compare. It felt like it just offered allot more that what Wacom was offering at it's price point. The review I saw mentioned a small amount of line wobble, but I didn't get anything that I could see. So that was a nice surprise I'm to dumb to see it or they fixed it with software either way it's a win win.
This review was too focused on trying to be funny and was not that helpful. Doesn't go into specs at all and there is no comparison going on other than size.
I bought the XP pen artist 12 pro for my birthday early 2021 and although i haven't had experience using any other screen tablets, it is really good. it's small enough to be convenient but large enough to be practical, the pen feels really great, the scroll wheel is very satisfying to turn, and overall I love it. It was about $280 AUD (on sale) and i'm incredibly glad I bought it. I have already seen my art improve so much in the course of 1 year, it's crazy!!
I've been using Wacom Intuos Pros for getting on for 20 years so very used to the feeling of drawing in one place and it appearing in another (I've never really thought about a screen tablet but I might, at some point). The latest Intuos pro is great - that wire can be taken off when the thing's charged but if you stick with the stock rougher surface you're going to go through nibs like you wouldn't believe. So I complained to Wacom and they sent me a new, slicker drawing surface for free. Problem solved but you'll lose the feel a bit. On the price - I hear you but I should say that in almost 20 years using the Intuos Pro every workday I've only had an actual hardware failure once. I've upgraded a couple of times but I cannot fault their build quality. The tablet I'm leaning on as I write this is an Intuos 3 from 13 or 14 years ago which I use at home and it's still going strong with no problems whatsoever.
For any beginners wondering what tablet is right for them, I have two pictures for comparison check out my Instagram: "stehina" (shameless self promotion). The two tablets used are: IPad Pro 12 in: For most of the digital drawings on the account Wacom Volito 2: For the red/orange haired girl portrait drawn in 2014 The Wacom Volito 2 only had about 3.5x5 inches of active area, it was given to me by my brother ten years ago when I lived in a third world country and I was so happy I almost cried (I was broke and drawing tablets were impossible to find in our country). I grinded the hell out of it and tried to force myself to draw at least once a week, I ended up making some pretty nice portraits using just that tiny tablet and GIMP 2.4. Now what I want to convey here is that I could pull off a pretty decent portrait at the time using a tiny tablet that had about 3.5x5 inches of active area and little pressure sensitivity. This was all because I forced myself to use it and I want you to do the same. You're going to want to buy a bigger tablet and make excuses like "I think the other tablet will be better for me this one feels off", but don't. Just practice hard until it "you become one with it". Do it until it feel just as comfortable as you are on paper and pencil. Love your current equipment. Good luck!
Hi guys, just a few important details that are missed here. If you are professional don't make compromises with equipment, especially not with color reproduction... For example: - Cintiq 27QHD: Color Gamut 97% Adobe RGB. Displayable colors (maximum) 1.07 billion (Requires video card supporting 10-bit color) - Cintiq 22 HD: Color Gamut 72% Adobe RGB. Displayable colors (maximum) 16.7 million I work with 27" for years and it is much different than 22HD. Besides colors, 22HD (1920x1080px) makes pixels very noticeable which is not the case with 27" and QHD resolution (2560x1440px). There is a reason why it cost much and it is worth every penny. I can fully agree that 32" is too big for moving it around, for example, 27" is big but it is a good compromise, it offers comfort while painting with the 60cm diagonal (like average painting canvas) and there is enough space for sidebars and tools, but 32... That is probably too much. In the end, everybody should choose depending on their requirement, but for beginners, I would recommend Cintiq 16 HD, which costs around $500, it has fairly correct colors, and pixels are not noticeable with 1080p on 15.6" screen.

I recommend the Wacom intuos (no screen), it’s around 100$ but super cheap on sale days like Black Friday
FYI, my tablet is a Wacom intuos (no screen)
Bruh it took me a month to get used to a screen tablet. Meanwhile, I never got used to my wacom intuos (old version) even when it died after 5 years of service 😂😂 Anyway, I say you sleep on it for a week to a few months. If you're still thinking that you want that tablet, then go for it!
If you're a beginner digital artist and want a tablet I suggest the Simbus Picasso drawing tablet. It has it's own screen and it's portable, so you can take it wherever you like.

@@livetochange974 you are generalizing. In my personal case, getting used to using the digital technique compared to other traditional techniques counted more than shit. Ethan: if you are looking to make a little hobby out of it, Intuos is kinda cool...
Me making my living off Intuos for the past 8 years : Hurt
But I like to scan it since I prefer digital painting than actual painting.
not when you ink it, that's why I kinda want to do inktober this year
I'm a perfectionist too but I get frustrated as hell when I mess up and I keep erasing and redrawing making it look even worse

About the huion, the pen is great, the anti glare is really good (the screen is matte and has a paper-like texture, feels a lot similar to drawing in an intuos), and the paralaxe is minimal.

But that's his style and it seems to work so just go on, it's simply not to my taste but that's alright, I'll look out for more of his stuff because again his tips are helpful
@@annikamerz Way too many "friendly" art youtubers as it is. Most artists could use some of the light hearted negging that ethan provides.
Not gonna lie, I don’t trust your review now.
For me as an tattoo artist best place to draw is on human skin 😂😂
Well I love paper and pencil, and I can pretty much do amazing art on my iPad procreate, for professional and study purpose 🙏🏼💜✨
im pretty curious, have you ever tried drawing using your fingers? been doing that since i started; just curious man
Would have been nice to see other brands covered, brands like huion and xppen has supposedly came a long way.
The thing is, compare the Wacom One to Huion Kamvas/Kamvas Pro 13/12 you can get better color gamut for a cheaper price
PLUS express keys if you want them and same compatibility/better compatibility. Wacom’s falling behind, has for some time now.
bro why you throwing shade at proko?
Me: Imma go buy a qhackcom right now
*checks my wallet*
Me: I guess I will just manage it with paper and pencil :)
*Cries in a corner*
It's kinda pricey he said....
I can order an iPad pro by this price 💔
rahaf .14 or just go fetch a used older model in decent conditions, I’m still rockin a 2nd gen pro and it works like a charm
you can order an iPad but you cannot paint on hundreds of layers and really big canvases like B4
I still use a Wacom bamboo, and paint high quality art. It's not the tool. It's the person using it.
Exactly! I've been using the same one for a few years now and it still works very well. I expect it will last me a long time👌
I sold my intuos pro M after having in for YEARS. Finally upgradet to a screen tablet, the Innovator 16 from XP Pen. It's pretty great too!
Ethan after desk modification: I give this tablet 8 out of ten toes...
Underrated comment
This review was too focused on trying to be funny and was not that helpful. Doesn't go into specs at all and there is no comparison going on other than size.
I bought the XP pen artist 12 pro for my birthday early 2021 and although i haven't had experience using any other screen tablets, it is really good. it's small enough to be convenient but large enough to be practical, the pen feels really great, the scroll wheel is very satisfying to turn, and overall I love it. It was about $280 AUD (on sale) and i'm incredibly glad I bought it. I have already seen my art improve so much in the course of 1 year, it's crazy!!
lmfao imagine buying a tablet with a mouse embedded in it, ethan is such a boomer.
"hhwacum"
The two tablets used are:
IPad Pro 12 in: For most of the digital drawings on the account
Wacom Volito 2: For the red/orange haired girl portrait drawn in 2014
The Wacom Volito 2 only had about 3.5x5 inches of active area, it was given to me by my brother ten years ago when I lived in a third world country and I was so happy I almost cried (I was broke and drawing tablets were impossible to find in our country).
For example:
- Cintiq 27QHD: Color Gamut 97% Adobe RGB. Displayable colors (maximum) 1.07 billion (Requires video card supporting 10-bit color)
- Cintiq 22 HD: Color Gamut 72% Adobe RGB. Displayable colors (maximum) 16.7 million
I work with 27" for years and it is much different than 22HD.
Do you live in my mind? Because I'm looking for a tablet these days
