Interesting, Mr Mahbubani pointed at the host as simple minded person. His zero sum question as either it is black or white.
The problem is the Western Elite (political, military, economic, financial, media, intellectual and cultural) think that every time they meet others is to conquer and dominate them.
Other cultures such Chinese, Indian, African think that when you meet others, should cooperate and exchange with them. Because we are all human beings sharing the same space.

The host has a very predictable agenda and narrative he wanted to push but miserably failed. The gap in knowledge , intelligence are just too wide. He come into this interview basing his questions on prejudices, misconceptions and propaganda, meanwhile the guest answered his questions basing on expert analysis, first hand experiences, and facts.
Everyone is shitting on the host, but I think he intentionally geared his questions this way so that general Western concerns about China can be addressed. Well played..

America China competition will be a very tense and risky. Both countries must learn from cold war experience. This time competitors have same size of economy and knowledge based societies. Russia and India are the key countries who will write the fate of competition.
