  • UK Gladiators - Series 7 1998 - Episode 9 - Quarter Final 1 - 31st October 1998
    Here are the quarter finalists!
Sharon Kewley (Marketing assistant from Liverpool, Merseyside) versus Louise Raines (Bridal shop owner from Preston, Lancashire)
Dave Walter (Fast food worker from Exeter, Devon) versus Cassius Frankson (Fitness instructor from East London)
Notes: Atlaspheres is in the first quarter final in an event line-up on the first event because Powerball is put on the third event, instead.
In an event line-up for all Gladiators and contenders in a split event, Dogfight is for the women and Swingshot is for the men.
Hang-Tough is in the first quarter final in an event line-up for its fourth appearance but was meant to be fifth because it was supposed to be played in four heats, especially either Heat 5 or 7 for its third or fourth appearance before or after Heat 6.
Gauntlet is in the first quarter final in an event line-up as a core event and a chest guarded event for odd numbered quarter finals.
    Absent: Rio and Ace.

49 points was a domestic record for a contender (for a 5-event show).
No wonder the Glads had it in for Dave on the Gauntlet. He embarrassed them all night and showed why he was the best.

The application of the explanation at 39.50 can be seen that in the second section when Cassius was put out he moved on to the next section as opposed to having to go back to the start of the section as with Rhino.

Sharon and Dave should have been in QF2. Pauline and Neil should have faced Louise and Cass in QF 1.

Hunter was very competitive however, hated losing and his petulance would come out from time to time nothing wrong with that its good to a degree. Saracen just never wrapped his head around the rules with regards to the Gauntlett throughout the shows history, hence his re-occurring frustration when playing it, it was the only game I ever seen him lose his cool on and it was always down to a difference of opinion with the decisions made by Anderson,, he was brilliant as a glad 99% of the time.

Hunter lost the plot in this episode on gauntlet, were they pissed at Dave for how he beat Cobra on hang tough or something? Also, Cass clearly jumped out of the gauntlet of his own choice, so the right decision was made there also. Not sure what the big deal is about as Wolf gave Cass a free pass on hang tough by doing his usual clownery. I think Hunter was also pissed as Dave was too good for him on swing ball. Very fragile egos in some of these guys...

On 2nd viewing I've changed my mind about Dave Walton being an average winner,, he was very good in fact, scored heavily and seemed to be like a horse idling in front on this particular eliminator as well, but once Cass went to his girth he sped up and bolted clear 🤣 some need to be challenged before producing their best I guess, whereas most buckle under pressure when it comes to the challenge.
