  • UK Gladiators - Series 7 1998 - Episode 15 - Final - 12th December 1998
Here are the 1998 Gladiator finalists!
Louise Raines (Bridal shop owner from Preston, Lancashire) versus Jane Smith (Full-time athlete and springboard diver from Sheffield, South Yorkshire)
Neil Parsley (Rugby league player from Wirral, Merseyside) versus Dave Walter (Fast food worker from Exeter, Devon)
Notes: Out of all the events, Duel appears for the first time since the quarter finals and it is in the final of Gladiators 1998 for its seventh appearance as a core event because it was replaced by Gauntlet in the semi-finals and has been played in six previous shows which were even numbered shows, heats 2, 4, 6, 8 and quarter finals 2 and 4.
Hang-Tough is in the final of Gladiators 1998 for its seventh appearance but was meant to be eighth because it was supposed to be played in four heats, especially either Heat 5 or 7 for its third or fourth appearance before or after Heat 6, but it is put on the fifth event because Duel is put on the fourth event, instead.
Final event appearances: Pendulum, Tightrope, and Vertigo.
Each of the events is played as a split event for all Gladiators and contenders for the final time: Vertigo for the women and Pendulum for the men since Heat 6, whilst Tightrope is played as a whole event for all men and women from the first event because Powerball is put on the second event, instead.
Prizes: The finalist contenders will share a grand prize of £4,000 in prize money by receiving one of two prizes; champions will each receive a four wheeled drive pickup truck. Runners-up will each receive a dream holiday at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
The contender with the fastest Eliminator time on the Eliminator will also receive an extra £1,000 bonus by breaking or holding the fastest Eliminator time with the existing record.
    Absent: Cobra.

2 very deserving winners. And with the momentum they had, of course they won the battle of the champions the following season too.
The Glads had a good night in what was a rough season for them. On that note, this is the first final that Cobra misses..

Series 7 (and 8) were the only ones I didn't get to see first time round because I was at university. So I thoroughly enjoyed watching series 7 here on RUclips throughout May 2021! The only downside in this series in my opinion was the Glads costumes as their logos are not as easy to make out as opposed to the earlier series, but otherwise all good! I will be making my way through series 1-6 over the next few months and watch series 8 afterwards. Many thanks for uploading all of these!

Gladiators was best from series 2-5, even with “The” John Fashanu presenting. The games were what you wanted, then they decided to go to Alton Towers for a lot of them, and put Jeremy “I need a personality” Guscott in there as a presenter. The best part of S7 is when the narrator says who has the blue balls.

One point that I think is worth making about Vulcan, he's incredible at the events he's good at but you don't see him trying anything else, which I think is not in the spirit, nothing on him as a person, maybe the producers demanded it but you always see him doing Duel, Gauntlet and Powerball
I can't remember him ever trying Swingshot, hang tough, the wall, vertigo, Tightrope, catapault, Whiplash, it does just seem like they rolled him out for the stuff he knew he'd be good at.

In VERTIGO it was clear to me that RIO broke the rules like ACE did by not swinging ANY of the poles far enough back from the vertical, I would've given 10 POINTS to Louise on this occasion.

    • @alloh2021
      @alloh2021 2 года назад +3

    • @runnerbean6166

The rules in vertigo in regards to swinging back were a bit up in the air as both gladiators and contenders seemed to get away with it during the season. Think Ace was the only one disqualified because of how blatant it was and I think the contender actually complained.
