Here are the quarter finalists!
Katie Budd Katie Budd (Recreational assistant from Hillingdon, West London) (as a replacement for Lisa Gibbs who has to leave the competition due to an injury from stairs in training) versus Nikki Wyatt (Fitness consultant from Weybridge, Surrey)
Paul Field (Police officer from Holborn, London) versus Matt Beeke (Telephone engineer from Epsom, North Surrey)
Notes: Danger-Zone is in the fourth Quarter Final for its appearance as a core event and a chest guarded event in an event line-up for one even numbered Quarter Final which interchanged with Gauntlet.
Pursuit is in the fourth Quarter Final in an event line-up for the Quarter Finalist contenders again since Heat 7 and Heat 8.
Duel is in the fourth Quarter Final which is not supposed to be in the fourth Quarter Final, only 2 quarter finals by parity number, and only a different event to take its place in a position in each quarter final.
Absent: Panther and Cobra.
The gladiator playback in the 90s is so much more quicker and precise than VAR in 2020 !

Her, Saracen, Lightening and Jet were refreshingly humble
Nightshade said in her time out she would like to model for Red for Dead fashion brand. Well she was approached by them after this show and did work with them. Next series she is very glamorous.
Nikki Wyatt was my favourite contender from Glads 1994. So thanks for the Glads upload on your YT channel. Will be slowly making my way through them!!
From 12 shows of Gladiators 1994, Paul was the first red contender to win.

I think I have to disagree with John Sachs claim that Paul cleared the end of the balance beam.
Shocking decision, nowhere near for me
It may have been based on this that they changed the rule and put a little mark on the end of the balance beam that you have to touch with your foot before you jump off
@@jonathanhockey9943they got rid of the yellow bit at the end of the seesaws because one of the female contestants non kicked off that she touched it when she didn't
Watching this really makes me wish we could have seen more of Paul Field, as opposed to just the International Series.
In the timeout where the Gladiators were talking about their ambitions, Zodiac and Lightning definitely made good on theirs about raising families of their own years later, I tell you.

Not enough Jet. The whole show should just be her. Clever camera tricks could have Jet presenting the show and doing every event. Jet against Jet. Perhaps the audience could be clones of Jet. Just Jet, Jet world

Watching Shadow and Nightshade batter the contestants on Duel was always a guilty pleasure of mine. Nikki took a hell of a beating. Scary thing is Nightshade only looked like she was only in 2nd gear.
I miss gladiators
They brought it back a couple of years ago but it wasn’t as good as they did duel, hang tough and the eliminator over/in water

Throughout the entire series Fash demonstrated how ill-equipped he is for the role. All of the clumsiness and none of the charm. So surprised he was allowed to go for the duration. Lukily balanced by Ulrika who was one of the most natural TV personalities of a generation.

The Lady Glads were on their "A" game this episode--shutouts in Hang Tough, Pursuit, The Wall, and Duel.

Absolutely should have been disqualified for jumping off the beam! Is this the reason they added the red section to the end of the beam in later series?
I agree, he clearly fell off. I guess this is the reason the red section was added, so that nonsense like this doesn't happen again.
Poor Lisa Gibbs having to drop out of the Series like that, its also a shame she didn't get invited back to try again the following year like Rowan Duxbury did ironically the same person that Lisa defeated in her Heats to get into the Quarter-Final in the first place.
On a happier note, Katie Budd got her match against Nightshade (even if she lost).

I would have loved to have seen Paul come back for some of the specials like Phil Norman, Mark Everitt and Mark Mottram did. Maybe IG1 put him off after he hurt his arm on Power Ball.

If penalties were introduced for Pursuit these would be the scores for the event.
For the Girls:- Katie had 3 PENALTIES in Total but was caught on the Hand-Ladder so scored 0 POINTS, Nikki has 2 PENALTIES but was also caught on the Hand-Ladder so scored 0 POINTS.
For the Boys:- Matt had 1 PENALTY for once again Not Touching The End Section of The Snake-Beam so would've scored 9 POINTS.
As for Paul Field I counted 4 PENALTIES (1 for the Snake-Beam/2 for the Wire-Bridge/1 for the Hand-Ladder) so would've only scored 1 POINT.
In terms of Paul Field being DQ I thought it was harsh at first, but having watched the Replay a good few times I do think if Paul hadn't jumped forward on the Hand-Ladder and skipped those Rungs then Saracen would've tagged Paul before he completed the Hand-Ladder, so I guess in all fairness it was the right decision although there is certainly a lot of anger it left people in after the decision was made for sure.
Also in Pursuit it did seem rather unfair for Paul to be DQ like giving how a number of other contenders got away with not having to remount where they fell off. Much as I do enjoy the event PURSUIT the rules for 1994 were very sloppy indeed, good job they were changed and introduced PENALTIES POINTS in 1995 & 1996, but at the same time it reduced the number of appearances for the event itself.
Luckily it didn't affect him too much since he not only won the show but won the series.
Plus he got maximum points in three of the other events and 5 points in Hang Tough.
In Danger Zone it looked like Katie got tagged by Falcon's first shot before she even got to the first weapon. Ref must have missed it.
I think you are right here in that case Katie would be The Very First Contender to score 0 POINTS in ALL 5 EVENTS
Katie has to be one of the most jarring contestants over the 8 series for females, alongside that heifer from S5 that got knocked out by Laser on Duel

I think Panther was absent because she did a game called "tilt" and she almost got killed when had a bad fall!!
Yes panther won’t be back for a long time she had to have a lot of treatment but when she did return she was just as good. I read an interview with her where she spoke about it and explained what she went through and why she had to come back.
They all skipped the hand ladder swinging it multiple rungs at a time in Pursuit, so singling out one was very unfair.

I would say lightning as if I recall correctly she has never conceded more than 5 points in a match while Saracen has.

@@drumtum those were different times, my friend. These days there are probably still people who would not be mindful about doing that with their baby... but no television network would show it like it was nothing. She would've been handed ear protectors for the baby as well as a pamphlet with instructions on how to celebrate whilst also "firmly holding the infant's neck as to give it the caring support that it needs during the first 12 months of it's precious life".
He also has serious night terrors about being chased by various wild creatures including a wolf.😜
This is why Matt vs Paul should have been the final. It was the only time in the domestic season where he was rattled by an opponent. It was evident on Pursuit and the Eliminator (where he cheated on the beam).
I don't think he cheated at all, he was losing balance and jumped off. I can see why they brought Matt back for the ashes as he could well have got to the final on the other side of the draw.
Why in the feck didn't they at least give us an update on Panther's injury? That was just disrespectful on Nigel Lythgoe's part.
Shadow was probably drunk in this one. He was drunk in quite a few episodes

Katie went from being the highest scoring contender of the series in the heats to the lowest scoring contender of the series in this show.

You're allowed to jump off the beam as long as you reach the end of it. However, jumping off it isn't going to leave you balanced to run up the travelator which is why Paul fell straight off.

The Rules In THE ELIMINATOR Are Very Clear
In The BALANCE BEAM, The Contender Doesn't Have To Touch The Very End Of The Beam, But They Do Have To CLEAR THE RED FLOOR
If When They Come Off The Beam They Do Touch THE RED FLOOR, They Are Sent Back To The Start Of The Beam
47:35 In This Case With Paul Field, He DID Clear THE RED FLOOR & So Was Therefore Entitled To Continue & WIN THE ELIMINATOR
NOTE:- Also If Contenders Do Try To Jump Off The Beam Early, They Risk Injuring Themselves Through A Heavy & Not Very Skillful Landing!

Paul did not break any rules and him jumping off the beam when he realized he was about to fall off turned out to be the right thing to do as he didn't have to do the beam again and despite fucking up the travelator first time round he had the chance to do it again
