Part 2... he’s saying he got everything he wanted and was living large in the rockstar lifestyle... living like a king... a sultan... but after his son was born, it put his life in perspective, and really changed him for the better... and he’s saying that he’d give it all away if he were given the choice between all that decadence and success and his son’s life and his relationship with him... pretty straight forward when you listen to it over with this perspective.

David Gilmour was a huge influence of Adams and used it on the animals album particularly on the song pigs. If you listen to Gilmore solo on dogs it has a mirror template to Adams solo on descending. The talk box is actually taking your guitar sound running it through a plastic tube into your mouth then using the shape of your mouth to modulate the guitar sound back into a microphone. Pretty easy to build by yourself that’s what I did they are fun to use. I’m fond of running my theremin through the Talk box
The song also has effects in some parts. For example, he his dubbing his own voice in a different tune. Dont think they ment The guitar, cuz he mentioned The solo.

There's a lot of riding in Undertow. I'd check out Intolerance. Also can't wait till you guys have gotten far enough through the catalog that you can do album reactions. Then you can see how all these songs in the way Tool choose to fit together. Well done, again.
The awesome thing about Tool is that their albums are like a storybook, all the songs flow into one-another. So if you get a chance, listen to an album from beginning to end, they flow so seamlessly, it’s amazing!!
I finally got to see Tool live last year at Welcome to Rockville 3 day metal/rock fear in Jacksonville, FL. Tool headlined the last show on the 3rd day with a little over 100k people I was able to get about 15' from the stage. It was a childhood dream dream come true!!

Maynard uses a lot of voice effects on certain songs, such as this and Vicarious. I love how you guys talked about how this sounds like a whole different side of Tool, because I think that is the beauty of Tool. It presents itself in so many different ways, but it always sounds like Tool, there really is no tracks that are "off" so to say. Hope you keep these Tool Tuesdays going on for as long as possible, you guys have such a great passion in music and appreciate these pieces of art as they should be, keep on doing what you are doing!
There is a video where this song is played over scenes of the movie 300. I'd recommend listening and watching that video. The timing and scenes chosen are perfect with this song.
A little Tool Trivia-- Jambi was the name of the genie on Pee wee's Playhouse ("Meka-Leka-High-Meka-Hiney-Ho") on which Adam Jones got one of his earliest SPX production gigs. And according to Maynard, like much of 10000 Days, has to do with the death of his mother and wishing for another minute with her. Also, I believe this was Adam's first experiment with his Frampton-esque Talk Box.

This is true. Bought Lateralus the day it came out, but it took 12 yrs, and a major injury to my body, for the words in those songs to resonate. My Perspective changed, and a whole new world opened up for me...thanks to TOOL. Been loving these boys since I was a 16yo little girl!! ❤❤❤

There's references to the character Jambi from Pee Wee's Play House, who was a genie, and in the lyrics Maynard mentions wishing things, so that's where the name comes in and how you pronounce it.
There's a lot of riding in Undertow. I'd check out Intolerance.
Also can't wait till you guys have gotten far enough through the catalog that you can do album reactions. Then you can see how all these songs in the way Tool choose to fit together.

The awesome thing about Tool is that their albums are like a storybook, all the songs flow into one-another. So if you get a chance, listen to an album from beginning to end, they flow so seamlessly, it’s amazing!!
I finally got to see Tool live last year at Welcome to Rockville 3 day metal/rock fear in Jacksonville, FL. Tool headlined the last show on the 3rd day with a little over 100k people I was able to get about 15' from the stage. It was a childhood dream dream come true!!

This is my favorite song by them, but the way you guys absorb their music let's me live vicariously through you on how I felt when I heard them the 1st time. In 56 days I will see them for the 13th time.
Maynard uses a lot of voice effects on certain songs, such as this and Vicarious. I love how you guys talked about how this sounds like a whole different side of Tool, because I think that is the beauty of Tool. It presents itself in so many different ways, but it always sounds like Tool, there really is no tracks that are "off" so to say.
Hope you keep these Tool Tuesdays going on for as long as possible, you guys have such a great passion in music and appreciate these pieces of art as they should be, keep on doing what you are doing!

There is a video where this song is played over scenes of the movie 300. I'd recommend listening and watching that video. The timing and scenes chosen are perfect with this song.
A little Tool Trivia-- Jambi was the name of the genie on Pee wee's Playhouse ("Meka-Leka-High-Meka-Hiney-Ho") on which Adam Jones got one of his earliest SPX production gigs. And according to Maynard, like much of 10000 Days, has to do with the death of his mother and wishing for another minute with her. Also, I believe this was Adam's first experiment with his Frampton-esque Talk Box.
Thanks for the reaction! Love it when people get into Tool and transition from listening to Tool to hearing Tool which is a huge difference. Also, I don't trust anyone that doesn't have an intense emotional reaction to Wings for Marie Part 1&2 (my suggestion for next reaction while you are on the 10000 Days album) but they have to be listened to together. I'll let you guys figure out what the songs are about as it gives me chills and watery eyes every time I listen 😭🤘

This is true. Bought Lateralus the day it came out, but it took 12 yrs, and a major injury to my body, for the words in those songs to resonate. My Perspective changed, and a whole new world opened up for me...thanks to TOOL. Been loving these boys since I was a 16yo little girl!! ❤❤❤
