the build up and then that "overwhelmed as one would be" section is prob my fav bit in any tool song. one of their greatest choruses surely.
this and the Eulogy outro is at the top imo
@@993kmI love the dark, thick sarcasm Maynard gives us in those songs. I think he's playing up how he really feels, and it makes my penis erect.
Yeah. Unbelievable power in that transition.
Uncle Martin is referring to an 'alien-stranded-on-earth' character from an old 60s TV show, "My Favorite Martian".
And “bob, help me” refers to bob lazar and Dave referencing to 2001 space odyssey
Also "Bob" of the Church of the Subgenius
I love that behind the humour and absurdity theres a really powerful message about unfulfilled potential and not living up to expectations.
Yeah its both very humorous and quite emotional simultaneously.
Here's the full journey from the LP.
Lipan Conjuring - Getting stoned.
Lost Keys -- Coming down, in the hospital.
Rosetta Stoned - Sharing the experience.
Totally relatable w/out DMT, if you've ever woke from the best dream ever and forgot everything. I forgot my pen! 😆
Shit the bed again...
💯
There’s enough catchy guitar riffs in this one song to make a whole albums worth of songs
A lot of riffs in this song are already on other tool albums 😂
@@LeeB-l6y
Maybe note wise yes, but the chord progression and syncopations are quite different, plus there a a couple totally unique ones for sure
@@Crite_Mike tool reuses riffs more than ratm.
@@LeeB-l6y a claim that definitely needs to be backed up by some track names and respective timestamps 👀
@@Crite_Mike you need "time stamps?"
Adam: "hey guys I've got this great idea for the end of the song. Justin/Danny why don't you get locked into a solid groove and I'll just hit a D rhythmically, likely just quarter notes, maybe dotted, not sure yet, and then you guys can maybe start to accent with me, or as a counterpoint, what do you think? "
Also if you need someone to show you how they've been repeating ideas for their riffs, back since opiate and flood you're in massive denial. What's that song everyone loves? Pneuma?
Justin: "I'm going to take the bridge melody from schism and just make a whole song out of it, cool?"
I'm not going to tag every other song in their catalogue. I'm not trying to change your mind either. It's not necessary. It just is how it is 😂
Shame you all didn't get the whole experience! The story starts with the song Lipan Conjuring, transitions to Lost Keys/Blame Hoffman and ends with Rosetta Stoned. It's quite difficult to get much context without the 1st two chapters. On your own time if nothing else, do yourself a favor and listen to the 3 songs together, things will make a lot more sense and it'll certainly be an even better experience!
THIS THOROUGHLY HURT MY SOUL
I wonder if he's talking about bob lazar....in the lyrics when Maynard sais...BOb help me....please....
Look into the name bob lazar....in the subject of aliens!
@@anthonyatherton7966 Oh yeah I'm very familiar with him. You very well may be right, never considered it but it sure seems to fit!
Justin's bass work here is beyond good!! Oh, and Maynard does all the vocals, always! 👍
Couldn't agree more!
This song is absolutely brilliant on every level 😂🔥🤘🏻
💯
The orange slices and fetal spooning always gets me.
This song should get the Academy Award for cinematography. Between narration and the instruments, they create such a landscape... My favorite Tool song.
For some musicians outhere.. this is our favorite Tool song 👌🤟😢
Second this bigly
Of note, he gets less and less jacked up as the song goes along, makes more and more sense, as the trip wears off. The music also gets more cohesive.
The intro track "Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)" sets the scene, he has been brought into a hospital completely mute and doesn't know his own name, peaking on his trip. Albert Hofmann discovered and isolated LSD ("deadhead chemistry"). At the end of the intro track the doctor says "Tell me everything..." and then it smoothly continues into this track, where he definitely dumps "everything".
"Shit the bed" is used for both meanings, the one by the forgotten pen reference means "utterly failed" while the others may or may not be literal. Sometimes DMT leads to involuntary evacuations however LSD is not associated with that side effect. DMT is also associated with dropping into other realities that are "so real" and usually have beings ("machine elves") that deliver messages, more so than LSD. So he could be on both.
It's also possible that the aliens were the paramedics, that abducted him (to the hospital).
I can remember not really liking this track, the first few times I heard it. Then the (multiple) grooves caught me and it's become one of my favourite Tool songs.
Same, and when it clicks you realize the brilliance and rediscover it
Dang you should have included the lead in song Lost Keys
(edit) but besides that, great reaction per usual!
When you can, listen to the 2 tracks preceding this one. Lipan Conjuring is the protagonist getting high and Lost Keys is the doctors in the ER talking about him before he explains this story from the first person narrative.
Well, that was a ride.
Maynard really knows how to write super deep, complex yet ridiculous music.
10:40 My god this whole movement of the song is why we love the power and glory of this band
Is it an alien abduction? A bad drug trip? A warning for the extinction of humanity?
Yes.
I love every Tool song, but this song is fun and heartbreaking at the same time. Maynard is an amazing storyteller! This reaction was totally delightful. Thank you both!
Your shirt, it’s the shinning carpet…… here’s Johnny
Talk about perfect timing! I just reached a really nice mellow high, and I see THIS in my suggested vids. Their craziest, wackiest, completely awesomest song. This band has no equal. Too bad whoever suggested this forgot to tell you guys there's a required intro to this, called Lost Keys (blame Hoffman) for more context. Awesome reaction! Next I would suggest Third Eye, the sort of more serious, spiritual predecessor of this. An epic 13 minutes!🥃🥃
I heard that the "Bob help me" line is referring to Bob Weir (The Grateful Dead etc.) there was also a reference to "Dead Head Chemistry" (acid) in there. Trippin' balls.
Some also think on the abduction side of the song that it's Bob Lazar
Nah, it's a poke at the Church of the Subgenius - "Bob" is the "prophet" of the "religion" which was very popular back in the 70's through the 90's.
@@chrisstabile3243 maybe it's both? never dug too deep into these lyrics but they are brilliant as always coming from Maynard.
i think bob was the alien and he needed another probing to remember, and to maybe bring him a pen and paper this time
I finally saw this live last year! Can’t remember if I saw it at the 2006 concert In Oakland. But this is a masterpiece.
One of the best surprises from that tour! Had to watch them perform twice 🤘🏻
A true masterpiece!
This is my favorite track from this album..rock on!
Bill Manspeaker told Danny Carey about his wasted abduction story.
Maynard applied his comedic logic on that concept
The fact that you clocked the alien abduction right off the bat is so awesome to me
Timeless we will be listening to this in 100 years still loving it! If the archives hold 😊
Watch the John Kew drum cover… unbelievable
And for people like me who aren't even remotely drum literate, watch the video where John Kew explains what he had to do to break this song down and learn it. There is so much going on here that is beyond mere mortals.
probably wanna of my favorite reactions. I love the laughter, I had the same response to this song. My brain was blown and I didn't know what else to do but laugh.
Subscribed, you guys have so many more songs to do . Cant wait to watch, really like your reactions to tool.. you get it .
I love Justin's bass groove in the long instrumental section. You should check out Intension. It has one of the coolest bass intros and is probably one of their most underrated songs. It leads into Right In Two
The band had a friend that told them about this insane Acid trip so they decided to make this song lol.
The comparison I always think about is early Pink Floyd, like Umma Gumma era, in terms of experimental stuff. Great reaction as always love you guys!
Trippy AF! 👽
Yeah it is!
If a song is going to set the comments on fire it's this one. I'm sure 50 people said it already but, Lost Keys (the song before on the album) explains that he is in like a hospital bed and the doctors are asking if he's alright and what happened. This song is his story.
Also the first line of the song is ... x, DMT and a box of crispy creams....we're all pretty sure it's a trip. Is it good or bad though?
Yeah, we missed the Lost Keys. Whoops!
Meaning if the song? Who knows. I do remember reading somewhere that the inspiration for the song came from a friend of the band who was coming down from a acid trip or DMT or I can’t remember what he was in , but it was a trip of some sort.
He kept saying shit like he was abducted and they gave him a warning but he couldn’t remember what they told him . Something along those lines.
I'm thinking the Bob help me is a reference to Bob Lazar but that's totally just my opinion
best acid/dmt song ever, past and future. No song will ever be better in the very niche lyrics-about-a-dmt-trip song genre than this song.
This song is so relatable! We’ve all shit the bed
Underrated masterpiece!
That is an awesome shirt dude!
Thanks!
Can't help but think of S.Y.L. and the album Alien right now.
Damn, fucking hell! I've never seen the lyrics for this one! 😂
We’re happy you have now! 🤣
@@MatandChelsReact Yeah, me too 😅
Such a fun reaction 😂
the carpet from the Overlook Hotel lol
pure comedy gold lmao
3:06
Both impressions were brilliant
always loved tool songs, they always sound really interesting that t hey can carry you away if you allow it to happen.
After just getting out of the looney bin, best song in the world!
Silent Bob and Chels reacts…😂
🤣
Possibly my fav Tool song.
This is the greatest song of all time.
There is 2 other songs that go wt Rosetta Stoned. It's a true store
7:44 When the bridge is so fat, it makes you French
Next up, Ticks and Leeches.
Nice pfp
This is like Maynard channeling Hicks. Tool stand up.
DMT Vs. Alien Abduction. Wear a diaper.
Oh man, missed the intro
Lions At The Gate - "Find My Way" featuring Tatiana Shmayluk of Jinjer
Phahaa 😂 the next Metal Dude in a Disco shirt.. ..like me! ✊😁 Chenaski or where is it from..?
I will never forget how I? discovered Tool. 2001, I think I was 14 years old, we spent a lot of time listening to Music and one day my Friend Sandra asked me what I would love to hear or what kind of Music i would Create if I could. I answered kind of Cinematic Metal Music. The next day she came up to me with an Album called Lateralus, I pushed play, The Grudge started and I was forever in Love!
Spiral Out and may the Force be with you 🤘😝🔥
His shirt is the pattern on the rug in The Shining.
Must heat 'The Lost Keys' lyrics for more context
Regardless of how fun the song is this musically goes in so many directions and probably could have made 4 songs out of this one. Amazing reaction
That's as good as music gets. It's all downhill from here.
You forgot Lost Keys...
At 9:10 he actually says "I believe you ..... I believe... I believe you." Not hallelujah... Lol it goes with him asking " you believe me don't you? Please believe what I just said"
Sh*t the bed means to screw up
RIP
Dave

I like your shirt. Is that the carpet from The shining?
Yes it is!
Its a true story told to Maynard by William Manspeaker going into the desert to trip balls and claim he was also abducted during the trip.
Shrooms and tool go great together
Oh yeah
Ah yes, the song of my people
🤣
Well as I have listened to the song many times under many different substances and emotional conditions I've come up to a conclusion that the guy is tripping acid while he gets abducted this is why he's so worried about everyone not believing him because he's having trouble believing it too #ToolArmy
🤘🏻🌀
any chance you'd tell me where you got your shirt, Mat? I just subscribed 😉
Chels got it at Hot Topic several years ago.
@@MatandChelsReact thanks bruhddy. now we'll have to try and avoid each other everytime we wear "the shirt"
Right In Two
I think that guitar* solo is sbeing played with a violin bow
On Adam's guitar yes, that's what I understood anyway. 👍
Still my favourite Tool trilogy….
Right in two its a good story
and note... he forgot his pen...
so while you were trying to follow with this.. so was homeboy... while likely high off his ass, and was being told important things...
Now smoke a bowl and run it back lol
I like your videos.
Thank you!
Yoga DMT trip.
Key word: BLOTTER
Third Eye Salival, do the video for it 🙏
dude, your shirt looks a little familiar. hey wait is that the carpet from...nevermind
Hello friends, you should react to Disembodied Tyrant's new music called "The Tower" Part One, it has 3 songs and they are brutal, greetings from Colombia.
❤
Please react to Sansara by Indukti!🎉🎉🎉
This band doesn't get enough love
🔨army
As many have already told you, to understand the story well you need to listen to Lost Keys (Blame Offmann) first.
Sure sounds like an acid journey doesn't it?
💯
React to Right in two in the same album
I like to think that he was abducted while high
So glad you had the lyrics and could take the chuckle to heart. Nice job. Also, now just go listen to the instruments because the band fucking kills this one.
Is your shirt the carpet from the overlook hotel?
Top reaction. Check out Maynard's Dick, the song, for more funny 🤘
no fair reading the lyrics.
This song is awesome , but hilarious too.
this band is just amazing, the whole band got started by having comedy in common, Their guitar player was doing special effects for some famous movies before they started the band
I am so glad they did , every album is a very very long wait but always worth the wait .
