- UK Gladiators - Series 3 1994 - Episode 9 - Quarter Final 1 - 5th November 1994
Here are the quarter finalists!
Jo Neath (Sport science student from Blackpool, Lancashire but originally from Crewe, Cheshire) versus Erika Rogerson (School teacher from Lancashire)
Dean Pollen (Sales manager from Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire) versus Phil Campbell (Salesman from Lee-on-Solent, Gosport, Hampshire)
Notes: From the Quarter Finals onwards, the contenders’ outfits are reverted back to pink and yellow for the women and red and blue for men as normal.
Duel is in the first Quarter Final for its appearance as a core event and a combat event in an event line-up for odd numbered Quarter Finals, same as Pole-Axe and Powerball.
From this series onwards, Powerball now has a base of appearances in two Quarter Finals in an event line-up that is only played for its appearances in odd numbered quarter finals, not even numbered quarter finals.

That was great sportsmanship from erica going immediately to panthers aid when she fell. She clearly knew something was seriously wrong.

I remember Jet being beautiful, I just didn't remember how good and competitive an athlete she was also, her performance on pyramid in this show was impressive athleticism

Good sportsmanship from Erika after Panther's fall. I wonder if they have spoken to each other in the nearly 30 years after that happened.
Oh, it's THIS episode. Yes, the one where Panther nearly crippled herself when she slipped off the Tilt platform and landed awkwardly. They should have redesigned the event to make it safer, but all they really did was eliminate the "draw" (go the entire 30 seconds without someone coming off the towers) and change the rule involving the rope (which was no longer attached to the participants and if the red marker reached the platform, that person won).
And we not only had that event, but two other "dangerous" events in Pyramid and Pole-Axe.
P.S.: I'm glad that they switched back to the normal uniforms from what we had in the heats.
And don't forget the injury Nightshade suffered in series 4!

And it was immediately after Nightshade's injury in Series 4 that the ropes were no longer attached to the belts, although that was because the belts broke during the incident. The red marker rule change came into effect when the second female contender, Kay Kershaw, went up against Amazon (Jenny's second pull, which was against Falcon (Nightshade's replacement) kept to the previous rules although the "draw" was eliminated).
These outfits were better.

If TILT was played over water like in the revival it would'be been a lot safer for everyone I think.
One of the few things about the revival that was better
Water hurts too when you land like panther did, and if you're in pain,you can't swim

I know Falcon is generally the nicest of the Gladiators, but I would not want to have run into her backstage after that Double Whammy on Pole-Axe...especially after that first one.
Tubewings It was bizarre how Falcon was chosen for Pole-Axe in this show, she never did The Wall (apart from Celebrity Specials) or many of the chase/speed games at this point. I thought if it wasn't Nightshade it would had been Scorpio or Jet, even Zodiac that be summoned to the Poles. Poor Falcon, think some of her family where there to see her. One lady before the 1st round with the banners, look like her sister.

I was talking about this stage of her gladiators career. Hence why I said "at this point".
She did the Wall in domestic competition
once in season 4,
twice in season 5,
once in season 6
twice in season 7 and one more time in heat 2 of the final mini season 8.
I always lose it when wolf screams quiet at the audience hahaah
At last on TILT, Warrior has a challenge in the form of Dean.
Unfortunately this was the Tilt where Panther was seriously injured.

In fact these are my favourite contenders outfits.
Poor Wolf - his job was to be the hissable villain of every show. I just found myself rooting for him.
Wolf wanted to play the villain. He took the idea of playing the "bad man" to the producers who were reluctant at first. Eventually they caved and let him have fun with it.
He’s the Gladiator we love to hate love him or hate him he was popular with many fans
Even when I watched this as a kid I loved wolf he was my favorite
He was most popular when I was a kid. They tried to play Saracen as a baddie too but never worked.
I was a child during the later half of these, it started before I was born.. But the ones I did watch, Wolf is the only one I remember.

It was also strange that Falcon was doing Pole-Axe for the Women, something must've been wrong with Nightshade after Power-Ball but she was still able to compete in Duel.
Pole-Axe wasn't Falcon's event.
I saw this one filmed live and as a fun fact they film pole axe first (even before the intro interviews).
Starting to wonder why Lightning didn’t do Pole-Axe in this episode. She would have been a better choice

@@davidfearis7335 Fash left 2 years after Shadow was sacked. I think Fash left because of the Match Fixing allegations (whether he was sacked or not I don't know).
