You're right. You can tell he's being genuine about it and that it's a true passion. It's a shame so little people get to promote or follow Chromebooks' releases and upgrades... It's just so promising, and efficient already! 👀
Next, perhaps a breakdown by price group. Say up to $250, $250 to $400; $400 to $650, $650 and up. Price is always gonna be the #1 differentiator. The groups should allow for enough entries in each group, not necessarily exact same incremental group value. Also, what not to buy; for exampe a cheap junk computer is just trouble. Thanks for the video. By the way the C302 is the greatest Chromie ever made. I love my new Go, but the C302 was a masterpiece esp. for the $$. Thanks again.
I just bought an Asus chromebook with a backlit keyboard, and because the keys are aluminum colour and the light is pale, I can't see the letters on the keys in dimmer light, e.g. my living room in the evening with normal lamps on. I can type without looking most of the time, but it's mildly annoying.
@@gsreads Backlighting does look cool, and I do most of my typing on a mechanical keyboard or att my place of work, a keyboard with the same size keys but membrane. Chromebook doesn't have the correct keyboard layout for us who have typed for decades. Also, backlighting looks cool.
Bought my first back-lit keyboard last month (Lenovo Flex 5) and now I don't know how I lived without it...my other one is a decent display and also does it have upward facing speakers...I am not a fan of using headphones or of having to buy speakers.
For a 10:27 video, this is actually very comprehensive in what you'd need to consider if you need a chromebook or not. Currently pondering on whether going for a chromebook or a full-on laptop and this video helped me realize that at my current computer and productivity needs, a chromebook would suffice. Just thinking about whether or not I should consider future-proofing and maybe think about other stuff I could do. But as it stands, this video helped me find the answer whether a chromebook fits me. Thanks!
I spent months searching for the perfect (replacement) Chromebook for me but every time I thought I'd finally found one, another better one came along. It was this channel that finally persuaded me to buy the C434-TA and I've never regretted it for a moment. I shall come back here the next time I'm in need of a new C/b, the reviews are so thorough and honest. Thank you.
one of best thing was buying asus c434ta myself too just amazing little machine doing wonders and got it for dirtcheap as well cause every new year new stuff but this one stand out to even 1500$ laptops

With 45 years of computing technology under my belt, I've decided that, except for lightroom, Chrome OS can handle my work. I ordered a fine refurb with plenty of horsepower and storage. Then I dug around in youtube to find the best advice with the least glitz and malarkey so I'm ready when it arrives. So far, hands down, this guy on Chromebook Unboxed, is THE most pleasant to watch and THE best presenter and smartest explainer.
As someone with a Gaming PC at my desk. I’ve always had a chrome book in my backpack for 5years now through College for portability+excellent battery life. Any student who’s major only requires several Essays,Thesis/Dissertation, .pdf documents, etc. I highly recommend a mid-range Chromebook. You Engineering/Art students already know to get a Windows/Apple laptop so don’t bother with a chromebook ya’ll aren’t Google’s demographic.
Hey ! I just bought mine on Amazon.com and i was not quite sure to invest money on this ASUS Flip C434. I bought the 8GB RAM/64GB Storage Version. If you have it, can you please let me know how reliable and great it is ? Thank you.

Nice informative video. Bought my first chromebook recently and it didn't have a backlit keyboard. Now into winter with darker nights and days , I wish it had one.
Thank you 😊 kindly for your videos… especially this one. I just opened my new Asus 14 inch Chromebook and I’m accustomed to my 16 inch MacBook Pro. I’m considering getting a Chromebook for my mother who has a desktop but would like a laptop to avoid going up and down stairs all day. Her uses are usually Emails, searching the World Wide Web, pictures and printing.
Just wanted to say that WeVideo is an awesome video editor that runs on the (Chrome) Browser. Workflow is to upload video clips straight to WeVideo from the micro SD card or Google Drive first, so you don't need a large or fast HD. Highly recommend this tool for anyone and especially Chromebook users.
You have to consider upload speeds with your isp though. That’s a biggie. If I were into video creation, having to upload everything to be able to edit it would hurt me because my provider stinks on upload speeds. It’s as boring as checking what your auto insurance will cost before you buy that beautiful new ride, but it’s just as important after the purchase when you’re thinking, “Man, I should have thought of that!”
This is another good video. I fail to understand, though, why folks always make it appear that if you buy a Chromebook, even a good one and it somehow has to become your ONLY computer? Why not approach it by saying you can continue to use your MacBook Pro and/or Windows machine for those things that they do best and spend the rest of the time with a nice Chromebook? That's what I do. I'm retired so about 80% of my time is on my Pixelbook, but the other times (Fusion 360, for 3D printing, for example), I just grab my MacBook Pro., a 2015 model with Parallels that's still working great. Why not?
I agree! I have an iPad, gaming laptop, and use chromebook for school and general web browsing. I think having all of them is awesome. I can do literally anything I want.
Thanks for such a helpful channel. It helped me choose my machine (an Asus C523NA) and I shared your channel with my brother who chose an Acer. Even though I've very happily settled in to using a Chromebook, I still like to watch this channel to keep up to date with the latest machines.

I type a lot (emails, google docs, slides) so for me the most important aspect from my chromebook is to actually SEE the largest possible portion my work on the screen - consider all the toolbars, bookmarkbar, ruler etc which reduce the actual, "netto" interface surface. So glad to hear your feedback. What are the biggest differences you encountered between your Macbook and the C434?? Looking forward to hearing your answer on this one 🙃🤠
I’m looking forward to hearing the response as a well. I’m accustomed to my 2019 (16 inch) MacBook Pro and I just opened my new 14 inch Asus Chromebook as well. It’s an adjustment after being a MacBook Pro user for over 10 years.

Do you have a video about the types of displays on Chromebooks and their pricing? I want brightness even if that drains the battery. I do not want the washed out colors and poor viewing angles. Thank you and happy Thanksgiving!
Last year I bought eight Acer spin 11 2 in 1 touch Chromebook and I'm happy with it. There was a list of the top 10 Chromebooks and my Chromebook was listed on there. I don't know about this year.
I think I could use a Chromebook cause I use Snapseed and kine master for editing photos and videos. But the most important for me are the Microsoft apps (word, PowerPoint, one note and excel), are those apps available on Chromebooks in the Google play store?
Given what you know, shoot from the hip, I've been using HP14 (11") for years now. Has trackpad issues that drive me crazy. I like a clacky keyboard; I'm a preacher so I write a lot. I need a webcam and appreciate decent speakers, and I DO feel like I want an HDMI slot, too. I like a lot of access points, including a speaker jack. Suggestions? I usually have many windows open at the same time, cross-referencing, etc. No gaming, I do watch videos in spare time. Mostly writing, reading, researching. Thanks. (I do have an older mechanical keyboard I can attach with a USB - using it at work now but it's coming home soon. Ditto with speakers - nice ones I can attach with a plug.
Thank you for your inside. I dont know how much work it take to make a web site like dpreview have for camera, but for chromebook. Some site have some filter, but a complete list could be usefull. Exemple: I need a flip chromebook whit back light keyboard. Bestbuy dont have that kind of filter choice. And they make mistake.
I have owned Cromebook in the past. I am thinking of getting one again now that they have improved over the years. My only complaint with Chromebook is the lower case letters on the key caps. I know, that sounds stupid or petty, but that's me. Because I never learned to touch type. I am a hunt-and-peck typist. And the lower case letters are not as easy to distinguish as upper case. No one else uses lower case keys, why Google?
My Acer CB3-532 is set to expire soon and Im so bummed because it has been a great computer. I don't want to use it if I open myself up to malware..... do you have any advice on how we can keep our older Chromebooks alive? PS I just bought an HP 11 inch, before I saw your video, it will be here in a few days, hoping I made the right choice (price was definitely the main factor as trying to understand the differences between them from descriptions was very confusing.) Thank you for your great insight!
I think there should be a sixth question. What about Google's Auto Update Policy? Should you buy a chromebook that Google won't update in a few years? Is that a good value?
This is a good review of the chromebook , the chromebook is easy to use, this is a great review. Only thing that I did not like was the many many versions of it. Jim
Great video, it is helping me get closer. I am that guy who isn’t going to do much more than the basics. I want something that is built solid, not laggy, has a HD 1080 screen, touch screen is a must, tablet maybe not, but a cool feature! Good track pad, keyboard Backlight, and strong WiFi connection is a must. I have RUclips Tv and might watch from the chromebook from time to time. So I sent the question in another video but I am having a hard time choosing between the pixel book go and the Asus C434. I see in this review you had them side by side. So is the size of the pixel book too small to watch videos or strainful on the eyes? I am looking to get at my local Best Buy, so does you or anyone know when is the best time to buy either to get a deal?
Do you have a flow chart or quiz for me to figure out which one is best for me after i decide answers from these questions? For example.. If I want or don't want a glass screen, then which ones fit that....
I would love to see a revised version now that 2 years have gone by with newer chromebooks newer features hardware/software. For me I would need something that has power for steam cause why not. Touch screen in the 13 14 inch range with good resolution. So long as all my streaming apps nteflix and co is downloadable from the gps then I'm good.
Ashitha Pathrose Anything with the highest RAM you can get. I'm like you and had a Chromebook with 4GB RAM. It was too slow for all my tabs so I'm upgrading to one with 8GB RAM.
I just don’t know wether to get the hp x2 or the Samsung Chromebook plus v2. I’m going to be video streaming like RUclips, email, google docs, google play store or games, and maybe draw for fun.
I feel like most people that do buy Chromebooks are those that look for cheap alternatives to a windows laptop, if that's the case then look for n4200, 4gb ram and 64gb of storage, screen size and resolution of your choice and you'll be ready to go with a good Chromebook. I believe the acer Chromebook 15 fits that, big screen, n4200, 4gb ram, 64gb storage, aluminum chassis, full jd screen and front facing speakers
I know I'm very late to this party, but I was looking to buy a Chromebook for less than $600 less than 14" - something that is fast, easy to use with at least 8-10h battery life and back-lit keyboard (hopefully good enough memory - because idc much for it). Could you tell me which one is best for me, pleaseee?
I need a Chromebook with a stylus. And found affordable one will be Samsung plus v2 or Samsung pro . But here in India it's not on sale. Is there anyway to buy it without spending too much money on shipping?
I really want to get a Chromebook but I need windows or able to use word documents not the Google docs. Anyone have any great options. I would love to have the new AI as well. Help!
This may sound stupid. Is there a chromebook that has a SIM card slot/tray so it can function like an Android smartphone. Make/receive calls and access the internet? Thanks
Im a designer and I use a $2,500 2018 macbook pro. I spend 98% of my time in google chrome. I even use Figma as a design tool which is better than sketch and illustrator and it runs 100% in a browser... :O
I've been considering a Chromebook, I work as a journalist and utilize email, writing software and very basic video editing software. I've got a budget of about $600 (Canadian) any suggestions? Just need something compact and can do basic stuff
I got a great Dell 14" 2 in 1, it's a great piece of equipment I got for $430. Problem is there are so many programs that aren't compatible with chrome OS it is getting frustrating. So I suggest anyone looking, think really hard about his first question. I will be buying a windows device soon.
Bill E Dee so I would be looking to use Facebook, Facebook messenger, gmail, yahoo mail, twitter, google docs, word, banking sites, RUclips tv, RUclips. Web browsing usually with google, no gaming or designing programs. Need to have a strong WiFi connection too. Would chromebook be a good choice in your opinion after hearing that?
Most comon people don't care about all those questions. The first point is the most important, I think: you can basically do all those common things in a browser. But then you need to show all those apps where they exist. My parents don't care what EMail app or writer or spread sheet it is - they just want to use these kind of apps for working. So, it would be nice if you could offer a web page (on chromeunboxed) with all those common apps that run in the chrome browser. I know some of them but just found them by accident or by you mentioning it. So go starting a "Chrome Apps Site" where all people without any computer knowledge can just click an app to start being productive.
I really want to give a chance to chrome OS, this week I'll be my test week using only the Chrome Web Browser. I work a lot with PDF files and a lot of spreadsheets. Actually I made a change from MS Excel to G Sheet and I really like it 😃
Yes, laptop, I don't care tools, screens important, medium range processing I want to play some games sometimes. What do you recommend? You forgot the most important question price range. What's the best affordable chrome book.
How do you like watching videos on it? Screen stay crisp all the time? Is there any lag when navigating through it? I really like it but darn price is stopping me current from buying it

Question can I leave my chromebook open all time or when not using it should I keep it closed
can i install andriod studio
The channel is growing fast
Thank you for your inside. I dont know how much work it take to make a web site like dpreview have for camera, but for chromebook. Some site have some filter, but a complete list could be usefull. Exemple: I need a flip chromebook whit back light keyboard. Bestbuy dont have that kind of filter choice. And they make mistake.
so we back in the mine, swinging our pickaxe from side to side! side side to side!
Never realized it till now
Learn to touch type. It will take you a mere month to get up to 75 words a minute.
Really good tips, thanks!
Lenovo C340-11 review incoming?
My Acer CB3-532 is set to expire soon and Im so bummed because it has been a great computer. I don't want to use it if I open myself up to malware..... do you have any advice on how we can keep our older Chromebooks alive? PS I just bought an HP 11 inch, before I saw your video, it will be here in a few days, hoping I made the right choice (price was definitely the main factor as trying to understand the differences between them from descriptions was very confusing.) Thank you for your great insight!
Malware not really an issue with expired chrome book. I used mine 5 years expired no problem.
Great advice and informative 🙏🏽
I think there should be a sixth question. What about Google's Auto Update Policy? Should you buy a chromebook that Google won't update in a few years? Is that a good value?
Now you can find about everything for Chromebooks. I installed Libre Office on my Duet using the beta Linux shell.
This is a good review of the chromebook , the chromebook is easy to use, this is a great review. Only thing that I did not like was the many many versions of it. Jim
Excellent purchase analysis
Can someone please tell if we can use anki app on Chromebook
What is a "Chromebox" and where can I get one?
can a chrome book be use in the profession of real estate?
I enjoy your videos very good on things about chromebook
Watching from my Pixelbook core i5
lol why
How do you like it? What are your favourite features that come with it? I'm curious 😃
I really like thr speed and concept of my Asus 423 but I hate the screen quality. Which chromebook will be better
Love this vid I got the Asus c302
My daughter wants a chrome book for Christmas to do RUclips videos. Could you recommend one?
Do you have a flow chart or quiz for me to figure out which one is best for me after i decide answers from these questions? For example.. If I want or don't want a glass screen, then which ones fit that....
I would love to see a revised version now that 2 years have gone by with newer chromebooks newer features hardware/software.
For me I would need something that has power for steam cause why not.
Touch screen in the 13 14 inch range with good resolution. So long as all my streaming apps nteflix and co is downloadable from the gps then I'm good.
Which Chromebook is best for me if all I am gonna do is open like 100 tabs open all the time?
Do a video of best detachable chromebook please
I know I'm very late to this party, but I was looking to buy a Chromebook for less than $600 less than 14" - something that is fast, easy to use with at least 8-10h battery life and back-lit keyboard (hopefully good enough memory - because idc much for it). Could you tell me which one is best for me, pleaseee?
I need a Chromebook with a stylus. And found affordable one will be Samsung plus v2 or Samsung pro . But here in India it's not on sale. Is there anyway to buy it without spending too much money on shipping?
ask yourself maybe there is a way of finding someone who will hand deliver it to you.
Hey, can you do a video on how to install lineageos 17 on phones?
Could you please review the Asus Chromebook C423NA or do a description for me?
I really want to get a Chromebook but I need windows or able to use word documents not the Google docs. Anyone have any great options. I would love to have the new AI as well. Help!
This may sound stupid. Is there a chromebook that has a SIM card slot/tray so it can function like an Android smartphone. Make/receive calls and access the internet? Thanks
Im a designer and I use a $2,500 2018 macbook pro. I spend 98% of my time in google chrome. I even use Figma as a design tool which is better than sketch and illustrator and it runs 100% in a browser... :O
Much improved composition overall.
Did someone have the Lenovo duet ? Did it's good for writing (keyboard) because I'm gonna write A LOT with it
I just got the Acer 314 Spin 2/1 8gb ram 128gb storage 6000 Intel Celeron processor. I'm happy with it.
I've been considering a Chromebook, I work as a journalist and utilize email, writing software and very basic video editing software. I've got a budget of about $600 (Canadian) any suggestions? Just need something compact and can do basic stuff
Hello and thank you very much from Russia
Is there like a quiz you can take that will tell you specifically which Chromebooks are a good match?
So go starting a "Chrome Apps Site" where all people without any computer knowledge can just click an app to start being productive.
need to wait a few more months since the manufacturers havnt made my perfect chromebook yet
Brilliant and understanable.
I still use a white up 14. It's still kicking.
Watching on my HP Chromebox.
Watching on my Pixelbook Go 64GB I picked up on Facebook Market Place for a good price.
How do you like watching videos on it? Screen stay crisp all the time? Is there any lag when navigating through it? I really like it but darn price is stopping me current from buying it
josh robinson It’s good and I didn’t pay the full price, so deals are out there.
Brah thank you ya I just have to look around, seem to not be having the any deals on them for Black Friday, weird. Or I just can’t find them
Brah and how do you like the M3 processor?
