This ain't no soft rock...THIS IS SOUTHERN ROCK!
Wet Willie "Street Corner Serenade"..A MUST HEAR!!
That was their other hit. Solid tune.
@@vincentschmitt7597 True,, Also around the time of Poco,, which no one seems to remember/suggest.
SOUNDS ALOT like Van mOrrison
Underrated Southern Band, glad you enjoyed them. Later in t he 70s they had 2 hits you might wanna give a listen to:'Street Corner Serenade' and 'Weekend' both are upbeat and you will enjoy them.
Street Corner Serenade is a must!!!!
Three of my favorite songs from my childhood in the 70s! I'm also a Georgia native, so there's that.
Yelp great songs!
-underrated is so overused !-
Drippin wet is one of the best live albums out there
Saw these guys open for Grand Funk. Jimmy Hall is one of the most underrated vocalists of the era. When they played this song Live, it was magic.
That’s when I saw them too!! ❤❤❤
I saw them open for Grand Funk as well. They were so loud I couldn’t believe it. They were louder than Grand Funk. But Man, he can sing!
A awesome group I remember in 1974, when I was 8🙂
One of my all time favorites, Jimmy Hall is amazing. They are a southern band out of I believe Tallahassee Florida. Check out their song Street Corner Serenade and also One Track Mind both great songs.
70's Hippy music! I absolutely love it then and now! We grew up with great music
Wet Willie's "Keep On Smilin" peaked @ #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1974. It was their 1st charted Hot 100 single (8 total between1974 - 1979) and their biggest hit.
It was pretty mainstream. I heard it on our local station in Pennsylvania
For the next Wet Willie, “Grits Ain’t Groceries”!
Yes, Lord!!
If you want to expand the repertoire you could do the lead singer Jimmy Hall with Blackberry Smoke doing this song (Grits ain’t groceries) from the Capricorn Studios a few years ago. An amazing rendition - it is fire!!!!
Eggs ain't poultry and Mona Lisa.....😅
@@jimriley749 exactly!
Don’t forget Baby Fat.
I grew up in the UK and hadn’t heard this track before, but I loved the sound and the message, we still need the message today for sure. ✌️
I'm thinking I'm thinking that's a Oprah Winfrey. Oprah winfrey does a good job singing that song oprah anyway, if she's got big boobs, big, beautiful bounce, and boobies
I'm thinking I don't know, but anyway😅😅😅😅
That is so funny because for years I thought it was Van Morrison.
You young folks don’t know what you missed. The 1970 era had so many great bands. The front mam for Wet Willie is Jimmy Hall. He also plays a mean harmonica and saxophone.
Jimmy Hall, the lead singer here, sang on Blackberry Smoke's cover of this. It's well worth checking out.
Love BBS
I like Jimmy’s voice on the BBS version better. Great version
Wet Willie sometimes opened for the Allman Bros Band. Duane Allman says, on one concert cd, "Wet Willie spit some chewing gum.." on the stage. Great tune. Get ready for that chorus. Yes indeed. Harmonica. Go! Well! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you.
I live in the UK ..i watch you when i go to bed in the evening .
I am an older lady but i do enjoy ..i think you as a couple are wonderful...keep it up ! Love from the U K.xc
Oh my goodness 😮haven’t heard this in decades 🙌🏻🤩 LOVE THIS SONG
I know what you mean Lisa. Every now and then I'll hear a tune and it's like, you're going back in time.
You know what kiddo, we grew up in a time of some really great music. We were lucky indeed.
Very well said Amber! Forgot about this song, thanks for doing it! Very positive vibe song. Good ole’70’s does it once again!
😁😁😁😁. Love this tune. "Weekend" & Street Corner Serenade" are also good. Jimmy Hall Lead Singer is from Mobile, Alabama so you guessed right about Southern Rock feel.
When I saw that dude come out with two belts full of harmonicas, I knew.😁😁😁😁😁😁😁❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love this song! Haven’t heard for decades!! I remember loving this tune when it came out during my high school years in mid 70’s 😁😉👍
That song just never gets old, so good. And the vocals from Jimmy Hall. Another great southern rock band from the 70's. Great song.
OMG!! You’ve played my A-Number One favorite song of all time! From my favorite band of all time, Wet Willie. Wet Willie formed in Mobile, Alabama in 1969 by brothers Jack & Jimmy Hall, they originally called their band FOX, but in 1970 when they went to record their debut album there was another band with that name, so they changed it to Wet Willie because Jimmy thought it sounded “Soulful”. In 1974 they recorded their biggest hit “Keep on smilin’”. Jimmy plays the soulful harmonica solo on that song. Jimmy still records today, he just finished recording some songs with the band Blackberry Smoke.
Oh my brother had a Wet Willie album back in about 1974. Loved it. What about the Williettes though?
Another great band from Alabama that was a staple in the 70’s! We were so fortunate to grow up when we did and being from Alabama I can appreciate all the great music musicians from my state put out there and continues to put out….love y’all and “keep on smiling” 😉❤
Really an upbeat, hopeful song by this classic southern rock band. Thanks for your reaction.
One of the best soulful songs ever! Love the drop in the 2nd half of the song. Gets me every time!
You guys are really going to love digging into some Wet Willie. But I really wish you guys would dig deeper into the Marshall Tucker Band. They have an amazing mix of blues, jazz, country and rock. And plenty of flute, saxophone and other amazing instrumentation and vocals. I think you guys are really going to love them. A good start would be In My Own Way.
In May of 76 saw Wet Willie open for Marshall Tucker Band in New Orleans City Park Stadium. Great show!
Lead singer Jimmy Hall had a minor solo hit “I’m Happy That Love Has Found You”. It’s great.
Big hit from the Summer of 1974. They were part of the Southern Rock movement. Some of their music has the Southern Rock groove but they also had a more R&B/Soul side than most Southern Rock bands. They even had Disco hit called "Weekend".
Wow, I can't believe you are doing this song. I just did a quick video of my dad getting visitors on one day where he's in the hospital with terminal cancer. It's the course that came up smiling through the pain that got me and was glad I recorded that moment when everyone was talking to each other and dad enjoyed it.....every minute. We don't know how long we will have him for but I still have him to say I love you to ❤ Keep on doing the great things that you do. Here from the start !!!!🎵🎶💜✌🇨🇦
Glad you and he could have that moment I am in the same situation but they're still assessing the situation for a time frame. So I like to say I'm like a jug of milk I have an expiration date I just don't know when mine is yet😅.
Jimmy Hall. Soulful singer and one of the best harmonica players EVER! Next should be "Grits ain't Groceries."
"Country Side of Life" is another great one by Wet Willie!
Great band! Saw them with the Allman Brothers and the Marshall Tucker Band in New Orleans in the late 70’s. They stole the show. Try another of their tunes … Everything That ‘Cha Do is my personal favorite
I remember this song. Love your channel too.
I've been loving this song forever ! The song is great and the lyrics fairly powerful too !
Back in the 70's we used to have concerts known as the "Derby Eve Jam" which took place the Friday night before the Kentucky Derby here in Louisville. The 1975 DEJ had a line up that was pure Southern Rock, with Wet Willie, The Marshall Tucker Band, and The Charlie Daniels Band. I instantly became a Wet Willie fan, and have followed Jimmy Hall's career throughout the years. The vocalist, harmonica player is still performing and going strong. Catch him if you can. If you're interested in further exploration of their catalog, "Grits Ain't Groceries" was always a favorite of mine.
Wet Willie played my company picnic in Mandeville, Louisiana back in 92` I met the singer Jimmy Hall then and then again five years later, backstage at Tipitina`s in New Orleans.
I got spoiled with this song. Jimmy Hall lives in my area and use to play at the Bluebird Cafe regularly. Any time I learned Jimmy was going to be at Bluebird, I went. Of course, he always ended with this song, because by the time it was over we were all standing on our chairs (some on the tables) singing with him. It was always a party. Great memories. Don't know if he still plays Bluebird, because I am just too darn old to get over there!
I saw wet willie twice, once with the Allman Brothers, and once with the Outlaws and Charley Daniels
That song is what the world needs to do!!
Wet Willie Soul Sister is great too off the same album, very funky! I know the lead singer Jimmy Hall, they,re from Mobile Alabama! I first saw them in 74, great show! And other times through the Year,s!
Highly recommend Wet Willie’s “Weekend” great happy song.
Hey guys this song brighten your day when ever you're having a bad day just play this song
Wet Willy toured with Grand Funk in the mid 70s and even performed with them on the song 'The Locomotion. 'The female singers were known as the 'Willettes.'
I love this song and love your reaction to it. Amber gets it.
There's a great live video of this song with Blackberry Smoke backing.
First time hearing this. All I knew of them up until now was "Weekend," a dance hit by them from the late 70s. At least the disco station(s) in NYC at the time played it.
Try these Wet Willie songs out: "Leona" "Street Corner Serenade" "Dixie Rock" "Weekend". All four are completely different.
Definitely a Southern rock song. Y'all look great. Jay those guns are looking good .
Saw 'em in '72 free concert at City Park in New Orleans.
Always loved this song! Southern Rock at it's finest.
I got the privilege of playing in a band with this the original drummer Lewis Ross in the early eighties. Great and loud drummer! I also went to school with Jimmy's brother Travis Hall. Great family!
Straight from my home town Mobile Alabama the city by the bay! Back in 1974 I think it was Wet Willie played at Bayfest Music Festival in Mobile and my mom got on stage and danced with them!
DO COUNTRY SIDE OF LIFE NEXT!!!! You will LOVE it!!!
Excellent, I was hoping you guys would find this, it's right up your alley!
Girl, you just make me smile and I love it. You are such a sweet soul! Don't you ever change!
They recently redid this with Blackberry Smoke and is incredible!
I had to listen to this song again LoL,I love it like I did when I was a teenager 👍.
In my top 50 all time faves. Classic Southern Rock.
Good music ol' wet Willie!
Great ole song that I had forgotten about. Thank you so much for keeping these old songs alive!
Pretty hard not to smile when you hear this. What a great tune.
You really gave that song the accolades it has long deserved. Love you guys!! 💙
This has always been one of my favorite songs! Love it! Also Street Corner Serenade is a good one by them! Also a big request and I know you guys will love it another 70s great it`s called The Rapper-The Jaggerz..please do this song I have never seen it reacted to.
Jaggerz a Pittsburgh band.😁
@@donnadubyak6504 Featuring Donnie Iris.
You all do my heart so much good because I know you get into the music like so many of us do. I love the way you appreciate even the subtle changes in voice and instrument. I am 68 years old and came out of these mid 70s giants of song that made such memories in my mind. It blows my mind sometimes. This was certainly one of those songs. Among many others!
I think 99.8 percent that I was the first to recommend this because I knew it would hit you strait in the head and heart....They are from Mobile, Alabama. I saw them one time live and they were over the top great.. Lucy Was In Trouble She's My Lady Dixie Rock Poor Judge of Character are some of the best funk low down trippin' songs you should hear by Wet Willie
A good one if you're intent on more Wet Willie might be "That's Alright" live '73. Another really cool 70's groove you should check out would be "Willin'" by Little Feat from '77
Besides Wet Willie, there is the Randall Bramblett Band, Tommy Talton, Eric Quincy Tate, The Dixie Dreggs, Grinderswitch, Sea Level, who is an off shoot band of the Allman Brothers. You should check out all of these bands. And Wet Willie is still playing today.
Dude you are working out them arms! Good for you. Looking solid!
If you like this song, you would love "Do You Know What l Mean" by Lee Michaels.
A radio station from Mobile,Al, their hometown, always plays "Weekend" at 5 pm on Fridays. Give it a reaction. Thanks
Next Wet Willie song should be “Shame Shame Shame”
Jimmy Hall really goes off on the harmonica
My first real concert, saw them open for Bob Seger and BTO on Sept. 21, 1974 when I was 18.
I saw Wet Willie in the mid 70's when they opened for the Grand Funk Railroad. What a concert! When I saw them, this song had just hit the radio.
I can't tell you how long it's been since I've heard this song, but I used to love it as a kid and it still sounds great.
You guys really need to watch some of their live stuff...Jimmy Hall plays the sax and harmonicas... try "walking by myself" "Street corner serenade" live will knock your socks off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jimmy is still going now a days...just as strong as ever.
True classic southern rock. Brings me back to my senior year in high school when I was 17.
Great times!
Takes me back to my high school days...Sophmore, Class of '77...Summertime in Georgia...A bag of goodies and a bottle of tequila...Keep on smiling..!
You two just make my heart smile! I love you kids.
This takes me way back! Thank you!
Hello Rob squad reactions. This is a classic. I was a junior in high school when this song came out in 1974. I have the original 45 vinyl record. I'd like to suggest another great tune from wet willie "Street Corner Serenade " I think you will enjoy this song as well. Thanks! I really enjoy your reactions

Hello from West Virginia ✌️♥️
Country Side of Life and Leona are a must. I saw this band numerous times during the 70s. Jimmy Hall still can get it with the best of them. Alabama roots and it shows.
One of the best live bands I ever saw back in the 70s. They're better live. There's a video on RUclips of them from the 70s playing an outdoor show in Macon Georgia. It's from a Don Kirshner presents video. They play Grits Ain't Groceries and a couple other songs.
Saw Tedeschi-Trucks Band cover this 2 weeks ago in St. Louis. What a show!
Great song. Surprises me Jordan didn't mention the awesome bass.
One of the ultimate "Feel Better" songs! Thanks for reminding me how much I loved Wet Willie!
Straight out of Mobile Alabama. Been fortunate to have seen them a lot. You gotta check out Grits Ain't Groceries. Jimmy Hall sings plays the harp and saxophone. He has been in Hank Williams Jr band. Don't know if he still is.
This was was my friend Dave’s favorite band. Brings back memories of him.
I love this song. More people need to know it
I haven’t heard this song in probably 45 years. Thanks for reminding us
Great song. Great reaction. Great reactors.
And a great T-shirt --- a New Orleans native here .
This song always went on a playlist every time I switched phones. Back when you had to reset your new phone. Looked like Amber was really connecting to the vibe of this cool song. Always been an all-time favorite of mine.
One of my roommates in college is the son of Jack Hall, the excellent bassist of Wet Willie. That whole family is great.
Bryan
Bryan Hall pllayed with my band Sol Junky and we have played with Wet Willie several times in concert
Charlie Daniels said, Jimmy Hall has more Soul in his little pinky, than most people have in their whole body.
AMBER/JORDAN/JAY
for your next female friday, try these songs:
"100% Pure Love"
CRYSTAL WATERS
"You Gotta Be"

I haven't heard this in ages. Brings back memories of my college days.
Love this one
"Your woman's playing games, and then she says that you're to blame". Yep! True that.
Great song to dance to in those days 👍♥️✌️😎
When it comes to Wet Willie, "weekend" is the jam. Y'all gotta check it out
'Weekend' is a superb fun nostalgic style song from Wet Willie.
