There's more than a few drug references in these tracks - first off, "blame Hoffmann" (the secondary title to Lost Keys) refers to the man who discovered the LSD molecule. Then there's "X, yogi DMT and a box of Krispy Kremes" during the opening ramble on Rosetta, later followed by "Dead Head chemistry, blotter got right on top of me" (Grateful Dead fans, legendary for psychedelics, plus reference to blotter tabs), then later "see, The Dead ain't touring" - another GD reference, maybe our tripper trying to claim to the doctor that he's sober now or even that he hadn't taken anything (forgetting that he already admitted to it earlier)
The word that comes to mind is immersive. Their albums are one big piece of art. Listening to it all together gives you the whole experience. I know we can't always sit down and listen to it all but it's definitely worth it to set aside the time to do it at least a few times. Full album Fridays are coming. Fun to see your minds blown.
Reaction videos are so much fun because I get to watch someone else experience a song for the first time that I have heard for YEARS, and it always gives me goosebumps to see others really enjoy the song they're reacting to. And it helps me find the same happiness again I felt when I first heard the same song. I love seeing the rap reactors listening to rock, rock reactors listen to rap, etc. Atta boys! Keep up the good work.
Lost Keys is the character from Rosetta Stoned talking with the doctor. At the end you hear the doctor say tell me everything. To start Rosette Stoned you hear him start the story of the trip, which is the song. He got abducted by aliens. Thats why the leader thing.

Fun facts about rosetta stoned: (Blame hoffman): Albert hoffman is the man that synthesized LSD “And can anyone tell me why yall sound like peanuts parents?” Is a reference to not being able to understand sober people when tripping, as we were never able to understand peanuts parents “It was so real, like that time dave floated away” is a nod to 2001: a space odyssey The percussion breakdown (i could be wrong on specifics but i know its something ridiculous), danny is playing swiss triplets in 7 with both hands, keeping time with justins bass in 5 with one foot, and keeping time with adams guitar in 4 with the other. Feel free to add any that i missed!
Dude I'm so happy for you guys. Only wish i could hear it for the first time again. You have to watch it with lyrics. I love how much you guys truly appreciate this music to it's fullest. You guys nailed it. This song is a trip of its own, and that's how brilliant the piece is, that you can look at it from so many angles and they're all correct.
I respect that y'all know about what you are listening, you take time to learn about new artists, and you look for characteristics and sounds of artists you already know. If more people did things this way reaction videos would be just be better as a whole. Keep up the good work guys
One of the things that I really feel with this song, is that it musically makes you feel the frustration of the character. I can feel the frustration with the instruments, the blurriness and speed of his voice, coinciding with the character being so close to the answer/meaning of whatever, so close, and yet he forgot to write it down. Kinda tongue in cheek, but you can still feel it. This is another song of theirs that Maynard's voice really feels more like an instrument, an equal portion of the song to the drums, guitar, and bass. I love this song, I was waiting for this. Glad you dug it!
Not for nothing else, but this one, Right in Two, and a couple others, make for interesting "stories"...I feel the song not only sounds amazing, but has an interesting "story" of the song. 🤷♂️
I skipped a few weeks to let the list shrink a little. Here's what's left of the Book of Tool. This list is only what's left of songs from the albums. Live performances, music videos and other content is not included. Viva la Tool Tuesday. Opiate EP: Sweat Opiate EP: Part of Me Opiate EP: Cold and Ugly (live) Opiate EP: Jerk-Off (live) Undertow: Undertow Salival: You Lied (Peach cover; live) Salival: Maynard's Dick Lateralus: Parabol - Parabola Lateralus: Disposition - Reflection - Triad (instrumental) 10,000 Days: Intension [Play it backwards for an important hidden message] [These are alternate versions of songs, most of which they've already heard] Undertow: Sober Salival: Third Eye (live) Salival: Part of Me (live) [Yeah it's live, but I hear very little difference between this and the Opiate version] Fear Inoculum: Pneuma Fear Inoculum: Descending All the albums have 1 to 3 minute interludes and other weird stuff, but there's only 4 of them left that are really worth mentioning. All of this can wait for the full album reactions. Undertow: Disgustipated [Song stops at 6:44] [A poem by Bill the landlord starts at 13:48] [It was track 69 on the CD] [This song doesn't quite fit with the theme of the album] [Or does it?!?] (-_-) Ænima: Message to Harry Manback [An Italian guy left a death threat on Keenan's answering machine. So they put it on the album] Salival: Merkaba (live) [It's 9 minutes of the kind of weird sounds that Tool makes, but taken one step further and with no regard for song structure] [It's pretty far-out there] Fear Inoculum: Chocolate Chip Trip [Danny Carey goes off.. into modular synth land]

I had to pause and go read the Wikipedia page for the Rosetta Stone. I also never looked it up and knew it was some old ass stone. Now I get it. I'm just lazy sometimes but I shouldn't be. It took me 1 min to understand the basic idea of it and how people use the term as well. Anyways, Wikipedia made it so I had to know what other shit meant like decree. I'm good now. I got a good idea now. Definitely seems like it was the biggest deal when it was found. To be able to finally start understanding Ancient Egyptian and deciphering it is definitely something huge which lead to other findings.

I can't wait, 6pm is too far away!!! Literally listening to this repeat all day at work to get me by!
😂... same here! Let’s Go!
I experienced an lsd flashback during Tool concert last summer though I was completely sober at the moment.
My fucking God!!!! Finally!!!! The most requested songs for them ever!!!!! Tonight I'm staying awake until 00:00 which is the premiere time here in Spain!!!!!!
Saw today's pick and instantly said out loud "oh lort they ain't reeeaaddyyy!!" LOL. Brought joy to my night as always fellas. Definitely gotta get lyrics up for good a good chuckle.
Yes my dudes!!! Thank you! And don't forget your pen👽🖊
Aaaaaawh yeah! I’ve been waiting for this reaction for months!
Ohh god, i think it's to soon for this one but i really hope you enjoy it. I can't wait for Parabol/Parabola. TOOL army present!!!
I will be leaving work early today to watch this special moment with you! 🤘 thank you for listening to your fans, you're gonna love this one!
Shout out to both of you, guys...you managed to listen to two songs that are connected as one great piece of art.
Cheers from Argentina! Long live Tool!
Fun facts about rosetta stoned:
(Blame hoffman): Albert hoffman is the man that synthesized LSD
“And can anyone tell me why yall sound like peanuts parents?” Is a reference to not being able to understand sober people when tripping, as we were never able to understand peanuts parents
“It was so real, like that time dave floated away” is a nod to 2001: a space odyssey
The percussion breakdown (i could be wrong on specifics but i know its something ridiculous), danny is playing swiss triplets in 7 with both hands, keeping time with justins bass in 5 with one foot, and keeping time with adams guitar in 4 with the other.
Feel free to add any that i missed!
This band is so fucking amazing. Every song is better than the previous, and every song is better the next time u listen, every time. Masterpiece
rolling one up while patiently awaiting the start of this one!
Now you see why you needed to wait for this. Hearing that first or second would’ve completely blown your minds. You wouldn’t’ve been prepared for it
21:10 my bro on my right is "SPIRAL OUT" af!
I got a craving for some orange slices now.
You guys are legit!
Side note! The doctors were Australian. He was tripping near Area 51 USA. Let that sink in :)
Love the full on tool merch.... welcome to the army! This is a good one.
I was at the first show when this Album released; Coachella, Ca. I will never, ever forget the energy in that place when Tool came on.
MUST run it back w/lyrics trust me it's a completely different experience🤘
I respect that y'all know about what you are listening, you take time to learn about new artists, and you look for characteristics and sounds of artists you already know. If more people did things this way reaction videos would be just be better as a whole. Keep up the good work guys
YESSSSS!!!! I'm overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
And the time has come. Best trip in music right here. Brace yourselves ✌🏼 👁
Opiate EP: Sweat
Opiate EP: Part of Me
Opiate EP: Cold and Ugly (live)
Opiate EP: Jerk-Off (live)
Undertow: Undertow
Salival: You Lied (Peach cover; live)
Salival: Maynard's Dick
Lateralus: Parabol - Parabola
Lateralus: Disposition - Reflection - Triad (instrumental)
10,000 Days: Intension [Play it backwards for an important hidden message]
[These are alternate versions of songs, most of which they've already heard]
Undertow: Sober
Salival: Third Eye (live)
Salival: Part of Me (live) [Yeah it's live, but I hear very little difference between this and the Opiate version]
Fear Inoculum: Pneuma
Fear Inoculum: Descending
All the albums have 1 to 3 minute interludes and other weird stuff, but there's only 4 of them left that are really worth mentioning. All of this can wait for the full album reactions.
Undertow: Disgustipated [Song stops at 6:44] [A poem by Bill the landlord starts at 13:48] [It was track 69 on the CD] [This song doesn't quite fit with the theme of the album] [Or does it?!?] (-_-)
Ænima: Message to Harry Manback [An Italian guy left a death threat on Keenan's answering machine. So they put it on the album]
Salival: Merkaba (live) [It's 9 minutes of the kind of weird sounds that Tool makes, but taken one step further and with no regard for song structure] [It's pretty far-out there]
Fear Inoculum: Chocolate Chip Trip [Danny Carey goes off.. into modular synth land]
Y’all reacting to this is how everyone feels when they close their eyes and just LISTEN
Watching these first time reactions is gold because it feels like I am listening for the first time again and it is very satisfying.
YOU FINALLY DID IT
IT’S LIKE CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER
This song is actually about Bill Manspeaker... Lead singer of Green Jelly... He came into rehearsal and rambled about seeing aliens in the desert... I've spoken to Bill about this...👽
YES just... yes 💜
It's good time to bring my own fibonacci sequence to this party
Love watching people listen to these Tool songs for the first time. And discussing the song after. Love this track and spiral out!
19:09 my dude on the left is abt to tap out! 👽
So glad you finally got around to this one. This is peak Tool for me.
Yessssss! Finally. Lol. Great song. Stressed me out first time I heard it but quickly really loved it.
Love the praying hands..."is that him screaming??"
That was a good reaction video. Hopefully you added this to your playlist. One of my favorites....👍😎👍
Ok guys here is the deal. This song was inspired by my friend Bill Manspeaker singer for GREEN JELLO or jelly now. He told a story to Danny about being abducted by aliens. i can put you in touch with him he likes telling stories lol i am pretty sure he would video chat with you. Oh, and i am the Dave that floated away.
tool/ Maynard wrote the greatest piss take in history with this song. The song is musically amazing, and the lyrics with known context are hilarious
Awesome 😎
@@rastomasstanford7708 If you havent already...go watch the Bill interview i set the guys up with . you will like it im sure!
Sure thing, buddy
If you're really the Dave that floated away you are a God damn legend
HOLY TRINITY NEEDS TO BE NEXT
Ooooh! This is gonna be a good one.
You're going to want to have the lyrics to hand for this.
Prepare to get your mind blown way more than usual ;-)
There are So Many Lines in Rosetta Stoned that are So F#@ing Hilarious as Well as Deep Thinking whn it Comes to Writting Lyrics Like for Instance "Blotter got on Top of Me got me Seeing E Mother F#@ing T" or Maybe "after Calming me Down wth Some Orange Slices & Fetal Spooning" it's a True Work of Art...!!!...💯🤯💥💫😁 After All No Band Does it Like "Tool" Nobody... Thanks
This one is really one of my top three after nearly thirty years listening. I thought you guys did this one but finally you turned another corner with Tool. Love it, yes.
Morning H6, Smoke. You are gonna lose your shit on this one! As an early scribe, I thank you. Im grateful we've met.✌
Likewise, were gonna set up a meet up on of these days
@@Hollywood6IX we will triumph! 🤘
@@Hollywood6IX You gotta add Lipan Conjuring to these tracks, it is a trilogy! Lipan Conjuring is the beggining of the trip.

Its strange...for years I never cared for this song...then one day discovered its brilliance. The entire album is brilliant
Same
Same and I'm pretty sure I know why...Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned DEMANDS your full attention, don't give it and you don't 'get it'! It's now one of my favorites, incredible composition start to finish!
Yes I’m so glad they did lipan conjuring before it. I was disappointed when I didn’t see it in the title. Lol it just seems right to start the track off
I always thought this track was like Tool's version of Bohemian Rhapsody, just really a journey from start to finish
13:03 my exact reaction first listening to this song
Fuck ya, Hollywood felt it building at 19:30. Best part of the song, gives me chills when Maynard screams in like that
Seriously thought you'd be leaving these until last, but so glad you didn't.
Disposition, Reflection, Triad should be last
I was hoping they would too.
I’ve been waiting for you guys to check this one out! Enjoy your mind being blown 😎
Second ever Tool song that I have ever heard those years ago. This one had me hooked on them. Still Toolhead.
Love listening to this one over again on my way home from work. Complexity is second to none …well said! Spiral Out!! 👽🤘😵💫
I still after 15 years hear something incredible when I listen to this. This and many other tool songs are flat out master pieces.
“You hear ppl talking?”
“Yeah I heard them the whole time”
.........
Yaassssssz!!! Been requesting, waiting on this for the longest.
You guys should so do entire album reactions. The way these albums ebb and flow from track to track is part of the delivery. They have been very pro listening to these songs in order in the past, and there's good reason for this. I'd definitely watch that!
Finally! I was waiting for this specific one!
Fellas, you're enjoyable. From the corny opening Q/A with Smoke Dog, to your actual reactions. Keep it up boys.
This has to be one of my favorite songs from TooL. I remember years ago when I first heard tool I was like these guys blow me away with their musical abilities. Vocals, guitar, drums, the bass, etc. Tool is the band that got me into this style of music. TooL is a legend of a band. I'm glad to hear Maynard is doing better.
I'm so happy to see you listening to Tool! It's like i discovered this great band for the first time.. again! 🤟🤜🤛
Saw this coming!! Should be awesome. And we'll finally get some different requests lol.
This song is the ultimate adventure. This is up there with my favorites by Tool
You're guy's reactions are the best! Thanx man!!
Every Tool Tuesday that passes brings me closer to the Tool tuesday that you’ll finally react to Parabol/Parabola
