i was watching this, grew up listening during this era, and then recognized the bass player's face; RONN MOSS, who played the original 'Ridge Forrester' on the 'Bold & Beautiful', from 1987 - 2012...!!!
They played it in the movie Transformers! When the kid in the yellow Comaro was trying to make a move on Megan Fox in his car! and she refused his advances and got outta his car and started walking away..... and the song came up in his car Baby come Back!!!😢

After having taking BABY COME BACK for granted lo these many years, I now seriously believe this is one of the best modern pop songs ever written and performed. From the lyrics to the melody and how every instrument and vocal harmony is on point and supercool. It's laid back and smooth but at the same time it has a harder edge than most R&B tunes. Great song. Always loved those guitar leads. Tasty. Rock, blues, R&B, there's such a fine line between them that sometimes you just can't break it down to one genre.

I don't suppose either one of you remembers a daytime soap "classic" show called "The bold and the beautiful" ... But if you do, Ronn Moss, the bassist and co-lead singer of Player, played mullet-sporting, Kirk Douglas-chinned heartthrob Ridge Forrester for many years in it!
Songs like this remind me of a time in which someone would buy a vinyl album and everyone in the neighborhood would come listen to it. Sittin' around, hardly talking, listening to the songs, but reacting/discussing each song between tracks. Sometimes, if we played the songs enough to know them, we'd "band sync" while we listened. Great for rainy days!!!
There were SO MANY GREAT SONGS from the 70s & 80s! Player (before the new definition of a player, or playa), Exile, Poco, The Babies, Foreigner, etc etc etc.
This song is unique in that you can hear a mix of 60s and 70s sound in it, and yet you could hear it start to gravitate towards the soon to be early 80s sound. This is how music evolves from one decade to the next. This is still a great song for any time period.
A banger….even today this song sounds so good hard to believe its a 70’s hit. Again i would say that singing clearly so people can hear every word and sing along is most important.
