    And when you all are watching this grand final of the 3rd series 1994, on the 4th event, Powerball Sam Codjoe had picked up an injury from his neck when a gladiator, Shadow hooked him with his arm with a terrible tackle, and if he couldn't compete Duel and the Eliminator, then there would be a substitute contender that he would be replaced by .... Phil Campbell (Salesman from Lee-on-Solent, Gosport, Hampshire) as a stand by who was beaten by Sam in the Semi finals.

  • @AirTails
    @AirTails 4 года назад +18

    Everyone remembers Eunice, but Kerryn was awesome too. She usually dominated Powerball but I think the glads focused on her because of that in the final. It was ridiculously close on the eliminator and could've gone either way, with both of them failing the travelator. Kerryn would go on to beat Eunice in the ashes I believe. Both of them are stand out contenders across the shows entire run.

    I keep hearing they're bringing Gladiators back! I hope so. They need to keep the fun/playful yet slightly grand elements from it with focus on good sportsmanship. They also need to keep the theme song! Just arrange it with a high quality orchestra and use modern guitar tones, percussion and production. Maybe good powerful female vocals would work better too.

    One of the few Gladiator final's I can't really complain about the winners as both deserved to win their respective finals, Eunice, one of the best female contestants they've ever had on the show and one of the biggest characters, she reappeared quite a lot after this on Gladiator specials and as a coach in season 5 and went on to get stunt work in film I believe. She was head and shoulders above any other woman during this season.
    With the male side, sad to see Sam go out like that (poor guy had three injuries in each round) and was a bit of a character and I felt bad for the guy replacing him as he didn't want to be there, and overall Paul was the best out of the Men's side and deserved it overall, can't complain. Overall probably my favourite season of Gladiators overall 9/10

      John Anderson led the auditions, which took place in a sports hall. I actually started very well, I was one of the fastest on a run, did well in some throwing things etc, but I hate going on my head and they made us do forward & backward rolls for ages, which I was very slow at.
      Felt like a weird reason not to make the cut, can't think of any events that need you to do loads of forward rolls.
      Anyway, I was surrounded by pro rugby players, there was a kick-boxing champion and pro athletes. One guy ran up a wall and flipped off it at the end of our run... It was at that point I knew I'd need a miracle to get through.
      Also, I'm 5'6, but was incredibly strong as training all the time and very fast, but I notice no male contenders in the '94 series seem to be that short, I think Sam was 5'8, and then generally 5'11 to 6'2.

    10:40; A little note about the American Gladiators that we see throughout the night.
    Hawk (RIP) and Jazz both debuted in the previous season, and this was their second year with the American Gladiator team.
    Ice debuted back in the American version's second season, and this was her fourth year with the show (she was absent from the series' fourth season due to a contract dispute).
    Nitro was one of the original American Gladiators, initially leaving the show after season three due to a contract dispute (some of the Gladiators wanted a share of the merchandising revenue, which the producers refused, so they left), but he came back for the show's sixth season in an attempt to reverse declining ratings on the condition that he be an announcer for what ended up being the show's final year.

    • @danalong1237
      @danalong1237 6 лет назад +1

      If you're not a fan of American Gladiators, here's a history lesson:
      The original, but never-aired, 👩‍✈️ of American Gladiators was taped with former Minnesota Vikings QB and Pro 🏈 Hall of Famer (not to mention co-host of That's Incredible and a successful infomercial host) Fran Tarkenton and former Chicago 🐻 Tim Wrightman as hosts, and future TPIR model Annette Marroquin (also best-known as Jungle Woman on the original G.L.O.W. 📺 series and for being a cheerleader of the L.A./Oakland Raiders for 7 years and for being 😊 friends with Lisa "Ivory" Moretti, also a G.L.O.W. alum who later joined WWE in 1999 at the age of 37) as ☝️ of the 👩‍✈️'s Gladiators. The show made its official debut in weekly first-run syndication on September 9, 1989 with another Pro 🏈 Hall of Famer Joe Theismann and former New York Jets player and former NBC Sports commentator Mike Adamle (who later had an ill-fated 🏃 with WWE and later became sports director at WMAQ-TV in Chicago) as hosts for the first half, but by 1990, Adamle was promoted to main host shortly after the show became popular, and remained there for the rest of its 🏃, joined by co-hosts such as the late Todd Christensen, Larry Csonka, Lisa Malosky, John Fashanu, Daniel Lee "Nitro" Clark, Ulrika Jonsson and Kimberley Joseph. The first two seasons of the show were taped at Universal Studios Hollywood, with the remainder of its 🏃 being taped at the CBS Studio Center and the most memorable theme song was composed by Academy 🥇 winner Bill Conti.

      Cobra was misquoted in the paper article. He was only drunk during some of series 3 where he missed alot of shows, as he broke his leg during the 1994 Wembley live shows and was not on top form. He gained weight due to his leg in plaster pior to filming and was unable to do his regular fitness training.
      Backstage hospitality the area was getting more and more lavish each year and there was lots of alcoholic beverages. It was only when he was being harnessed up for The Wall and during a game of swingshot he released how unintentionally pissed he was. He was back to top form for series 4 and had some very impressive wins on The Wall and Hangtough.
