What if CARTHAGE defeated ROME?

- EU4 mods are a plenty but this one is different - this one, we get to play as CARTHAGE! Forget EU4 Rome and EU4 Roman Empire, EU4 Carthage is the one you should be looking for. This is EU4 Post Finem, where we answer the question of what if Carthage won the Punic Wars? In my opinion, this is the greatest alternate timeline of all time. EU4 Alternate History doesn't get better than this.

Would be an interesting idea to make a video about East vs West: A Hearts of Iron Game (cancelled Paradox Cold War that thankfully was leaked online and you can actually play it). You can find in on Wayback Machine details EastvsWest (and download it for free). It's sad that so few people knew about this game and even fewer actually played it.
Love your videos!💚
Chewbert really letting laith live out his dreams
I’ve never felt so alive
That Chewy guy does seem pretty cool ngl
Thanks for covering the mod, broski, I appreciate it a lot! Glad to see you ripping it up and reclaiming Carthaginian glory!
THIS IS THE GUY! SUBSCRIBE TO HIM!
I ❤ Chewbert
@@TheSocialStreamers
Just release the mod already!
Can you revive rome with all of its culture and religion in your mod ?
33:29 The library of Alexandria wasn't burnt by Christians, they destroyed what was left of it, as the library was mostly destroyed due to negligence, the Christians burned or destroyed what was known as the Serapeum, which was not the Library we know of.
The absolute insane timing of releasing this the day before Oversimplified's Punic Wars 2: Electric Boogaloo dropped can not be overstated
That's what I thought
I think it's planned trust.
Let’s say, hypothetically speaking, that Carthage is the greatest empire of all time. Then, this would mean that Laith is the true successor to Carthage as a Tunisian, and should create a Mediterranean empire
I meaaan modern tunisians really have very little genetic relation to the phoenicians so i mean not really lol lebanon is ironically the closest to carthage as it’s almost entirely phoenician
ALL HAIL LAITH RULER OF CARTHAGE KING OF THE MONEY PILE!
@@DeezNuts-ju1rj lol
It's a simple question, doctor. Would you, or would you not, create a Mediterranean empire based in Tunisia?
"What's up everyone. It's the Laith-Nayshun!"
The only complaint I have about the mod is the start date. Ain't no way everything in the world would change so little. I do understand it cuts the amount of work tremendously, since all techs, institutions, etc get to keep their names.
I agree. The world looks like it's had nothing happened for almost 2,000 years. No migrations and no kingdoms have been formed.
I feel like the timeline should have been set back a thousand years or so
Laith talking about how Carthage using the fact they owned land in the levant 2,000 years ago being tenuous at best is hilariously relevant.
I figured he might be insinuating to that but not trying to be specific enough to have it go against him if that makes sense
Formalise seperation of powers is a vanilla decision for any nation with a parliament. That's not an addition of Chewy's.
4:56 - uh, my guy, that’s a base game decision for having a parliament and a dip rep advisor lmao.
What a truly terrible timeline, the baby sacrifices did continue 😔
Exactly... carthage was pure evil
@@Tom-oj7si you mean based right?
I want to play as Gaul so badly, forge a true Celtic empire.
Not hating on the mod at all, it looks really well made and fun, but the plausibility of this alt-historical setup is thinner than whatever fabric they're transporting up the African silk road.
(Not the Carthage winning part, thats actually reasonably plausible, moreso the idea that in ~1600 years so little about the geopolitics of the Mediterranean would have changed from antiquity. Also, the changes that are portrayed, such as the Suebi seizing western Iberia while at the same time a strong and unified Gaul would have stood directly in the path they would have had to travel to get there, don't really pass the sniff test for me.
Yeah, it would’ve been more interesting if we had some migratory Germanic successor states in North Africa, Iberia, and Italy. Also no Avars/Magyars and no Balkan Slavs/Germans is super unrealistic and lame. This mod would be infinitely better if every region had some sort of struggle between the old powers and new upstarts, which some would be from migratory groups and others from Christians or Muslims that have taken root. Tbh the most unrealistic aspect is the religions.
@@osmaniesquijarosa4308that is the reason i like the mod
I mean, Gaul is very clearly not unified if you actually look at their mechanics. Their main mechanic is centralization, so the gameplay demonstrates the decentralized nature of the tribes.
@@Mattis06 what? The old religions? That’s fine, I can like it for that as well, but the fact it’s based in 1444 feels super uncanny and wrong to me.
If only Carthage hadn't fallen to Namibia
Separation of Powers is vanilla, by the way ;)
Praise Tanit and Baal Hammon, this mod looks amazing! I'm really excited to play this when it releases.
Praise Tanit indeed!
did the mongol invasions just not happen in this world?
They heard Carthage survived and got scared
He should've named Gibraltar "Calpe".
why is the start date 1444? that seems wrong for this senario
Ease of making the mod mostly, changing every tech and institution and so on is a pita
Chewbert seriously made Laiths wet dream? He can now finally go after it 😄. Mod looks cool, hope you continue playing this one.
To your enioyment here are some classic laith quotes:
"Now we can hit them with our cogs"
"Oh, the library didnt burn down this time?"
"Stay in your desert! Dont get close to my civilization!"
"Stay in your desert! Don't get close to my civilisation!" was just the policy of the Neo-Assyrians.
Please continue this campaign, this has been one of the most interesting videos I’ve ever seen on the laith channel
Laith, then an Oversimplified video on the Punic Wars? Christmas came a lot earlier this year
this needs a pt2 so badly
Hannibal in 204BC upon hearing that the Romans had landed in North Africa: 43:32
This dropping almost the same time as Oversimplified dropping the Second Punic War video is absolutely perfect
And Oversimplified released videos on 2nd Punic Wars. Th timing.
The borders don’t make sense for the date, hope he’s changed the numbers to be more believable
There's no way Oversimplified's Punnic War 2 video comes out the NEXT day. What do you know that we don't, Laith?
To be fair this isn’t the first video laith has made about Carthage
The fact that I saw this while watching oversimplified new Punic war videos😭
I would really like to see more mod runs at least for EU4 and CK3, both this vid and the ones about Anbennar and ck3 Belisarius were great
"What if Carthage hadn't crippled Hannibal at every opportunity?"
2 EU4 Carthage videos in one day, the other from Ludi
The insane difference between your video opening and ludi's video opening is hilarious
Got to say, with your video on Carthage, and LordLamberts video on that other country that I cant remember the name of. But has OP Ideas I am sooo going to download this.
Wait holdon were you sponsored by Oversimplified? Lol the timing is perfect lol
I am once again requesting that Laith play the Odd Empires mod in EU4
I can tell this version is a little while back because it still has the old HRE screen. Anyway the mod looks fire, just one more day to wait then I can play it all weekend.
the starting line of the video is a little funny if you remember that total population of the entire Carthaginian empire and Rome put together was probably half of the current population of Tunis
as in a single city has more people today than both of those countries had at the time
I am so excited for this mod to come out
we need to make Ludi (Rome) vs Laith (Carthage) happen
Here after the oversimplified video
Ermergerd this looks fun!
I litteraly had this thought last night
Day 184 of asking for an Oranje Free State Playthrough of Vicky 3...It's surprising how long it's been now in retrospect.
Have you ever thought of doing a forming Slavia stream/video in CK3?
Oversimplified viewers after finishing the vids:
I literally once wrote a whole setup and lore for a mod like this for tw Rome 2 but i couldnt find anyone to actually program the thing.
Channeling your inner Punixc
That united GAUL seems scary
Part two! Part two! Part two!
Carthage had it coming.
Even if they defeated Rome, they'd still be the first to lose to Namibia o.O
Finally Laith, more Imperator.. GIVE US MORE IMPERATOR!
I must say that this looks like a really interesting alt-history mod which I'll definitely try out, but I have just one question: Why the Hell is Bohemia called "Moria"?!
This is "what if Carthage won" of course it's gonna be weird
4:50 Erm! that is a base-game decision
he doesn't know xd
Will it be on paradox mods I dont own eu4 on steam
Nice wideo.
BTW WHEN CURSED ARABIA?
Laith going full sssniperwolf in that opening
i liked this but i am a little on edge about sharing information lol
Laith v.s. Ludi (Carthage vs Rome) when?
Yes
I think all eu4 youtubers have some mental connection (im about this and last ludi video)
Chewbert probably got paid by Laith to make this mod
Let's go Carthage.
I'm quite worried for your mental health Laith, you're drifting into Faragian nationalism
You can play as Salerno? My homecity?? I have to download it
i started as ardabil opm formed persia then eranshahr... had to console command in zoroatrianism cos i dont have any dlcs after emperor and its normally on a mission i think.. now i have yemen and syria as vassals... thought id spread the love before america gets too strong! lol
When stream tho ?
Why not play Imperator Rome?
average rome fan vs average carthage enjoyer.
TW Rome 2 Carthage campaign when.
Im hoppin on sparta immediately when mod drops (gonna kick some macedonian booty)
Did He forgot raiding?
First thing I did in this mod was burn carthage and restore the republic 😂 I also rebuilt the City as "New Rome" and made it Roman culture haha
Imperator Rome?
CARTHAGE WORLD CONQUEST GO
Unjust? Woe to the vanquished more like it, the Romans learned that the hard way.
Carthago Delenda est
Based
My favorite facts about the Punic Wars are the sheer amount of Romans that were killed, only for yet another Legion (or seven) to show up and continue the fight as if 50,000 soldiers hadn't just died the week before
@@ChrisVillagomezdoes defeat really matter if u refuse to surrender and the enemy ends up worse than u?
@@Boretheory Exactly. Personally, I would have cut my losses after the first couple of Legions died and were almost immediately replaced, if they still sent more it was just proof that Carthage was almost completely outmatched in terms of numbers. Like Troy or Thermopylae, it would only be a matter of time until the Romans overran Carthage
@@ChrisVillagomez Rome almost collapsed after those defeats, they had almost no reserve left and had to rely on their remaining allies and mercenaries to provide more soldiers. So basically Rome fought the middle part of the Second Punic War with 0 manpower reserve
Day 159 of asking for you to play Victoria 2 as cuba and become Fidel Castro
I guess my version of this would be making Poland rise above it's competitors to become an Eastern European Powerhouse? Sorry if this seems entirely disconnected from anything, it's just that when you run out of ideas on how to tell someone to play a Fire Emblem game, it's really easy to fall back on yourself. Speaking of which, day 157. Play game.
This Chewy guy seems too... perfect... You sure he ain't Moroccan or somethin...?
Imperator is dead once more
yay
Carthage being an end node with essentially no access to european trade is heinous design. either carthage shouldnt be an end node or italian trade should feed into carthage. it feels so bad to be a maritime trading nation where your natural expansion routes all do nothing for your trade.
"One of the biggest atrocities in history" is a boooooooooooooooooold statement.
Saddest ending luckily not the real ending :) Roma Invicta
Based and Laith pilled
Two veiws seven likes, amazing
Tunisian Pride moment
Play Norway
2:11
should have played rome to right the timeline.
Did you know that the religion of Carthage was the old Jewish/Canaanite religion, but the belief in 1 god spread among Southern Levantine people (Judaism)
4:06 - Albanians 13th lost tribe of Israel! SHQIPERIA SHQIPERIA
The best timeline when Carthage won and the English didn't invade Ireland
Carthago delenda est.
Is there a lore reason for Albania being Jewish, or is it just for funsies? Either way, it looks interesting.
Not even 30 minutes and 1.5k views
Glory to Carthage
It costs 2000?
Simple, Get it from Iberia!
