      Liken unto a patriarchal blessing, where you receive direct and divine revelation. You probably should not talk about what the lord, and Heavenly Father has directly said to you. You should treat it as sacred because it is. Plus on top on this that may not be true for everyone because to the people who understand the scripture it may be helpful for them to theory craft on top of what they know.

    Long story short:
    In the 1980s, the University of Utah hired two Coptic Egyptian Linguistic Professors to translate some texts from English into Arabic. The LDS Church learned of the professors' presence in Salt Lake City and asked them to proof-read the recently translated Arabic Book of First Nephi.
    Previously, the Church hired a bilingual American to perform the Arabic Book of First Nephi translation and wanted a native speaker to proof-read for accuracy and grammar. The professors both refused. Eventually, the Church persuaded one professor to perform the proof-read.
    Long story short continues:
    Upon completion of the proof-read, the professor told the Church NOT to publish this transcript, because it used extremely juvenile Arabic. "Publishing this transcript which is so simplistic and mediocre will embarrass the Church", he said. So, the Church asked him to translate the entire Book of Mormon. He refused. Eventually the Church persuaded him to perform the entire translation.
    Some months following the completed Arabic translation, that Egyptian Linguistics Professor spoke at a seminar in Salt Lake City. My father attended that seminar. One attendee asked the professor to comment on his general impressions of the Book of Mormon. The professor replied, "I do not know who wrote the Book of Mormon, but I do know that it was not written by a 19th century, 24 year old, English speaking American".

It’s very interesting to me that when you are an endowed member the scriptures open up to you in a way that no others can see! It’s like a secret code maybe? The endowment is all over the scriptures! It’s amazing! Really a miracle to me. When you have that knowledge, personal revelation opens up in your mind to find further meaning and it swells inside. It’s amazing. What a blessing! I love finding new lenses to view through. One time I went to the Temple and marriage was the backdrop on my mind. And royalty and how Kings and Queens are crowned in the ceremony. The rings on the fingers and the scepters and staff. So rich with symbols and absolutely beautiful to me. Look up Jesus name written on your right hand in Hebrew. It was so profound to me. And when you look up the things as to the meaning of rings on certain fingers it just opens more up of what we've been given. Also being covered by the right Hand of God. Psalms 91 and all over the scriptures. I saw a video about how the big Dipper is on the Salt lake Temple. I'm from Georgia so I've never known or seen that. But if you think about vessels and cups and those things it brings so much more understanding. The brother that spoke of this talked about the cup we bring to be filled by the Savior for sacrament or to the Temple. And the promise that he heard from the Lord. That if we bring a cup the size of the big Dipper the Lord will fill it! I can say that this discussion has definitely done this for me. I always write when I find Temple language in the scriptures but this made it so much larger and delicious!
    When you go into the sacrament on Sunday look up at the lights in there and think of the Temple. What do they look like to you other than lights?
    It's a connection for me with Sunday worship and the larger sacrament we partake of with Temple worship.
    Imagine those lights filled with liquid light being poured out onto us!
    It's so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I am going to share this as well. Have an amazing Thursday y'all❤🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌

    The discussion on Matthew 5:48 was so insightful....'be ye therefore perfect'... which was translated from the Greek as a command. Dave says the underlying Greek was a future statement of 'you will be perfect'. I've never heard this before. How many of us struggle with the thought of never being good enough for the church. Learning about the translation of this single verse helps me feel better, that I'm doing alright! Just stay on the straight and narrow and we'll get there.

    • @sarahbean6170
      @sarahbean6170 6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. Members need to stop this belief. I can see how they do this but it’s not at all literal. This is why we are asked to search the scriptures.

    • @JulioRamezz
      @JulioRamezz 6 месяцев назад +1

      He is wrong. Those are just “flattering words.”
      Yes, it’s a command. It’s not a declaration. Because the command is to repent of ALL sin, and this commandment is repeated more in scripture than any other thing. Be. Perfect.
      However, I sympathize with you completely. The reason we (especially myself, almost committed suicide) constantly feel like we can’t be perfect is because we apply all these other unattainable pressures on us. And they come from the church, I’m sad to say.
      We need to figure out what HIS definition of perfect is and reconcile ourselves to it. As we learn more, we must live according to that much more.
      The only reason I know the Savior today, and that I’m still alive, is because I chose to be the Laminate who threw away my false traditions. Those traditions crushed me. And they crush almost everyone else in the church.
      But the answer is not to change what Jesus said and pretend it’s ok not to be perfect right now. The answer is to understand what He meant by it.
      He came to the earth to prove that yes, it is possible. We CAN live without sin. He literally did it from birth to death. And it was wayyy harder for Him than it will be for any of us. Not easier. He was tempted infinitely more. So we can do it! We just need to unlearn a few things.

    • @sarahbean6170
      @sarahbean6170 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@JulioRamezz How does this come from the church? I see it coming from the members. All the general authorities, apostles and prophets teach are what Jesus would teach us. The members are the ones internalizing it wrong.

      The BoM tells us that it is a command. Or was that mistranslated?

    • @JulioRamezz
      @JulioRamezz 5 месяцев назад

      @@sarahbean6170 I’m afraid, no. I’ll explain why I disagree.
      One major reason for my suicidal ideation was because a general authority who I won’t name, but could prove to you by showing you our text messages, made specific promises to me twice, over a period of 8 years, regarding my military career. These promises were time-bound, and I was beyond faithful. They did not come to pass in the slightest.
      When I cried and admitted to God that I believed this leader was wrong, I thought He would scold me for having no faith. But the exact opposite happened. Then my entire situation changed because I began to learn.
      Now I have written an entire book’s worth of extremely significant doctrines that these men teach which the Savior not only wouldn’t teach, but DIRECTLY preached against. In the plainest terms.
      I won’t regurgitate them here because that always leads to arguing and “well that’s just your interpretation” type of talk. But I feel like you’re sincere and I have no desire to argue.
      But for the smaller things that add stress, I’ll mention some of the extra fluff that comes directly from the church authorities that Jesus never said.
      - do your home teaching
      - every young man must go on a mission
      - shave your face
      - cut your hair
      - wear a white shirt and tie
      - only one pair of earrings (women only)
      - alcohol makes you unworthy (D&C 88 literally recommends beer)
      - follow the prophet
      - anyone who doesn’t agree with the current church leaders is damned (He would be in that group in His day)
      - go to the temple weekly
      - go to the temple at all for that matter
      - do not masturbate
      - do not drink coffee or tea
      - give the church 10% of your paycheck
      - go to mutual, scouts, young women, service projects, choir practice, FHE, auxiliary meetings, temple cleaning, orchard picking, canning, and etc. [in other words he never said to cumber your schedule just to feel righteous] The above are all things that top General Authorities have demanded. And have made members feel bad for if they’ve failed to do.
      Jesus isn’t saying hard work and service to others isn’t important. But He also never said to relinquish that power to the church and let them dictate how you do it so you can check the box. These constant cumbersome extra “commandments” from the top leaders is what drove my faithful mother into insanity, feeling more and more worthless the harder she served.
      She took religious notes during conference to ensure she didn’t leave one stone unturned of things she was supposed to do (not according to bishop’s opinion, but from the general conference pulpit).
      Do you feel equally encumbered? The need to live up to all these ridiculous things that don’t satisfy your soul? No wonder you’re convinced that perfection is impossible.
      But… You CAN still live the law to the “T” and not feel this way. The first thing is requires is to do what I did and acknowledge to Heavenly Father that it doesn’t feel right, even if it’s coming from someone you believe speaks on His behalf.
      Then, see what the God of James 1:5 tells you in response…

    Most new chapels of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints are modeled after Solomon's temple design. The porch is the overflow, the main body of the chapel is the nave and the stand where you walk up stairs to get to is the holy of holies. The front of the stand is the veil and the podium which is just behind the veil, just like in Solomon's temple is where you here the voice of the Lord. In some of the older chapels you also have the same number of lights hanging from the ceiling as their are oil lamps on the menorah.

Where you are baptized and where initiatory is performed is compared to the porch of solomon's temple, which didn't have a roof, because it is all part of the lone and dreary world. Next in Solomon's Temple you move into the Nave, the second room. In the modern day temples this is the Endowment room or the Telestial room. Then finally in Solomon's Temple we pass through the veil and into the Holy of Holies. In modern temples we pass through a veil and move into the Celestial room. All the same pattern.

    So . . . I was discussing with my brother the actions of Lucifer and his fall and how it related to the scriptural statement that "he became Satan".
    We hypothesized that on other worlds the role of Satan or the accuser was an assigned role administered by a faithful follower of God; an angel sent from the presence of God to execute the will of God in matters pertaining particularly to the Fall of Adam. His work was to execute the very same actions that Lucifer executed, yet under the direction and care of God. Thus, in this manner, the Fall would be a planned and orchestrated event with purpose and proper timing.
    However, Lucifer "became Satan". He was chosen for the adversarial role but succumbed (best word I have in English) to the power of the position and fell to become the Adversary of God.
    All other angels from time immemorial have withstood the temptation and become exalted right along with their brothers and sisters. However, Lucifer has lost that right because he loves being vicious and evil and being the opposition. He has become Satan.
    When Enoch saw that this world is most evil above all other worlds which God has created; it is not a hyperbolic statement. Because of the presence of Lucifer, who has lost his first estate by rebellion; in combination with that power ordained upon him by God as the Adversary; the necessity of the intercession of Jehovah became essential.
    Only a God could rectify the catastrophe brought on by Lucifer's rebellion. This is the only earth in all of God's creations which the Son of Man has died upon. There are other earths and other sons of God but here is where it all happens for real. Because Lucifer became Satan.

      Sometimes I think there may have been other Satans. I don't know. Sometimes I think Lucifer snuck out of God's presence, like a teenager sneaking out of the house at night, and met a Satan from another world who shared an alternative with him.

    K just got done listening to it all. This episode has fully turned my scripture study and way of looking at things in its head. I know the Book of Mormon has loads of temple symbolism in it along with the OT and NT as I've been told many times and heard from people like you. I get glimpses at times but not as much as I feel is there. I've looked and looked and rather than be an Easter egg hunt it has turned into trying to find a leprechaun and a pot gold instead. It's been very frustrating but this episode shone a huge spot light and helped me view things through appropriate lenses. I'm so very thankful!

    About 56:00 (being cast out, or the covenant penalty piece is also very interesting to those of us of a certain age. In my own original temple covenants, a similar reminder was given for the covenants we took. This adds to my awe at the endowment or gift of knowledge and covenant that Jesus was bestowing on his disciples and now, for those of us who in a dim way understand the need of covenant.

    At the conclusion of the parable of the sower in Matthew 13, this is recorded (also found in Luke 8):
    9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
    10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
    11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
    12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
    13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

    "... He was speaking the word to them, so far as they were able to hear it; and He did not speak to them without a parable; but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples." He teaches through symbolism, and explains PRIVATELY (in the temple??) to HIS OWN DISCIPLES.

    Much of this coincides with Max Freedom Long’s book titled “What Jesus Taught in Secret” … the word “Initiate” continues to occur over and over in ancient writings. When David began using this word at the start of the podcast, I totally perked up. It coincides with what Max Freedom Long writes in his book, while studying the ancient Huna writings of the Hawaiian priests, who are also believed to be “initiates” into the purest form of Christ’s gospel teachings. So David I would love to sit in your basement for a very long time and pour over some of the plain and precious things that explain the “mysteries of God”.

    Moroni 7 is definitely a temple chapter, on a few different levels. For instance-vs 20-25 is the same pattern we find in the temple for how revelation is sent by angels, to the prophets, for the instruction of the Lord’s children in the ways of Christ. There’s more there, but you all could have gone on and on.

    Just wanted to point out a few things. I was looking at the JST translation for Matt 5, which includes faith, baptism, and receipt of the Holy Ghost. Its kind of one long beatitude, making 10 and 8, which messes with the cool numerical discussion, but also I think plays into the idea yall discussed about the completeness of the ordinance, especially since baptism and sacraments did seem to happen in or near the ancient temple. I haven't finished yet, but I'm interested to see what other JST changes might alter or enhance the discussion.

In the state of Indiana, there are a lot of Hopewell sites. Jones is a Welsh name and there are some interesting associations and rumors with that name along with a few other Welsh names. The well of souls symbolically what is a well? Something that is full of water. What is water? Water is life. Where was the original well of souls?
