Now we have a second cat who wants to do the same but we can't keep him inside because they fight. But he loves following me every time I take my dogs for a walk. He'll just trot along behind and come up and rub up against the pups and my legs when we stop or slow down. So he's just our outdoor cat for now. We just feed him and look out for him.

I kitten showed up at my house, on a rainy day, my little brother heard meowing, open the door, and the kitten ran right in, we start to take care of him and soon he was our cat, and I'm a cat lover so of course if want him, we named him Kenny, and it's been a month or so that he passed away.

My grumpy old man cat (he’s 12-13yrs old, somewhere around there) and he looooves trying to escape and get outside so I decided to do the whole “walk your cat” thing too... At first, he HATED his harness and freeeeaked out, doing full body panic rolls and yowling...but I worked with him for about a week, putting the harness on once a day and leaving it on him while inside til he got used to it...then I introduced him to the leash and took him outside immediately. Now he will “ask” me to go outside by rubbing his face on his harness/leash and meowing...so I guess instead of training him, he’s trained me 🤷🏼♀️
xX_- WildCat - Gaming -_Xx; My cat is definitely unique...he HATES everyone else except for me...he’s definitely a Mama’s boy cuz he’s nasty to anyone else who even looks his way 😆 But I love him anyway, he makes it all worthwhile when he climbs into my lap for cuddles and he acts like a kitten sometimes when he plays...he’s adopted so it was a crapshoot but I’d say it’s worked out for the best for both of us 😇❤️

Crusty playing/fighting stuff on the floor and being more active is a sign that hes a little restless just like you thought, but its actually also a sign that hes getting comfortable in your house and now considers it his. Hes an old cat so its really impressive that hes playing like that, its a sign hes healthy, feeling good, and is comfortable in the environment you provide. In his mind, you're his family and he'll let you live there because he loves you, but its his apartment lol
I knew he was a rescue feral cat, but I didn't realize he was already an old man when you found him. And now I'm crying at the thought of this poor homeless grandpa cat finally finding love and comfort. We have a feral who was 1-2 and spayed when we found her. It is so great that you took this guy in.
This is the first (if only!) video I've seen of people trying to walk their cat in a humane and caring way. I'm sooo impressed by how compassionate you and Tyler are to Crusty's needs and how good of cat parents you are! This video was AWESOME, and I love that you actually took it slow and tried it out and didn't just turn it into a stupid "lol dragging cats" video. Kudos!
K you should watch didja and boomer on the CATMANTOO channel from Australia. Their owner is an animal trainer and his cats are so content they go on walks to the beach and to dog shows with total confidence. He really loves animals. As I can tell that Saff and Tyler do.
K Well there are also the many cats that just go outside on their own, sometimes for hours, sometimes for days. Usually they come back whenever, but some end up in accidents etc. Just make sure they are tagged according to local tradition / rules so they are not mistaken for feral cats.

same happened to me, lol. My cat is an ex-feral from my home country and his dog was a fancy french bulldog haha. Even better, my neighbor was my classmate since we live in a building mostly occupied by grad students, also he was seated next to me during graduation because of our last names hahaha Awkward!!!
It's wild to thing that a cat spend 15 years living on its own just to finally have the luck of retirement with you guys! Like what are the chances? I love how you make sure Crusty is comfortable with the harness and leash before you take him out. I saw so many videos where people just go, "Let's go walk our cat today", without any preparation whatsoever, and it made me sad. Your video did the opposite. It made me happy :D
I put my cat in the harness for about a week before I took him out side he basically goes to the car and a house but he getting better. He's four and hate the cat carrier.
my cat loves to go on walks with us, he gets sad when we don't take him with us but that's only because if he sees a dog he will try and protect us, he also doesn't like another dog going up to our dog and will protect her too. to make sure he doesn't follow us we have to give him food but when we get home he'll be annoyed that he didn't get to go. sometimes he's too quick to catch so he comes along and everyone comments on how amazing it is 😊 I'm proud of my cat.
I used to work at an animal shelter, and the seniors and ferals are hands down always the hardest the adopt out, not to mention both, so it just makes me so happy that you guys adopted Crusty!! :)

I recently had a stray adoption! It was quite odd, my dad (who HATES cats) walk in one night with this lil skinny cat standing on his shoulders and said "well, she just jumped up on me and here we are 😂😂" and since then I think shes been a perfect match for us 😌😌😌💕

I had no idea Crusty is a former feral!! This instantly pretty much threw my respect and love for you guys a 1000% higher than it has been before - and it has still been pretty damn high! My boyfriend and I have fostered about 30-35 cats in the last ~2,5 years, most of which have been feral as well, and adopted a momma cat and one of her kittens as well so I know the feelings one might get when a feral cat starts showing signs of affection and actually likes being inside. :) Of course where you live the winters aren't as cold as here in Finland, but whenever I see a previously feral cat laying on the couch in front of a window in winter looking at the snow outside I imagine them thinking along the lines of "Nyahhahaa, it may be cold outside but I'm all warm and toasty and well fed in here. I've escaped you, winter!"
Most of the cats we had where feral cats. The last one we got was two years ago, he just sat there 3 days meowing awfully loud, we thought he's hungry and fed him. He didn't leave, so we let him inside and kept him. He's an outdoor and indoor cat, and I assume my dad's cat. Two days ago he sat in for t of the door and scream meowed, my dad thought he wants to go in and opened the door and was already confused why he screams so much. The cat kept meowing, so my father turned the light on. Our cat hunted a bird for him and meowed because he should take it. The bird them escaped and he ran after it. Now my dad loves him even more lol.

That would explain why the tip of his right ear was cut! When doing feral cat capture spay/neuter and release or adopt out, Cats that are spayed or neutered have the tip of an ear numbed and cut so that way the capture spay/neuter team knows, "This cat was spayed! Do not capture again!" or put under anesthesia!
I couldn't keep myself from crying. My cat April, in this profile picture, should turn 11 yeard old on March 7th. But she's been gone since Saturday with no sign of her. :( I miss her so much, but I need to remind myself that I have many good memories of her.
Have you put her litter box outside? You might try that or setting out some canned tuna. You might also try shaking her favorite bag of food/treats at night when there's not a lot of human activity. I hope you find her!
I definitely wouldn't mark Crusty down as an ex-feral. He's too sociable with humans, and seems to meow much more than any cat that spent most of their youth feral would, not to mention his mysterious vasectomy. I'd say it's much more likely that he was a stray, as he behaves as though he was socialized by humans as a kitten.
he has a little cut in his left ear that (at least in my country) is a sign that a feral cat was castrated, so that nobody tries to get him castrated again, so i believe he was actually a feral cat, just a very docile one :) all my cats were feral/strays and they're just like him :)

Crusty is my favourite RUclips pet, along with Paesh, Cement and Merple. I tried to walk my elderly cat once. The neighbours Jack Russell nearly lost an ear.
What about Maru the british shorthair cat? He's pretty funny. And yeah, many dogs behave in a way that gets a negative response out of a scared or tense animal. Jack Russell's are arguably bigger assholes than cats lol, they don't have the size to finish any fights, but they sure like starting them. :P

360SRH 2 Im a veterinary nurse student, I know more about our pets than you'll ever learn from Google. Dogs don't travel in packs normally, they're with humans 24/7. I ain't talking about strays here. In the wild they would. But pets are domesticated, therefore they will never be able to be a wild animal and be treated like one. A cat would let you know if it was unhappy. Cats have been living with us since Egyptian times. It's not cruel. You wouldnt put a Guinea pig in a forest because that's where they once lived in the wild. Just like you wouldn't put a dog on the streets because we're sure they'd find a pack. So you wouldn't leave a cat in the streets. It's basic knowledge.

I recently had a stray adoption! It was quite odd, my dad (who HATES cats) walk in one night with this lil skinny cat standing on his shoulders and said "well, she just jumped up on me and here we are 😂😂" and since then I think shes been a perfect match for us 😌😌😌💕

I had no idea Crusty is a former feral!! This instantly pretty much threw my respect and love for you guys a 1000% higher than it has been before - and it has still been pretty damn high! My boyfriend and I have fostered about 30-35 cats in the last ~2,5 years, most of which have been feral as well, and adopted a momma cat and one of her kittens as well so I know the feelings one might get when a feral cat starts showing signs of affection and actually likes being inside. :) Of course where you live the winters aren't as cold as here in Finland, but whenever I see a previously feral cat laying on the couch in front of a window in winter looking at the snow outside I imagine them thinking along the lines of "Nyahhahaa, it may be cold outside but I'm all warm and toasty and well fed in here. I've escaped you, winter!"
Most of the cats we had where feral cats. The last one we got was two years ago, he just sat there 3 days meowing awfully loud, we thought he's hungry and fed him. He didn't leave, so we let him inside and kept him. He's an outdoor and indoor cat, and I assume my dad's cat. Two days ago he sat in for t of the door and scream meowed, my dad thought he wants to go in and opened the door and was already confused why he screams so much. The cat kept meowing, so my father turned the light on. Our cat hunted a bird for him and meowed because he should take it. The bird them escaped and he ran after it. Now my dad loves him even more lol.
He was never feral. Feral means "never socialized to humans," not "lives outside."

That would explain why the tip of his right ear was cut! When doing feral cat capture spay/neuter and release or adopt out, Cats that are spayed or neutered have the tip of an ear numbed and cut so that way the capture spay/neuter team knows, "This cat was spayed! Do not capture again!" or put under anesthesia!

I couldn't keep myself from crying. My cat April, in this profile picture, should turn 11 yeard old on March 7th. But she's been gone since Saturday with no sign of her. :( I miss her so much, but I need to remind myself that I have many good memories of her.

Have you put her litter box outside? You might try that or setting out some canned tuna. You might also try shaking her favorite bag of food/treats at night when there's not a lot of human activity. I hope you find her!

I definitely wouldn't mark Crusty down as an ex-feral. He's too sociable with humans, and seems to meow much more than any cat that spent most of their youth feral would, not to mention his mysterious vasectomy. I'd say it's much more likely that he was a stray, as he behaves as though he was socialized by humans as a kitten.

he has a little cut in his left ear that (at least in my country) is a sign that a feral cat was castrated, so that nobody tries to get him castrated again, so i believe he was actually a feral cat, just a very docile one :) all my cats were feral/strays and they're just like him :)

Crusty is my favourite RUclips pet, along with Paesh, Cement and Merple. I tried to walk my elderly cat once. The neighbours Jack Russell nearly lost an ear.
What about Maru the british shorthair cat? He's pretty funny.
And yeah, many dogs behave in a way that gets a negative response out of a scared or tense animal. Jack Russell's are arguably bigger assholes than cats lol, they don't have the size to finish any fights, but they sure like starting them. :P

360SRH 2 Im a veterinary nurse student, I know more about our pets than you'll ever learn from Google. Dogs don't travel in packs normally, they're with humans 24/7. I ain't talking about strays here. In the wild they would. But pets are domesticated, therefore they will never be able to be a wild animal and be treated like one. A cat would let you know if it was unhappy. Cats have been living with us since Egyptian times. It's not cruel. You wouldnt put a Guinea pig in a forest because that's where they once lived in the wild. Just like you wouldn't put a dog on the streets because we're sure they'd find a pack. So you wouldn't leave a cat in the streets. It's basic knowledge.
