People who say Maynard is not religious are not reading between the lines. He's not Christian or anything specific. But he clearly believes in the ultimate spirit. This song balances religion and evolution and how mankind has failed on both paths.
It's really great that the first song you listened to was "Sober" because that was their first commercial success that made it on FM rotation in 1993. It was the introduction to Tool for most people including myself. Everyone cognisant of musical genius back then was astonished by Maynard's voice followed soon after by the astonishment of watched them rocket past all competition on the charts. We all remember running out to buy the year old album "Opiate." We all remember waiting impatiently for Aenima to drop three years later along with every disc jockey of worth. Everyone remembers the FM buzz post-release about how pop music was rotting on the vine and all "hollywood hippy" metal bands that couldn't evolve to the challenge would become extinct. Everyone remembers waiting for "Lateralus" to drop just before 911 and listening to "the Grudge," "Schism" and "Reflection" to calm us down as our world was coming apart at the seems. Everyone remembers the endless five year wait for 10.000 days and the euphoric shock of disbelief after hearing "Right in two." Most recently, Tool fans struggled to comprehend life through the thirteen year gap that just ended this year with "Fear Inoculum." Which was almost worth the wait seeing all the angry millennials when Fear Inoculum knocked Taylor Swift out of first place on the US Billboard 200 chart on it's opening week.

Next up, either one of these, PLEASE PUSHIT (SALIVAL LIVE) WINGS FOR MARIE 1&2 DISPOSITION/REFLECTION/TRIAD
The instrumental interlude and the second bridge (8:26 to 11:35) is like a musical history of human evolution -from primitive primates to industrial war machines- compressed in just 3 minutes.
I'm approaching 60 and started listening to Zeppelin and Sabbath from 14 and so began a love of rock but 3 years ago thanks to you tube I discovered Tools version of No Quarter and was blown away.I now have all thier albums and they bring out emotions in me like no other band. There really is something special even spiritual about this band
Guys you should've listened to intension (the song leading up to right in two) before this, it's very tribal and minimalistic, it tells the story of of evolution through the song not only through the lyrics but also through the music itself. As the first half is very tribal and woody sounding but the second half very metallic and industrial (pay attention to the drums throughout the song), portraying the transition from cavemen to the industrial revolution, then leading into right in two where it gets more filodophical
I enjoy watching you guys react to these videos. It’s genuine in all aspects. I appreciate that you two are intelligent in your ability to accept the journey and open your mind to all facets of interpretation. Fellow travelers.
12:10 Watching you absorb the anxiety and beauty of this song and forget youtubes instant reaction to lighting a cigarette was amazing. Profound emotional response to a great piece of art summarised in that simple drag and release.

Another band from that era that can take you on “trips” is Radiohead. Start with the album “OK Computer” and start with the first track. It was the soundtrack to my senior year of high school. Also,.. go old school Tool.. “Opiate” of off the Opiate album. Early Tool is just as awesome, and you can hear their youth.

I always picture a couple angels observing humanity and wondering what the hell god was thinking when he gave humans free will and to kill each other so proficiently
I hope you two know how much you make others smile, for real...Hollywood your enthusiasm and excitement coupled with Smoke's chill, introspective vibe is gold
This is a Tool song where its meaning is unmistakable, and the feels are otherworldly and transcendent. One of my absolute favorites. Everyone deserves to hear this one, would do the world some good. Next up, either one of these, PLEASE
PUSHIT (SALIVAL LIVE)
WINGS FOR MARIE 1&2
DISPOSITION/REFLECTION/TRIAD
Great job fella’s. I always recommend lyric vids with tool, cause they have so much going on in each song, you need time to go back a few times, lol
I will keep saying this every Tool Tuesday until you play it, but you really need to listen to Disposition/Reflection/Triad. Epic piece of audio DMT.
Another tool Tuesday!one of my favorite days can’t wait what next Tuesday song will be.
Once a week really isn’t enough guys. Can we step it up? Keep up the great work.
LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks for this!
The instrumental interlude and the second bridge (8:26 to 11:35) is like a musical history of human evolution -from primitive primates to industrial war machines- compressed in just 3 minutes.
It's called a tabla
This is my favorite tool song, I had a literal out of body experience when I first listened to this.
Lol! Love how smokey did a mash up of biblical stories, little combo of Abraham and Isaac and King Solomon hahaha
I enjoy watching you guys react to these videos. It’s genuine in all aspects. I appreciate that you two are intelligent in your ability to accept the journey and open your mind to all facets of interpretation. Fellow travelers.
You guys should react to "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" by Iron Maiden, that would be awesome
That would be awesome. And what a Journey it is. 🍸 🚬 😁 I'M Ready
12:10 Watching you absorb the anxiety and beauty of this song and forget youtubes instant reaction to lighting a cigarette was amazing. Profound emotional response to a great piece of art summarised in that simple drag and release.
Hooray! This is one I've wanted to see since I found you guys. Can't wait to see what you think.
Hell yeah bro thats awesome....were so excited for this one
You kids are awesome!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us, keep in mind, your journey JUST STARTED!! RESPECT TO THE TRASH TALKERS 🤟
no sir you are awesome. You have earned the title of Head Spokesman Of The Trash Talk Tribe
Trash Talkers 😎😃 honored, thank you 🙏, when you cats reach 20k subs, in a few hours, would you consider 1 bonus TOOL THURSDAY 🤔🤔 Appreciation to AWESOME TOOL ARMY? Just a thought
@@-TRIAD- hmmmmmm....lets just hope we can get there first
Another band from that era that can take you on “trips” is Radiohead. Start with the album “OK Computer” and start with the first track. It was the soundtrack to my senior year of high school. Also,.. go old school Tool.. “Opiate” of off the Opiate album. Early Tool is just as awesome, and you can hear their youth.
For me personally and in no particular order . . . Radiohead, Zep, Floyd, Sabbath, Deftones, HIM
It's really cool how you both have been on a total Tool journey and are beginning to see with your third eyes. You should tap into the UNDERTOW album. In particular the song "Undertow"; or "Intolerance"; or "4 degrees"; or "Crawl Away"; or "Swamp Song."
People don’t do enough undertow. You’ll see people react to prison sex and sober but other than that I think the album is overlooked by reaction channels
4 degrees is fuuuuuucking amazing.
In case you're actually considering sitting with Aya, do your research. Do the recommended preparations. Humble yourself and treat it with reverance. Be ready to confront all your shit you've never been willing to face before. Relax. Breath. Be thankful. P.S. I was thinking about Aya right as yall mentioned it
I love that that bible verse came to you like that I'm not religious but that shit was freaky so much so that I've seen about 30 of your guys videos over the past several months and this video will be my first like comment and subscribe
Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait. Epic shit!
Neither can we
That's one of my favorite songs was great to see your reactions and love for it!
Well, this song is basically a diss towards the whole of mankind.
Yet, there is no way you'll be mad about it since it's so beautiful.

Tool is on such a different level it's mind blowing.
My man had such an experience he had to have a cigarette 😂
Awesome reaction fam!!
This song has special meaning with these riots happening everywhere. "Can't divide it all right in two...."
it’s cut and divide it all right in two
It's a timeless song.
It describes the human condition and its need to compete with other species for ressources
I see more corollary politically to the pot with today's politics. Who are you to wave your finger.
Kangaroo courts, innocents hanged with guilty, glass houses, pots and kettles, eyeballs deep in bs, lawyers and liars bein no different etc.
From Wikipedia: Inspired by Bill Murray's performance in the 1981 comedy film , Keenan joined the United States Army, with the intention of having the G.I. Bill fund his dream of attending art school. By this point, he had lived in Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas. He initially served in the Army as a forward observer before studying at West Point Prep School from 1983 to 1984.
